The location is just outside the main strip, walkable distance to most things.

The hotel itself has a nice lawn and a pretty setting. The front desk service is excellent. Everyone was very welcoming.

The room was dated and a little bit on the dingy side. The white towels were more on the brown side and a little threadbare. The sink was slow to drain. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious.

The hotel itself was pretty and well-decorated. Overall I would stay again.

I can recommend this hotel enough. I booked this hotel for my last 2 nights in Asia to unwind/decompress before heading back to the US. I was impressed but the hotels attention to detail, and more importantly, how the pictures truly matched the hotel's real experience. Don't hesitate to make your booking.

We started our two week trip travelling through Lao, Cambodia, and Viet Nam at Angsana Maison Souvannaphoum and this is the hotel that gave us the most special memories. It was a little oasis at the end of a main street in Luang Prabang -- easy walking distance to temples, restaurants, markets, and the river, but was peaceful and beautiful. As far as we were concerned everything was perfect from the wonderful room with a generous balcony to the beautiful fabric artwork on the walls to the pool area sanctuary. Our highlights, though, were the staff -- so welcoming, helpful, and knowledgable -- and the restaurant where we ate every night because it felt like home. If it weren't a 20hour plane ride away, we'd visit more often.

A serene setting and great location

Beautiful and serene hotel in a quiet setting but just a 10-minute walk to the main part of town. Gorgeous guest rooms well-kept by an excellent cleaning staff. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the garden. The hotel staff is very welcoming. Daily breakfast buffet by the pool was always a treat.This is our third stay at this hotel and we will be back!

We have stayed here for three visits to Luang Prabang and would never stay anywhere else! The hotel is serene, welcoming, with a wonderful staff and fragrant gardens. It is only a pleasant 10-minute walk to the heart of Luang Prabang (or you could ride by tuk-tuk, since one always seems to be available outside the hotel). Very comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the garden, lovely open-air dining and breakfast room by the pool.Everything on the property is kept spotless.

We liked the traditional, classy building, in the middle of lush vegetation and the attention of the staff.
The rooms are a little to small, there are no electric socker in the bathroom and the breakfast is somewhat poor ( exception the last of 3 days,when there were more options) for the daily rate payed.

Nice property with a pool. Rooms were comfortable and free mini bar was a nice perk.
The room and bathroom could use some freshening up. Breakfast was good, if food was kept warm, even better. Driver costs were on the high side but otherwise the concierge was helpful. Had a nice spa experience, the masseuse was sensitive to my comfort and was very capable for a deep massage.

Superb location!!

Good location as it is away from the busy street yet is within walking distance to all the places of interest. Super friendly hotel staff never fail to wow us with all the help they have been providing as we experience some hiccups on some of the day tour that we have booked prior to the trip.

Very attentive staff and good massage environment. It was a total relax trip for us!

Thanks so much for all the staff in this resort!

First of all, let me address the fact that this is an older property, which has a few issues:
1. Water temperature in the shower could not be balanced out and fluctuated during the shower.
2. Wifi was not very strong and was dodgy at times.
3. Television channels cut out quite a bit.
4. Some parts of the building could use a bit of paint touch up.

That said, the quality of the service and friendliness of the staff more than compensated for the above inconveniences. My wife and I were impressed with the staff's eagerness to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay: the waiter even made suggestions for a morning excursion and took time out to arrange a driver for us. They assisted us in every need that we mentioned, with genuine smiles on their faces.

We ate at the hotel restaurant on three occasions and in every instance, the food was exceptional.

We also enjoyed the spa services, finding friendly staff that listened to the pressure requests.

All in all, this was an exceptional experience, and we will be happy to stay with them again next time we are in Luang Prabang.

Gorgeous hotel with great location

The Maison Souvannaphoum is a fabulous facility with incredibly comfortable rooms and a truly great shower. The breakfast is A++ with delicious bacon, baguettes, omelettes, cheese and salami, fruit and juice, coffee, and in short everything your heart desires. The picturesque pool is a treat on a hot afternoon. Location is terrific.

An amazing place full of charm, sufficiently isolated to offer peace and quiet whilst being a few minutes away from everything you need to go to in the area.

a wonderful stay being within 5 mins of the main street and yet away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel restaurant was of very high quality and standards and had enough choice for us to dine in for 4 nights!
The food outside was also very good especially the bakeries.

Welcoming and comfortable oasis

The staff at the hotel are welcoming and helpful. The grounds are very pretty. Loved the pool - great to cool off after a busy day exploring with a refreshing drink in hand. We had lunch at the restaurant one day, excellent food. A couple of small things in our room were not working on arrival, but were quickly tended to. Beds very comfortable. Room furniture seemed a little dated but perfectly fine. Balcony with a pleasant view over pool and pretty garden. Staff were very helpful arranging trips and giving advice. Air conditioner was a bit noisy and didn't seem to have a lower fan setting to reduce the noise, but overall we very much enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for 4 nights at this wonderful hotel. The staff were fantastic, from the manageress \" Lucky \" to the very enthusiastic young man who picked us up from the airport. The hotel is in a good area for a short walk in to the centre of Luang Prabang. The breakfast buffet was very good, the room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was well stocked with every thing you could need. The hotel pool is not the largest you will find , but was clean with linen provided and a small pool side bar . The free bike hire is a great idea, the town is small enough to cycle around easily even if you are not in peek physical fitness.

Lovely for a family.

We had a great stay at Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel. We've been traveling around south East Asia for 6 weeks with our 3 children mostly staying in 4 star accommodation. Although we found the accommodation in Luang Prabang to be a lot more expensive- I think what we received was excellent. The grounds are lovely, the pool relaxing and the food is great. You won't be disappointed. I would happily stay there again.

The location of this hotel is perfect. The client service here has been the best that we have ever received. Professional and friendly. The nightly bed turn down service and lighting of candles in the room was a nice touch. The addition of freshly ground coffee and a bodum in the room in addition to normal coffee and tea supplies was great.
The hotel spa service was fantastic and they have a lot of services to choose from and good deals to be had as well.
I would definitely stay here again.

A pleasant stay

Hotel was located at the non-busy section of a main road and sheltered by rows of plants all around for privacy. Bright Room with comfortable king bed, simple but thoughtful design and decorations incorporating the cultural traits of Laos. Spacious balcony with good view of garden but it was a bit hot and sticky to stay outside for long. Complimentary non-alcohol drinks in fridge including fruit juice and soft drinks, replenished periodically.

All the staff (front desk, spa, restaurant, house-keeping) was welcoming, warm and friendly and Reception staff took initiative to offer us towels for our day tours, advised on sight-seeing spots, and recommended restaurants nearby, which was all very helpful.

Also, we were asked to fill in reviews nearly from every Department – Front desk, Spa, Restaurant plus an overall review on all the hotel services before we checked out. Maybe just an overall review form given to guests upon check in would serve the purpose.

In conclusion, we had good impression of the hotel and had a very pleasant stay.

The staff at this hotel, couldn't do enough for you. Each and every member was polite courteous and helpful. The hotel facilities were wonderful as were the breakfasts and restaurant. There was always a tuk tuk waiting outside. Despite it being rainy season, we were able to do everything we planned.

Overall a good experience

Nice hotel, centrally located. Staff was fairly efficient. However, there were a lot of insects and lizards on the hotel premises. The hotel had provided mosquito repellant sprays which came in very handy. The toilets were clean and the toiletries were good.. But the flushing sysytem was not working well. Flush has to be pressed for atleast 45 seconds (no exaggeration here) till it functioned. No other complaint. Will surely recommend this hotel to friends.

There is plenty to see around the area. Some lovely temples and Phoussy Temple has spectacular views of Luang Prabang. The waterfall is well worth a visit and you have the opportunity to swim in the pools, very refreshing on a hot day. Many restaurants to chose from and all within easy walking distance. The night market has lots of local products and a little bargaining is always fun.

Fantastic hotel in Luang Prabang!

This is a lovely hotel in Luang Prabang that is close to everything. The staff are fabulous and the facilities are excellent. It is close to the night market and many other fun activities in the old quarter. The bikes that the hotel supplies make getting around town easy and fun. We stayed here with four teenagers and a good time was had by all.

Posh hotel with a great spa

The hotel was quite charming with colonial architecture, close to the night market and equipped with a great spa. The staff are friendly and efficient. However, the hotel is on a main road and its very noisy and you cannot escape the noise even when one is in the spa! I stayed there for 4 nights and used ear plugs every night. I think for the price I would next time chose a hotel closer to the Mekong river !

We stayed in this hotel for 3 days. Service was great, friendly and helpful staff, always pleasant. They gave us a lot of useful local information. The room was neat and clean, however the condition was a bit more run down than expected, when compared to other upscale hotels we had been staying during our Asia trip and amenities were lacking. The hotel is not located in a prime location, it is closer to where other backpackers stay but that was not a problem since the town is pretty small and it is easy to get around. Overall it was a comfortable stay.

Small oasis in LP

We stayed here for five nights. It is just outside the busy downtown/river front district hence quieter and have less traffic, but close enough, about 5 minutes walk, to the tourist night market, shops and restaurants. We also walked about 20 minutes to the local produce market, Phosy market after seeing the monks collecting the offering at 5:45 am. It was great to see the locals shop for the day's meals. The reception staff is very polite, attentive and knowledgeable. We took their 4pm bike tour thru downtown. It was fun and free of charge as well. The hotel offers free bicycle (with basket/lock/light) rental to go around town and we even took them to a hand craft village across a bridge 30 minutes away. The room we stayed was 2nd floor balcony room and it was comfortable and clean. Since there are only 24 rooms, the pool was never crowded and it was nice to come back from the day's adventure and have a refreshing swim. The little pool bar serves Lao beer, wine, cocktails and snacks. The Siam massage in their garden spa was excellent.

Wonderful vacation!

This hotel was lovely!!! Staff were fantastic, very accommodating. If traveling for business, the wifi was not very reliable - not a concern for me though. Pool is great, spa services were wonderful, food was delicious. Great location, walkable to everything. A/C worked great (and welcome after walking around all day!) Hot water did not work very well, but I'm not sure I would have used it much anyways. There is a bocce ball court in the front garden that was fun to use during happy hour too!

Not worth the money

We stayed here for 4 nights . The hotel is a quaint old colonial building . The rooms only have a shower and are a bit small but are clean . The breakfast is very basic and offers very little choice . The wifi is the worst I have ever espierienced and is next to useless . Whilst there is nothing wrong with this hotel or its staff it does not merit the cost of the stay and there really is nothing \"deluxe\" about it .

The hotel is lovely with a relaxing colonial feel to it, and the staff were very helpful and friendly with good English. They particularly helped us book a transfer from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the edge of the old town. The pool was very welcome at the end of a hot day exploring.

The staff were incredible & location is PERFECT

The staff were so kind. We checked out after one night to try another location for a little bit less money and the staff invited us to return at anytime to use the pool. After checking out another location it only confirmed how great this place was. The room is a decent size, not huge but with a very large bed, large TV and cozy bathroom. A nice little patio to sit outside on but it was too hot for that. Good A/C and delicious breakfast in the morning. Walking distance to the night market. Very quiet in the rooms.

A peaceful oasis

The hotel was a nice oasis in the middle of a busy downtown. The hotel grounds were particularly pleasing with large grassed lawns, with trees, flowers, statues, seats, etc. There was a nice pool, which was great to cool off after a day sightseeing in very hot and humid temperatures (May). The restaurant was open to the garden and pool area, casual yet elegant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel building itself was once the home of a royal family member and is very picturesque.

The hotel rooms themselves could use some upgrading. Beds and pillows are hard. Bathrooms are small and old and dimly lit. Would be nice if they could keep some of the old character, with new and practical characteristics.

Altogether though a pleasing hotel stay.

I loved the atmosphere of the hotel which was tranquil and relaxed. The rooms were lovely with good size balconies and the only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because the beds were a little hard. The staff were very sweet, friendly and helpful and the grounds were beautiful. It's well located - along the main road though slightly out of town. I'd definitely recommend it.

The hotel was very nicely designed and renovated. Very charming. The decor of the rooms was very nice and fun. Checkin and service overall was great; all the staff was very accommodating – they even packed me a breakfast for an early checkout I had. The pool is quite nice too, especially after the hot Laotian afternoons.

A charming boutique hotel in Luang Prabang

We had stayed at the hotel before it became an associate of an international group. It is a beautiful small hotel set in lovely gardens with the public areas in the former house of a famous Lao prince and politician. The rooms are spacious and well equipped and very well maintained. The staff are attentive and efficient and, from the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very much at home. The breakfast is excellent with a special touch being the traditional Lao broth of \"fur\" with a choice of ingredients cooked to order.

The hotel is slightly out of the centre but a five minute walk brings one to the main street. I can only say that the next time we are in Luang Prabang we will definately stay there. Highly recommended.
