Except Studio 22, this Town is amazing

For the amount paid, this was not worth it. Its a very rundown property on a road. If you dont care about where u r sleeping for the night than this is the property for that purpose. The Property Manager was a great guy though.

These units look like self-storage units at first glance, but they are actually very nicely done. Check in information was to be provided the day before via email (room number and key code), but that did not arrive. However, we were able to reach the manager by phone and obtain that info. Similarly, a free breakfast was available \"off site,\" but we had to call again to get that location. Breakfast turned out to be very nice. So, apart from the logistical details, our stay was perfectly satisfactory!

Incorrect check in information and no refund

This is the first 1 star review I’ve ever had to post. My wife and I were sent the incorrect self check in information for room 18 and found someone sleeping in the room when we arrived (we even had their security code and were able to open their door). We called the emergency number with no response. As it was late at night, we ended up sleeping in our car. In the morning, we went to the associated Hotel Austur and the manager Yann was very kind, apologetic, and offered a refund through hotels.com. It has been 4 weeks and we have not yet received our refund despite reaching out to the hotel multiple times ourselves and through hotels.com. I am very disappointed as Yann seemed like a decent man and even shook my hand.

Unfortunately, the area was pretty desolate even compared to the other small fishing communities we visited on our trip. Breakfast was not ready when it was supposed to be, so we left without any other food options for miles. The room itself was serviceable. It was a place to sleep on a long road trip, which is what we needed.

The beauty of this stay is the location - Iceland’s largest fjord. It’s a quiet location among the beautiful mountains, very scenic. One small downside is that our room didn’t have blackout curtains for traveling during the latter part of May.

It was good. Nice and comfortable. The refrigerator didn't work, but they came and fixed the situation...literally immediately. Easy self-checkin. My only complaint was the party at the bar next door, where folks were carrying on very loudly until about 3 am. Not the hotel's fault...I don't think.

I am giving a 5 star review for easy check in and affordability. It is simple, but everything you need to spend a night. The place is clean and has a TV. The breakfast, which is included, is similar to those in other places where you pay $14-17, the only difference being the simple setting and cafe.

Taergesen has been around for like, 184 years. The original building is in good repair, decorated with historic memorabilia. The room we stayed in is in a separate building across the driveway. The room was large, clean, comfortable with a private bathroom.
The current proprietor is an energetic, friendly lady who is well-known for her pizza.
Breakfast was included, a beautiful array of sausage, cheese, breads, vegetables, cereals, skyr, and cookies.

I think that if you are a fan of Fortitude, it would be be a thrill to stay here. However, as I have never watched the show, I rated this guest house based on the quality of my stay. We were in the building beside the main house. It is like a motel in that you can drive the car right up to the door of the room. The room was small and very basic. It was in need of new pillows, linens and a paint job. The sparseness of the room did not make it feel warm and inviting. Based on all of the positive reviews that I had read, my friends and I were disappointed. The evening meal In the dining room was satisfactory.

Quiet guesthouse with very accommodating staff

We were upgraded to a room with its own bathroom. This was probably due to us being the only guests there that night, but nice nonetheless.

We ate a delicious dinner at the attached restaurant, which was also run by the guesthouse staff.

Afterward we mostly just stayed in our room until one of the women working there knocked on our door to let us know that the northern lights were out, which was very nice of her.

Compare to other guesthouse in Iceland, think it's a bit pricy. Although breakfast was disappointing and we could hear drunk people were screaming all night from the outside, the room size was good for two and warm.

I spent one night here. It's really off the beaten track. Very quiet and a quaint village. The room was nice and the breakfast was good. I had nice Northern Lights that I could photograph right from the window in my room. The only downside is that there is just one tiny restaurant in the village and it has a very limited menu (and typically Icelandic high prices). Some people at the guesthouse were cooking for themselves, there's a very well equipped kitchen that is free to use. That would be a good option here, but you would have to bring in all of your own food, nothing to buy here.

Friendly welcome from helpful staff

This place was easy to find, centrally located in a small Iceland town. As this is not an expensive place to stay, it´s not so attractive from the outside, and inside it´s like an old English pub with rooms upstairs and bar meals. However the kindness we found there made up for any shabby appearances, and the rate included an excellent buffet breakfast. We also ate good food selected from quite a varied menu. Wireless internet and TV in a communal lounge. Recommended for anyone on a budget who is happy to share a shower room.

We were surprised to find that the guest house was above a bar. However, the bar quieted-down around 11pm, so noise wasn't an issue at bedtime. The restaurant served pizza, and other meals.

There were a number of bathrooms/showers, but no kitchen facilities for guests.

This is more of a historic pub with rooms than a hotel. Located in a very sleepy town, it was quiet and very local feeling. There are no in-room bathrooms and extremely steep stairs giving it a uniquely European feel.

La habitación está a pie de calle, aunque no hay personal que te atienda es muy fácil acceder con las instrucciones que te envían, hay un supermercado cerca y un restaurante, el desayuno incluido lo ofrecen en otro hotel que está a dos cuadras. Lo recomiendo.
