The Sir Sam’s inn is a charming lakefront property on Eagle Lake.

While the rooms and inn itself were a little dated, this didn’t bother us much at all. We opted to stay in the inn itself rather than the suites and it was nice to be located inside the main building. The rooms don’t have air conditioning, however the ceiling and swivelling fan made the rooms comfortable enough to sleep. You do get a nice breeze from the lake at night!

The amenities (paddle boards, kayak and boat tour) were all free and added to the overall experience of the inn.

The restaurant option has daily specials to choose from, however it is a bit on the pricey side. I would have liked a few more basic options but I understand what they are trying to achieve with the dining experience.

The staff were all great, helpful and knowledgeable of the area.

We will return for a trip again in the future!

An amazingly peaceful and serene resort perfect for a couple's getaway, or quite time with friends.

The restaurant food was really really good.

My only complaint was the lack of airconditioning in the cabins (and more importantly the lack of air flow, meant that the room was way too hot on one particular humid night.

AC really wouldn't be needed most nights, but good airflow is a must.

My biggest complaint is that the outdoor pool was in repair because of a crack in the pool. There was no water in the pool. There were no lounge chairs available around the pool. Guests were not able enjoy the pool deck. There were only 2 lounge chairs on the dock.
Meals were very good, but quite pricey.
The waterspa was delightful. The buttons on the different spa stations could use replacement.

Stayed for 5 nights in a Glen Eagle room. Quiet, older cottage style room. Outside needs some TLC. They had just started to get ready for the summer season. Had to ask for clean towels after a couple of days, rooms were not cleaned daily. Pool/spa was lovely. Food was good. I only ate in the dining room a couple of times. A nice relaxing stay.

I booked this hotel because it was only minutes away from a work engagement to be completed the following morning. I arrived at the hotel after the normal check-in hours and found my room keys and a welcome letter in my name on the desk. The room has a wood-burning fireplace, which fits with the charming inn vibes of the hotels and property. The hotel overlooks a lake and it was beautifully quiet and serene the following morning. I skipped breakfast and went and sat on a chair by the water and ready a book and just enjoyed a quiet break from my work trip. I did have one issue with my room - the water stopped working while I was in the shower (of course! LOL) and slowed to a trickle. I forgot to notify the desk staff, probably it was a wider issue than my room so probably they knew already.

We stayed for the long weekend in May. The outdoor pool and docks had not been put out for the season yet, because it was still cool on the lake. The Indoor pool was wonderful and warm, really relaxing. The cottage we stayed in was comfortable, although one of the couches was an old pull-out, so was not very firm and not comfortable to sit on. However, the beds were comfortable and soft, the bathroom was stocked and clean, the kitchen was smart and useful. The staff were lovely and genuine, and helpful. We dis not eat at the restaurant but instead drove into town for meals. We took advantage of the spa treatments, which were excellent. Would love to go back.

Property needs some updating. The room was dirty and the floors had not been washed or vacuumed in quite a while. Although, the bed was clean and comfortable, the wood burning fireplace is always enjoyable. The pool/water spa was ok. Most of the jets did not work but the water was nice anyway. This property has definitely gone down hill over the last few years. A bit disappointed. Not sure we will be back.

This is a very old resort that is falling apart unfortunately. The \"water spa\" is a huge lukewarm pool with more than half the jets not operating. Very disappointing aspect of the resort. The main building has drywall peeling off and beams starting to expose in the ceiling which gave us no comfort. The cottage we stayed in had cardboard for toilet paper and tissue paper; the tv was probably 20 years old; water pressure was horrendous - almost couldn't wash and rinse our hair; the furniture was old and outdated and wildly uncomfortable. It was really disappointing overall. There is no \"waterspa\" to speak of and the entire resort needs massive upgrades.

We had a wonderful stay at Sir Sam's Inn and Waterspa! We had a beautiful view of the lake, and saw lots of deer walking along the shore during our stay. We had plenty of firewood for our fireplace in our room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and cute, complete with a smart TV and robes. The live music, Gord Kidd, was exceptional. We definitely hope to return here soon :)

Clean, Comfy Room & Bed. For a couples get away, an important item is to have descent coffee, a cheap Keurig just doesn't fit the place. No microwave in the rooms, by their choice, also disappointing.
But Overall Excellent Staff, inside & out.
Not adequate parking for more than a car/truck.
But Adequate, they were very accommodating & helpful.

Yes loved it and would like to return in the fall. Comment ate at the restaurant and on menu had risotto, spicy taste. It was fine but prefer the traditional risotto. As well had the salmon dish with watermelon, salmon good but did not necessarily like the watermelon with it. Different is good but sometimes not necessarily.

We visited this property for one night for our anniversary. The water front and beach are nice and the staff was very friendly. We were not impressed with the restaurant. The pricing was not adequate to what we recieved for dinner. Well over priced. Also I paid extra for the romance package which was supposed to include a bottle of wine and charcuterie board. The board had to meat with it just a bit of cheese and crackers. For a 50 dollar charge I though it would be better.

This property has a lot of potential with historic charm but is old and run down. It is advertised as having 2 pools (indoor and outdoor), a gym, tennis courts and watersports but the reality was the gym was closed due to flooding (but had been converted to storage), the outdoor pool was closed and under repair, the tennis courts were unusable (1 court was destroyed by washout, 2nd court had a net but had large cracks in surface with weeds growing up through it), watersport equipment was limited to 1 SUP, 1 kayak and 1 hobbicraft for the entire property to share (paddles and lifejackets hard to find). Rooms did not have any a/c and the property was severely understaffed. There was only 1 person covering the front desk, bar and dining room.

While the room was clean, upon arrival our toilet was not flushing. With no phone in the room you need to bring this to attention at the front desk. The issue was fixed after approximately an hour and we were offered complimentary drinks at the bar for the inconvenience. I would have liked to see more fire wood prepared neatly in the room before we arrived as well as kindling and matches.

The bed was incredibly comfortable! The spa pool and sauna were excellent. And the quiet Muskoka atmosphere was exactly what we had hoped to get out of our weekend.

None of the negative comments are reasons we would not return. In fact we look forward to booking our next getaway at Sit Sam's.

The inn is set in a beautiful area of eagle lake, great views, nice small beach with sun beds, nice to swim in lake, free hour boat trip, weather permitting, free kayaks, lots of areas to sit and admire the view, nice restaurant serving breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, good indoor pool and spa areas.
The main building could do with some tlc, the cleanliness of the lodges needs improving, a lot of cobwebs inside and out, carpets very old and need replacing.

I have been to Sir Sams a few times over the years and I have to say that it has gone down hill greatly since I was here last.
If you are going in the summer you should be aware that aside from the lobby and dining area there is no air conditioning. The rooms get very hot.
They are clearly having some staffing issues. We were unfortunate enough to be there the day after their chef suddenly quit, leaving them scrambling to get a replacement. They did get someone who had previously done the job for them and he made a valiant effort to keep things on an even keel. Unfortunately he had to battle a larder left depleted by the original chef.
The long and short of the dining experience was that dinner was bumped an hour later for the early diners which made everyone come in about the same time. This seemed to overwhelm the staff. Meals were VERY slow to come out and very erratic. Many dishes, including mine which was requested as medium-rare, came out well-done and had to be sent back adding another half hour or so wait. They did not offer to take my wife's dinner back so we could eat together. They did give us free drinks to compenate.
Breakfast was a different story. It was organized and everything was good.
The rugs in the main area and the suites were very old and stained. Our bedding had to be replaced because it was frankly dirty.
I have to say the staff did their best. The place is looking very tired. It needs a major overhaul.

My husband & I enjoyed our first Fall Getaway to Sir Sam’s Inn. Beautiful area tucked away in the trees for some peace and quiet. Staff were wonderful, rooms could have been a bit cleaner. Rooms are in need of some updating. Therapy pool was wonderful for those achey muscles. Food is pricy in their Dinningroom but if you don’t mind spending it then….all in all was a nice place.

My wife and I booked a last minute 2 night stay just after Canada Day weekend. The resort has beautiful, west facing, sunset views over the lake.

However, the daily complimentary 1 hour cruise, with Steve, was the highlight of the trip (enjoyed both days)!

The bed was comfortable although both nights were sleepless, due to a mini heat wave, and the room was an absolute furnace! That being said, we knew up front there was no AC (not the fault of Sir Sam's).

There's much room for improvement, however...and we're not sure it deserves even a 31/2 star rating.

The ice machine was broken (has been for awhile), so we had to ask for the bar to only '3/4' fill our mini bucket each day :( On a similar note, there was enough bodywash included for only 1 shower. Good thing we brought some with us. Also bring a power bar, as there are hardly any available electrical outlets...that arent't already being used for table lamps/fans/CO detector.

We ate dinner on one (1) night (fool me once). Good thing neither of us were hungry. The 7oz NY striploin (nearly $50 CAD) was possibly 2-3oz's of fat, although it was cooked...and seasoned well. I strongly encourage taking advantage of their meal plan, or eating elsewhere. We found McKeck's Pub was worth the 17 minute drive.

Lastly, the TV was maybe 15\" at best, and the satelite had nothing but news, TV shows, and PPV. They'd be better off replacing with a larger SMART TV where you can stream your own Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc.
