The building sits on a major thourough fare. Much strreet noise in the east side rooms. Your reservation system does not include a room selection on the west side (lake view side). Much more quiet but also a little more expensive.

The hotel is in the business district which has much paid street and lot parking. That is a good advantage for free parking at the hotel.

For what it is and what you are paying this is a great hotel. The hotel is under renovation so the indoor pool and the bar area were closed but that wasn’t a big deal. The rooms were clean and updated. You are right in the heart of the town which is great. You can walk to the beach in just a few minutes. When they are done remodeling the hotel I think this will be a real gem. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to spend a few days in St Joseph.

The hotel room had no full length mirror which was very surprising and the ac was so loud it sounded like a motorcycle when it kicked on. The bathroom door had holes in it. The breakfast was very basic. But well stocked. We did love the balcony such a pretty view at sunset.

The location was perfection. The people were nice and the bedding was very clean. However, it felt like it USED to be an awesome hotel that has just seen better days. The TVs/mattresses were really cheap and bad quality, but they seemed like they were trying their best with what they had. I feel like this would have been the best place if I were in my twenties.
I wouldn’t stay there again, but I would recommend to my younger cousins or to families with little kids…

The hotel has come a long way since it reopened, and the new owners are doing it right. We continue to be happy to stay at Silver Beach Hotel. The location is amazing. The free hotel parking is invaluable especially since St. Joe has implemented paid parking downtown. No worries if you stay at SB! You can walk everywhere. The rooms are just right for a summer trip. The staff is friendly and kind. Good place, good times, and a good value.

This property definitely needs some upgrades. It is dated and dirty. We stayed in a double queen room, and the beds were decent. One of the beds was quite comfortable and the pillows and sheets were nice. Our doom was on the sexond floor and we had a small patio with some water views. The location was great for getting to the beach and shops.

Overall this place is ok but the location is why we would stay again. There plenty of parking and it’s easy to walk to the beach. It’s right at the end of the main shopping street so walking everywhere is super convenient. The room is in ok shape. Overall it was clean. The bed was clean and was ok. I’ve slept on much better but it wasn’t terrible either. The tv signal was bit the best, the picture was grainy and the remote would sometimes work and sometimes we’d have to get up and manually change channels. We ended up just streaming shows on our iPad, so the wifi worked good enough for us for that. The bathroom has no fan so after 4 people showering the walls and ceiling were dripping and you could see the cracked and bubbling areas of the walls where it was not going to hold up. The rear of the building faces a busy street which could get pretty noisy. We were missing amenities in our bathroom and the staff were very helpful in retrieving soap and towels, etc. The pool is not yet open. We did not try the breakfast. My son checked it out and said it was just some muffins and bread and microwaveable breakfast sandwiches. Still something if you’re in your way out but we opted to eat out for breakfast. The place looks like it is still gradually getting fixed up. Overall it’s an affordable option for a night or 2. I don’t think I could stay longer than that here.

The pool was still closed,the bar was closed. Trash was on the floor by the trash can on the 6th floor for over a day. The floors in the elevator were sticky and the shower head was shooting water out of the glass of the shower and soaked the floor. Was nit as nice as the pics online. The location was the only plus.

Pool was out of order for maintenance. Which was a BIG reason for choosing this site for 5 nights. Location was wonderful. Room was clean except for floors. More spacious than expected. Little balcony was a cute touch. Continental breakfast was great on the weekend, during the week it was like it was only what was left over from the weekend. Very lacking and disappointing. Elevators were very quick but terribly filthy and unsanitary. We actually left a day early due to the pool being close and checked into someplace else with an available pool.

Location is great for walking downtown. I would have liked a mirror in the bedroom area and not just on the wall over the sink in the bathroom. A full-length mirror would have been nice anywhere. The bathroom mirror had a light built in all around the border, however, it did not work. Staff said that the electrical hookup was not possible. So when you think you're getting a nicely lit up mirror and defogger, you're not. Also, not very many outlets in the bedroom area...mostly just one outlet on the lamps. Not a fan of the Pine-sol smell and that's what the hotel smelled like most of our stay. Somehow, the bar that you put across the door after you close it to keep people from breaking in was engaged when we went out and closed the door. So we couldn't open it due to the stopper. The manager opened the door as much as he could and took one of the do not disturb signs and flipped the bar back in place so we could open the door. Not very secure, if you ask me.

This hotel is a little rough and in need of updates but the staff was welcoming, the room was clean and it was inexpensive. The TV was grainy and old, the updated mirror didn’t work (wouldn’t turn on) and although both the fridge and microwave worked, I did have to move the microwave so I could plug it in. Housekeeping only gave us new towels and emptied trash but didn’t make the beds. Overall, it was simply “okay” and a clean place to sleep.

The room was great the staff were kind. The only thing is we put the do not disturb sign on the door but the cleaning staff still try to attempt to come in. If it wasn’t for secure lock on the inside to stop the door from opening up all the way they would have came in. First time it happened it can be overlooked but than it happened again the following day. So what’s the point of putting the door hanging sign “Do not disturb “. That’s all. Otherwise it was great!

Location, location, location! The rooms were fine but after housekeeping didn’t come one day, we asked that they come the next and they only brought new towels. We were out of coffee and I had to call down because my daughter was napping and they brought me 7 coffee cups but no coffee. They were very nice and pleasant but there was a language barrier. Still very strange that the housekeepers did not bother to refill our coffee. That is my only complaint, otherwise I would stay here again because the location is perfect! The mini fridge was perfect in the room too! We did not have a microwave in our room as advertised but we didn’t need one.

Overall this is a really great hotel! We stayed in a beautiful and wonderful room with a great view of the lake. The front desk staff was very helpful and nice. My only complaints are that the pool was out of order, a few of the machines in the gym were out of order, and the breakfast was a bit boof, with a limited selection. I expected more from the amenities due to how much we paid to stay here. Just some food for thought! Truly a great hotel, just would love some improvement in the aforementioned areas! Also, I have to know why there were birds in a cage at the front desk. Who do these birds belong to?

Accidentally booked the wrong date i needed the day before contacted hotels.com right away. They attempted multiple times to contact the hotel and so did I with no answer phone, email, & support chat. I lost out on $150 plus in a matter of seconds. My family goes everywhere to the beach & stays here and recommended it. I told them about it and they will be moving to the other hotel in town now as we don’t recommend someone who can’t even answer the phone.

Staff were friendly and location is great for visiting the surrounding area. Place was recently sold and renovated, but it's still a work in progress. Rooms on the south west side have cool views to the beach and river. Parking gets crowded, especially with visitors who aren't hotel guests. Room had some broken bathroom tiles and elevator glitched while we were on it. At the end of the day, it's an affordable place that puts you close to town and the beach.

I have stayed at several budget-friendly independent motels over the years on business travel, and unfortunately this was one of the worst experiences I've had.
The bathroom sink contained hair and dried droplets of a red substance, which immediately raised concerns about cleanliness. While I cannot say with certainty, the condition of the bed also gave the impression that the bedding may not have been changed between guests and had simply been remade.
Another significant concern was the balcony. There was no divider between adjoining rooms, allowing neighboring guests direct access to each other's sliding doors and balcony areas, lacked security.
In addition, there was a strong, unpleasant smell throughout the hallway on our floor that persisted for the entirety of our stay.
The property's location was the primary reason we chose it, and unfortunately it was the only positive aspect of the experience. We left extremely disappointed with both the condition of the property and the overall stay. For a small difference in price, I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel.

Cons: There was still hair on the shower wall, so it clearly wasn’t cleaned. Another guest said their room was dirty and got another room instead. Shower water took a long time to heat up.

Pros: only a 12 minute walk to silver beach. Breakfast sandwiches were yummy. Downtown is right next to the hotel. Overall, we would stay again due to the closeness of the beach and the walkability to everything we wanted to see and do. Plenty of parking. Comfortable beds.

My kids were excited about the pool, but it was closed. I ask the front desk and he said that it says online that the pool is closed. It says that the pool is closed through May 31 online or I would not have booked this hotel. It looked like there has been some updates in some parts, but some of the hotel is dated. The balcony is very small. It was NOT clean. It’s a great location for walking to shops, restaurants and the water.

The location of the hotel is amazing and it is pet friendly! The parking lot for the hotel was easily accessible, but there was only one ramp away from the door to enter. It made it quite tricky to get our belongings that we transport in a wagon into the building. The room was clean upon first sight, but the floors were gross and there were dead bugs smooshed on the walls in multiple places. The bathroom was okay, but the toilet would not stop running almost the entire time we were there no matter how hard we jiggled the handle, took the tank top off to adjust things, etc. For a small night away it does the trick, for longer stays we would find another. It felt more like a family owned and in lived in rather than a getaway hotel.

I was highly satisfied with my stay at this hotel. The room was an impactful condition. Everything clean and modern. I asked the staff for extra shampoo and budgies, which they had no problem to accommodate. The staff was very friendly, especially the young man at the service desk. I loved how convenient it was to the strip and the beach. We had great restaurant options. I would highly recommend this hotel for anybody that’s coming to this area. Breakfast was nice, they had self serve breakfast sandwiches, bagels, yogurt, and fruit. Along with juice and coffee.

The best part of this Hotel is the location. There is so much to do within a short walking distance. You honestly don't even need a car, but the parking lot has plenty of room. Incredibly easy to take a quick break in the room between activities throughout the day. The balconies are nice to have, and the lake view is pretty decent with only a few buildings and trees to obscure. The St joseph swing bridge is also viewable if you're into that, I like watching the trains so its a huge plus for me. The room looked and smelled clean, and had all the necessities. The staff are friendly and always ready to help. Other guests were super nice as well. I feel like I should also add that their elevators are amazing. It might be a strange detail, but I couldn't help but notice how quite, smooth, and quick these elevators were. This is my favorite place to stay in St Joseph.

We asked for lake view and were placed on 7th floor. I expected a little more view of the water but we could still see it. Great location and extremely close to food and things to do. Our main room area was very clean. Most of the bathroom was clean. Unfortunately it looked like someone had gone to the bathroom and the toilet was not cleaned. Some hair in the shower drain. While it did take a bit for the water to heat up, once it did - HOT! We loved that we didn't have to take cold showers like so many other hotels run out by 8am.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, but unfortunately the property itself appears poorly maintained. It felt like ownership was cutting costs by doing only the bare minimum to keep the hotel operating. The hotel description and advertised amenities were misleading, especially regarding the “continental breakfast.” Breakfast consisted mainly of stale breads and fruit, watered-down coffee, and old frozen breakfast sandwiches that appeared far from fresh.

The rooms and bathrooms had numerous cracks, holes, and visible signs of wear. While there have clearly been attempts at renovation, they felt more like temporary cosmetic fixes rather than meaningful improvements. The property and surrounding location seem to have a rich history and a lot of potential, but sadly it appears there is very little care or investment being put into preserving it by the current ownership.

Stayed at the Silver Beach Hotel for a getaway to St. Joseph and the biggest highlight was definitely the location. You’re within walking distance to Silver Beach, downtown shops, restaurants, the carousel, and the waterfront which made everything super convenient. The views and overall area are beautiful.

The hotel itself seems to still be going through renovations/updating. Our room was comfortable overall and the beds were decent, but there were a few areas that could use more attention and maintenance. Staff was friendly during our stay and parking was easy which was a plus. And yes dog friendly!!!

We were at the hotel 5 minutes before we turned around and left. The entire hotel smelled like an institution.
The lobby was bright and up to date but once we got onto our floor the flooring and walls were old and out of date.
We paid premium for a water view which I guess technically there was if you stood to the very close to the window and angled all the way to the right you could see Lake Michigan over a building.
We left knowing we wouldn’t be refunded by hotels.com and went to a different hotel.
Do not book this hotel the pictures and description are totally misleading.

Talked to management about our stay and to get room service in to clean floors, never cleaned floors and management gave me a run around about helping. writing down all the issues to help with a percentage off our stay and didn't follow through with it at checkout. Do not recommend, way over priced for the product. Can air bnb 3 mins away and have a way better experience for same price or cheaper. Awful stay, not accommodating.

The location was excellent and I think that is what you pay a lot for. The Hotel itself is tired and in need of renovations. The first room we were in, the toilet was not working and the staff did respond quickly and put us in another room with a working toilet. The continental breakfast was very scant and although breakfast sandwiches were mentioned by staff on checking in, other than toast, bagels and peanut butter and jam, nothing else. No hot portion like eggs or bacon or sausage. The bed was extremely comfortable though and had a good night sleep. And as I said, the location right downtown and walking distance to all downtown activities, amenities and restaurants and pubs. Plenty of parking at the hotel. If not for the location though, I wouldn’t pay more than half the price of what I actually paid for this hotel.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had an incredible view of the river. The rooms appear to have recently been remodeled and I slept soundly in the comfortable bedding. Amazing location with ample parking.
