This hotel is pure charm! 🌿 From teakwood details to soaring French doors opening onto a grand balcony, the room felt spacious and elegant. The bed was heavenly, and I loved the unique breakfast—order straight from the menu, every dish delicious. Staff were warm and attentive, making the stay unforgettable. The French colonial style adds that extra touch of timeless beauty.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The staff are so gracious & welcoming. The room was large, beautifully decorated and well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and attractively presented. Dinner was a wonderful experience. Top notch food and service! The pool was very refreshing on hot days and we took advantage of the 2-for-1 happy hour offers!

I have mixed reviews of this property. The property looks beautiful from a distance but when we checked in, our room was absolutely infested with mosquitos. The staff tried to be helpful and accommodating by moving our room twice but even in the final upgraded room, we still spent the night squashing mosquitos. Each room was very musty (probably the super mouldy curtains) and the furniture, even the suite, was stained and just looked grubby. With some deep, professional cleaning, this place would be stunning - the gardens are beautiful and breakfast by the pool is lovely. The property is away from the town but a tuk tuk is cheap and the hotel can organise a scooter which makes getting around easy.

Large rooms, but far from town centre

The rooms are very comfortable and spacious but the hotel far from the town centre. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the town centre but only 4 times a day and it's not very reliable, it can be late or early. If you need transport outside of those hours the hotel charges an extortionate amount, you are better off finding transport elsewhere or walking. Breakfast was a la carte with very limited options. We stayed for 3 days and couldn't use the pool because it was closed for maintenance, we weren't even allowed to use the sun loungers. I understand pools require maintenance, but we were never told either before we arrived or at check-in.

The manager and all of the staff are gracious and welcoming. The property and grounds are well maintained and a relaxing oasis just on the edge of downtown Luang Prabang. The pool is large and swimmable but like most of the pools in town it is not as crystal clear as one would like. Overall, the property is delightful.

Toui and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy at every turn. Great service, beautiful rooms, one of the best restaurants in Luang Prabang, and serious attention to detail make this property an excellent choice. We look forward to our next visit!

Beware of overcharging

\"Free airport transfer (by request)\" was not free.
They tried to charge laundry fee for a \"evening gown\" for which I never asked for service (I was a male solo traveller).

This hotel is close to flawless. The staff are excellent, the facility pristine and quality superb. The only minor quibble is that it’s a few clicks out of town but they deal with this by having a number of courtesy cars at various times. I cannot speak of this facility more highly.

I chose the Luang Say Residence because it was ranked as the #1 hotel in Luang Prabang and I'm enthusiastic to say it exceeded my expectations. The experience was so good that I've decided to leave for my first ever online hotel review. The rooms were large, extremely clean, comfortable, and very unique in an elegant french design. Customer service was second to none - there was never a feeling of them trying to sell products (e.g. room upgrades, tour packages, etc.) but rather a genuine effort made by all staff to make our experience as enjoyable and hassle free as possible. The multi-course served breakfast was amazing and it will be hard to go back to hotel breakfast buffets.

Even if there weren't a number of neat things to do in Luang Prabang, the Luang Say Residence on its own would have made the trip worthwhile.

My only regret is not having booked a longer stay here.

Loved the staff at the hotel- very friendly and knowledgeable. It takes about 7 mins to get downtown by car or tuk tuk, but the staff helped with transportation. If you want to stay in the center this isn't the place, but we loved the calm and relaxing vibe and the fact that there is a bit more space.

Fabulous hotel outside the old town

This picturesque hotel is outside the old town but hey provide an on demand shuttle service and return shuttles from town run every hour. A Tuktuk from town is 10-20k Kip. It has a fantastic pool which is super relaxing to hang out at. The breakfast is served a la carte and is delicious. Service is friendly and attentive. The place itself is so beautiful and our plantation suite was large and well-appointed. The Hotel arranges tours if you want too. They offer airport transfers as well. Nice mix of couples and families.

Setting as if you go back in time, with wonderful staff, who go the extra mile to make you comfortable. Fabulous breakfast! Free bikes to roam around town.

Simply Outstanding Hotel

Luang Prabang is the most beautiful small town in Asia I've ever been, an incredible great surprise,
The Hotel is Superb, I've contacted by mail with the manager to arrange our stay due to my wife's birthday and they organize everything beautifully, excursions, transfers everything,
We book the transfer from the airport and Francoise welcomed us in the Arrival hall with a great smile and a superb attention to all the details (well done guy) and lead us to the hotel where we've been welcomed by the Hotel's manager, who seems to be doing an excellent job here,
Hotel's staff are so warm, friendly, helpful, they've showed up with a welcome mocktail and a birthday cake during the check in before to lead us to our room,
The hotel is way better than what you can see in Expedia's pictures, the atmosphere and the charming ambiance, the decoration is superb, beautifully detailed, awesome landscape, everything is just perfect,
We booked the Pioneer room, and it was really nice, located in the first level, the size is perfect, the bedding was wowww we really had a very good rest ,we enjoy the balcony views,
The Breakfast is outstanding as well, we specially love this type of small hotels , more intimate and where you can get rid of those Buffet type breakfast, here they serve a la carte meals , which are beautifully prepared and presented, with enough options to fulfill all your needs and expectations,

lovely quiet location not too far from town

excellent hotel with a location that is quiet but not so close to the center of town. the hotel is aware of it and provides for rides to the post office all afternoon long. the food is excellent and the rooms extremely charming.

Wonderful hotel in Luang Prabang

We had a wonderful experience. The hotel grounds are beautifully landscaped and very quiet. The large rooms are spread out on the grounds in two-story buildings, each accommodating four rooms. From the moment we arrived the staff provided friendly, helpful service. The hotel provided shuttle service to the colonial town whenever we wanted it. We particularly enjoyed the three tours they arranged for us. Their tour brochure and link on their website was thorough and they offer a variety of experiences. We highly recommend Luang Say Residence!

Great and beautiful property. Breakfast is served in a very formal way and have very limited selection included in your pre-paid rate - any additional item is incredibly pricy. Breakfast needs to be rethought.

This is an exceptional property where we stayed three nights at the end of our Laos holiday. The architecture is mock French-colonial. We had an upper floor Pioneer suite which was huge, and had everything you would really need. The pool is probably the biggest in LP, and because there are so few rooms, it never felt busy.

The staff are super friendly, and nothing seemed too much for them. Breakfast - included in our room rate - was excellent as well.

There are of course many luxury hotels to choose from in this town; and we researched many of them prior to booking here. Indeed we visited a few of them when we were there. I can honestly say that I still think we made the right choice.

Just one small niggle (which I mentioned in their questionnaire): the drinks prices in particular, and the menu in general, were exorbitant. I can accept a reasonable markup, but when a Beer Lao (my benchmark for these things) is up to four times as much as some of the restaurants in town, I feel I have to take a principled stand, and not buy. No wonder nobody was buying anything to drink by the pool. The Luang Say's restaurant was empty most evening and consequently lacked ambiance. I just think the hotel needs to reconsider its pricing strategy. Such a shame really, and a real missed opportunity.

Great size hotel - not too many guests. Close enough to the centre of town. Great staff and overall a very comfortable and relaxing place. Excellent food at the restaurant - even for Breakfast. Kids loved the pool and the sense of space.

The Luang Say Residence is a wonderful place to stay in Luang Prabang. The staff was inobtrusive, but at the same time friendly and extremely helpful. There didn't seem to be anything they wouldn't do for you. The restaurant had great food, the pool was relaxing, and the rooms were comfortable, roomy, and super clean. The place also offered free transportation into town on demand, and had a regular shuttle service in the evenings. I can't think of a base they didn't cover, or anything they couldn't have done better to earn my business. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Highly recommended. P.S. They've also got some friendly and very cute rabbits patrolling the grounds. They added a really nice touch to the overall vibe of the place.

Oasis of calm and beauty

Luang Say is located just outside the main town with its many restaurants,shops and temples. This was an advantage as there's a free shuttle and the hotel is such a quiet oasis with lovely gardens and wonderful pool, away from the bustle and noise especially as it was Chinese New Year. The manager Francis could not have been more helpful as were all the staff. Restaurant was lovely and food excellent, breakfast was complete and delicious.

Definitely a five star hotel!

This hotel is very lovely, more adult friendly than family friendly. Convenient to the town centre and tourist attractions however nothing within walking distance to anything much. The breakfast is phenomenal, delicious bread baskets, lovely fruits (although selection is slim), and delicious choices of hot breakfast items!! I tried almost all during our five day stay and all of them were superb! Staff are very friendly and hotel is well maintained and exceptionally clean!

An outrageous experience of luxury

What an amazing hotel. I travel extensively throughout Asia staying in top hotels and Luang Say Residence achieves the highest level of perfection I have experienced to date. Each detail that the hotel offers, no matter how small, has been meticulously thought over and delivered. From the design of the room key, to the innovative \"do not disturb\" sign, to the incredible hand made bag that my pre-flight breakfast was wrapped in, everything was charmingly presented. And this does not even mention the stunning architecture of the brand new buildings, the immaculate grounds and the awe-inspiring rooms. Well done to the owner and management.

Colonial style hotel with a gracious staff.

We stayed at the hotel for four nights. The room is large but no bathtub for the pioneer suite. Breakfast is served to the table, not buffet style. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, the service in the dining room, the lovely pool, and the expansive room with a patio. The front desk was very helpful in arranging a driver as we followed our own tours instead of the set ones that are very expensive. There was also a free tuk tuk that took you to town whenever you wanted. It was a great vacation in a very relaxing atmosphere.

A delightful refuge!

We really enjoyed our four-night stay in an upstairs Explorer suite. The room was generous in size with a lovely outdoor balcony overlooking the pool and garden area. We thought the restaurant was exceptionally good. Staff were courteous, welcoming and very helpful in advising on activities.
