Gorgeous historic hotel definitely worth the stay

You cannot find a more beautiful hotel and the park was right outside. Breakfast was fabulous. So many choices!

This hotel is beautiful - from outside. It needs some serious renovation. The bathrooms are very outdated and super small. I had to request a change of rooma because of a moldy bathroom. The smell gave me an instant headache. This can’t be healthy! All the rooms I have experienced unfortunately have that old room smell. Please restore this beautiful historically valuable building!

Disappointed couple

Maybe our fault, but we did not realize that the room was in extra building instead of the main ”castle”. Room was ok, but with that money you would assume AC and better pillows. Restaurant was also little bit disappointment in the evening.

Was disappointed our room wasn’t in the main castle, which is why I chose the property. We had to walk like a kilometer to our room in another adjoining building. Apparently you needed to specify at time of booking but how would s non local know! Overall the restaurant was good and service reasobable

Nice hotel, good staff and quite average but okay breakfast. Rooms could be located a bit far away from reception but could be reached without going outside.

Nice plus that on room there was a bit more than Basic tee/instant coffee so there was couple of larger biscuits etc.

Beautiful castle, old facilities/bad housekeeping

This is a wonderful, historic building, and a unique experience to stay there. The local area and reception and restaurant staff here were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is decorated in a traditional style in-keeping with its history, but it is could do with better upkeep and repair.

Our 'superior' room within the castle was aging a little (wallpaper turning yellow, for example, and the enamel on the bath had huge patches missing, which got larger as the enamel broke away with each shower). During our 5 day stay, we seemed to have only one visit from the daily housekeeping, who replaced our towels that day, but at no point replenished teas or coffees, or took away dirty mugs from the first day.

Overall, the beautiful surroundings and friendly staff elsewhere were let down by bad housekeeping and damaged/dated room facilities. We enjoyed our stay in the area, but left feeling that this hotel relies on its architecture and history to keep visitors and prices high -- and needs to improve the room and housekeeping standard to match.

Should be a dream hotel, but really is a nightmare

My wife, who is from Imatra originally, and I travelled to Imatra to visit Relatives and friends and we decided it would make a change to stay at this \"fairytale\" hotel. We had a long hot drive from Pieksemaki, through Savonlinna to Imatra arriving at 2:10pm, you can check in from 2pm according to the hotel information provided. We were politely informed our room was not ready but it would only be 2 or 3 minutes. I had my doubts this was true as the reception area was well adorned with other would be residents obviously in the same boat. After 20 minutes of waiting I was again told it would only be another 2 or 3 minutes, to cut a long story short it took until 3pm to get to the room. The room itself was more tired than we were, it was in desperate need of updating and decorating, we had a lovely view over Imatrankoski but I was afraid to open the windows in case they fell out. The bathroom had seen many better days, the sage green tiles almost managed to hide the mould and the dirt around the fixtures, but not quite. The positives, were the WIFI was really very good and free, complimentary tray had some really very nice tea, coffee and biscuits, although there was nowhere within 4 metres to plug the kettle in and the sign in the bathroom warned that steam could set of the fire sensor, so I finished up boiling the kettle in the bathroom. Finally the toilet paper is without doubt the best I have ever come across in a hotel, a little comfort for what was still to come. The hote

Historic castle hotel right next to the river dam

We stayed at the beautiful castle hotel that's connected to the spa hotel via a tunnel. There are 2 saunas for ladies (only 1 for the men), a steam room that was so warm I could not stay for more than a few seconds because it was too difficult to breathe in there, 2 hot tubs, and a small pool. The river view from the third floor was lovely and the small balcony could fit a chair so I could sit and read. Across the street, there's a small museum. Restaurants and shopping are all within a 5 minute walking distance.

Breakfast was better than the 4 and 5 star hotels in Heksinki with a delicious spread of fruit salad, fresh whole fruits, porridge, cheese, meat, breads, jams, sausages, eggs, pastries, salad, coffee, tea, and milk. We had dinner there once and it was fine.

There are some bikes available for rent for 7 Euros a day and it's a great way to explore town and exercise at the same time. It's free if you take the bike out for only an hour or so.

Our bed was made of two twin beds put together with medium firm pillows. The soft pillows were in the closet and you could request for firm pillows. We had a small desk and chair that was adequate for a laptop. There was also a winged chair and a telephone chair.

They had a very cute kid's playroom with a castle and slide, dress-up clothes, train tracks, and duplos Legos.

Hotel was nice, well kept, clean room. Comfortable bed. We stayed in the Spa building. Dinner was nice, good food. I had a greyfish/avocado salad to start and then stroganoff, my husband had mushroom soup and then pepper steak. Restaurant service was slow, that is the only negative we can say about our stay at the hotel. I must say in their defense that they had a very large party in for dinner plus a couple of other large tables, but they should plan accordingly.
Breakfast was good.

imatra visit

Weekend getaway to visit the spa and the surrounding area. Hotel was okay, nice old hotel obviously has a long history - comment meant in a nice way. We however got a room in the new part of the hotel. The room was quite nice and comfortable with a balcony to enjoy the park like grounds and the river. No complaints about the room. Spa was just ok, quite small and were only a couple of people working. Pool and sauna area was also nicely done, however the hot tub was not actually hot but was only lukewarm at best.
The front desk team was very helpful and polite as was the wait staff in the restaurant. Breakfast was adequate and kept well stocked although it was setup in a small room so it could get s little crowded. All in all a nice stay and good scenery in the surroundings but if you are looking for a true spa experience I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

We stayed at the spa building. Room was really really filthy, everything was covered with thick layers of dust. We both got asthma and allergy symptoms at night. Also there was broken lamp and missing panels. Room was also really hot, over 30 degrees all the time. No air condition, there was only a tiny tiny fan, which just moved hot air little bit. Really uncomfortable room, we were happy to get out of there. Staff was really friendly and the castle building looks nice from the outside.

Ihana historiallinen paikka Imatrankosken rannalla. Suosittelen. Hyvä illallinen ja todell mielyttävä tarjoilu aikaa henkivässä ympäristössä. Harvoja tällaisia on paikat Suomessa. Yllätti se, että koiran kanssa matkaavat laitetaan eri rakennukseen.
Huone oli kuuma, tuuletin tosin auttoi vähän. Hotellin puisto alueelta löytyi hyvin vähän roskiksia. Se on koirsn kanssa matkustaessa tärkeää.

Vanha hotellirakennus mielenkiintoinen. Huomasi kyllä, että hotellitoiminta oli loppumassa. Esim kylpyläosastolla ei yhtään kaappia, jossa avaimen kumirengas olisi ollut ehjä. Viileät porealtaat. Ravintolassa kesti todella kauan saada pyytämäämme parmesania. Ruoka oli jo syöty, kun se saatiin pöytään

Hotelli sijaitsee aivan kosken vieressä ja minulla oli näkymä parvekkeelta upealle Imatrankoskelle. Näkymän lisäksi kokemusta paransi kosken kuohunta. Normaalista poiketen vesi virtasi vapaasti kaikkina viikon päivinä mikä helpotti vierailua. Ehdottomasti kokemisen arvoinen vierailu.

Heti vastaanotossa tunsimme olevamme tervetulleita tähän linnamaiseen hotelliin. Huoneen sijainnin ennakkotoivomus oli myös otettu huomioon ja vahvistettu heti varauksen jälkeen sähköpostitse. Huoneiden äänieristys oli ymmärrettävästi huono koska on vanhasta rakennuksesta kyse. Huoneessa mukavat sängyt ja tyynyt, kylpytakit, vedenkeitin tee-, kahvi- ja kaakaopussit. Yleiset tilat on todella upeat ja viihtyisät. Portaikko ihan ainutlaatuisen kaunis. Monipuolinen aamiainen oli hyvä alku päivälle!

Baari ja ravintola, oliko niitä? Teinipoikani pääsivät tyhjään kellaribaariin pelaamaan biljardia, siitä plussa, mutta miksi baari oli kiinni pe-iltana?
Ei sähköautopaikkoja, en ennättänyt kylpylään kun jouduin lähtemään autoa lataamaan Prismalle.
Aamiainen oli superhyvä, todella ihana yllätys 😊

Allasosaston rajoitettu käyttö

Kylpylä oli rajoitetusti auki, siitä olisi tullut mainita etukäteen. Aamu-uinti ja sauna ei ollut mahdollista ma-pe ja muutoinkin allasosasto oli avoinna vain 17.30-22.välisen ajan.

Imatran kaunein nähtävyys

Hotellitonttu oli varannut meille upean erkkerihuoneen, jossa oli mukava sänky ja hieno näkymä kosken suuntaan. Aamiainen oli valikoimaltaan runsas. Kasvisvaihtoehtoja oli kiitettävästi perinteisen aamiaisen lisäksi. Saunaosasto oli rauhallinen ja porealtaat olivat hyvät. Höyrysauna ei valitettavasti ollut käytössä. Pääsimme onneksi perinteiseen löylyyn.

Kolmas kerta tässä hotellissa,kaikki on edelleen moitteetonta lukuunottamatta hotellin ravintolan ruokia. Jos haluat hyvää ruokaa,mene jonnekin muualle syömään. Aamupala kyllä oli oikein hyvä.
