This amazing gem is the best experience we have ever had in Europe. It is >700 years old, and so beautifully renovated and preserved at the same time.
We stayed in two Comfort Double Rooms first night and it was lovely. And then moved to the Deluxe Apartment, perfect for a family of 4.
The staff are warm and kind. The location was perfect as well, in the old Town and everything was within a 10 min walk. Loved it!!

This is such a cool hotel… right on the mall with gorgeous shops surrounding. Restaurant and bar located downstairs. We stayed on a Friday night and it was so loud… people screaming until 3 am from the bar… then street cleaners on the street. Too bad because the hotel itself is really exceptional and the family apartment was perfect.

Beautiful centrally located hotel in the pedestrian zone of Salzburg. Quirky old hotel with super features. Our room was fantastic for a family of 4- we were just three.two bathrooms one was huge!! Kitchen well equipped although we would have liked a kettle to boil water for our tea! Although There was a fancy coffee machine Beds super comfy. Great location walking distance to old town. Loved it would highly recommend.

I can sum it up in one word: Gemütlichkeit! The hotel is charming and quaint. Breakfast was great! Location is optimal; it’s near lots of restaurants, die Alte Stadt and on a pedestrian street with shopping. Our room was clean and quiet, and well appointed. Staff is friendly and helpful. We will be returning at Christmas time!

Breakfast was a nice, traditional European breakfast. Recommend if you want to be in the heart of the old world atmosphere with great views of the castle and churches.

Really enjoyed our short break in Salzburg at the Altstadthotel Stadtkrug.
We stayed in an apartment, room was great, comfy, clean etc and in an ideal location close to Mirabell Gardens and old town etc. On a pedestrian street, so taxi from airport dropped us at bottom of road, a couple of hundred metres walk, no problem for us but could be if you're not so mobile or have a lot of luggage. However when we left, hotel booked us a taxi and they came right to door, so may be better to contact hotel for airport pick up as they know taxi with access past bollards etc.

Highly Recommend Hotel Stadtkrug for your stay in Salzburg!! Our stay (2 nights) at Hotel Stadtkrug was a delight. From check-in through check-out, the hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Smiling faces greeted you as you come and go. Breakfast was excellent with exceptional staff support…loved the eggs made to order and as much coffee as you needed!! The room was comfortable enabling a great night’s sleep and a bathroom to match that was clean and easy to use. Housekeeping kept our room clean and tidy which was welcomed. Easy to access from any drop off point coming from the train station or airport. Plenty of shopping and restaurants less than 5 minutes away. Wonderful walk to Fortress Hohensalzburg where you have amazing views along the way. You will be in the middle of everything!! Definitely will stay here again next time in Salzburg!!

We had an amazing stay at the Stadtkrug. The staff was very helpful, confirming our stay via email previous to our arrival. The check in and check out process was very efficient. We had two king rooms with easy access from the elevator. The rooms were serviced everyday while we ate breakfast. Breakfast was a selection of breads, meats and cheese as well as cereal and yogurt. Eggs were available, made to order.

Our only issue was the number of steps entering the building, reception area and the restaurant. People with mobility issues must take care in accessing these areas.

The location of the hotel to the old town and Christmas markets was excellent. It was very easy to navigate.

Okay where to start, be prepared to park your car and walk 10 min walk from a parkade with your suitcases. The hotel is okay, the floors and walls are thin so you can hear all the others luggage rolling all night. Food in Austria sucks.

Shower was small and water was leaking on the floor when using it no matter how hard we tried to close the door tightly. Not defective, just not a fancy shower.

This hotel is located close to everything. The moment you walk out the door you are in the middle of Old Town. Very quaint and quiet area and we were only awakened by the sounds of chirping birds and the bells ringing from the many churches. Loved the hotel. It’s very old, but comfortable and “warm and fuzzy”. The staff were friendly and helpful. Make sure you do the Sound of Music and Salt Mine tours. Tickets can be purchased at the hotel and the pick-up and drop-off area is walking distance from the Stadtkrug.

This hotel is in a great location just a short walk from the old town. It is on a nice pedestrian street with shops restaurants. The staff is exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was a nice European style buffet with the normal meats, cheeses, breads and made to order eggs. The building is old and has nice character but is well maintained. There is an elevator in the reception but you still have to go up and down a few steps. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn’t mind a few steps and doesn’t need to park next to the building.

The two waiters seem to be on duty for breakfast as well as for dinner.
Change of rooms (because of rain dripping noise) - no problem.

Location is very good - check-in was horrible, because of lack of information, even after we spoke with the receptionist. We spent altogether more than 2 hours to get situated at the hotel, having driven all around and then parked and walked to the hotel, where the receptionist gave us only partial information resulting in our driving around for another half hour!!! The room and bathroom are reasonably comfortable- very limited choices at the breakfast buffet, in addition to poor service at the buffet on first morning there.

I recently stayed at this 4-star hotel, which is centrally located but a bit on the expensive side, and had a somewhat mixed experience. The service was excellent; the staff were friendly, attentive, and really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. However, there were several issues that took away from the overall experience.

First, we were disappointed to find out that the room we selected did not have air conditioning. This made the room quite uncomfortable, especially during warmer parts of the day, and we weren’t advised of this at all beforehand, which was frustrating.

Additionally, while the hotel’s central location is convenient for exploring the area, the fact that it’s on a pedestrian street means parking is separate and requires a bit of a walk. While this wasn’t a huge issue, it was an inconvenience, especially if you’re carrying luggage or in bad weather.

Another disappointment, was the breakfast. For a hotel of this caliber, the breakfast was far from good with very limited options. For the price we paid, we expected much better.

Overall, while the service was fantastic and the location was convenient, the lack of AC, inconvenient parking, and disappointing breakfast made the stay feel less than what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. I’d consider staying here again, but only if these issues were addressed.

Stayed for one night on a solo trip before a work conference and loved it. The location is fantastic for the old town and all the sights, and getting there from the airport was super easy as well. There was a fan in the room to keep cool at night, breakfast was really nice and the staff were great. Super clean room and a complimentary Mozartkugeln on the bed on arrival! Would really recommend!

Elevator was broken while we were there but fixed luckily before we had to check out. Rooms a bit dated. Shower tiny even for European standards. Stadtkrug was a wonderful hotel. The room was great, the beds comfortable, the staff so nice and attentive and the hotel was wonderfully situated. We ate at the restaurant in the lobby of the hotel one evening and the food was excellent.

The one note I would make is that visitors need to be able to climb stairs to get into the lobby and we had to go down some stairs on our floor to get into our room. If stairs are a problem for a given guest then this, sadly, might not be the best choice for him/her. I look forward to staying at Stadtkrug again.

Wonderful and historic family run hotel. Owners checked us in and were very accommodating. Great location. Literally across the street from the old town. I was worried about OFF SITE parking but it was EASY and is only a short walk to hotel. The hotel has great breakfast and a wonderful restaurant too. Would rate 11 on a 10 if I could.
