Great hotel in every way save the food offering- there wasn't and on first night advised to order in if we wanted food! Great coming from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast for continental was OK but nothing hot... unless you count the toast! We paid for a full breakfast and got a pale copy unfortunately.

Excellent location with great views if booking a room with sea view. Very pleasant staff. On site parking. Dog friendly but the additional charge double that of most other hotels.
Unfortunately no restaurant available this visit and only a basic continental breakfast with tea and coffee in hot water jugs ( a pet hate of mine) so disappointing.

Only a basic continental breakfast and no other food availability that we could see February so winter month. Hotel was lovely and warm everything we went. Occasionally the church bells nearby was an issue as it was 24/7.

Friendly staff and good room for people with mobility issues. The cooked breakfast was really good. I was disappointed to hear that they’re stopping food in the hotel as the food was good and it will only be continental breakfast although the pastries were lovely but when you go away a cooked breakfast is always good the next morning.

Me and my partner stayed here for one night for our anniversary. We got an upgrade to a suite. When we got into the room it was freezing cold and that was with the radiator on. Asked for a different room and they gave us another suite. It was a bit warmer but there was numerous issues, badly stained carpets, stains on the sofa, badly scratched and marked furniture and the bathroom was awful, bath and shower covered in mould and corroded bath tub. The smell was awful. Bathroom window also didn't shut which made the bathroom freezing cold. The toilet also didnt flush. As we entered the corridor to go to our room we were hit by a strong damp smell and corridor walls were badly damaged, carpets looked like they needed a good hoover. I suffer from asthma and as soon as I entered the corridor and the room i started feeling very wheezy with the mould spores and dampness. We had originally booked the garden rooms for dinner and was told dinner was in the bar. They state on their website that itm's freshly made food, it definitely isn't. The guy serving got our order wrong the first time even though we were the only people in the bar. I got lamb shank (for £23) it was inedible. Looked like the lamb had been heated up in a microwave and was like Jelly. My partners wasn't any better, he got fish and chips and there was a tiny amount of flakey fish the rest was greasy batter. I have emailed a formal complaint to the hotel

The hotel in general was rather cold, although the room was spacious both the room and bathroom were very cold, even with the radiators on, there was dust everywhere; on the door, the curtains, the bed frame, mould on the tiles, only 1 bulb working in the bathroom… quite a bit of damage to the furniture too, bits hanging off the window.
The room was very dated and it appears the part of the hotel we stayed in requires a major revamp. There was a big issue in the hallway (a massive water leak by the looks of it) - we had a gorgeous view though!
The cooked breakfast was hit and miss - delicious hot porridge, the fry-up was piping hot and tasty, but my husband had asked for crispy bacon and scrambled eggs, the bacon was soft as anything and the scrambled eggs were stone cold…
This was not a 4* experience for us unfortunately.
The staff were super friendly and helpful though and we couldn’t fault their service.

Parking was fine, the staff in the bar and restaurant were very nice and helpful. The beer pumps were not working, Guinness was the first to fail. Then the Heverley wouldn’t work, I finally got the worst pint of Tennents ever after about 10 minutes of trying. Again, not the staffs fault but the management/owners. I feel the staff are trying to do the best they can with the tools they have, I generally felt sorry for them…

The food was very basic, the whole place needs refurbishing in my opinion. Rooms are tired and generally unclean, I couldn’t wait to check out in the morning. I skipped breakfast, no prizes as to why.

Definitely won’t be returning, stay well clear of this one!

Great location but rooms were a little run down. We had a ‘river view’ room however one of the three windows had a crack through it. The towel rack didn’t work and no one could fix it until we checked out 3 nights after. Paint peeling from the skirting boards and bath was flaking.
Service was brilliant, young staff with little experience however happy to help and find out anything you needed to know.

I've been fortunate to stay in a lot of 4* hotels with work and this was not one of them, unfortunately.
There was no concierge at check-in to help with bags and no lift, so we had to carry our bags up to the 3rd floor. Fine for us, but not if you struggle with stairs.
Whilst the food in the restaurant was tasty, service was slow as there was only 1 person taking orders and serving, as well as clearing up.
The bedroom was dark, despite having 2 windows. There were no complimentary toiletries, the milk was UHT pots, there were no complimentary bottles of water and no mini fridge, although there were packs of biscuits. You couldn't sleep with the windows open if your room is at the back, as ours was, because the bell at the church seemed to sound every 15 mins throughout the night, which we weren't told about. As for the bed - terrible. The mattress was hard and had a hard ridge in the middle due to the base being 2 twin bases which were held together by a metal link that was also broken, although my partner bodged it back together.
The shower was good - no issues with pressure although hard to get the right pressure which was comfortable to use at 1st.
Breakfast was ok - plates were cold on the 1st day so the food cooled quickly. The toaster was a serve yourself, the jam was in large pots and not individual pots on the tables. Tea /coffee was self-service and the choice for cereal and pastries was limited, especially the pastries if you went for a later breakfast. Not great.

Great stay except the room itself - there had been a leak in our room leaving big patches of dampness now dried on the ceilings and walls in the hallway, entrance, and bathroom. There was also an ongoing leak from the ceiling lights in the bathroom which could have been quite dangerous.
The breakfast was excellent and the staff very friendly. A lovely and quiet location

Be mindful that the road can be twisty depending what direction your coming from, but your on the right road as your wifi might go on maps , but you can still see on the map if you look ahead that your going in the right direction 😉

This was a trip for our family attending a wedding in the area. We booked two rooms.
The first room, a family room, was lovely but when wanting to make tea we found the cups dirty and the tray had not been refreshed and looked dirty. We also found a dirty cup on the window ledge!
The second room, a premium room, had no lid on the toilet so very unhygienic. There is no lift and we were on the second floor, carrying suitcases up the stairs was difficult especially for my parents.
The hotel in general was tired and work to improve it is needed.
Breakfast was very good and the staff were mostly helpful and very friendly and chatty up my 8yr old.

The hotel asked me for feedback which I provided but I haven't heard anything back from them.

Booked a twin room but on arrival after a 7 hour journey found it was set up as a double. No apology, just told to wait in the bar while the beds were separated and made up.

Ordered food in the restaurant. For some reason I was given a children's meal. No apology again but they did replace it with an adult's size meal. Had to chase up my daughter's desert 20 mins after being told it was on its way.

When we arrived we found that the TV didn't work and notified front desk. They didn't get back to us until the night before we were leaving. (4days) To replace it.

There was mold all over the grout in the shower and when we informed them we were told it was \"not live\". I have 10+ photos but only posted 2

A diesel bus ran/idled outside our window for 30 minutes forcing us, in 28c weather, to close all windows so we didn't choke from diesel fumes. When we notified staff they just said... The bus can't go anywhere else.

There was dog biscuits on the floor of the room. It has obviously not been vacuumed.

We paid for a king bed upgrade and the room had a double bed. They did accept responsibility for this and reimbursed us.

The overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. (See images)

Overall it was a complete disappointment and even if it was 1 or 2 things we would have been fine but the diesel bus fumes and mold were the worst and just left us with the worst experience in a hotel.

That all being said... Helensburgh is beautiful ❤️

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. A comfortable double bed. Facilities were basic in the room. Tea and coffee, but no water. The toilet would not flush properly. We arrived on a Thursday evening and could only eat in the bar area as the main dining room was closed.
Breakfast was fairly good, but my partner's cooked breakfast on the Friday was overcooked.
On the Saturday evening, in the bar, I asked for a pot of tea, Earl Grey, but was told that they don't have it. I asked for coffee but was told that the coffee machine was broken.
It is a lovely building next to the Loch but felt they could maybe have some books and board games/card games for the evening.
Maybe by increasing the cost of staying here, improvements could be made.

I stayed in the Rosslea as I was attending a business meeting the next day. Firstly I was on the 3rd floor and there is no lift so if you have mobility issues could be an issue. The room itself was adequate but would benefit from a revamp. The tv was ancient but perfectly useable. The bed was 2 pushed together so was a little strange when sleeping. The breakfast was really good and was included with the stay. Overall I had a pleasant stay.

Lovely hotel, the breakfast was great and there are nice walks close by. The hotel bar had a nice atmosphere and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast and bar staff all very nice.

£30 additional charge for a small dog to stay only 1 night, while the dog was very welcome and accommodated for this seems excessive compared to other hotels. I believe the charge is the same regardless of nights stayed but feel this could be lowered if only staying a single night. There is little soundproofing in the dog friendly rooms, didn’t bother us too much but the dog was a little unsettled with the noises (we were directly above the entrance which probably attributed to this)

Approaching the Hotel needs more signage but the aura of the hotel approach is very exciting. The entrance is lovely and the ambiance and atmosphere is very smoothing and calming. The staff were excellent and even amended out breakfast arrangement to a small take away continental breakfast as we had a very early start. The Room was decorated nicely with heavy curtains. When I first opened the room door the atmosphere in the room smelt damp. It took ten minutes to figure out that a card has to be put into a holder by the door to get the electric and heating to work in the room. The bathroom in room 18 was out dated, small narrow bath and the shower screen didn't have a plastic sleeve to the bottom so all the water just ran out onto the floor. I had to use a towel to mop the floor dry. This happened even though I had the Screen pulled into the bath. Otherwise the sink and toilet appeared new and of good quality. The bathing toiletries were a good quality and the soap was superb. These negatives’ said, the bed was beautiful, a huge king size, clean and extremely comfortable. Our stay overall, even though very quick, was a good experience and I will stay at the Hotel again. Thank you to the staff, The Receptionist, Chef and Night time Receptionist who were all top class and excellent.

Really not a four star hotel.

I can't understand how this hotel has been rated four stars. The rooms are tired and there were clearly maintenance issues that have not been addressed. Our bathroom has rusted fixtures, lights not working, no seal on the shower screen, so the place flooded after a quick shower. The wall outside our room had clearly had issues with damp and had not been repaired.

The bed was fine, apart from the worlds smallest pillows (no spares), and the room was clean, but the furniture was tired and damaged in places.

The public areas are ok, but the bar is at the back of the property with a beautiful view of the car park. The restaurant seemed to be only used for breakfast and was nice enough but breakfast itself was not good - the contintental buffet was fine, but the quality of the cooked food was poor. Scrambled eggs were awful, haggis and black pudding were both poor quality and the sausages were completely tasteless. And instant coffee, which frankly should be a crime to serve in a restaurant!

The staff were all lovely but the place feels like they are doing what they can with limited bidget and no recent investment.

It was a super choice as from the reception staff to restaurant staff who were mainly young were so warm and friendly.

Nice scenic location and very welcoming and helpful staff. Rooms are OK although some little signs of wear and tear could do with a freshen up. Breakfast very comprehensive and cooked menu generous plate size, recommended.

The breakfast rook/restaurant carpet is in need of a attention as stained/marked in multiple areas a bit off putting. The rest of the hotel carpets are wel maintained and nice. Gardens and coast/shore immediately next to hotel.

Stayed at hotel enroute to Trossachs.

Staff were very friendly and helpful especially reception staff. Would not rate the hotel as four star. Furniture condition was generally tired. Hole in room door part repaired. No lift in hotel although staff offered help with bags. Pop up waste in bathroom sink didn’t work. Had to eat in bar area in the evening with two loud televisions blaring away and dogs being allowed in the bar when people are sitting eating.

Very clean, tidy and comfortable overnight stay. Even manged to have evening meal after late arrival, despite hotel catering for wedding guests! Very good cooked breakfast and other options. Would have stayed longer if itinerary allowed, definately stay again if ever in the area.

Can't fault the service and we slept well which is the most important thing! However we were disappointed by the room - it was fine but shabby (peeling paint, mouldy grout, cheap furniture, hole in sheet) and didn't feel 4 star. Had normal sized pillows squeezed and folded into a much smaller pillowcase which was uncomfortable.

Tv in the room but with no channels to watch so pointless, got told on arrival that I had selected a room upgrade and had to pay an extra £20 but nowhere on my receipt or anywhere in the booking had this been selected, food was good and waitresses were friendly and attentive
