The room was dirty. I had to use a wet towel to clean the floor. It was sticky and dirty. The bathroom had rot in the walls and smelled of mold. For the amount that we paid for the room I would have expected better.

Stayed here previously without issues. This time was different. First room had an awful smell. Staff did change our room. Second room also had a very odd smell (like maple syrup) but was not disgusting like the first. When showering, we noticed mold on ceiling (took pics). Breakfast next morning was luke-warm to cold. I even asked to refill the sausage gravy because it was empty, but it was cold. Left message for manager to call me. No call received after 4 days. I called again and left a second message...24 hours later still not call back. Disappointing.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suits in Lufkin, Texas, and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel was clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere from the moment I walked in. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and quick to assist with check-in, which made the arrival process smooth and stress-free.

The room was comfortable with a cozy bed, fresh linens, and all the essentials needed for a relaxing stay. I especially appreciated the quiet environment—it made it easy to get a good night’s rest. The complimentary breakfast was a great bonus, offering a nice variety of hot and cold options to start the day.

The location is convenient, with nearby restaurants and shopping, making it a great choice whether you’re traveling for business or leisure. While no hotel is perfect, this location met my expectations and provided good value for the price.

I would definitely consider staying here again when visiting the Lufkin area and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable place to stay.

Not bad.

Breakfast was alright. Coffee is great. The selection in the pictures are different than what was there but it was fine. I booked a standard room and they gave me a handicap accessible room. Not terrible but not having a bathtub was a bummer.

Staff were friendly but didn’t provide room cleaning during our stay, had to ask for coffee items that weren’t replenished. Lots of door slamming at 3am don’t make for a good night’s sleep. (Pool is unheated and not cleaned)

Pool needs repair and cleaning at the top rim of the pool. Breakfast lady on my last day was very rude. Ran out of eggs two mornings at breakfast which I thought was unacceptable. Cleaning staff ladies are very nice and helpful. This is my fourth time to stay here and I will have to think real hard if I’m gonna stay there again.

Booked room 6 months in advance but we were put next to the noisy laundry. Cleaning carts blocking our way in hall and front desk told us 'go ahead and move them'. Loud machinery noise every 21 seconds all night (couldnt sleep so i timed them). Apart from all the slamming doors and noise through thin walls we managed some sleep until cleaning crew started banging things around at 6-7 am. After a terrible breakfast selection we checked out and had about 18\" to get our luggage through cleaning carts while the staff just looked at us. Front desk clerk never looked up as we dropped keys and we left. By far worst HI Express stay ever! For the record it was 1 of 8 hotels on our journey and all others got 5 stars!

Only disappointment was all usb ports in the room were damaged and the plug by the bed didn’t work so charging all our phones next to the bed was not possible. First hotel I have been in that had a ceiling fan…that was a nice bonus to help circulate air!

Quick 1 night stay

The room was spacious and had a kitchenette, which was an added bonus. The property looked clean and new with the exception of our white window shades that had dark brown water stains as if there had been a previous leak and they hadn't replaced the shades yet. It didn’t impact our stay, but it is a maintenance item to be addressed.

Kicked in door and Hot Yoga....

The first room I had the door looked like it had been kicked in, it would not latch and lock properly unless pulled shut with extreme force. when I went down to the lobby counter I was told there was nothing they could do and that there were no other rooms available. After raising a stink over the door another room conveniently opened up because the \"guest\" just happened to call and cancel. The other issue I had was in the workout room, it was a constant 78+ degree room no matter what the thermostat was set to, made for a very uncomfortable workout, if I wanted a hot yoga scission I would of booked one at a more reputable place.

Excellent place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very clean and comfortable. Love the ceiling fan in my room. I stay here every time I go on a cruise about every 6 months.

Gross!

The hotel was absolutely disgusting. Starting with the overflowing trash outside. The room was gross, their were blonde long hairs all over my bathroom. The floors looked as though they had never been mopped. The coffee pot had definitely never been cleaned. The microwave and refrigerator were old, rusted, and dirty. I refused to even try to eat breakfast or even have a cup of coffee out of fear of food poisoning because of the lack of cleanliness. If i ever travel back to Lufkin, i will definitely chose a different hotel. $150 for one night in this \"hotel\" was a definite rip off! I have photos, but the app is not letting me upload them.

Terrible Stay

This was the worst hotel stay I have had in a long time. There was hair in the sink and shower and the floor was dirty.

the bedding looked slept in.

Great stay Great Staff

Our stay was great the staff was friendly and helpful the room was clean and the ac worked very well which was appreciated with Texas tripple digit weather the bed was very comfortable it was quiet so we got a goodnight's rest the only con with our stay is the cleaning crew was very loud and even though checkout is at noon they were knocking on the doors at 9 yelling housekeeping

This is a great hotel overall. The staff is friendly, and it is modern and clean. My only problem is the door to the rooms are not sealed by any means, and you can hear every single sound in the hallway. I literally heard a person open a soda can down the hall from my bed.

I had no trouble locating the property. Checking in was a breeze. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the parking lot. The only complaint that I had was that the door had an obvious space when you closed it. That should really be fixed. I almost requested another room because of it. We were on our way to a college tour the next day so since it was only one night I let it pass.
The room was extremely cold and we had to completely turn off the wall thermostat to let the room warm up (tried to readjust but the thermostat kept going back to 68 degrees. This took several hours! Overall the stay was ok.

Breakfasts were very good! They had good variety, staff was excellent in restocking supplies and item were fresh and appealing.

I think we should have requested a handicap room. Toilet was very low and hard to stand up from.
