This was overall a disappointing experience. From the check-in at 1:15 pm (normal check in time 2 pm), \"sorry your room is not ready\" whereas the hotel is loaded at 30% (low season) to the overpriced food, mini bar spa... We are not in Europe aren't we. The hotel is getting old decently maintained but aging... Last but not least the wifi was not working smoothly at all. Unacceptable at this price tag. I was happy to leave.

This was easily one of the most luxurious resorts I’ve ever stayed in. It is the previous French Governors mansion that was converted to 20+ room resort with bunnies and other fauna roaming the grounds. The rooms were right out of an Indochina romance with private gardens and an outdoor soaking tub. The stone tiles were pleasant on the feet

Wonderful wonderful hotel. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly or accommodating. Food was amazing as was the spa. They have friendly little rabbits running around the gardens. Pools was lovely. Would love to stay here again.

I was very happy stayed at the property. It is very quiet and calm. Good for relaxing. I didin't like breakfast line and restaurant. Bteakfast line was't variety and food didint look fresh. Also the choice of food at restaurant was'nt international. Its more local, like buffalo.

There is very little I can say that was not fantastic about this property. Wonderful staff, great food, beautiful gardens, private pool, amazing room, very comfortable bed, etc, etc. They give you free access to bikes to cruise the town. They provide bottled water, mosquito spray, and anything else you need, complimentary. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The only \"half\" complaint I could possibly make would be that anything you buy/order at the resort is quite expensive. Its hard to stomach a $15 pina colada at the pool, when you can get something similar in town for $1. We took a cooking class with Chef John, which really was awesome and we loved every minute of it, but again, quite expensive. Other than that, it was really one of our greatest resort vacations. The local scene is amazing!

The Sofitel is a beautiful property, however the service was definitely lacking in many ways. To name a few:
- The staff was unaware of many of the most popular things to do in the area. For example, when we inquired where the boat dock was to take the tour to the Pak Ou caves, they didn’t know
- The staff’s English was so poor it was very difficult to communicate. For example, they told the tuk-tuk driver to take us to the wrong place because they couldn’t understand
- There are only 11 chairs around the pool despite there being plenty of room for more, which was not enough for all guests
- The lighting in the bathroom was extremely poor, making it impossible to put on make up
- We tried to book some excursions through the hotel and they marked up the prices 4x vs booking it yourself
- The fruit basket in our room was brown and over ripe
- We ran out of both toilet paper and bottled water in our room and had to call to request more
- The restaurant was poor and out of many things we ordered. The coffee was bitter and tasted like instant
- The milk on the buffet was room temperature. We had stomach aches the entire time we were there
- The hotel is on the outskirts of town, yet they provide shuttle service to town only between 6 and 9 PM, not during the day.
Our stay was a huge disappointment. I would not recommend unless the management vastly improves. We checked out the Avani+ which was close to town, beautiful with great service. Stay there instead!

The location is very special and the villas are absolutely beautiful and give you full privacy.

The good can be improved. The menu is limited and more importantly the chicken that I got was almost uncooked. It would be good to offer a few geniounly local dishes and a few western option. The taste of the food was not good at all.

The worst experience caused by Expedia

1. Expedia overcharged me and refuse to match hotel price as Expedia promised in its own website by no responses.

2. The expedia reservation and the reservation the hotel received is different. the hotel insists my reservation does not include breakfast and transportation transfer. I argued with this hotel three times in a short morning. Exhausted. So don't book Accor hotel through Expedia. Chaotic Management and communication between expedia and hotel.

A charming oasis of calm

We spent 3 nights here and loved every minute. The hotel is a little way out of the centre but it takes 10-15 minutes easy walking to the historic centre of LP or a tuktuk taxi for a few dollars. We used the free hotel bikes as well which it’s a great way to get around the various sights in town.

The hotel and grounds are beautifully restored and provide a very lush and restful environment to relax after a day visiting the sights. Complimentary tea and cakes by the pool in the late afternoon was a pleasure greatly appreciated. The staff are attentive and extremely friendly.

Breakfast was excellent but we can’t comment on the restaurant as we preferred to explore the many good Lao restaurants in town. We did visit the restaurant of the sister hotel in town, 3 Nagas, and had a great Lao style meal.

All in all a wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend.

Highly recommend it.

Beautiful hotel with amazing pool, lovely spacious rooms and attentive friendly service. 15 min walk to center of town, but worth it to be away from the town motorcycle noise. Only downside is not enough local food selections on the restaurant menu. Restaurant and menu need to be more Laotian and less western...even the music seemed a bit off. Otherwise great stay!

Boutique hotel gem

This 25 room, magnificent property was a sanctuary in the extreme heat of May in Luang Prabang. The rooms are huge and beautifully appointed. We had a private garden that we loved. This may also be the first hotel pool sufficiently alluring to cause us to swim for exercise each day. While there are hourly tuk tuk shuttles for free from the hotel to its sister property, 3 Nagas, we enjoyed the 15 minute walk into town. The hotel property is the former governor's property and is quite large, and lushly planted. A perfect oasis. Breakfast outdoors was lovely as well. Marie was welcoming and provided excellent restaurant tips.

Dirty and full of mosquitoes

For a Sofitel we've been a bit disappointment. The room cleanness is mostly a big issue for us and mosquitoes made outside stay after 6 pm almost impossible.
There are good things to say about the hotel, friendly staff, great breakfast but good things got cancelled due to bad experience.
Ok, the room is fair, pretty big, decent design but it's not clean. We found pee stains on toilet as we arrived, floor was filthy and during all our days there I never seen a cleaning mop or anything to wash the floors. We had to disinfect the toilet our self, I put some sanitizer all over the toilet cap (it left a white spot when dried) and noticed it was still there after 2 days, this is how great the cleaning is. We asked for our sheets to be changed on 3rd day, was never changed and our bed was made in front of us, weird, left me speak less after they left, I thought is a joke.
I told the front desk staff the room is not cleaned right, the conclusion they reached is to tell the cleaners to arrange my things. I have no problem with my things being touched, was never the problem. I didn't even bother to explain in more details as I told them the room needs proper cleaning.
Then, you get a garden. First thing, wifi there is not working. I tried to stay with my laptop out to enjoy a bit of free air, disappointment again. After 6 PM the mosquitoes invade the outsides, you can not stay out for more then 5 minutes, I dare you to try, never seen something like this before. There was a spray insid

Stunning, Attention to detail!

Nice and quiet because if the distance from the tourist area, but requires catching the last 8:30pm shuttle at 3 Nagas, or added expense of using tuk tuks. Bicycles not available in the evening and women shouldn't walk alone at night where it is not busy.

Lovely place to stay in Luang Prabang - the tropical gardens are very peaceful (and now well-stocked!) and the rooms the classic colonial decor with four poster beds with lots of teak finishings, white linen, Lao silk soft firnishings and high ceilings. This was my third time in Luang Prabang and the Sofitel is my favourite of the hotels I've stayed at. Well recommended.

Luxury Hotel worth it with Great Service!

Hotel services was very good. The hotel grounds and gardens were amazing and nice, as was the pool. The breakfast was good, but not much variety. Everything about the Luang Prabang Sofitel was great. The only improvement would be the restaurant food and menu. The quality was okay, but not excellent and menu needs some more healthy options instead of so much buffalo meat.

The staff were fantastic and nothing was a problem.
They organised a car to take us from Lang Prabang to Vientiane which was an example of them going the extra mile for us.
The hotel was great with a fantastic layout and good pool.
Would recommend it and if I ever go to Lang Prabang again I would definitely stay there.

Amazing retreat for peace

We stayed over the Lao new year \"Songkran\" and must say the whole city was just in a joyful party mode all over the city, which is more a big village with fantastic places to visit and very good restaurants. Coming back at the hotel was just a pleasant and calm experience to relax after an intense day. The garden, the pool and the rooms are just beautiful in the most simple way but with all the luxury \" with out any bling\" you will expect from such an establishment.

Practically perfect!

This hotel was easily the best we stayed at during our trip. The hotel arranged for a car service to pick us up and the driver was excellent and actually took us to a beautiful temple on the way to the hotel by request. When we arrived at the hotel, the grounds were gorgeous and we were given a complimentary coffee foot scrub outside of our room. The room was amazing, we were given a private plunge pool room with a huge backyard and sitting area. The bedroom was gorgeous with high ceilings and a 4 post bed. The walls of the bathroom can be slid to the sides converting the shower and bath to outdoor facilities. Everything about this hotel was perfect. They are in the process of switching it to a Sofitel so the only drawback is there was a limited restaurant menu and limited bar area. But we were so impressed after the first night that we actually tried to book the hotel for a year from now to come back (the sad part is that with the change to a Sofitel...a HUGE change in price tag comes with it). But this was easily one of the best of not the best hotels we have ever stayed in.

Near-perfect stay, quiet location, caring staff

Reception & check-in for a 3-night family stay went well. Staff smiling, friendly and forthcoming, but could use a few more English courses. Booked “Garden Suites w. King Bed” which were close to the pool and the breakfast restaurant. The colonial era building are nice restored while maintain their ‘old’ character. Room was spacious with sumptuous king-size bed, and a very nice air conditioning system that cooled the room evenly and without a noticeable airflow. The toilet separate from the bathroom. The bathroom has a bathtub and a boxed shower. Finally a private 4 by 10 m garden and terrace. The outer ‘wall’ of the bathroom can be folded away, making it an open-air bathroom overlooking the private garden! Towels and bed linen generous in size and amount, and no stains or hairs. Rooms a bit dark, but with plenty of well-placed lighting. Many wall outlets, which is nice to recharge our many phone, video, and other batteries. Wardrobe is large but the in-room safety deposit box a bit small for all our audio-video & ICT gear.
Breakfast in the garden in front of the restaurant was good (real freshly pressed orange juice!) and varied. Pool large enough and with clear water.
Location a bit far from the city centre, but the hotel provides free bicycles (with helmet & lock). It is a very quiet place, and the large central garden has plenty of real birds (not in cages).
Why ‘near'-perfect ? The toiled lacks the handy little shower head that is so widespread in Asia.

Beyond 5 stars! Made to feel very special !

Truly wonderful stay. If you are in Luang Prabang, this is the place to stay. The hotel staff are genuinely warm, welcoming and friendly. The magnificence of the hotel when you step into the courtyard is out of this world; you are made to feel like you are the most important guest in the hotel. The rooms are just divine - large ceilings, very comfortable beds, complimentary minibar, enormous bathrooms. Our room had an attached garden and you could also walk out of the room and the pool was straight in front of you. Breakfasts were lovely - love the Laotian offerings including Nam Kao. I would highly recommend a stay at the Hotel De La Paix; there is simply no other place like it.

The breakfasts were delicious, but the dinners were fabulous. There is a French chef who has adapted French techniques to Laotian cookig. If I were a billionaire I would fly to LuaingPrabang just to eat in the restaurant.

A fantastic hotel

We stayed four nights in this gem of a hotel. We were in a pool villa but also made good use of the main pool. Everything is being taken care of by the most awesome and friendly staff. They literally know the names of all guests. Not only the manager but everyone who spoke with us knew our names. Pretty remarkable.

There are cute little bunnies running around in the beautiful gardens and the restaurant is the best in Luang Prabang.

I cannot recommend this place enough. It is simply fantastic.

Hôtel qui ne vaut pas son prix. L’hotel fait facturer le prix d’un 5 étoiles loin d’être un 5 étoiles. Je me suis faite avoir par la note de l’hôtel. Une fois sur place je me suis rendue compte qu’il ne vaut pas plus d’un 3 étoiles..
Quelques problèmes avec la climatisation qui nous a fait refaire les bagages et changer de chambre le soir avec un bébé.
Ne vous attendez pas à un buffet au petit déjeuner il s’agit seulement de pancakes qui s’effrite et de petits morceaux de gaufres assez secs. Quand nous avons décider de ne pas prendre de petit déjeuner ils sont arrivés avec des croissants mais c’était trop tard nous avions décider de petit déjeuner dehors
Dans l’ensemble le personnel est très gentil mais le prix de l’hôtel pour ce qu’il est fait fuir. Vraiment un prix très élevé pour un hôtel qui ne vaut pas son prix. Ayant fais le pull man (les seuls 5etoiles dans la ville ) il est nettement meilleurs (petit déjeuner complet et varié, très belle chambre moderne et propre)
