Good generic hotel that has most of what you would want. The room did not have an air purifier /humidifier included by default like most 3* hotels we've stayed at during our trip. Very central location to Ikebukuro. Airport Limousine bus stop right in front of the hotel. Busy and very big hotel necessitating the use of the elevator which was very annoying during busy times. We once had to wait over 20min due to it being too full three times once it got to our floor. The temperature cannot be controlled in the rooms. It was at times very warm due to warmer than usual temperatures at the end of winter.

This was our second stay at this hotel (first in 2024). The location is excellent, close to two subway stations, so transportation is quick. The rooms are small but clean, and most importantly, the hotel is quiet. There's a shopping center, restaurants, and everything a tourist might need in Tokyo. The only downside I've encountered is the language barrier. The very young reception staff have a very limited command of English, essentially just basic conversational textbook phrases. If a situation arises where you need to provide an answer other than the one in the textbook, it's a problem. Because they don't understand the question, they smile prettily and say \"yes\" or start asking other hotel receptionists who also don't know how to answer the question. So, tourist... you have to figure out the answer yourself.

The room was spotless and the staff was amazing. This is my 3rd time staying here because the staff and room having been the best I've ever stayed at while in Japan. The staff had decent English speakers and even when the person wasn't good at English they were still very helpful. It was very easy to order and pick up packages from the hotel.

The hotel was very well maintained. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The amenities are great especially the convenient store that’s right in the hotel came in handy! There were three of us we booked a room with three beds and we still had a fair amount of space to maneuver around the room. The location is a short walk to the train station and to so many activities and restaurants nearby. Will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is directly connected to Sunshine City Shopping Center. That is a major plus for many who don't want to walk very far to shop. About a 10 minute walk is Ikebukuro station, and near it is Ikebukuro Animate street, where all the anime stores are at. It is one of the best lodgings for the average anime fan. Staff are amazing, lots of them too so you can reach them with little wait time. There's a shuttle bus service at the hotel for those who need to go to Haneda or Narita. Rooms are very similar to 4 star hotels in North America,. There's also a family Mart located within the hotel. Too much convenience here, hence top ratings from me.

We’ve stayed here several times through the years. The location for shopping is great! The hotel rooms are decent. The one thing that remains consistent is the staff is NOT friendly at all. First I thought maybe it’s the language barrier but we stayed at the hotel metropolitan Ikebukuro last year and the staff was so welcoming and friendly even though there was a language barrier. Maybe improve your customer service.

Check in was truly the worst. I never saw such a long line of people waiting to check in to a hotel in my life. It was like waiting for a ride at Disneyland. It took more than 45 minutes. I was unsure whether to try the check in machine but it didn’t seem to be much faster. I know some might say well you can always arrive off peak hours but when you’re coming from somewhere else having to check out by 11am, you just need to check in to your next hotel as soon as possible. I honestly didn’t see anything about the hotel that justifies such demand. To me it was a very typical hotel, good location, and served by the airport limo bus. My first impression when I got there was I made a mistake booking here. They need to put their corporate heads together and seriously rethink their whole process and infrastructure. They need way more self service kiosk, maybe triple or quadruple the number, and they need to increase the check in staff by at least 50%. But of course that costs money and then this hotel just becomes more expensive, right? I thought the Japanese people were very efficient but this was a glaring exception.

This hotel is attached to the Sunshine City Mall. You CANNOT get a better location than that. Everything is super accessible, including the Ikebukuro train station. The location was perfect for our itinerary (we went to Kamakura, Gotemba (Hakone), Yebisu, etc.). Also, the huge Famimart just on the ground floor was top-level convenient. Our flight arrived late in the evening and we were still able to get good food from the konbini. The hotel is clean and spacious enough for a family of 3 (one teen). My only teeny complaint is that the hotel did not provide abundant amenities compared to others (just basic toothbrush kit) that provided face masks, lotions, etc. but for the price we paid, it was okay. The staff is very friendly and check-in/out process was seamless.

Checking in and out was very easy and the hotel laundry room was easy to use. Definitely recommend!!

Great place to stay as this hotel is connected to Sunshine City. You will be spoiled for choice for shopping, dining etc. Another plus is the fact that the airport limousine stops at this hotel. Staff were attentive though check in could be improved. The check in machines was not working when we arrived. The lobby of this hotel is quite spacious but the lounging/ waiting area was a pity, I was looking for a comfortable sofa or lounging chair on this area.

I loved my stay at the Sunshine City Prince Hotel. The location was absolutely perfect—right inside Sunshine City Mall, which made it so easy to grab food, do a little shopping, or just wander without going far. The staff were consistently warm and helpful, and the customer service was excellent throughout my stay.

My room was clean and refreshed daily, complete with new robes and slippers, which felt like a nice touch after long days out in Tokyo. Being in Ikebukuro was ideal too—just about a 10-minute walk from the Yamanote Line, making it incredibly convenient to get anywhere in the city.

I would absolutely stay here again on a future trip to Tokyo. Highly recommend!

I have stayed in this hotel twice since I just like the location. It is far from Ikebukuro station but I don't mind walking. And this hotel connects to Sunshine city so you will be close to everything you need and convenient if you don't take train so much.

However, the biggest problem this hotel has is its AC system.
It says they have AC, but you don't get access to control it and cannot change the room temperature since their AC system is an old central AC.
My first time staying at this hotel was in February, 2020.(Could be January)
Winter in Tokyo is very cold but I was hot when I was in the hotel room. And I am a really cold person. Then when we asked the front to change the temperature, they said they lowered it but we were still hot so they ended up bringing a fan in our hotel room. Well, a fan spinning in a heated room in Winter...
So if you are a hot person, this hotel would be really uncomfortable. My husband was sweating and really upset. He won't stay at this hotel in the future anymore.

This my second time stay, November, 2025, he didn't go to Japan with me so I stayed in this hotel again. I assumed the hotel room would be hot and I was right. Well, maybe I was forgetting how uncomfortable it was last time so it was hotter than I was expecting in the room. Again, I am a cold person. I am always cold.

Sunshine City was conveniently located connected to the mall and subway station. Family mart is right next to the lobby level by the elevators. Sunshine City is also close to many eateries and restaurants outside the property.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Helped with questions and directions.

This hotel is one of the shuttle (limousine bus) locations for pick up and drop off from Haneda airport.

Rooms were large and spacious. Gave it a four star rating for cleanliness, overall everything was clean but in the sink area there was lots of residual toothpaste/soap splatter all over the wall. This looked off putting.

We did not pay for breakfast / did not receive free breakfast, so could not comment on the food. My rating is for convenience to many dining options. We did receive discount vouchers for some of the restaurants but did not use them as we went further out our daily excursions.

It is only 10 min walk from the Ikebukuro station which has access to many train systems. The Narita limo bus has a stop right at the doorstep this hotel. so convenient! The only bad part is although there are 6 elevators, it can take 10 minutes to get into one to go downstairs.

Very conveniently located as it's connected to Sunshine City Mall and less than a ten minute walk to Ikebukuro Station, and there's a Family Mart located on the first floor. The views are always spectacular. The staff are very friendly and even though the room wasn't immediately ready when using self check-in, the staff were helpful at reception and everything was sorted promptly. It's also easy to get to and from the airport with the Airport Limousine service and they have a luggage forwarding service in the lobby as well. This will always be my go-to hotel to stay in whenever I visit Tokyo.

Loved it was attached to Sunshune city mall with loads of shopping, activities, and restaurants! Located close to lots of shops and a quick walk to Ikebukuro station. Room was clean and large. Loved they provided comfy pjs, toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body scrubber (towel) and clean towels and slippers daily. Would stay again.

I really love Sunshine Prince Hotel great stuff , the best part it was connected to the Sunshine Mall which was even better . They have their own 24 hour connivence store which they had great food and snack . When I go back to Japan I will definitely go back to the hotel . It was very big and enough space and room for 3! This is my usual hotel for tokyo stay. The hotel is linked to sunshine city and connecting malls. Lots of food options, nearby supermarket, airport limousine stop and tokyo characters store. 10mins walk to Ikebukuro Station and have quite a few major lines. Room size is alright. Overall would stay if travel to Tokyo.

One of the worst check-ins in Japan, especially if you have a car and planning to come at night.

We arrived at the hotel late, and asked the hotel staff about the parking. He gave us the instructions to enter the car park, we went in and because it was late, all the entrances were closed and we couldnt find a way to get out of the carpark. The car park was hot and big and there were literally no instructions to get out.

We drove out (Paid to get out) and asked the hotel staff, and he accused us of not looking. There were literally no instructions. He finally took us and showed us the carpark exit (It was impossible to find underground). it was late and it took us 30 min to park and check in.

So drivers and those who will arrive after the mall closing hours, beware.

The Sunshine City Prince Hotel is located about 9 minutes from the Ikebukuro Train Station. It's 45 years old. The rooms are small; the windows are small (including the highest 'view' floors). The bathrooms are elevated about 6-7 inches from the floor of the rest of the room, which is higher than most here. My wife tripped the first three times coming out of the bathroom. The air conditioner control only has Off and three air volume levels, with no temperature adjustment. The bed was the most comfortable one we experienced while there. The safe is very small. They provide two Nespresso capsules and two bottles of water daily.

The check-in took more than 45 minutes starting at 3:30 on a Saturday/holiday weekend. The aided self-check in kiosks as well as reception took about 10 minutes per person as did checking in at reception. They charged a 200 yen per day tax in addition to what I'd paid Expedia. This transaction alone took about 5 minutes.

The breakfast buffet can be purchased for 20,000 yen if purchased with the hotel room, or 30,000 in person. Don't bother. The food was mediocre at best, the selection small, and the dining facilities old and dated. The staff didn't keep up with refilling the coffee beans in the coffee machines, the pastries, most food items, or cleaning the tables.

There is a single ice machine & laundry on Floor 6 where you can wash for 300 yen and dry for 100 yen.

On the up side, the hotel has a Family Mart & mall access.
