I gave this hotel 5 stars, mainly because the woman who managed the place. I booked this on hotels.com, and there are many amenities listed that do not exist. There is no bar, even though there is a menu in the room advertising beer for sale. I also saw no bikes for use, and the airport transportation was the manager arranging a taxi for you. That being said, the room was good, and the ac was nice. The breakfast was delicious. The location was great! The morning market was right out the gate, and the night market was right down the street. The manager saved us lots of money by arranging transportation and alternatives to the tours to see some of the sites. They also had inexpensive laundry service.

I’d happily stay here again

I very much enjoyed my stay at Golden Lotus Place. It was close to the river, and just a one minute walk to the night market. The morning market is right outside. Despite this it’s very quiet in the room. There was a set menu for breakfast, with twelve choices. I was happy with this.
It’s also very close to the main tourist strip of old town.

Our check in was seamless. The front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly. The location is very central and perfect for walking to the morning and night markets. However, the sheets and towels in our room had brown stains on them. That made us uncomfortable and we were grateful to only be staying one night.

Staff was very friendly, but extremely limited communicating in English or German. My room was next to reception and al fresco breakfast area and I was never able to open the shades to let in daylight. Place is conveniently located and walking distance to day and night markets, restaurants and the rivers. It is a good place for budget travelers.

We enjoyed staying at the Golden Lotus Place. It's a lovely authentic hotel in the heart of the old town, very close to the National Museum, Phousi mountain, the night market and the morning market. The delicious breakfast was lovely in the courtyard outside, with morning market stalls right there in front of us :). The staff were very welcoming and super-helpful, speaking both English and Vietnamese for our bicultural family, recommending places to go and helping with shopping suggestions, and ordering a taxi to the airport when we left. Very recommended for a genuine Lao experience.

It's an excellent location to experience Luang Prabang. It's very close to where the tuk tuk drops you off after the slow boat too.

The staff were really helpful, and sorted some train tickets for us at the last minute. They were very transparent about the commission they'd take for it, which was very reasonable.

Rhonard is the main man.

Got a great welcome from Rhonard on arrival filled us in on where to eat and drink in Luang Prabang. Nice room with good bathroom. Good housekeeping with clean towels everyday. Hotel is neat and tidy. Breakfast is superb Rhonard goes out of his way to help with everything. You can watch the world go by the market as you leisurely dine. Hotel is central for everything you need easy to walk to all things you need in LB. To avoid the chaotic night market turn left out of hotel and eat in the restaurants by the side of the Mekong.
Great place to stay in LB. Highly recommended.

Pros: they have a few tv channels include fox so I was able to watch Wimbledon there ;)

Cons: Air conditioner right upper your head position while slerp!!!!! To fix it, I just used the duvet to cover my head while sleep, I got a fever(not sure if that was related or not) at the end of my stay. If the hotel could do something about the air conditioner position, that would be super nice and appreciated!!!

P.S. Before my stay, I had read previous reviews about this hotel, I was expected some Lao hospitality as previous guests mentioned it so good. However, during my 4 nights stay, I didn't experience much or get to meet the owner... maybe just my case...

The hotel is in a great location but the staff don't even speak Lao well. Only the man whom I think the family leader greeted me at my arrival and gave me little info about the place but the other family members tried to avoid talking to their guests...The a/c wasn't work well at all and still there're some drawing made probably by their kids on the room's wall and that make the room look a bit dirty.

We stayed eight nights in late Feb/early March 2019. The lady owner couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming, even though her English is limited.The location couldn't have been better as it is on one of the small lanes that become the morning market each day, so you can eat your ample breakfast behind a see- through hedge and watch the early morning local shoppers file past outside in a quiet peaceful way.The power shower was excellent and the towels were changed every day. We did have trouble getting to the guest house on the first day as the shared taxi took us to the Golden Lotus River View Hotel first on the Nam Khan road, so be clear about Golden Lotus PLACE, it needs clearer signs on both ends of the lane, and a sign from the Mekong road would be a great help on first arrival. Once we knew where it was it was so easy to walk around town, and the night handicraft market is just metres away on the main street at the end of the lane.The bed was a bit firm, but we slept well, I needed my portable solar lamp to read by at night as the lighting was dim, but I am in my late 60's so travel prepared to read with dim lighting. There was a hot water heater in the room so we could make a warm cup of tea first thing, and a hair dryer and soap and shampoo were provided, as was drinking water. If we return to the town we would happily stay there again.Many thanks

Bill runs this lovely guesthouse. On arrival you receive a welcome drink of fresh fruit juice, and the free breakfasts are some of the best we've had in Laos. Just be aware that only Bill and his wife speak English, but you can ask his staff to find him for you. It's also opposite a monastery (like almost everywhere in Luang Prabang), so you'll hear the morning wake up call. But Bill was very helpful, and the location is right near the night and morning markets.

Communication was a bit of a problem but they went the extra mile for us when we arrived and were not treated fairly by the airport taxi that did not take us straight to our destination. They walked to where we were and castigated the driver and carried our luggage. Our arrival was so late there was nowhere handy to eat so the owner made us up a breakfast (at no cost) to get us settled for the night. Great location: the morning market is right along the street in front of the Golden Lotus Place; there were more than enough activities within walking distance of the hotel to keep us happy for 4 days.

Dishonest, rude owner + noisy building work, AVOID

When we arrived for check in, despite booking months ago, we were told that the hotel was fully booked and taken to another hotel a few minutes away. I told the owner that I was unhappy with this, we had booked months ago and should be given the accommodation we had booked but he told me the other accommodation was full and we couldn't stay there. The alternative accommodation was new with building work still going on so it was noisy. I was eventually given a refund for one night, he later changed his mind and shouted at us and us to leave the hotel with one night still to go and nowhere to stay! It was such a bizarre experience, he was rude and really quite scary.

Is a small guesthouse , location is good and clean . But the WiFi is not working on 2nd floor where our room is. The hotel staff is very friendly but can’t really speak English. The breakfast choice is very limited compared to other guesthouse we stayed. The staff want us to wait at the lobby at 5.20am to collect the food for alms giving , but nobody appeared :(

Would Come Again

The host was very accommodating and gives you a free smoothie at your checkout, and it was delicious. Communication was difficult in English, however, the host speaks Vietnamese also and same with my girlfriend, so we were able to communicate well. I booked golden lotus for the night market. Got there and waited for 40 minutes in the living room. No one came out to greet me. Told the son to go tell his dad still nothing. I got mad and left. No one treat me this way. Rather take $ lost than stay there for another 40 min and miss out in night market. Terrible customer service. No one should ever go there.

I booked Golden Lotus on the strength of its reviews, and I was not disappointed. The location is down a small street almost next door to the Palace, and in the morning you literally step out into the Morning Market and, at night to the Night Market. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and having both an air conditioning unit and ceiling fan was especially appreciated at night, when I got too cold from the A/C but would turn on the ceiling fan and it would be perfect.

Located right at the morning market and so so close to the night market, centrally located Golden Lotus Place is right in the smack of things but yet stay reasonably quiet. The owners were superbly friendly and extremely warm and helpful. The rooms are of the right size with clean beds and ensuite with a good safe. Good shower heads for the showers. (Room 8 is extremely pleasing with windows on both sides) Breakfast was simple but pleasant; and there were a few choices. (My only complaint would be that the coffee is instant coffee but with cafes aplenty....not an issue)

It is not a 5 star establishment, but the service is definately 5 star. The family running the hotel ensures you have a good stay. The place id right in the middle of all the actions the town can provide : street shopping, street and restaurant f & b, coffee joints etc. If you love beer, give the local brews a go. You'll not regret it. Lovely larger.
The only drawback is that they only provide cooked breakfasts. They don't do lunches or dinners. Sufficient eateries nearby, so no worries.

The guesthouse has a lovely family feel to it, you really feel as though you are sharing the family home with the owner, but with all the privacy you could want. The owner (unfortunately I didn’t get his name) was exceptional. I’ve never had service like it and he really made our trip special. He sat us down on arrival and spent a brief 5 minutes showing us important points of interest and tourist attractions on a map. He also frequently brought freshly made and complimentary fruit shakes to our room. He organised trips and taxis for us. Even on the last day we needed a short ride down the road in a tuk tuk but he offered to drive us down on his motorbike. Absolute credit to the place. Location is also perfect, the morning and night markets are literally on your doorstep. There are lovely cafes and restaurants on the main road roughly 5min walk away. Overall couldn’t rate this guesthouse highly enough and Luang Prabang stole our hearts too.

My mom and I had a pleasant stay at this bed and breakfast place. The place is accessible to great destinations and attractions that this city offers- from great temples , morning and night market, alms ceremony ,etc . Welcoming guesthouse in a good location

Golden Lotus Place is down a lane off the main central road in Luang Prabang, next to the Wat Mai temple (which is very convenient for seeing the dawn alms-giving in a quiet location). The morning market is right outside, whilst the night market is on the main road less than a minute away. Unlike my experiences in Vietnam, I was not bothered by noise from either.

Bill Nguyen and his wife give a very warm welcome to their guesthouse, and Bill's good English means he is very helpful. They serve a made-to-order breakfast in the mornings, and always welcome you back to the guesthouse with a glass of refreshing juice when you've been out for the day.

The facilities are obviously basic, but the air conditioning in my room was effective, there was a ceiling fan as an alternative, and the bathroom was large and functioned well. The large bed was quite firm but comfortable.

This was an excellent, friendly base for seeing Luang Prabang, and I only wish I had spent more of my holiday here rather than in overhyped Hoi An.

We had an amazing stay with Tung at the Golden Lotus Place. It is located in the middle of everything! The morning market is literally outside the front gate and steps away from the night market. Fresh cooked-to-order breakfast each morning with fruit was wonderful. We were offered welcome drinks and fresh fruit to cool off after our arrival. The rooms are squeeky clean and the wifi works at all times. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. Stay here in Luang Prabang!

Nice and quality guest house in Luang Prabang

The team at Golden Lotus Place was extremely welcoming when I arrived and took the time to make sure that I was hydrated, had a snack, and was oriented in Luang Prabang before I went out to meet friends for dinner. They went out of their way to make sure I was all set with breakfast before heading out early, and they went out of their way to help me get my luggage onto a tuktuk when I was heading out for my flight. It is right near the Royal Palace, Mount Phousi, and the night market, which are all great fun to explore no matter how many times you've been in Luang Prabang. I'll just note two things: you may want to avoid the main street when returning to the hotel as the night market is setting up or in full swing, because it's very crowded, and keep in mind that most guest houses and some small hotels in Luang Prabang usually close doors and lock up around midnight, so if you'll be out late let the guest house owner know ahead of time and make sure you get back in without waking any of the other guests up.

Amazing little hotel!

Loved loved loved our stay at Golden Lotus! Bill, the manager, was so welcoming and helpful. He arranged a trip to the Kuang Si waterfalls for us and took us to the monk almsgiving with him. The hotel itself was lovely. It's on a little alley between the morning market and the night market, and right next to one of the top three monasteries in the town. Breakfast was amazing and we received a delicious plate of fruit as a welcome treat. I cannot recommend this hotel enough! We'll definitely stay here again if we return to Luang Prabang.

Beautiful oasis in Luang Prabang

This is an excellent guest house right in the middle of Lp. the facilities are perfect in the room with both a fan and powerful aircon.

Bill is the perfect host, greated us by name as I walked into the guesthouse and provided fresh iced drinks for us in the heat.

Nothing was too much trouble for our host who was always smiling.

I can highly recommend Golden Lotus Place.... from the huge bed to the lovely breakfast it was excellent!

Location, staff everything fantastic.

Awesome manager Bill ran the hotel. Such a courteous and helpful person. Nothing too muc trouble. Great breakfast. Great fresh juices. Helpful advice. Had motorbikes and bicycles at hotel. Night market at end of street (20 metres) morning market right past the front door.
Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

2カ所経営されていて近くの別の所へ案内された。ゲストハウス特有の窓はあるが開けると網戸だけでエアコンを付ける状態になり、ほぼ、閉めた状態でした。たまたま、隣が工事中でした。あとはスタッフを含め良かったです。

Super god og central placering med morgenmarkedet lige uden for hotellets terrasse.

Et morgenmarked der stilfærdigt summede af hverdagsliv og var charmerende og autentisk.

Personalet var venligt.

Værelserne var okay men manglede opbevaringsplads til tøjet.

スタッフの方は親切でいつも笑顔で接してくれた。

部屋は若干古く、上の階の音が結構響いてくるなど、設備面では少し不満もあったが、レンタルバイクや空港行きの乗り物も手配してくれて、全体的には満足出来た。
ナイトマーケットや托鉢の場所にも近く、立地的にもよかった。
またルアンパバーンに行く時は泊まりたいと思える良い宿泊地でした。

Gemütliches Hotel in zentraler Lage

Sehr schönes, kleines Hotel Mitte im Geschehen (Morning Market) aber trotzdem ruhig. Der Besitzer ist sehr nett und spricht English. Die Zimmer sind sauber und haben AC und Ventilator. Ich sehe kaum Unterschiede zu den teueren Hotels in Luang Prabang, man hat hier alles, was man braucht, und die Lage ist echt zentral und nah an allem. Das Früstück ist inklusiv (Obst, Eier und Getränk). Danke und ich komme bald wieder!

Friendly hotel im the mornimg market

This is a small and friendly hotel literally in the middle of the morning market, but it is not noisy. You can have breakfast watching the sellers (nice breakfast with fruit, eggs and drink is included). The rooms are nice and clean, there is also a flatscreen TV. Nice owner who speaks English, Thank you, I will come back soon!

Une des meilleures adresses à Luang Prabang, à taille humaine. L'hôtel est situé idéalement, à côté du marché de nuit (mais en dans une rue perpendiculaire en retrait, qui le matin accueille un marché de produits frais pour les laotiens). Le charme de l'authentique et les avantages touristiques...
Le personnel, spécialement le manager, Tom, est extrêmement sympathique, serviable...et honnête ! Je recommande très chaudement !

博物館、ナイトマーケット、托鉢もホテルから徒歩数分、自転車も無料でレンタルでき、スタッフの対応も良かったですが、当初案内された部屋には冷蔵庫なし、冷蔵庫有の部屋にチェンジしてもらいました。部屋、設備は古く洗面台も詰まっていて水が抜けまるのに時間がかかりました。

Excellent point du chute pour être en plein cœur de la vie de Luang Prabang (marche de jour, marche de nuit, temples, etc.) tout en étant dans un endroit tranquille. Et le personnel est gentil, accommodant et serviable!

受付に人がいないことが多く、口コミに記載のあったウエルカムドリンクはなく少し残念な感じでした。
スタッフは裏のクィーンズハウス (Queen's House)と兼任のようで、朝食もクィーンズハウスでの朝食でした。
ロケーションは抜群でホテルの目の前がモーニングマーケットで、ナイトマーケットも徒歩1分以内で、主要な観光場所にほとんど歩きで行けます。
ランドリーサービスがあり、朝出すと夜受け取れました。ホテル内でのツアーやレンタル関連は今はやっていないようでした。

東南アジアのホテルに慣れている人であれば、エアコンも暖かい水の出るシャワーもあり便利だと感じますが、アリが苦手な方や水回りの清潔さを気にする人には不向きかと思います。ドライヤーやガイドブック、タオル、水が付いていたことは助かりました。シャンプーや歯ブラシはないので必要であれば近くの売店で買う必要があります。空港から出ているバイク(定額有料)でホテルまで向かってくれますが、私が着いた時は夜でナイトマーケットがあったため大通りで下ろされてしまいました。ホテルの看板が小さく出ていますが暗くて見えづらいため事前によく場所を確認しておくと良いかと思います。朝食はパンやフルーツボウルなどから選ぶことができ、飲み物もいただけます。ツアーの紹介がありますが、他のホテルに泊まっていた外国人観光客と情報を交換したところややどこも高値なようです。特にメコン川を下って洞窟を訪れるツアーはあまり値段に見合う体験ができませんでした。滝はおすすめです。

WAT MAIやナイトマーケットからは直近で、幹線道路から少し奥に入っているので夜は静かに過ごせます。朝は前の通りが市場になるので、市場の姦しさを背に朝食となります。

家のように寛げました。

宿の目の前の路地は朝のマーケット、その路地を抜けた道路はナイトマーケットの会場になっていて、とても観光しやすい場所です。反面、ナイトマーケットのために車輌が封鎖される時間は、宿の前まで車やトゥクトゥクで行くことができません。
4泊しましたが、毎日掃除はしてくれます。タオルの交換は2泊に1回、という感じだと思います。部屋はとても清潔に保たれており、WiFiも（たまに途切れますが）快適に使えました。お湯、エアコンも問題ありません。ラオスの宿には多いようですが、ここもトイレとシャワーには仕切りがありません。
到着時にはウェルカムドリンクでマンゴースムージーを出してくれました。滞在中も毎日出してくれた…という口コミもありましたが、私の時はありませんでした。朝食も色々選べて良かったです。
宿のスタッフも親切でしたし、家に帰ってくるような心地良さでした。宿から現地ツアーの申し込みもできます。
チェックアウト日は、チェックアウト時間（このサイトには12時とありますが、実際には11時です）近くまで部屋にいたのですが、部屋を出るとスタッフが目の前の廊下で清掃用具を持って座り込んでいました。私が部屋を出るのを待っていたようです。滞在自体は良かったので特にそのことを不満に思ったわけではないのですが、それを嫌だと思う人も居るだろうなとは思いました。
