The hotel staff were very friendly and made us feel at home and very welcome. The hotel was lovely, quiet, with proper fires and excellent Chesterfields to relax and chat on. The selection at the small bar was very good, I enjoy a good whisky when relaxing and they had a good selection. Our room was a good size, just right for us, the bed was comfortable and the room was warm. It had all of the usuals expected, tea coffee etc. the dinning room was also lovely, the food was excellent, perfectly cooked and prepared plus a nice wine selection too which suited us.

A joy to stay with Elena and her team. A cosy property with more of a guest house vibe than a full-service hotel experience - but all the more enjoyable for that.

The castle has a great gastro-pub just a 3-minute walk away in the village.

Lovely cooked breakfast in the hotel,

Ideal for a short stopover or to explore the area. Perfectly quiet and easily accessible by car or taxi from Newcastle airport.

If you want to escape the formality of modern travel and. slow down a bit... Otterburn Castle.

Fantastic family run hotel

We had a wonderful stay and the evening meal was excellent - highly recommended and very good value. Breakfast was also excellent. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge and bar and service was friendly and very good, the staff are all great and very welcoming. The grounds are pretty and the room was very good size and bed was comfortable. I would definitely stay here again and can highly recommend a stay here.

Lovely Castle Hotel in Otterburn, Northumbria

Just had a wonderful stay at The Otterburn Castle Country House Hotel.

Lovely grounds and despite it only being 9th Feb the woodlands and grounds were overed in snowdrops indicating Spring is not far away. At this time of year we stayed ahead of season and there were not too many people here. There is a small bar area and a lovely old world lounge where we sat before and after our evening meal with a few glasses of wine in front of a log fire.

The hotel only has about 17 rooms so you are never going to feel overwhelmed, our room was a select room with four poster bed. Lovely and clean.

We just stayed the one Saturday night but we had heard that the food was very good and it did not disappoint. Both our starters and main courses were excellent. My wife paid a small supplement to have the steak and she insists it is one of the best she has had. I had the Burger and it really was excellent and again one of the best I have had. The chips were of the 3 times cooked really brown type - gorgeous - and I should also mention the onion rings that were real onion and not mush. The main meals really were very good indeed.

Breakfast was also fantastic. Really nice Bacon and the Sausages were quality. The Hash Browns were to die for the best I have tasted, really crunchy and the Mushrooms melted in the mouth - a fantastic breakfast.

This is a family run hotel and the staff fell over themselves to make our stay memorable.

We had a totally fantastic meal and stay.

We enjoyed a lovely one-night stay in Otterburn after a day viewing the Roman Army Museum and Hadrian’s Wall nearby. The service at the hotel was exceptional, the room was spacious, and the charm of this historic house was evident throughout. Highly recommend!

An old castle in England, what more do you want. The staff were very attentive and very pleasant. Even with a fire alarm in the middle of the night (false alarm) they were pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing both for dinner and for breakfast.

A very friendly staff, in a historic and impressive property in beautiful grounds.
Unfortunately, we encountered lots of maintenance issues: leaky and noisy taps in an old fashioned bathroom, lumpy mattress and old pillows, small temperamental television. Charming old furniture, but not very comfortable… a shame, as this hotel has the potential to be truly unique..at the moment though, definitely NOT a 4 star rating…

Wonderful in every way!

Absolutely amazing stay in every way. The staff were all so friendly - Elena was so kind and helpful when checking us in & out, Alex was an amazing server at dinner and was also very polite, and also a thank you to Ivan and Debbie for serving great drinks and making up our room so well. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely return as soon as we can. The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the front gardens, and the castle overall is simply beautiful and in a very peaceful, quiet location. Really romantic. 10/10, definitely recommend.

The state of the bathroom was very disappointing, it was very dated with a loose tap on the sink with slow intermittent flow of cold and hot water. In the shower, the rising rail was loose with the shower flex very dirty in places, grime around the bath and sink. The shower pressure water was but a trickle, thankfully it lasted for us to get washed.. Downstairs and all the rooms were lovely, but let down very badly by of the bathroom.....Sorry too expensive for what you get in return.....................

This is a really lovely hotel. Stunning on the outside as well as the in. I loved the old vintage furniture in the bedrooms - especially my huge mirrored wardrobe. A family of 15 of us went and we all loved it. I especially loved the staff at this hotel. Such friendly, lovely, personable people. It really makes a difference to be able to have a laugh with the staff. Breakfast was great. Thanks for having us.

The service throughout was excellent, for a family concern managing such a large estate is truly commendable!! We had a one night stay which was last minute. The castle and owners are wonderful. The owners could not do enough for you. So friendly and caring. We would definitely recommend. It was our puppy’s first trip away from home and the hosts made her feel equally welcome. Breakfast was perfect. Bed was comfy. A very relaxed stay.

A castle that feels like a welcome home.

Fabulous! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. From the minute we arrived we saw the beautiful castle, when we stepped through the door we were welcomed by a log fire and a warm reception from staff. The castle is fabulous but it is the hotel staff that truly make this place, we felt so welcome and looked after throughout our stay. The food for our evening meal and our breakfast was delicious, using fresh, high quality produce. It was a milestone trip for my family and I have to say the warmth of the hospitality we received will remain a very treasured memory for us all. Thank you!

A lovely characterful family run hotel in tranquil Northumberland.

Our hosts couldn't be better, even contacting us before check-in to see whether we wanted a dinner reservation.

The hotel was easy to find and parking available in front of the hotel. Check-in was simple and the room spacious.

Being an old property the floors are uneven and creak, but that's what you expect for something that's been around, in one form or another, since 1086.

The dinner was delicious, with a fair selection of wines to accompany it, and the breakfast hearty.

We will return the next time we need to stay in the area.

The room was a little tired and needed some tlc, however the bed was comfortable and all the facilities worked . Breakfast was excellent and the service was very good.
