A wonderful hotel, where the welcome is as warm as the weather.

Villa Maly is a fantastic Boutique hotel, with beautiful rooms and facilities and such a great place to unwind and relax.

The hotel is handy and convenient in a central location and walkable or a short taxi trip to the main shops, restaurants and the river.

The rooms, whilst slightly smaller than you'd get in a 'modern' hotel are well equipped, clean and very nicely presented.

The pool is awesome if you're visiting Luang Prabang when the weather is hot. A quick swim followed by a drink from the bar is the perfect way to wind down and chill out.

Colonial style hotel with refreshing swimming pool, outdoor restaurant w good food & buffet breakfast. About a 10 minute walk to night market The staff are accommodating & helpful. The bar is nice and well stocked. The rooms have good water pressure and are clean . Overall a pleasant stay at Villa Malay but our room had limitations for electrical & soundproofing I’m sure not every room is the same as this is a popular hotel . Thank you to the staff for making it a nice stay.

Above average hotel for the area.Great pool and bar area. Rooms adequate but the mattress was Asia hard!. Bathroom small but workable. Shower head was high enough(I am 190cm).

I enjoyed my stay at the Villa Maly, the staff was extremely courteous and professional. Accommodation was great, loved the old colonial plantation feel and ambiance. Nice breakfast spread as well. Great location and walkable to the night market, early dawn alms giving event, many dining and bar options along the main drag. I’d stay again if I’m visiting LP.

A delightful hotel with personal attention to detail and customer service. Great quiet location with an easy walk to town, very friendly and helpful staff, and a wonderful little restaurant. Very nice breakfast buffet and a good menu with Laotian and western food. I will definitely stay here again - I like smaller boutique hotels and this one definitely met all my needs. I highly recommend it!

Small bodegas for drinks and snacks + laundry service on the same little street. Only issue: Air conditioning was noisy, but it worked great. You will be satisfied.

Very Friendly Typical Lao warmth always from the staff. Quiet and beautiful setting. Restaurant very good. Very clean and comfortable room. A little out of the town centre but tuk tuks always at the hotel gate and in the cool of the evening it is a pleasant walk into the town. Definitely to be recommended but not for those on limited budget. Luang Prabang is expensive

We had a very pleasant stay at Villa Maly; the staff were outstanding, very friendly and very helpful, and eager to assist in all aspects. Our room was comfortable - bed was quite nice - and although we had some trouble with the ceiling fan, this issue was corrected after the first night.

The hotel grounds are quite lovely and well-kept; just \"enough jungle\" feel without being overrun with vegetation. Our food experience at the hotel was limited to a light dinner upon arrival and breakfasts, all of which were adequate. I did enjoy their selection of fresh juices at breakfast.

The location is good; it is off the main street in Luang Prabang, so nice and quiet with little street traffic noise. Easy to walk to main tourist areas, markets, etc., although the hotel offers free bicycles if you prefer (and umbrellas). Free van to pick-up and return to LPQ airport was a nice perk, too.

Think stepping back in time to a Humphrey Bogart movie. Villa Maly was the residence of a princess be fore becoming a hotel. Quiet but near everything. Love Luang Prabang and love this hotel. But don’t tell anyone so it stays as relaxing as it is.

Lovely welcome drinks and snacks. Good service, friendly and informative.
Good location - 15 minutes drive from the airport, 15 minutes walk to Indigo Cafe.
Beautiful setting and great to have the pool for a refeshing swim after a hot day exploring. The pool is super cold but was greatly appreciated! The decking is quite slippery to take care walking around. Several guests slipped after using the pool.
The room was confortable and clean. Bathroom was a little dated but clean and functioning. Very quiet rooms - we were on the ground floor and didn't hear any other guests.
Breakfast was very good. A little inconsistent - we were offered eggs on the first day and then not for the rest of our stay. But overall good selection of fruit, bread, pastries, cereal and a few hot items.
Overall, a solid 4 star hotel, and a very enjoyable stay.

Amazing Stay!

This is my first time staying in Villa Maly though I have been to Luang Prabang twice. I have to say I am very impressed with this old royal residence not only the quality of the hotel, the beautiful decorations but also the very professional and friendly services from their staffs. Also the location is great, it locates on a quiet side of the street but very safe and it's not that far from all the attractions. The free bikes they offer is a nice touch for their hospitality. I will definitely stay here again if I come back to Luang Prabang!

Nice Colonial style hotel close to everything.

The staff make you feel at home and cater to your every need. The pool is small but big enough and there are comfortable lounge chairs stocked with towels all around the pool.
The restaurant is small and intimate. They have a nice selection of entrees and do a great breakfast buffet.

Very thoughtful, phone chargers via USB was already in the room, thicker blanket readily available, there's always an extra bathroom tissue available & mosquito net (it's not just for decoration, I recommend for guest to utilize it every time you nap/sleep). Full complimentary breakfast, you can ask for omelette too. They are mindful of the environment. Clean rooms, staff acknowledges guest, but not enough to make you feel \"special\". Nice welcome with snack/drink. Hotel provides bike for guest. Night manager was informative. They let us to do a late check out since our flight was at 5pm but they cut off the wifi, which was not reliable for the most part anyway. I'm surprised by the lack of women working the reception & restaurant area, but maybe it's cultural. Safe was provided, but it's not vaulted down. Mosquito problem, but they do a nightly bug spray. Our overall experience was ok, nothing special (sad to say), I expected more but it is what it is.

Four nights in peaceful Luang Prabang

A lovely boutique hotel in a quiet area of Luang Prabang. Only a 10 minute walk to the main part of the town where the markets and restaurants are. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only small complaint is that the room was not cleaned properly as there was a layer of dust on some of the wooden surfaces. Also turndown service turned up after we were ready for bed at 8.45pm. Otherwise a very lovely stay even though weather was not the best.

Lovely place to stay if you find yourself in Luang Prabang. staff very attentive and friendly. Breakfast decent with lots of choice on offer and more importantly flexible serving time (up to 10am).
Really enjoyed the zen style garden through which the restaurant is accessed.

This was an incredibly relaxing getaway in a quiet, comfortable place, with great pool and great service. The in-house restaurant staff accommodated my dietary needs so I always enjoyed my (free) breakfast (full buffet) and evening dinner. What's not to love?!

I truly enjoyed my stay at Villa Maly. I will start from the begining. Making arrangements to be picked up was easy and the driver was there on time. Upon our arrival we were greeted with nice cold towel and a welcome drink which I thought was a really nice touch. The room was great. Not much room to move around but I went to my room to sleep not to do yoga! The hotel grounds is beautiful, very exotic. One side of my room was facing the pool area and one side faced the restaurant and the noise was never an issue. The staff is really nice. The general manager (the French lady) was really friendly and truly seemed to care for each guests. I was travelling with my 8 year old daughter and she LOVED the pool. I found the hotel to be well located, close the main street it's lacking a bit of restaurant choice (walking distance) but nothing is far with a Tuk Tuk.

My only negative comment is that the breakfast buffet lacked option. I think they could offer more. But what was offered was great.

I loved this place! It was beautiful & the staff were so friendly & helpful. I've stayed in nice hotels before but I've never been treated so well. Upon arrival they provide some treats & give you a map & a rundown of the local area & things to do before showing you to your room. As it's not peak season I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to a lovely room - it was stunning with wooden floors & a comfy four poster bed. Huge room & very clean. The pool was really nice & it was hard to leave the hotel to actually see the town! The staff went the extra mile & anticipated your needs. They had free bikes to roam around the town - I would definitely recommend this. With the wind as you ride you don't feel the heat as much & it's only 7 mins max across town to the point where the Mekong & nam khan rivers meet -not much traffic either so it's a really nice ride along the river. I'd recommend getting a massage at the hotel too - the facilities are beautiful & the higher price relative to the dingy looking places in town is well worth it in terms of feeling pampered. The night before I left they left a nice note in my room & a little souvenir, which was sweet. Beautiful hotel - I'd definitely stay here again & recommend it

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Maly. The room was spacious and you had the feeling you were in an old colonial home. They had coffee and tea in the room. They also had turn down service in the evening. The entire hotel was very clean. There is an abundance of staff caring for the grounds, the rooms, the pool, and the restaurant The breakfast was in a beautiful garden area with delicious, fruit, bread, omelettes, ect... The staff was very helpful in directing you to guides and restaurants. You are a 10/15 minute walk to the main part of town. The pool was refreshing after a day touring all the beautiful sites.

A very nice and relaxing hotel , set in lush grounds a short walk from the Main Street . The rooms were nicely furnished in a colonial style with a four poster bed. The breakfast was nice with plenty of choice , had a candle lit meal by the pool which was lovely. In general the hotel was an ideal base to enjoy Luang Prabang , only a short walk to the night market and temples. Would recommend a sunset cruise on the Mekong and a day trip to the waterfalls a truly relaxing place to visit.

Beautiful hotel and gardens around a pool.

Our stay was a good experience. Nice breakfast, good size room with high ceiling, air conditioned. The hotel also has a boat for dinner or lunch cruises on the Mekong which we recommend. The hotel is an arrangement of 4 or 5 two storey French provincial style buildings around the swimming pool with beautiful gardens.

Loved the pool. It is an essential part to a stay in Luang Prabang. Main street is a ten minute walk away. Only ate breakfast there. It was OK. A breakfast buffet when there were enough guests at the hotel, otherwise from the menu. I really wish eggs benedict, or something with cheese was on the breakfast menu. I did not ask for these, perhaps they would have accommodated that request. The bed is comfy. Air con and TV good. The hotel has two excursions (dinner cruise, and Elephant Retreat) that you can book. But for any others just go down the main street and you will find many different tour operators.

Close to market and river

Everything is perfect from services to the look of the hotel and location. If you don't like hot weather 36-40c, go in winter and you will have pleasant time. The town is still preserved with original Lao features, people, houses and food. Everything is not as cheap as you might expect. The boat ride along the river ($25pp lunch included and can be arranged by the hotel) is a must.

We enjoyed 3 nights at Villa Maly, and enjoyed our stay at this little boutique hotel which was very charming and much better than any hotel chain hotel. The staff were very friendly, and rooms clean and authentic in design, and breakfast was good (not the largest selection of food, but enough). The pool was nice and we enjoyed the ambiance the pool area had to offer at night. The location is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of town/night market - not a very far (wasn't a deal breaker), but not at the centre of everything if you want to be right off the main streets of town.Would have been nice to have free airport pick-up/drop off.

The deb in the room was old. The noise from the roosters which began at 4AM is unreasonable.
When I mentioned the noise to a staff member, they said that room 24 has a lot of rooster noise and that we would need to request a new room.
The room was not a good value for the amount of money they charged, $200 per night.

Although we did purchase cooking our own dinner the tradition Lao way at the pool, I felt was a good value and a unique experience.

Nice hotel close to city center

+ friendly owner, ensuring you have a pleasant stay. Nice pool, nice rooms, good breakfast. Within walking distance to city center (10 mins walking or tuk tuk). No connected rooms but 2rooms close to each other available very convenient for family.
- roosters singing in the middle of the night. Eggs proposed in buffet not always warm but staff happy to prepare eggs when requested (would be better to always prepare eggs for each customer)

Lovely find

This hotel was extremely comfortable, easy to find and beautiful. The rooms were eccentric but well thought out, the gardens were serene, the pool was always clean and the staff were attentive and friendly. Their English was great, and had no problems communicating with any of them. Having breakfast included in the rate was great too, always a good start to the day. It was just a 5 minute walk from the main part of town which was handy for the night market, and I felt comfortable walking down the street on my own.

The hotel was absolutely perfect. All staff was super friendly and very helpful. Room, garden and pool was great and super clean. Scooter rental 50 m and walk to town, other restaurants and night market very short. Definitely highly recommended !!!

This hotel is in immaculate condition, wonderful atmosphere (French-indo) set in tropical gardens. Lovely pool, and Management that is always available for any help you may need.
Good location with easy walk to Mekong river and centre of town. Highly recommend.

relaxing in luang prabang

a great little getaway but very close to town, a few minutes walk to the night markets and close walk but far enough away from the noisy backpackers/bars. amazing pool area, spent most of our days there! great food at the restaurant (breakfast included) and good room service. would stay there again or recommend to others going to Luang Prabang.

Great villa with a few issues

You are greeted by a lovely manager s you enter this villa, unfortu ately thats all she knows. The staff is friendly but they dont know how to schedule things for you. They also dont help, ie., they booked a taxi for me to go ride the elephants for 1/2 day...the taxi driver got lost and took me to the wrong place. I still paid the full amount even thou the trip was about two and a half hours i stead of five. When i told the staff, they did nothing but say that they wouldnt try to use that driver again. Also, it was a taxi ride of $10 to the airport, odd, comsidering it was $7 on the way in. They also wanted a staff member to ride in with me. I told them that was ridiculous and for a four star hotel, they shouldnt even expect the client to let someone tag along. This hotel is more a three star because of the ignorance of the staff, but a four star with regard to the pool, perect rooms (other than horible lighting in the bathroom), and great food at the restauarant (dont order the filet mignon, its really jsut a skirt steak!)
