Aside from the fact the hotel has a strong moldy oder. I had to leave a day early. I notified the hotel a day prior and I inquired about not being charged the day I didn’t stay. The hotel stated I need to contact Expedia. Expedia was okay with not charging for the day. The hotel then flip-flopped on saying it was hotel policy and had to charge me but never produced the policy saying so. I don’t recommend this hotel.

Some travel limitations

About a 15 minute walk to the Cormona historic area and the bus station into Seville. Early morning options to Seville airport are extremely limited. It cost us nearly $60 for a 7am taxi. There are public bus options later in the day, but you have to make a transfer in Seville and allow about 90 minutes travel time.

The hotels breakfast was very limited, but there aren't any nearby eating options unless you walk downtown. For dinner there are nearby restaurants and a couple of taverns.

The hotels facilities were inline with its price, but you may need to balance remoteness to your travel plans.

Great location close to old town, bars and restaurants. Beautiful historic building. Only stayed one night in standard room, but it was a good size, beds were very comfortable. View over pretty internal courtyard. Bathroom a little tired, but nothing that could not be cured by re-grouting and a new shower head. Free parking outside and on street, but hotel provides private parking, not sure of price.

Very disappointing. The location is the best thing about it. The hotel could do so much better. The fridge in my room was empty. They say rooms are rated differently according to how much you pay. The pool is dirty which cannot be accessed until after 10.30am in the morning (how crazy it that?). The breakfast room is in the basement. No windows or natural light. Prison like. The most extraordinary thing is feeling as if I was sleeping with the person next door. I could hear his snoring through the wall, which kept me up all night... Pretty ghastly experience. It is not a 4 star hotel. Very disappointing

Our standard double room was very spacious and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
However, our room was rather dated and in need of a revamp. There were no facilities to make a tea or coffee in the room, absolutely nothing, not even a bottle of water. The minibar war plugged in, but completely empty - very strange and really not at all what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The breakfast room is in a windowless basement room with paper tablecloths, the breakfast was 'okay' but nothing like at other 3 and 4 star places we have stayed on this holiday. I am not sure how they can get 4 stars?! Would not stay again :-(

Hotel was a perfect getaway and a beautiful place to stay. At this time of the year it was quiet and offered an ideal location to relax. We took our bikes to cycle in and around Carmona and were pleased to know there was a designated secure parking area in the hotel underground garage for bikes. Really enjoyed the location and accessibility to explore the town by bike and foot. Very nice and highy recommend as an alternative or additional stop to Seville.

The hotel is well positioned in the old town, parking is available at additional cost, the entrance and parking bays are tight, very tight! The Wi-Fi in the hotel was hit and miss, quite often unavailable in the room. The superior bedroom only had a standard double bed, which was disappointing, the shower head had to be tied up to be functional. The breakfast selection (at additional cost) was good. The pool is unheated salt water, very refreshing, sun loungers are limited and can get busy.

Family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teens. Nice property, great location, nice bathroom, comfortable beds. Swimming pool was not open in March. Free parking outside, I think the hotel has indoor paid parking but we did not use it. Laundry service is expensive per item of clothing, not available on weekends, no laundromat in town.
Restaurant has a casual and formal side with different menu items, food was okay, 2 of 3 staff were unfriendly on the first night, better on the second night. Front desk staff were indifferent.
We had a family room with 4 beds on the ground floor at the front, very loud traffic noise, Walls are very thin, we could hear another guest's entire phone conversation in the hallway/their room through the walls.

Not PET FRIENDLY at all

The hotel is alright, nothing special and certainlg not worthy of 4 stars, a bit tired as are most historic hotels. Needed a bit of investment. Grumpy receptionist who advised the lift doesnt work soy wife with her leg in a cast and crutches had to navigate lots of stairs. The highlight was the next morning when we were asked to pay an additional €25 because we had a pet. The room was only €70 for 2 adults. I just dont get it. Its a 'pet friendly' hotel, but there was nothing in the room for the dog, no water, no bowl, nothing. So what is the €25 euros for. I asked if children have to pay a supplement but just got a blank look. Wouldnt go back to that hotel, but would certainly go back to Carmona.

Lovely interior spaces and a cool, comfortable room and bed with a wonderful view out across La Vega.

Friendly staff, but I don't recommend the restaurant. It was supposed to open at 7.30pm and we gave up when there was no sign of active staff by 8.10. Perhaps just a signage issue, since most dining establishments in Spain seem to start at 8pm or later. Or perhaps we needed to pre-book for anyone to show up.

Not easy to find with a GPS. Suggest to use road to enter thru Puerta de Córdoba in the historical part of Carmona and not use city center to find the hotel. It is best to leave car in the hotel’s parking paid facility and walk through the charming town. Hotel restaurant is great and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Bit weird honestly. Looks great on the outside, building structure and location is great. It wouldn't be hard to make it a lot better. Marble everywhere and gold taps looks more Berlusconi than top quality. Room had great view and bed is good. Everything works. Truly terrible breakfast room in the basement with semi-pornographic trompe d'oeil pseudo mythological scenes on the walls. Overheated and no natural light. Breakfast wasn't much better than the room it's served in. A buffet with too few guests to ensure turnover and freshness. Hour old fried egg anyone? Catering staff helpful but trapped, I fear. Reception staff not particularly helpful either. All the basics are there but it feels lazy.

the irish bar was pushed in the advert but was only open for 3 hours and no draught beer. the swimming pool has pigeon poo and feathers in it and the pigeons wash and drink in the pool. pigeon poo all around the seating area. very unhygienic. parking costs are high. was told I could park my motorbike outside and 3 days later I was told to move it.

rooms were good and staff pleasant would not return at there prices, as the facilities are not as advertised. 2.5 star not 4 star.

Some issues with the hotel. Nearly half the plates in the breakfast room where chipped and should be replaced. The sonic bird deterrent made it an unpleasant and unrelaxing place to spend time by the pool. You could only be locked in your room or leave the room open. With bars on our windows no fire escape. The room keys had a metal fob on which clanked when ever used this made it hard for people to leave or entre a room in silence. That's not the guest fault but that of the hotel. You have to pay £10 to use the sauna its not what you would expect on a 4 star . The Staff in general where pleasant enough.

Excellent Stay!

Stayed here on a recent visit to Carmona as it seemed to be fairly central to the various places to visit. Some of the roads are VERY narrow, so quite a hair raising arrival! However, received a warm welcome and one of the reception staff went with my husband to show him the car park. Our room had a view over the rooftops, but no problem as we had arrived after dark anyway!

The air conditioning was very welcome and the room was large and spotlessly clean. The beds were quite firm, but personally that's no problem - I would rather that than too soft!

We enjoyed tapas in the bar area - a good selection and very reasonable prices.

Breakfast was served in a basement room - but with fantastic tromp l'ceil around the walls and the room was huge. The breakfast selection was great - much better than many of the hotels we have stayed at. A good selection of cereals, fruit, bread, youhurts, cold meat and a hot selection.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here agin or to recommend to others.

The only complaint was the rather annoying flickering light in the lift!

We stayed here for three nights and booked two rooms for 3 adults. Including breakfast we were charged the same for each room, but one was obviously inferior to the other, and was alloted to our single adult. We booked three months in advance and obviously should have asked for 2 rooms for 4 people as the cost would have been the same and we would have been given similar rooms. When we asked if the single adult could move to a better room we were told that the hotel was fully booked for the 3 nights. This was not true because the hotel was plainly only about half full on our third night (Sunday). Not happy customers.

Attractive hotel

Stayed for a night on our way from Seville airport to Cordoba. Hotel was easy to find and there was free parking out front at the lookout spot - I think you can also pay for private parking at the hotel. The room was really spacious - though a bit cold (I guess for most of the year that's not an issue) - found an extra blanket in the closet which helped. There is a nice looking pool (we were there in winter so didn't use it).

Really enjoyed this beautiful hotel with great views, staff helpful, breakfast very good. Rooms furnished to high standard.
Only issue was we travelled with pet dog, which we told them about, but when we arrived they said they only allowed small dogs up to 5kgs, would allow us to stay but had to pay 30 euros a night for the dog!

A real pleasure to stay

So, so pleased we decided to stay at this delightful town and even moreso that we chose this hotel. Professionally managed, superbly maintained and situated in a central position - easy walking to this entire old - and also new town areas, and yet very quiet. Spacious room, free 'good' WiFi and parking, swimming pool in relaxing courtyard setting, superb restaurant plus a separate 'tapas' cafe and also a bar. Excellent hot and cold buffet breakfast. Staff are welcoming and eager to ensure you have a successful and positively memorable stay - and an entire time in the town of which they are most proud- and quite rightly so!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights in April 2017. It is a charming hotel, the room was clean and cosy and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. We ate at the hotel several times and enjoyed the food. It is well situated for walking into the town and there is free parking outside the hotel on the street plus underground parking at a cost if required.

Family of 4, we were able to get 2 rooms with connecting door, lovely view of valleys below, clean marble floor, cheerful interior to rooms, welcoming public areas as well. The only negative was that tomatoes served at breakfast were slightly off (I brought this to attention of service staff) I regard this is as one-off occurrence however. Driving to hotel doorstep was no problem for us, roads not too narrow. Overall very happy with stay.

Weekend trip to Seville to see the Feria de Abril.

Hotel was wonderful, the building was full of cultural charm and the staff were most helpful. Carmona is a lovely town although the streets are extremely narrow: if hiring a car I would recommend that you book a very small one, as you will struggle to get around corners.

Feria de Abril was amazing and is a trip that I would recommend to everyone - make sure to allow a couple of days and stay for the last evening to see the fireworks.

Seville is incredible, lots of historical buildings from different eras and a gem around every corner.

Hotel Alcazar de la Reina is very good in overall terms and the room was excellent specially for handicapped people, with a bench in the shower. The New Year´s eve special dinner was also very good.

The only weak point is the lack of parking (the hotel has an underground parking but not big enough for all the rooms). And the Wifi, with the user and password, I could not do it work for my iPad

Difficult to find without a GPS. Parking facilities poor. Indoor parking expensive., difficult to get out of.
No information regarding restaurant opening times etc. At 8.00 pm we tried to enter the restaurant, door locked, called receptionist who came to the restaurant door, knocked, no reply and the inside light was then turned off. She then went and entered the restaurant by another entrance and we heard arguments, shouting.

We then went to the nearby hotel, Casa de Carmona, another supposedly five star hotel. We were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered our meal and a bottle of white wine. We were brought water without ordering which was poured from a jug, which was then removed from the table. He then brought a bottle of wine, which he proceeded to open and poured into both glasses without the opportunity to taste / reject. The wine turned out to be acceptable. He then took the bottle away, there was not a cooler by the table, and we had to ask each time to have our wine and water glasses refilled. On paying the bill, we found that we had been charged twenty six euros for the wine. When we queried why we had not been shown the wine list, they were not forthcoming, but kept insisting that they were a five star hotel, so this is how we presume they operate. The meal was acceptable, but the portions of hake were meagre and the meal was padded out with small cheese on toast. The final bill was ninety five seventy euros for two.

Traditional Spanish decor in this grand hotel

A good location for this traditional hotel. We parked on the road outside the hotel but there is a fee paying car park if you prefer. The square at the rear can be a little noisy as the windows are original but this is to be accepted in a historic building.
Free wi Fi is good but no tea making facilities in the rooms. Again this is not unusual. Beds were clean and comfortable and the rooms spacious.
Streets in Carmona are all cobbled so wear sensible shoes.

A lovely hotel, just a few pointers...

The staff (bar one rude receptionist) are fantastic and very helpful. Our superior double room was tired. It had had a view of the interior courtyard which makes the room feel dark and claustrophobic. The adjoining restaurant is a god-send and the pool is beautiful. Carmona is gorgeous.

We stayed here on a Saturday night, and have nothing but positive to say. Construction out front of the hotel took a little away from it's beauty, but inside was great. Marble floors and bathroom make for slightly chilly feet, but it is fancy. (One question: What is up with so many hotels in Spain having two twin beds pushed together instead of one regular bed? This hotel was no exception).

We stayed out late on Saturday night and were very pleased to learn that the hotel was happy to give us a late check out (2 pm) for no extra charge. Would certainly stay here again!

We had a very comfortable stay and would happily return. Excellent breakfast buffett. Shame only that there were so many pigeons around the swimming pool ...staff were trying to do their best to keep the courtyard as clean as possible!

Great location but mediocre hotel

The location is great as it is in the middle of the old city. But the hotel was understaffed and the employees were tired and surly. The airconditioning in my room rattled and the TV did not work.

A wonderful hotel in historic, sleepy Carmona

Very comfortable, roomy accommodations. Free parking available nearby. Very helpful and welcoming staff.

Great pick for a couple or family.

acceptable, not sure I would classify as 4 star though.

Hotel was fine, not as nice as I had expected from a 4 star, but nothing too bad. Except I had a room on the ground floor - no window that opened, no view (window was blocked by a wall) which was very disappointing. Also - rooms are listed as being smoking - but none of the rooms actually were. Not a problem - but very misleading if you are a smoker.

Good location for Carmona though - very easy to walk around the old town, and get back to to hotel from most places within 15 - 20 mins.

Some of the staff were great, others not so much....service in the restaurant and bar was extremely slow - perhaps this is just the local custom...but I don't normally go to dinner, and wait for 15 minutes before someone brings me a menu or asks me for a drink order....especially when there were hardly any other diners around!

Hotel Alcazar de la Reina in Carmona

Lovely hotel in a small and quiet medieval town just outside Sevilla. Friendly staff and good breakfast, tapas bar and more formal restaurant. Recommended and we would stay there again if we would revisit this fascinating part of Spain.

By luck, this was a great location for venturing out by car to the surrounding area such as Seville, and Cordoba. The town has fantastic ambiance without the crowds of Seville

Carmona and the hotel are easily reached off the main highway between Seville and Cordoba, and only a short drive (under an hour) into Seville.

Hotel sits facing a very nice view from a height, and has a pool and nice sheltered sitting areas for a warm weather stay. It is attractively decorated (a restored old manor) and has retained a good bit of character. Attached is a very nice Irish Pub with a good menu (I ate out at a local Spanish eatery). The dining room at Carmona's Parador is in walking distance for those wanting a more imposing dining experience.

Carmona is an interesting city that can be easily toured on foot out of the hotel. Old residences are obviously being purchased and restored enhancing the city. It struck me as being a town with nice hotels that would be a nice overnight or weekend outing for people living in Seville, etc.

A palace for a bargain

We loved this hotel in Carmona, a quiet town that's accessible to Sevilla (20-25 minutes/miles) but much more calm and quaint. It really was a converted palace with a lot of elegance and style, but much much cheaper than the nearby Parador. The staff were great - gave good recommendations and helped with reservations in town. Overall the hotel was quiet, except for one night of odd noises. The breakfast was huge and great and the other hotel meals were decent bargains.

Charming stay near Seville

If you're willing to drive half an hour into Seville, this is the place to stay! Sumptuous rooms, helpful staff, no ostentation. The restuarant is first class.

Would definitely go back

We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 day stay at this elegant hotel with friendly helpful staff. Excellent room and bathroom kept spotlessly clean, and good air con. Very good breakfast and the restaurant served good food and wine. Swimming pool needs to be kept clear of pidgeon feathers. The attached “Irish Pub” did not disturb us but, although popular with the locals in the evening, was somewhat bizarre for a 4 star hotel which could do with an attractive bar/coffee shop for the use of its clientele. Very good location within the walled city, close to the beautiful main church and a few minutes walk from the main square with bars serving the usual Tapas.

Äldre hotell i historisk byggnad.

Ett äldre hotell med gedigen historia, stort rum med högt i tak. Badrummet i äldre skick, trevlig pool i en innergård, frukost i fönsterlöst källarutrymme som var OK men inte mer. Det som störde oss var avloppsdoften när vi kom in i hotellet, en doft vi inte kände på rummet som tur var.
