The hotel was beautiful, we were upgraded for free to a suite. We had a beautiful dinner two evenings on the rooftop, and breakfast by the pool, staff were excellent, good location, short walk into town

Very happy with our stay overall. Good location. Incredible views from hotel rooftop and magnificent hotel art.

Had issues with driver accommodations and there were many professional photographers on the rooftop on a daily basis including wedding preparations during out stay.

Wonderful find in Udaipur

Although quite new, Chunda Palace recreates the traditional luxury of royalty, with hand painted walls and marble bathroom. Service was excellent, although food was just average. Views if the lake from the rooftop restaurant were stunning.

Picturesque Hotel

The views from the Chunda Palace are beautiful. The rooftop pool with indian architecture to the detailed hand painted rooms and hallways are truly amazing. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. I definitely recommend this palace.

Great palace stay in Udaipur

The historical suite was amazing! The food was good and room service was great. The only poor service was during breakfast where locals clearly received favorable service. We had to ask for coffee and tea at least four times while others were served before us. The local area was outside the main tourist area. The palace itself was really beautiful with great views from rooftop and beautiful lighting at night.

Live in beauty and comfort

I really loved our stay at Chunda Palace and look forward to returning there soon! The aesthetics of the spaces, the comfort of the rooms, and the graciousness of the staff was amazing! Also, I booked on the internet and was afraid of something not going on (because I had not spoken to a staff member personally). But it was needless--my stay there was perfect!

Great palace like experience, delicious breakfast.

Away from the old town but close to the beautiful Pichola lake. Great view from the roof top restaurant and pool. Enjoyed our stay there. Wish I could extend our stay few for few more days.

The rooms are very noisy and this is unacceptable for a \"palace\", unless you are happy to wear ear plugs for the price.

Nice hotel. A lot of effort appears to go into the common areas, but not necessarily the rooms. Ours needed some work. Some cleaning of one of the doors and perhaps some paint would freshen it up. One of the nozzles was missing from the wall in the shower and water wouldn't even come out of the others. But the overhead shower worked fine. The size of the room is over-sized, which is nice. Ate both dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were great.

Shocking and disappointing

This hotel does not deserve to charge the rates is does. It competes with other 5 star hotels in the area and has no right to. The rooms are filthy. There was fungus on the walls, crud in the toilets, fused light bulbs, electrical appliances that don't work, staff that doesn't care, lumpy pillows and mattresses, no heating and no windows that let air in. No ventilation. They charged us over 200£ a night and were absolutely smug about their incompetence. I can tell you a lot more but please do yourself a favour and do not stay here.

Nice hotel but poor resturant

First impressions was WOW when l was guided to the hotel room. Most of the room is hand painted with intricate details. Felt like a raj. Front desk service was pleasant and friendly enough but they do not have any tour packages, which is an omission l didn't quite get given the price of the hotel (average £94 a day) and being Udaipur it's a tour haven. However the front desk were very helpful, advised what l could visit in Udaipur, 100Km outside over a 2 day period and hired me a private guide and taxi. So credit to the front desk for that but they should just offer standard packages to avoid the fuss.

Room service is slow (l had to ring again after 30 mins when l only ordered a beer). They have a restaurant on the top floor with nice views but food was \"just OK\" nothing that warranted a return, there are much better restaurants with Lake views in Udaipur so don't bother eating here. Breakfast was average despite the freshly cooked eggs (rest was buffet and luke warm). Wifi was very slow.

Loved it. Easy to walk or take a tuk-tuk to the city palace. Hotel itself is beautiful in its decor. Restaurant was very good on roof top with 'bonfire' dining.

Great hotel

My wife & I stayed in a Chunda Palace after 3 weeks touring India, what a way to unwind & relax, our room was large and spacious, with a relaxing area overlooking the lake. The views from the roof top dining area are superb, the food and service are top class, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Over all i would highly recommend Chunda Palace, it was a great experience

Weekend stay at Udaipur

We stayed at Chunda Palace for 2 nights. The entrance and the reception are very tastefully done. It gives a glimpse of Mewar Princely State's culture and lifestyle. You know that you are in for a visual treat. The terrace pool and restaurant are the highlights of Chunda Palace. Rooms are large and well maintained. We did not try the in room dining but there are lots of places to go around. If you intend to eat dinner at roof-top restaurant book in advance. It will be best to keep a car for the day to take you around. They have good travel desk if you like to use.

Great Palace experience

The moment you step inside this hotel you realise this is something different. The overly decorated walls and elaborate furnisher is all over-the-top. All inside walls and ceilings are either hand-painted or elaborately decorated. You feel over stimulated at first, but as you get used to it, you start to marvel at the actual beauty of the place.
Our room was huge with a build-in sunbed in the bay window. The bathroom is functional beyond the over-the-top design.
The rooftop restaurant, pool and bar area is spectacular!!! You will not get a better 360 degree view of the amazingly beautiful Udaipur.
Restaurant offering is average although the service is friendly and helpful.
The Palace is close to the old town centre.

This hotel, I'm guessing, was amazing at some point. But the fact is that if you are going to have so many intricate details in a hotel you need a lot of money to maintain it. Things are looking really old.

Disappointed!

I was very disappointed to stay at this hotel. It is far from my expectations after reading all the good reviews about this hotel.
First of all the staff; we arrived at the hotel around 9 pm and expecting someone to welcome us but no one except a receptionist.
Check-in procedures take too long as all the people who staying need to fill out the check-in form and Udaipur'S goverment guest registration.
The restaurant staff was not energetic. No one came to clean up our table until we asked them to take the dirty dishes from the table.
Moreover, we ordered in-room dining service at middle of night, but it was reached our room after 1 hour. I do not feel like staying in the palace just like the hotel name as the service was lame.
The rooms are spacious, but mattress was hard and bed linen was rough with poor quality until I asked housekeeping to change the bed linen with the softer one.
I asked for a room change the next day, but still I face the same problem with the previous room.

Anyway, the area is very peaceful hotel with interesting architecture and beautiful views of the lake picchola.

Quite new but unconvincing

The hotel is relatively new, but with an overdone, rustic, decor - and already showing some signs of sloppy maintenance. The services offered are of acceptable standard, but the pace is slow. Food was also acceptable, but nothing special. If I remember right it had a 4-star rating, but I don't think it's more than 3 (+). A plus for two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. CAVEAT: We came straight from the neighbouring Oberoi Udaivilas, which is of course an unfair comparison and a different category.

A glimple into the old times of Royal Quarters

The Hotel is tastefully done. It immediately catches your attention and transports you to the bygone era of royal quarters. Richly pained motifs on walls is nicely done. Each room is very spacious. Restaurant food on roof top restaurant was great. It could improve on a few fronts though: 1. the noise sealing is poor. Opening & closing of doors makes a huge noise. Door locks should be modernized. [someone locked me out from outside twice. It would be a deadly mistake in case of an emergency] the doors should be fail safe. 2. Breakfast was lack luster, they could add more of continental food. 3. Management is not trained to handle disputes. [there were guest fighting openly for half an hour in the restaurant without management effectively taking them out to resolve their issues.] 4. Service staff could use more training in serving customers.
