We decided to treat ourselves at the last minute and had a great time. We're big into exploring on foot, so Waikiki Beach as well as the shopping/restaurant area were not out of reach. (And of course hailing a taxi from the hotel was the easiest thing ever).

We booked the Arizona Memorial & City tour as well as the Majestic Circle Island Tour. Both were wonderful excursions off-site. (Loved picking up the bus from the covered Hotel lot! Also grabbed a parasailing ride separately from hotel (they are in view from the hotel and only a small drive from it).

One big thing to AVOID: the Starlight Luau. They will try to sell you up and down on this, but it is only in its barest minimum different from a free Luau you'll see at a mall. (Fire batons and dinner being the difference) Ask someone you know who lives out there or do some investigating, as there are more AUTHENTIC Luaus available offsite. This one didn't even have the pig roasting in the ground; food was served in tin trays like a backyard party, and you CAN WATCH IT FOR FREE if you stand on the Lagoon sidewalk. Like, all these people were standing there watching for free (or from their hotel rooms) while we paid to sit next to strangers who wouldn't stop talking. So skip this one. Don't get sucked in. We even asked to talk to a manager or owner. Email and at the desk. No one has responded. See it for free or pay for a real one.

Otherwise, we would absolutely visit again. Loved rooms and beach! Just a great resort!

Vegas meets paradise. This place is BUSY, think Vegas strip and all the shops. Also, the lobby is in a near constant state of check ins and check outs since you have flights coming and going from all over at all times of the day and night.

But, it’s gorgeous, the property is maintained well, and couldn’t be in a nicer location. We lucked out and were able to score a high floor oceanfront room in the Rainbow Tower for another $50/night upgrade over the price from Expedia. Totally worth the splurge.

The Expedia deal also included a $65/night resort credit which must be used each day, not cumulatively. Obviously it doesn’t go a long way at a resort in Hawaii but anything is helpful.

There are other resorts on Waikiki that are less expensive but the idea behind staying here is you never need to leave - everything you’d want is here, including multiple ABC Stores.

So, if you can justify the price and don’t plan on leaving the resort, PULL THE TRIGGER and stay here, you won’t regret it.

This is an absolutely huge resort. Be prepared for massive crowds and chaos. The elevators always had a line and took forever because they would stop at nearly every floor with people trying to get on. (And they will pack in!) They have four or five but only two working at a time. No pool chairs to be found.... for the size of this resort I would say they probably had about 10% of pool chairs to accommodate guests. We had no air-conditioning for one night. Because we visited in June during an extra busy season they would not accommodate a late checkout "bc they are at capacity... not even for an hour and certainly not for a fee (yet they did try to sell me and additional room for $400) (I have never been denied a late checkout - we had to be out of the room at 11 and our flight wasn't until six pm. Most hotels offer a transit or hospitality lounge for you to shower after you check out of your room. Nothing like that here. Additionally, no laundry service on site. Not many people go to Hawaii for less than a week. It would be nice to have option to do laundry. I personally will not be back. At a minimum of $300/night there really are better options. Parking is $70/night. (Insane)

I brought all of this up to the employees and all they said was thank you for the feedback.

Plan for a long wait at check-in. The official check-in time is 4:00 PM, so don't expect to get your room early. At the front desk, you'll likely be offered a room with a better view or an upgraded room for an additional charge. It's possible those upgraded rooms are available for early check-in, but I can't say for certain.

I also asked the front desk to add my Hilton Honors membership number since I wasn't able to enter it when booking through Expedia. Initially, I was told that because I booked through Expedia, I wasn't eligible to earn points for my seven-night stay. However, the agent did add my membership number during the check-in process.

The tower we stayed in had loud music coming from the first floor every night until around 10:00 PM. We also had trouble sleeping because the guests in the room next to ours were arguing and yelling until as late as 3:00 AM, and the noise carried easily through the walls. If you're a light sleeper, you may want to request a room in a quieter area of the property.

The facility, staff and activities were excellent. All of the staff was friendly and eager to provide answers when questioned about anything.

If there is a negative, the elevators were slow because of the number of patrons utilizing the facility.

Another item, the shower tub was very slippery. There were no non-slip trips in the tub. Also there was a grab bar inside the shower, very helpful, but there was no grab bar to use when you exited the shower. You had to be very careful not to fall.

There is no microwave oven in the rooms. This should be a necessity for each room.

Avoid Hilton! the complex is about 5 or more 20+ story buildings. and the complex was overbooked - lot of people. we booked the "special and renovated with private check in" Ali'i tower that was probably renovated 10 years ago. got dropped of by taxi at main entrance and had to drag own 5 bags to the Alii tower by self - no bell boy around. check in was less than average - no extra service no flowers no Hawaiian hospitality. At check in got $$$+ deposit for incidentals and was told its a "pre-auth only" . to my surprise the full charge shows up on my account 3 days later. We booked for 10 days so i thought the final charge will just top this one up and decided not to pursue this. at check out paid another full and real charge $$$$ and asked why the original $$$ charge was a hard charge. The checkout attendant wasn't even listening and just kept saying that its a preauthorization that will fall off even despite me showing my live statement that it went through. Long story short, now 1 week after checkout, the deposit charge is still there. Called Hilton main line to complain twice and was told it would be reversed within 3 days - still nothin. Poor customer service and zero accountability. Hilton head office just responded 1 week later - want me to provide credit card statements and they will Mail me a cheque within 45 business days for over charging me!!! Im in canada and not sure what to do with a US cheque lol. Will do charge Creit card charge back.

Front desk agent,Jun, was wonderful! He assisted us in the our check-in, polite and very informative. We stayed in the Tapa Tower 1 bedroom suite, ocean view for one night prior to checking into the Hilton vacation rental. We arrived on a Friday and had the perfect view for the 8pm firework show. The room worked well for our family of 5. We utilized two roll out beds and the sofa couch. The hotel provides a small fridge in the room and dining table area for four. I personally prefer a kitchen when traveling with the kids, so this room works well for two/three nights but anything longer I wouldn’t reserve.

The hotel is older and definitely needs updating. The elevators are very slow we often waited at least 10 minutes to get one, which became frustrating.

The pools also didn’t look very clean. We stayed for five days and didn’t use them once because of that.

If you want to use the beach lounge chairs, the hotel charges $150 for two chairs, which I thought was unreasonable.

On the positive side, the village is very nice, with plenty of shops and a few cafés. The location is excellent, and it’s within walking distance of Waikiki, where you’ll find many restaurants and stores.

Overall, I guess you get what you pay for. The location is the hotel’s biggest advantage, but personally, I wouldn’t stay here again.

I stayed on the 20th floor of the Rainbow Tower. We had a renovated room with a great view of the ocean/beach/Diamond Head. The hotel pools were fun for the kids and the daily yoga sessions and cultural events like making leis were also a big hit. The staff are friendly and the resort looks good. Location is also great to walk to downtown Waikiki or to Ala Moana. The only knock is the elevators in the Rainbow Tower looks to be in refurbishment and many times will get backed up with long waits as there are many guests waiting on each floor or the lobby to use them. Also the wireless is a bit spotty with slow speeds or dropped connections at times. Otherwise the shopping and food options on resort were great and this was a great choice for my family’s vacation!

The hotels in the village are great. We stayed in the newest rainbow tower and had zero complaints. It's the tower that is beachfront and overseeing the lagoon which my kids enjoyed. The best part of the property was that there's a mini mall with stores ranging from clothing to jewelry to restaurants. My family loved it and allowed us to stay on the ground more when searching for food. Definitely recommend.

This resort is our favorite place to stay in Waikiki! We always stay in the Rainbow tower with an ocean front view. You have direct access to the beach and the private cove. There are multiple pools for all ages and the lagoon is perfect. The resort is always well maintained and the staff is always helpful and courteous. They have lots of free activities for all ages. Luau on site (fee) and sometimes special events. There are so many options for food, drinks and cocktails. Lots of shops and stores on the resort and in the village. Live music nightly at the Tapa bar is always a vibe, and Friday Night FIREWORKS on the beach is a must! This beach area is the only one that has lights at night so after the a long day sitting on the beach watching the stars is always a fun way to end our night. We have visited the resort with and without our children and its great for a romantic getaway or a family vacation. Its a great resort you will not be disappointed .

One of the worst ever. The good: good pools, slides and kid likes it. The house keeping staff is very friendly but that’s all.

Problems we faced:
1. It is just way too crowded. For check in, you are not allowed to park at the lobby because it is all jammed.
2. Check in line can be very long and slow.
3. Last night we see a cockroach in our room at around 2am. After talking to the manager, we were given only $150 credit because he insisted we should have told them during the middle of the night so they can fix it at the time.
4. As in 1, it’s crowded everywhere. The pool, pool chair, the slide, sidewalk, elevator. It is very common to wait a long time for elevator at least for rainbow tower. For pool and slides, the open time is quite limited especially for slides causing 20+ waiting in line.
5. We booked for two queen but given one king. And they fixed it by giving us a roller.
6. Rainbow tower supposed to be renovated but hot water can take forever. AC is ok but blow directly at the bed with weird auto logic.
Comparatively, we preferred Prince next door a lot better.

Experience ruined by deceptive practices. My stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village was ruined day 1 due to deceptive practices. Particularly the lie of booking an “Ocean View” room without an actual ocean view. You get a view of a bunch of ugly boats on the Marina, not the ocean. When confronted about this, the front desk acknowledged the deception but could not do anything about it.

Resort fees do not include basic things, like a bottle of water.

The pools are pretty small, the hotel is in an area that is pretty isolated and walking to anywhere outside is at least 20-30min endeavor.

Shows at the resort are prohibitively expensive. The beach is extremely rocky.
There are not enough pool chairs, but hey I guess you can rent one from them for insane prices.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will NOT be staying here.

Overall this was a good hotel, cleanliness was definitely a priority. You can tell anywhere on the property that it was clean and attended to. Overall I think the staff was helpful when they had to be, I never had one staff member help, greet or go out of their way for anything. They make most of the property available for you to help yourself, however with the thousands that were spent, the hospitality and amenities were lacking. However it had many many shopping and dining options and that was very convenient. For a safe place to lay your head down by the beach with a gorgeous view this was nice but the overall outlook wasn’t the best. If you got money, they view and location can be worth the dollar.

We were in the "A" tower, which I loved the location and that it was a smaller tower (less people coming in and out, quieter) and our ocean view room had a great view of the ocean, pool and fireworks show. Our room was clean and refreshed daily but it just needs a update for wear and tear. As we were checking out the front desk told us they will be re-doing this tower soon. The resort is crowded...but the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel special. Everyone we interacted with at the hotel was so nice and not all guests are nice back to these people working hard to make their stay pleasant. The beach was wonderful, for $100 you can rent an umbrella and 2 chairs for the day and that was so worth it. The pools were crowded. The lagoon is really nice and was not crowded. It has ample beach, fish swimming in it for young snorkelers and it has no waves.

We recently stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and had a mixed experience.

The resort grounds are beautiful, the location is excellent, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff were especially kind, and the manager was attentive and provided a $200 credit in response to our concerns.

Unfortunately, several issues impacted our stay. The resort felt extremely overcrowded—we were unable to find pool chairs even when arriving at opening time, and elevator waits of up to 20 minutes were common in the mornings.

Our room had multiple maintenance issues. The TV remote worked inconsistently, the bathtub did not drain properly despite a maintenance request, and an iron sprayed black residue that stained my son's shorts. It took four requests to receive a replacement, which also did not work properly.

Housekeeping was inconsistent, and our room was not serviced for two consecutive days despite being vacant for most of the day.

Our final morning was particularly disappointing. We ordered room service to enjoy one last relaxing breakfast before our flight, but after waiting over an hour we learned it had been delivered to the wrong room. By the time it arrived, we no longer had time for one last walk on the beach.

While we appreciated the efforts of the staff and management, the combination of overcrowding, maintenance issues, housekeeping lapses, and service errors made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay.

Understandably it is hard to manage all the property effectively each day. The workers did a nice job cleaning the outside areas and organizing them daily. But we did notice a lot of sand and debris making it throughout the property. Our room floor was a little dirty to begin the stay.

For the size of the resort, the single workout area was small and always quite full. It can be a challenge to use it effectively.

The convenience of all the amenities and shops was nice to have. It was a little disappointing to have to pay for seemingly every little extra thing. We thought some things like beach chairs would be an included amenity for the price.

We had a fabulous time at the resort. The beach, lagoon, and multiple pools were fabulous. There’s tons to do within walking distance or within a short uber ride if desired. Our room was very clean. House keeping was awesome. We dropped off luggage off when we arrived prior to our room being ready so we could enjoy the island before checking in. There are two huge malls within 20 mins walking distance that are great. Plenty of food joints around the property; they can get kinda busy at night so we tried to eat at places off the resort for dinner.

I liked that it was on the beach and the food was amazing at the Tropics bar and grill. When I booked our stay I was told if we attended a welcome meeting for an hour we would get $300 in resort credit. This wind up being an aggressive attempt to sell us timeshare. My husband was having a medical emergency and I told the sales rep we had to go, but she kept insisting we take a plan first. I will not stay here again!.

The room was beautiful and the layout was practical. very clean and well maintained property. everything you need to indulge in the full hawaiian experience is right outside your hotel doors. dining was amazing as well as breakfast and coffee at chee-hoo. pools a little crowded but the beach and ocean are where i spent most my time.

The location was perfect. We got the family room and it was amazing for our family of 5. The pools were great. The kids especially liked the one with the slides. All around a great hotel.

The staff and our room was great and clean. Was surprised at how busy and packed all the pools and beaches were. We never got to use any amenities due to how busy it was. Luckily we had a rental and went to other beaches.

Very centrally located. Many shops and restaurants within the resort and within walking distance of others outside. Great for families. Rooms were a little outdated but clean. Very friendly staff.

Property is very clean but maintenance could be better. Several cracks on the outside of lanai. Carpet in hallways was not installed correctly so is a trip hazard right down center of hallways. There is no microwave in rooms

Incredible that HHV can manage this many guests at one time. The resort is like a small city. Certainly not a quiet romantic property, but if you’re into BIG, this is your place! Really expensive as well! $69/day to self park! $89/day to valet! Breakfast for our party of 8 at Tropics (no alcohol) was over $300!

This was my families third visit to this property, and I must say the resort is not as well run as it used to be. Upon check in, which took way too long, we were told that an event was coming in and she would need to both rooms. Since that was not what we had requested, she had a very difficult time.
Then the pool area, lots of guests just left trash around, which says more of the guests than the resort. Guest were also spraying water down from the upper towers, and then dropped a water bottle down which almost struck my mother in law in the head. The property charges too extreme of an amount to have guests acting this way.
The location is great, but I would look into other properties first.

If you’re in the rainbow tower the rooms are perfectly clean . Outside the property gets dirty but I did always see staff cleaning inside and out. Forget dinning on location . It was nasty . The chicken was like rubber , steak didn’t taste like steak . Nothing tasted good at any of the places we ate . Oh the line waiting to get to the check in desk . Imagine standing in line to ride a ride at Disney world ! Good luck !
