The hotel was nice, staff was helpful, pool area was great, rooms were clean and comfortable, but it was loud! When we were in our room we could hear quite a bit of noise from the hall (people talking, kids running), there were weird tapping noises in the morning (couldn't tell where they were coming from) and the construction at the new hospital across the street started before 7am (weekdays) with some loud thumping.

Loved that they offer underground parking. Kids loved the pool area, but they do tend to run out of towls a lot. TV channel didn't work, but was able to connect my phone to stream videos for the kids. The hotel was close to Dalhousie University about 12 minute walk which was great.

Great location. Want informed at check in that they only clean rooms every two days unless you request. As we were only there for 2 nights... it was less than ideal. Had to call to request soap, a microwave and towels on the second day... and staff was less than friendly. Parking is $28 per night but appears safe. It's a decent option but not as high-amenity as other hotels in Halifax.

Nice big rooms and comfy beds, decor was good, I like their modern hot tub and pool, weight room was decent also but a bit small; to be expected I suppose.

My problem were a lot of extras money wise you wouldn’t normally expect, property taxes. Underground parking a whopping $28 over night, and continental a crazy $21 extra each. When you are already paying for an expensive room, these additional charges are unfair.

Our room was clean and comfortable, however our floor was extremely loud - not suitable for a young family. Someone set off a fire alarm at 10:45 p.m., waking up our young kids. The pool was fine but not stocked with towels and no staff nearby. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, and the TV didn’t work for most of our stay and wouldn’t connect to our devices - just weird little things like that. Overall just OK.

The place was very clean, and they had lots of options incase you needed anything. However my family went swimming at 9pm (the pool closes at 10pm) and there were no towels. We went and asked for towels so we wouldn't have to drip through the hotel wet, from the worker and she said \"yeah I'm not getting any new towels,\" and she walked away from us. So we had to walk wet through the hotel and it wasn't just us that were in there without towels. We also had a to endure the smell of cigarettes in our room because the person beside our room decided to smoke in their room and there were not repercussions.

The pool was fine but you can tell it hasn’t been renovated. Hot tub was just warm and only half of the jets worked.

We enjoy staying at this hotel when over for appointments. The pros: front desk staff are super friendly, the restaurant is good, and rooms are clean. The cons: a few maintenance things this time around (strobing bulb in lamp, bathroom door that wouldn’t close or lock, an outlet that wouldn’t work). Parking spots are very tight (we saw one car make six attempts at parking). Will stay again, as it’s usually fairly good value for a Halifax hotel.

Upon arrival we were given our room key, pointed to the elevator, and that was it. No itinerary, no pool schedule no breakfast schedule. We asked when the complimentary breakfast was and was told from 7-11am. We came and went from the hotel a few times throughout the day and nobody ever cleaned the room. People were leaving beer cans in the hallway, drinking openly in the lobby (not the bar) and drinking in the halls/ elevator. We asked for more towels at some point and were givin a few more, and still…they didn’t take the old towels or make the bed. When talking to the front desk staff it always seemed like we were bothering them. The next day when we decided to go get the “complimentary” breakfast we asked about. We were handed a bill. After asking the waiters about this they shrugged and said it wasn’t included in our room. We did get a 20% discount on the food after asking about what we were promised multiple times. Unfortunately for the price we payed, we ate cold, chewy buffet food, with undercooked/ raw in the middle sausage. When leaving we told the staff how disappointed we were, which led to a discount on parking (1 of 2 nights parking was free) . Paying 28 dollars a night to park in a hotel where you are staying felt ridiculous anyway. This hotel has so much potential, but was a total let down.

Booking on Expedia stated we would receive 20% off a meal , we were told no while checking in (the woman was quite blunt bordering on rude ) , later that evening when myself and my partner went downstairs to attend our dinner reservation I seen a new staff member was working the desk, I brought the issue up and they added the note to my file and the issue was resolved .
We stayed in a platinum king room for two nights over New Years Eve while booking we cross referenced with the website more details of the room, some things on the website aren’t available (cream and milk in the fridge and other small details ) calling room service is difficult and usually takes 3-4 attempts to get an answer. Another perk that appealed to us with the platinum king suite was the bathrobes , so much so we sent the property a message to confirm we would have robes included and they responded they will fulfill the request, upon arrival only one was in the room and it unfortunately had a used bandaid stuck to the inside , they gave us a new one but left this one in our room. Pool was closed without warning and staff seemed annoyed when I called to ask when it opened , we never got to use those facilities. Staff was friendly at most times and hotel was clean, just felt mediocre in comparison to what expected for both accommodations and dining.

We’ve stayed at the Atlantica several times and it’s always a solid choice. However, this visit had a few negatives that are worth mentioning. First, we selected (and paid extra for) a “Platinum King” room. However, other than a slightly better view, the room and service were no different/better than a standard King room. Second, we went for a swim and found a very dirty jacuzzi with only one functioning jet. Finally, when we checked in, we were informed that, because we’d entered the parkade, we would be charged an additional $28. There had been no signage indicating this at the entry to the parkade or inside it that we could see.

The room clearly went through a renovation fairly recently. Was clean and comfortable. The obly thing i would complain about is the hvac unit. It didnt matter whether i changed the temperature or even turned it off. It was running all night dueing my 3 night stay. Otherwise, great hotel.

There is currently construction at the hospital across the street which is making quite a bit of noise. I also did not get the room I had booked. The sink in the bathroom also has the tap set back too far and the water is about 1 inch from the back of the sink. Other than that the hotel was pretty average.
