We are staying at Thon hotel sandvin. It is overlooking the fjiord. Beautiful. The breakfast is terrific. There is 24 hour cpffee available. The service is great at the front desk.

FABULOUS HOTEL!!! We wish we stayed here longer, but we will return to this same hotel next time. Fantastic breakfast, large rooms, comfortable beds, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The area around the hotel is walkable and very picturesque. Highly recommended.

A huge and expensive mistake.

We have stayed in 7 hotels during our trip to Norway and this was the worse and the only one we regret staying. It is quite pricey and it's advertised as this very relaxing beach hotel, for us it was not! They gave us a run of the mill room close to the main road, in an annex of the main building, room was just dull and depressing. Reception lady was missing curtesy and it had a \"we don't care\" about you sort of feel.
Parking was free and very convenient and we had a good breakfast...but that was it.

The hotel is situated in a lovely spot on the water in this historic town. It's a beautiful old building, although our three-bedroom apartment was in the modern addition on the back. We made use of the full kitchen and were glad for plenty of space for our family of four. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious. Parking was a breeze in the underground garage.

Lovely setting on the water with views of mountains and pretty gardens. The dining rooms were beautiful and decorated in period furnishings. The rooms (we had a suite) were quite spacious but in need of care and updating. Furniture was worn, lightbulbs were missing, dusting was needed. Once grand hotel needs TLC.

I emailed the hotel enroute to them asking if they did buffet as had stayed at two others this week. I got a reply stating they did not have a booking for us. We arrived and they did room was lovely fjord view clean we booked for buffet arrived and the staff very lax did not seem to k ow what doing also felt there was a biased there some people being served with smiles friendly and had drinks poured out water included ours was put on table and walked off we sat at table as were not sure whether we just helped ourselves then eventual staff come over looked at us and said just help yourself. Food was amazing cannot fault the buffet. Breakfast again lovely could have do e with more choice of breads. Check out great male at reception good custoner service. Felt that the head waiter at dinner unprofessional in that he came into the dinning room to get juice in shortsobviously off duty

Fantastic stay and views! Impressive Hospitality!

Super lovely place that has been owned by the same charming and delightful family for 9(?) generations. Great staff! Had such a wonderful stay and the most delicious meals. Breakfast waffles and jams were homemade and soooo yummy good! Best overall dinner we had in Norway but could use a deeper wine list less orientated to the American market.
We stayed in the historical part of the hotel which is sweetly decorated in the traditional, old fashion style. A bit noisy because it is old and one can hear people walking in hallways but we enjoyed the decorating effort. The modern part has great views over the lake and a private decks to sit outside. Take time to hang out in the garden or on the main porch looking out at the lake. Great walks that go along the side of the lake. They had a fire going inside in the parlour and we meet some very nice people there traveling. The staff really made an effort to make sure our stay was great and we definitely appreciated it! Oh, can't forget our most dashing owner host for the art tour at night. So much fun talking with him! Poor man! Talked his ear off. Could have gabble with him all night!
Already to planning to stay again on our next trip to Norway. Quite happy! Great vibe! Huzzah!

Hotel consists of historic building and a modern one, modern is blended in so you practically can’t see it from the street. Breakfast buffet is included, WiFi is fast and free, TV has HDMI so bring your FireStick or another favorite streaming device. Plenty of parking.

The Sandven Hotel is in a historic building with the charme from the 1800s. The room size fits to historic standards, however regularly two traditionalrooms represent one modern room. That gives the feeling of Junior Suites, Superior rooms or similar. Delicious and rich breakfast with fresh vegetables, fruits and plenty more.
Walking distance to downtown and historic shipyard.

Pretty room, clean and more spacious than most!

Very few choices in norheimsund and the Thon hotel is good - the only reason I am not saying great is that I agree with other reviewers in that their food is very poor . Breakfast was ok - we had dinner the night before and it was really only barely edible the lobster bisque was fishy and tasted old the other dinner options were only marginal . They need to do better in the food department!!!

We stayed in the new wing of this hotel, it was modern & stylish. Free parking and free wifi were provided. The staff were helpful with suggestions on local food options. We only stayed 1 night on our drive through the fjords back to Bergen. Would stay here again if ever in the area again.

we were in the family room and had the room with the view on the fjord. We walked around the premises and hotel is right on the city center. There a waterfall you could walk behind 10 min. drive from the hotel. There is also a sightseeing ferry leaving at 9am and returning at 5pm, do not miss.

Excellent ratings are difficult for me to give our; however, the beautiful location and overall experience we had at the Thon hotel was close. Food, service, and comfort levels were all quite good and we had no issues with anything other than the cramped parking for our rental car. If you don't like cruise ship congestion, then you should consider this quaint hotel on the fjords.

The front of the hotel is a beautiful old building that houses the reception, lobby and restaurant. Most of the rooms are in a separate modern building at the back of the hotel. The rooms are simple but decent and the old building is very nice. You can get nicer rooms that face the fjord as well.

Vi ankom en fredag i oktober og ble møtt av en hyggelig betjening. Kaffe og kake var tilgjengelig i resepsjonen så det var en fin start.
Gratis parkering med lademuligheter var et stort pluss.
Rommet vi fikk var bare så utrolig flott og stort med havutsikt og balkong.
Kaffemaskin på rommet, delikat bad og gode senger gjorde vårt opphold til en utrolig god opplevelse.
Frokosten var også utrolig bra!
Vi manglet ikke noe på dette stedet.
Her kommer vi gjerne tilbake! :)

Si je pouvais mettre la note de 10++++ je le ferais ! Nous étions logés dans la partie moderne. Très belle chambre avec salon et balcon avec vue sur le fjord. L'hôtel historique est vraiment magnifique. Le petit déjeuner est composé d'un très grand choix de mets et est servi dans la belle salle historique. Plus que parfait !

Sjarmerende hotellopphold – men maten skuffet

Vi bodde på et superior-rom i den opprinnelige delen av Sandven Hotell, og var svært fornøyd. Rommet var nyoppusset og lekkert, med en nydelig utsikt mot fjorden. Et ekstra pluss for balkongen, selv om det så ut som den ikke var rengjort i år. Selve rommet var ellers rent og innbydende.

Servicen i resepsjonen var upåklagelig – personalet var svært hyggelige og imøtekommende. Et stort pluss var også gratis tilgang til et nærliggende treningssenter med godt utvalg av utstyr, noe vi benyttet oss av.

Vi var heldige med været under oppholdet og fikk oppleve flere flotte turer i nærområdet – naturen rundt Norheimsund er virkelig noe for seg selv.

Dessverre trakk matopplevelsene helhetsinntrykket noe ned. Middagen i hotellets restaurant var skuffende: entrecôten og ørreten vi bestilte var begge halvlunkne og ganske smakløse. Servitøren virket dessverre også lite erfaren. Frokostbuffeten så tilsynelatende fristende ut, men varmmaten var altfor kald, makrellen var full av bein og eggene for lite kokt.

Alt i alt et flott hotellopphold i vakre omgivelser, med høy standard på rom og service – men restaurantopplevelsene trenger et løft.

Vi (3) var på gjennomfart. Overnattet en natt i Suite. Hotellet møtte våre foventninger til punkt og prikk. Til middag spiste vi marinert lam - utmerket. Natten ble tilbrakt i stillhet i gode senger. Avsluttet oppholdet med god frokost (dog noe hadde ligget litt for lenge fremme).

Greit hotell men helt forferdelig dårlig lydisolasjon. Noen av rommene i den nyere delen ligger langs «hovedvei» uten isolerte vinuder så det er ikke lett å sove uten ørepropper eller noisecancelling headset. Dette er skuffende gitt at man betaler 1600 kr natten for en generelt helt gjennomsnittlig hotellopplevelse i seg selv

Nydelig frokost men kjipt system for spisetid

Rent og greit rom. Nydelig frokost med godt utvalg, men ganske dårlig med tanke på fleksibilitet på når og hvor lenge en kunne spise. Spisetidspunkt måtte også planlegges for og avtales kvelden før. Vi fikk vite ved ankomst fredags kveld at vi måtte velge når vi ville spise frokost og det innenfor 3 gitte tidsrom: 08-09, 09-10 og 10-11. Det ene tidspunktet var allerede fullbooket. Systemet skapte også unødvendig køsituasjon ved buffeten da veldig mange av de som skulle spise innenfor et gitt tidsrom kom til spisesalen samtidig i starten av tildelt tid. Ordningen var visst spesiell for helgene. Fleksibilitet rundt frokost er noe av det gode ved å bo på hotell, og det ble borte her.
