During a 3 month tour of South East Asia we stayed at Satri House for 6 nights - easily the best hotel experience of our trip, hands down. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate, the rooms full of charm, comfort and all the amenities you’d expect. However what takes Satri House to the next level is the people-every person we met, from the gardener, front desk staff, restaurant staff, spa staff to the hotel manager - the in person experience was exceptional-every person was professional but simultaneously present, thoughtful and kind. Certainly a tribute to the owners, management and the Laotian culture-we didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to return!!

A cosy boutique stay feeling as if time slipped with a Luanprabahab old charm. Staff were kind and natural, making it feel like returning to an old house. Only wish the door knobs were easier to open and the AC a bit quieter.

Wonderful boutique hotel nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Secret garden vibes and a great getaway while in Luang Prabang. It’s colonial style so don’t expect all the modern amenities although I do wish there were gym facilities. I do highly recommend!

Lovely hotel oozing old world charm

The hotel is about 5 minutes, on bicycle provided by the hotel, away from the old town centre which is in itself the cultural heartland of Laos.

The hotel is nestled in lush tropical vegetation.

Given its age the hotel has been maintained to a very high standard and oozes old world charm.

The staff are all very helpful and the food is excellent - try the Lao omelette for breakfast.

I highly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to dive in an authentic interiors and place with soul.
The hotel is beautifully arranged, the garden is exceptional the pools great and relaxing.
It is extremely quiet and safe.
The staff is always there to answer every question and help with every issue.
The restaurant is delicious and serve a wide range of traditional food.
I really enjoyed the stay and would come back again without hesitation.

Outstanding experience in LP

We are not ones to write reviews but after 4 nights at the Satri House we decided to open an exception to share with others that this is the place to be in LB. From the moment we arrived, to the moment where we sadly had to leave we felt as the hotel was somewhat a home we've been to many times before, and they new us and how we enjoyed being treated. The building is beautiful, provides a real sense of place and time, and the staff outstanding, the GM was attentive and present ensuring the guests were well cared for and providing great recommendations on what to do and see. We will surely be back.

I have stayed at other five star properties in Luang Prabang, and this property is the best, not only in beauty, but in-service, cleanliness, and dining. The staff and food were amazing. The hotel has beautiful antiques and rare objects de arts with pieces of history scattered throughout it. You get a sense of times gone by making you feel like you are living as a guest of the former king. I have traveled extensively. It is a very unique property, probably one of the best in the world.

The property is exquisite with small details everywhere that make you feel like you’re in an oasis. Mr. Dao was incredible from the second we stepped foot on the property with helpful tips and a ‘do more’ attitude. All staff members were also delightful and our driver Sai took great care of us during our trip.

Breakfast was delicious with western and local options. The pool is stunning and our room was turned down and set up perfectly day and night. Thank you again to Mr. Dao and the team for making our trip so memorable.

This is an exceptional boutique hotel in the lovely town of Luang Prabang. Stunning design of rooms and gardens. Excellent taste throughout. Charming and helpful staff. The restaurant is good too and the hotel has a boat for evening cruises on the Mekong. . Only one slight niggle. The beautiful teak floors are very noisy and some guests rise early for the sunrise or for the alms giving to the monks. Try and choose a room away from shared floor areas.

Love the Satri House!!!

The Satri House is an absolutely wonderful place! The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and the service was outstanding. My 10 and 13 year old daughters also thoroughly enjoyed it whether it was lounging by the pool, the lily pond or the bar, watching the turtles, fish and cats, and riding the bikes. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants and markets. I highly recommend this hotel.

It is a beautifully designed and decorated, comfortable, small hotel (30 rooms) set in a beautiful, peaceful garden. The staff are very helpful and attentive and clearly keen for guests to enjoy their hotel and Luang Prabang. The Lao food we ate in the hotel was very well prepared and delicious. And the hotel is situated within easy walking distance of the UNESCO World Heritage areas of the city.

We stayed a total of 5 nights at Satri House, on two occassions and in two different rooms. I cannot fault this beautiful hotel. The rooms are lovely and are extremely clean. The housekeepers come to the room at various times in the day. Each afternoon they bring a small warm snack to the room, which we thought was a nice touch. Glass water bottles are provided free.
The breakfast menu has a very good selection and is very generous. The food was good and excellent service throughout.
The grounds are laid out beautifully. It is a very relaxing and peaceful environment. Perfect for destressing. I can not recommend this hotel high enough. We will definently stay again if in Luang Prabang

Loved staying in this charming hotel - the buildings themselves are like something from another era but are maintained so well that there’s none of the shabbiness that sometimes goes with older style places - attention to detail is particularly noticeable with delightful sweet treats brought to the room each evening when room is being prepared for nighttime. The breakfast menu covers all tastes and food is delicious. Love it

A very nice colonial house. Staffs were very nice, however thru could need more trainings. Food was good in the restaurant. We spent sometime ta the pool bar, ordered some cocktails but some of them were a little blant. I personally did not like the bathroom amenities both products and also the bottles, like the conditioner was not come out for such a small bottle. It was a good time overall tho. Thank you once agian. Khob j'ai !

Top experience in Luang Prabang.

This is a fabulous property, private and well-run. The service was unobtrusive and excellent. There is a fairly new manager who was personable and attentive to guests. Being a little out of the main town was good as it was quiet. The attention to detail and restoration of the beautiful old building makes it a special place to stay. There are certainly cheaper places to stay, but it is well worth the extra money to stay here.

This is a superb hotel - a little way out of town but an easy walk in the evening and a cheap tuk-tuk ride during the day. The staff are amazing - keen to do anything to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast isn’t the usual buffet arrangement but is wonderful With lots of options and excellent coffee and bakery goods. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when we come back to LP.

Fantastic hotel - highly recommend! Staff were great from start to finish - Robert, the general manager, even provided a list of recommendations for Siem Reap when he heard I was going there next! They also arranged airport transport as well as for a tuk tuk to take me to Kuang Si Falls, helped to provide dinner recommendations and make reservations, and directed me to an alternative alms giving ceremony to observe that was right next to the hotel where I was the only observer. The room was very nice, and housekeeping came by multiple times during the day for turndown, to bring snacks, etc. AC unit worked great as well. The grounds were gorgeous. The included breakfast was delicious - many western and Laotian options cooked to order and served on the terrace on the restaurant overlooking the grounds. The property was also in a great location - about a 5-10 minute walk to the night market (totally safe to walk there at night by myself) so a little bit removed from the main street but still super close. A little bit of a splurge but definitely worth it!

Good location, quiet oasis

This hotel is a comfortable, easily walkable distance from the bustling downtown. The grounds and pools are lovely and extremely relaxing.
The staff are terrific and very attentive. The rooms are quite stately, perhaps a bit dark but cool and comfortable.
We especially lived the tamarind jam at breakfast!

Loved our stay

We stayed at the Satri House with 2 children (ages 8 and 10). The staff is welcoming and professional and honestly could not have done more for us. The spa was fantastic. The breakfast was delicious with a combination of Western and Eastern options. There was a lovely evening of traditional Lao dancing while we were there. Such a treat. The hotel organized car services while we were there and they also offer free bicycles to travel the short distance into town. Every afternoon we would have a sweet surprise delivered to our room (the coconuts pancakes are delicious). We hired a wonderful guide named Ms. Viengvilay Phimmasone (\"V\" for short) who is well known to the hotel.

Relaxing Retreat

We spent 10 relaxing nights at the Satri House Suite. Hotel staff were very helpful and none more so than the restaurant where we spent lazy mornings at breakfast ( the Tamarind jam is a must !!!) and had several meals at night.I know it is only a short trip to town, but why bother when the hotel food is so good.All the staff seemed to want to make our stay as pleasant as possible.Would recommend, and hope to have the chance to return.

We did a 8 day stay at Satri House in late August during the raining season. Luckily it didn't rain much and the sun shone brightly. Satri House has a specialness to as once the home of a prince so building have a big history to them. Impeccably designed with a sense of peace in mind the antiques and artefacts surround the walls bring old French Colonialism together with modern Lao to create magic. There are many nook and crannies to find solace in, two beautiful pools and a fresh smile always from all the staff. Mr Lucky one of the 3 year staff helped us with many itinerary plans and brought us personally on some fun adventures. Satri House is for people who want a style that exudes deluxe without all the pomp and circumstance of a big chain hotel. It has class.

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous garden grounds. Service was impeccable. Its a little far from the main town centre but you can walk around 20 minutes from the backdoor. The hotel has excellent breakfast and food all day long. The room is quaint and interesting in its decor throwing back to a bygone era.

Very wonderful stay, quiet and relaxing (away from city center), but still close enough to walk to the night market, Buddhist temples, river, and main part of town. The breakfast included in our rate was great. TVs are optional (we could have asked for one), but none of us in the family really missed it since we felt so pampered and engaged in other activities. The library reading room with a fireplace also was a nice place to hang out as was the pool area. The rooms were beautiful and sumptuous. The bath amenities were luxurious. We had two nice big rooms for our family of five, including our teenage children. We cannot say enough good things about the excellent staff who anticipated our every need. Overall this nice hotel had great old \"Indochine\" (French and Laotian) touches and charm. We highly recommend this hotel.

Honeymoon retreat!

We stayed at Satri house for 5 nights as part of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. The hotel is beautifully decorated and has everything you need and ideally located a short walk from the centre of Luang Prabang. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. It was also my birthday whilst we were staying there and they made a special fuss with a cake and flowers. If you are looking for somewhere very special I would highly recommend Satri house.

Charming class

Satri House is a wonderful hotel in Luang Prabang and I doubt there are many there that are better. It is a beautiful set of buildings that match the charm of the city itself. The staff is extremely helpful at all times. My only complaint is that the room smelled too strongly of lemongrass!

Lovely hotel minutes from downtown/main street Luang Prabang, yet far enough away to have it be quiet and peaceful. We stayed here for 4 nights as a family - 2 adults in a Junior Suite king & 2 children in a Junior Suite twin and it was wonderful. Every detail has been thought about in the surroundings and there are sitting/gathering nooks and beautiful objects around every corner. It was fun to explore all the 'public yet private' spaces of this hotel. Rooms were large and beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with local culture and art. The mosquito netting turn down service every night with a local snack is wonderful. The room and the resort even smelled heavenly. The breakfast was divine - after leaving I am still longing for the amazing croissants, home made chutney, and made to order eggs. The coffee is great too. And since it was cold sitting in the front room with the fire going in the morning and evening was wonderful - pool area and bar were great for when it warmed up in the afternoon. Beautiful place with a staff that met every need with a smile - special thanks to Alona the front desk manager for seeing to a few extras. And the hotel bicycles (for free!) were a wonderful thing to make use of to see sites and view the town, though a tuktuk ride was an easy phone call away by the hotel front desk and very, very reasonable (a few US dollars). I would also highly recommend the delicious food in the restaurant, both lunch and dinner items are delicious!

A mini paradise...

A wonderful hotel overall and will definitely stay there again. A few minutes walk to the main street. A little hard to communicate with the staff at times because of the language barrier but other than that they were very friendly and attentive.

Felt like prince & princess

Beautiful restored rambling mansion. One of the most charismatic places we have ever stayed. Felt like staying in someone's luxury home.
Our flight didn't leave until 630pm so they gave us late checkout till 5 at no extra cost (off season).
Highly recommend.

Beautiful!

Stunning indochine chic in French colonial buildings. It looks like an Elle Decoration photoshoot. Gardens, courtyard and carp ponds were beautiful as were both the pools. Staff were 5 star hotel standard mix of solicitous, relaxed and friendly and unobtrusive. Truly the best place in Luang Prabang.

Honeymoon Perfection

Hotel is situated a ten minute walk from the main streets of the old town of Luang Prabang. No need to stay in the center of town, distance was ideal for walking in to see the daily procession of Monks. The quality of the hotel is absolute top notch, if this hotel were anywhere in the US or Europe the price would be at least double if not triple. The staff (while speaking little english) were amazingly accommodating, and incredibly friendly. The swimming pool was beautiful and the bar restaurant area's were very well kept and served fantastic food. My wife and I spent 2 weeks traveling around south east asia for our honeymoon and this hotel alone stands out as the place we hope to visit for an anniversary trip in the years to come. Thank you all so much!

Perfect

I chose to stay at Satri House for a relaxing getaway, and that is what I got. The hotel is beautiful, rooms stylishly decorated, spacious, relaxing and comfortable and the pool was lovely to swim in. The food at the restaurant was delicious, although I would have liked to see more variety at breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again and I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautifully designed hotel

An incredibly beautiful hotel .... quiet, calm, oasis. Lovely staff. Gorgeous rooms. The only slight downside is it's located a little bit out of town which as a female on my own meant walking down a very dark lane to get home. Having said that, Tuk tuks are easy from the night market. Would recommend!

Not up to luxury standards.

Pretty boutique hotel, but really lacks what you would expect of a hotel in this price range. The wifi was intermittent and mostly unavailable in our room. The sofas in the common areas were covered in cracked vinyl. The food was so-so. The rooms were pretty, but simple (no tv, iPod dock, etc.) Also, the staff spoke very little English and the prices of everything they could arrange outside the hotel (taxis, tuk tuks, tours, etc.) seemed inflated. Beautiful grounds though. I have stayed in many boutique hotels and would not recommend this one.

Excellent hotel

Excellent is the word to describe this accomodation. We stayed three nights in the junior suite and found everything was stellar, room, food, pool and staff. One thing to mention, among others, is excellent breakfast. Sterling bread, croissants and jam are hand-made by an elegant lady at the accomodation, who went to French school before revolution and so speaks French.

Stylish retreat in good location

Overall good. Weather colder than usual - rooms did not have heating so we found them rather chilly. Breakfast would benefit from a wider choice on the menu e.g. more than one type of juice. Afternoon tea excellent quality but a bit pricey

This is a truly one of a kind hotel. Beautifully decorated and pristinely kept, you really don't want to leave (but you have to since the town of Luang Prabang itself is such a gem). It's not a bad walk to town, but it's a little bit on the outskirts. Still very safe though. If there's one knock, it's that only like 2-3 people on the staff speak English proficiently. In order to get any help, you need to find one of them. When you speak with them, they are incredibly helpful. We'd absolutely stay here again and recommend to everybody.
