Stayed just one night waiting for flight next day. Beautiful hotel in a great location. Front desk staff were professional and friendly. The hotel displayed design features from its past; very grand. The room was very small. My walk in closet at home was just as big. I believe this was reflected in the price but I did feel like I was in “steerage”. The bed (more like a chaise) was not comfortable. Overall lovely hotel but would have to probably pay double what I paid per night to have a decent stay.

The breakfast menu was limited and expensive so we skipped it. Room service options end pretty early. The rooms are small and narrow. The elevator is super small (typical European). Since the hotel is old it has very traditional authentic amenities in a regal sense but was not impressive. Our room wasn't the cleanest but it was comfy for a few days. Perfect location just steps from everything. That made up for it.

Romance Awaits

This was honestly one of the best stays of our lives. Not because it was the fanciest or newest, it was certainly aged, but with timeless class and drenched in charm, but because everything was just so damn lovely. The staff clearly love working there and it shows through their exemplary service. There is no doubt that everyone’s pleasant demeanor is authentic. The food is fantastic. The bed was heavenly. And the views were wonderful. The most romantic getaway that we have had in a long time. When we return to Stockholm, there is only one place to stay. Bravo to management for creating such an exquisite experience.

Wonderful staff, beautiful historic building, great location. However, issues with my room (broken lamp, sconces not working, cold showers) and street noise even in upper level rooms. It was a nice stay overall, but a bit overpriced for the issues I experienced. It didn’t quite meet my expectations for quality.

So when you charge prices that are only somewhat below high end hotels like the Grand one expects above average levels.

The hotel lift only handled 5 people max.
Qute but not practical

Breakfast selection is limited and service was spotty.

On one day our room was being cleaned at 5 pm

Overall disappointing stay.

Hotel Diplomat remains one of the best locations in Stockholm. The staff could not be more accommodating or helpful in every way. I love staying here. However, the hotel is in need of a remodel - some wear and tear that is starting to come through in the entire experience.

Terrible experience! Not what I expected from a 5 star hotel. There is no AC in the rooms!!! The hotel is old, some would say charming, I say old, it has one single elevator that you have to say a small prayer every time you board. I stayed at this hotel because I wanted water front views and such rooms are spacious, but if you visit in the summer think twice as such rooms get so much light, that you have to close the blinds as there is no AC in the room and it gets uncomfortably warm. And there lies most of my terrible experience. As soon as we checked in I was given an upgrade in one of the 2 rooms, only to discover that there was a fan in the room, as I tried to work with the AC there seemed to be a malfunction I quickly contacted the front desk who said and I quote “there is no AC in Stockholm” I was quite taken aback, but being my first time in Sweden I thought maybe that was a thing. We slept with the windows open and had to deal with the noice and the 4 AM sunrise, so it was a terrible. We complained again and they said they would work on it. No one ever called or did absolutely anything to make our stay more bearable. They forbade my son from having outside food in the empty hotel terrace bar saying it was the LAW in Stockholm, it’s not by the way. The hotel staff went out of their way to make my son feel uncomfortable and he had to eat the meatballs in the sidewalk. DO NOT STAY HERE, the staff is rude and just lie to guests to make excuses for shortcomings.

An elegant gem, lots of character and style and absolutely 5 star service. Simply gorgeous. Thanks to Jenny, Mutaza and Victoria, any issues (I booked an extra night & I wanted to upgrade) were just magically resolved with a smile. A beautiful stylish hotel. My room was just perfect. Right on the waterfront. You can walk everywhere you might need to go. Much better than the most fancy hotels in every way. I will be back. Thank you!

The housekeeping was not as good as it was. Also when they charged me at check-in the price was as stated but the exchange went crazy and almost $2000 more… not happy about what happened there maybe Sek to US to Cdn… was not correct! Will not return unfortunately 😮‍💨

Had a lovely stay at Hotel Diplomat. Staff were excellent. My check-in went smoothly and they were attentive and thoughtful throughout my stay. Had one bad encounter with the host in the restaurant, but other than that everyone was very kind. The room was amazing, the view from my balcony was awesome, the location of the hotel cannot be beat. For the price it was exactly what I was expecting, I could not point out any faults. Really loved my stay.

My stay at the Diplomat was lovely. It is an elegant hotel in a beautiful, historic building. The charm of the water across the street and being able to easily walk to the tram or subway near was super convenient. My room was well appointed with nice linens and a comfortable bed. Great water pressure in the shower too! I ate at the downstairs restaurant twice, both times exactly what I needed with good food and attentive service. I highly recommend the Diplomat and will be returning in the future.

while this is, in concept a top hotel, it is dated and they do not value the guests. in a 5 day stay, my tv did not work and each day i made the same request, was told it would be fixed and repeated it day in and day out. the bedroom carpet was stained and upon follow up to management about my horrible stay, they disregarded it and insinuated i was still happy with my stay after 5 days of complaints. they have ZERO sense of service despite friendly at first glance in person. i would NOT recommend this hotel.

Hotel Diplomat is a wonderful hotel. Our room was amazing. Very comfortable with two comfortable sitting chairs for having coffee etc. The staff was very friendly.

The hotel is definitely one of old school charm I believe built in the 19th century. It has one of the old time elevators inside a cage which was charming but on more than one occasion someone on one floor would forget to close the outer door which would render the elevator useless. Certainly not a reflection on the staff, just a note.

The restaurant prepared dinners very well and the breakfast buffet was nice as well. The hotel is located right in the venter of shopping and dining and is right on the bus and team route for easy travel. Highly recommend

Did not enjoy our stay. We booked a junior suite and was disappointed by the lack of amenities and lack of value. Our $700 room felt like it should be less than half of what they’re commanding. The room was underwhelming, the public spaces were small, and the breakfast was standard at best. Very poor value for money.

The elevator was too small to fit more than one couple, should stay there to come back. At our first day someone in level 6 didn’t close the door. Fortunately we were in 5 th level, wanted to go down. I went to that level and closed the door to start its working again.

We were excited to stay here on the last night of our trip, but were underwhelmed. Our room was not ready upon arrival, the lobby was packed with suitcases. We were told there were three weddings scheduled over the weekend. They failed to remember to bring our car around as scheduled with the valet. The service was not of a standard I would expect and the property was a little worn. It was ok, not great. The location was very nice and the bed and rooms were comfortable.

I enjoyed my stay in the hotel, but especially wanted to thank one front desk employee, who personally resolved the problem with one king bed in the room, because we were traveling with a friend, and, of course, it's more convenient to sleep separately.
He organized an upgrade for us, gave us an excellent room, plus personally went to the room to make sure the bedding was organized the way we asked. Unfortunately, and I apologize, I forgot the name of the guy. He is tall, blond, young and super friendly guy - just for the management to recognize who it was, because the rest of the stuff we had a chance to speak to while organizing dinner reservations, taxi to the airport etc. actually weren't as close as friendly and professional as that guy.
Please give my special thanks to that guy, because he really made a good impression of the whole experience in your hotel!

Location is super convenient to Nybroplan area and ferries. Vasa museum and Svanse area are within a 15 minute walk. Harbor views are beautiful. Elevator is tired and only holds 2 people when they have bags so be comfortable with stairs as busy times and someone forgetting to close the safety gate at another floor can add challenge.

Overall it’s a great hotel but it definitely should be updated if they want to continue calling it a 5 star. Our room had a great view and layout but the bathroom had some chipped paint and the shower was small and had no glass, letting my water splash the floor outside the shower a lot. Also, it only has one old elevator that is an original elevator, so it looks cool but it’s small. The stairs are convenient but tiring if above the 4th floor.

Staff was super nice and the location is perfect! Overall we enjoyed it but we hope they update soon.
