This was an end of season visit. The property, breakfast, and staff couldn’t be nicer. Sadly, pool was closed up for the season along with the restaurant. Dining options were very limited, even in town due to it being post Columbus Day.

The breakfast was amazing and fresh. Staff were very nice. We had an issue with the a/c in our first room and they quickly moved us to another room. The only down side was the sewer smell near on the one side of the building. Other wise it was a GREAT stay. Beautiful and and a great area.

Great little inn right on the cove, 10 mins to Booth Bay Area harbor. Great view from balcony. Rooms are updated, nice size, and bed was really comfy with nice sheets. Wonderful full breakfast & free parking is always appreciated. Owners are super nice. Love it and will be back.

Location was very quaint and picturesque. Our room was very clean. We enjoyed having breakfast and dinners at the restaurant. The food was delicious and staff was very accommodating.
The only complaint was the shower water temperature took too long to become warm.
We would definitely return to Smugglers again.

Property has a great view and is partially renovated. But for people with mobility issues it is a nightmare. We stayed in a room supposedly on ground level at the Loft building. There was not room to park nearby and you had to walk on ground with rocks and a very rough and uneven old walkway to get to the room. We were not able to go to the breakfast because you had to go from that building across the grounds and up a couple of stepping stones that had no rails. Or you had to walk a very long distance around the restaurant parking lot The tub was very slippery and no tub mat was supplied We had to go ask for one. They really need to work on ADA compliance.

We had a delightful stay at Smuggler's Cove Inn. The family owners are lovely, friendly and very hardworking. Despite the first impression from the road, the buildings are very well maintained and beautifully situated to make the most of the property and view. Our room was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast is a feast! Dinner choices are varied with a bit of extra spice in some dishes...the gumbo was a treat! We wish the owners many more years of much success.

Truly enjoyed our stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. There’s a lovely little dining room for breakfast and enjoyed live music Tues evening with the best dinner on our trip. The burrata squash salad with crostini along with the best tika masala we’ve ever had were definite highlights. The property felt very family friendly and we enjoyed seeing lots of dog owners out and about. It was nice to be away from the tourism downtown yet close enough to take advantage of it and the Maine Coast Botanical Gardens which is a must see.

Recently updated so rooms were nice & clean. Beautiful view &, pool was overlooking the water. They had kayaks available for use. Continental Breakfast was delicious and we were able to sit out on the deck looking out at the cove . They even grow fresh herbs next to the restaurant. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to relax this is it! Only downside was bathroom was small & they hadn’t remodeled the shower yet. Will definitely be back.

Nice stay & lovely ocean front views from rooms & the pool. Restaurant is excellent w/ daily happy hour from 4-5 and the room included a full breakfast buffet - which is amazing. Loved being able to access the ocean via the small beach & have kayaks for our use & evening fire pit by the beach. An older hotel but very peaceful spot & the rooms recently renovated

The property needs a serious face lift, it looks like little has been invested into the property for a while - the cost of staying at the property, is really both worth it and there appears to be a problem with the sewage, it stunk so badly around the accommodation.

It’s a nice enough place with clean and comfortable beds and good amenities. The kayaks available to the guests are a huge plus. The room is basic and small, the TV didn’t work, the balcony is nice. I don’t think it’s worth the $500 but I guess that’s what high season gets you.

The property was nice, but nothing was really accessible for people with disabilities, or strollers. A wheelchair user would not be able to dine in the restaurant at all, or access the front office. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful! I did not use the pool, so I can't attest to how that was. The food at the restaurant was good, but i don't think the quality matched the prices. The room was clean and well stocked, the view from our balcony was incredible!

I loved having access to a private beach. The sunset views were amazing. We enjoyed the pool, fire pit, and playing Cornhole. There is pier and kayaks if interested in using. Also, having a great tasting free breakfast with an amazing view just added to the experience.

While we looked at hotels near the busy harbor area for our stay, we were so glad we chose Smuggler's Cove instead. The front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. The balcony outside our room gave us a wonderful place to watch the sunset on the beautiful, peaceful cove...exactly what we'd hoped for. And the bed...oh my!! I'm usually very disappointed with the pillows at hotels but these were firm and the bedding was super soft and comfy. The short ride to the harbor for restaurants, shops and boat tours gave us an excuse to explore a little bit more of the area and we were glad for that too. Definitely recommend!!!

This inn was recently renovated but is still in progress in some areas. Our bathroom still had wall patches that hadn’t been painted. Our bathroom and the check in office smelled like a litter box. Beautiful place to stay! From the front it doesn’t look like much but once you get to the views in the back yard you won’t be disappointed! They couldn’t offer early check in which is fine but they let us leave a vehicle in the parking lot so we could go into town before check in! The pool was warm with a gorgeous view of the bay but it could use cleaning or a vacuum. The room was pretty and clean. I love that every room had 2 Adirondack chairs outside to enjoy the view with a cup of coffee in the morning! The fire pit had wood, paper, and kindling ready to go, we just needed to go to the front desk for a lighter.
We didn’t have a dog but we saw a lot of guests with them and the property was very dog friendly!
The restaurant was closed on the night of my stay so I can’t review. But the breakfast in the morning had a lot of options and was tasty.
Will definitely coming back, hopefully for more than one night and with the whole family this time! There’s a whole lot to do on the property with kayaks and SUPs, the pool, and the fire pit

Our room was newly renovated and we were the first to stay in it. It was beautiful, clean, the bed was very comfortable and having a deck overlooking the ocean was a great plus. We had a great housekeeper and the free breakfast was awesome. I can't say enough about the inn. I would recommend to anyone to stay there.

I Would Definitely ReBook

First time staying at this hotel, but I have been coming to the East Boothbay region for 20 years. Stayed in the pier building and it was well worth it just for the view alone. I just happened to pick the weekend the rements of past hurricanes from the south worked its way up so it was extremely windy making the balcony good for 5 minutes at a time lol The bed I could have just stayed in all day and been happy as a clam, my first night I slept 12hrs which was much needed. The complementary breakfast was delicious and a good variety, which my other half always made sure i was up for as he lives for breakfast.

We stayed at the end of the season to view the foliage and visit the pumpkin fest. The inn was nicely decorated and had amazing views of the harbor. The inn had nice amenities like a fire pit and free breakfast. We were also pleased at it proximity to booth bay harbor shops and restaurants.

This is a nice place to stay however, we were on the top floor and when you walk the dresser shook so i was worried with every step i took that the room below was hearing all the footsteps. This is also a place is quite after 9pm so if your with friends and like to stay up late like we do its kind of a bummer. We would have loved to sit outside and enjoy the weather but the spiders were in abundance.

Very nice location on the water. Salt water pool available. Kayaking and paddle boards for use. Restaurant on site. Room was updated. Bathroom is small, but room is decent size. Parking is a bit tight but restaurant provides alternate parking if needed. We were on the bottom floor of the Anchor Building. I think I’d recommend top floor as we had a heavy walker above us. Overall, nice stay and we’d stay again.

Lovely spot for a getaway!

We had a lovely stay here. The inn has everything you need from a big, delicious breakfast to kayaks and paddle boards for water activities. We swam every day in the ocean and enjoyed the heated pool afterwards. Our room had a nice balcony with a good view of the ocean. We met lots of people and really liked being out of the hustle and bustle of Boothbay Harbor.

We loved the setting and the grounds and the location. The room lacked outlets for recharging devices. It was immaculate when we arrived, but they didn't clean it for the 4 nights we were there. They did supply clean towels, and empty the trash, but that was it. When we asked, they said they only did light cleaning.

Arrived to a room with a broken sliding glass door with duck tape. It didn’t lock so we asked for a refund of 1 night or a new room. The owner told me she didn’t have that on the maintenance list, but I found a review from July 2021 stating a broken unlockable sliding glass door so not sure. She placed us in a new room, but we lost time waiting and had to move all of our things. Heated pool wasn’t warm. Breakfast options were not as good as other places. Parking was terrible! The view was certainly nice, but I wouldn’t return for the price based on what we received in return.

Would recommend reservations for dinner at the restaurant, and, the only improvement I would encourage is a more well trained, well organized wait staff at the restaurant to reduce wait time for meals for the excellent food that is being prepared by an obviously talented chef or chefs!

We had a wonderful stay! The included breakfast was delicious with offerings of pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, home fries, cereals, yogurt, granola, scrambled eggs and fried eggs.
The saltwater pool was a great way to cool off without going in the ocean. There is corn hole, a fire pit, kayaks and paddle boards…so much to do. We had a wonderful time and will be coming back!
