It had few problems. It smelled of stagnant puddle or sewer water or wet dog. I believe it came from the central air. It came on everytime you took the card out of the power thing. There was a gap aside the window that created a draft and let in street noise. The girl at the buffet coughed all over everything. Otherwise good.

This is an excellent location near the train station and ferry station. It is close to shopping on a street just for pedestrians and easy walk to restaurants in the old town area. The rooms are updated and clean with updated amenities and air-conditioning that really works well. Also close to a beach you can swim on.

Have stayed at Montestella a few times over the last 3 or 4 years.. One this occasion had a very small room at the back of the property.. Was clean, very comfortable bed and plenty of luggage space.. The shower however was extremely tight.. A larger person would struggle to use this area effectively.. A little disappointed with the shower situation but otherwise okay with basic breakfast included

The staff were wonderful truly excellent hospitality from start to finish. The hotel itself was a solid 10/10 in every aspect: service, cleanliness, and overall comfort. The location is unbeatable ,close to everything, especially the train station and the ferry port, which made getting around super easy. Breakfast was a highlight as well, with great options and service running until 10:30. Highly recommend!

I stayed here with my daughters and the location couldn’t have been better right in the heart of a great shopping area. We were able to walk to both the train station and the ferry terminal, which made exploring the Amalfi Coast incredibly convenient. Hotel Montestella is a solid choice for anyone visiting Salerno. The location is definitely the highlight — it's right on the main pedestrian street, very close to the train station and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the waterfront. It made getting around super convenient.

The hotel itself is clean and modern, with comfortable rooms. Everything was well-kept and functional. While the room wasn't overly luxurious, it had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.

The staff was polite and professional, and check-in was smooth. They were available to help when needed, although we didn’t have much interaction beyond that.

Overall, a good stay — not overly fancy, but comfortable and well-located. I’d recommend it for travelers looking for a practical and reliable place to stay in Salerno.

Excellent location from railway station & all amenities & places of interest. So easy to use as a base to travel to Popmpei or Paestum or Amalfi coast or even to Rome.
Staff, Angela & Danielle were fantastic- so helpful & so friendly.

Great hotel!

Everyone at the hotel was super friendly. The hotel had all the basic amenities and everything was really clean. It was a good price for the area. I went in the summer and the air conditioner worked great which is important for summers in Italy. The hotel is in a very good area, safe and near lots of shops, restaurants and the beach.

I would definitely stay at Hotel Montestella again. It is centrally located in Salerno in that if you walk in one direction, you reach the \"Old town\" with the restaurants and shops, Cathedral and beach part in 10-15 minutes and if you walk in the other direction, you reach the train station in 8 minutes. If you go \"down\" you reach the \"strip walkway\" in 2 minutes. The staff were helpful and allowed us to check in early at 1230 and let us check out late at 1130. There is also a nice lobby with couches that we hung out at because our train didn't leave till 1600 and the staff told us it was no problem to hang out as long as we needed to. The breakfast was really good--coffee machines made cappuchinos and lattes, and there were scrambled eggs, sausages, an assortment of pastries, bread, fruit, and cereal. I also appreciated that the yogurt was refridgerated--we stayed at several hotels in Europe and yogurt was sometimes left out at room temperatures. The only thing to note about this hotel and it's not their fault--there is construction on the road in front of it. The earliest we heard anything was 0830 and the latest was 1730, so it did not bother us at all, but thought I would mention in case people are sensitive to noise during those times. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Hotel Montestella to anyone staying in Salerno.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montestella. The hotel room was well renovated and modern and the beds were quite comfortable. The staff was also very courteous, and we enjoyed the included breakfast.

The area was unfortunately under construction, which made it harder to explore the surroundings by foot. There was also an unpleasant smell in the bathroom from the toilet. Those were only minor issues however, and I would still fully recommend Hotel Montestella.

Breakfast provided was okay but limited in that they only served scrambled eggs available from the precooked tray, some cured meats and cheese were served, pastries, cereal and fruit.. Most disappointing was drinking water was not provided and charged at 2.5 euro per bottle.. No clear notifications to tell you that it will be charged.. Not happy about that

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Montestella as our base to visit different towns on the Amalfi Coast. Great location in Salerno. Easy to go to attractions, the port and the train station.

Hotel room is big. It feels like having 2 connecting rooms. Bathroom is big and clean. The hairdryer is not the best. Everything else seems fine.

Our room can be noisy as it's facing a busy street. It seems ok as long as the bathroom door is closed.

Breakfast is pretty good with lots of fresh fruits. I would recommend Hotel Montestella for anyone staying in Salerno.

Location is central in old town in the midst of shopping and restaurant. However the street in front of the hotel is undergoing heavy road work and is blocked off. It looks terrible and difficult to walk with luggage.
While the room and hardware are new and good, the software needs to improve. Apparently with so much hi tech installation (there are 6 buttons to control lights and air-con) u cannot adjust the temp in your room! U need to call front desk and they can adjust your temp. We were feeling old despite having a large room with a separate sitting room, and had to call them as we thot the thermostat was out of order! No one told us about it. The front desk is quite u friendly - when we asked them if they provide body lotion, they just said no without any attempt to offer a solution. How can a 4 star hotel don’t have basic toiletries.

My wife and I stayed Thursday through Sunday, the hotel did allow us to check out 30 minutes late till 11am and we were also allowed to leave our luggage while we continued to check out Salerno all day Sunday.

All front desk personnel were great, the entire premises was clean, the breakfast was limited but good, our room was clean, and the balcony had 2 chairs and a table were we could drink and have a smoke.

We stayed here as a more economic alternative to staying in the Amalfi Coast, which was our reason for visiting the area.

This is not a four star property. The location is great and the staff are very good and Salerno is a good spot for visiting many other destinations close by. I had a premium room with a terrace and it’s nice to watch the people walking on the Corso at night. There wasn’t much outside noise to be heard in the room but internal walls are thin. If you are unlucky enough to get active neighbours you can hear a Lot more than you would like during the night. The breakfast spread was basic but adequate and the young staff try hard. The shower is very small! The hotel upkeep is not as good as the photos suggest. But if you want a hotel in Salerno it’s perfectly ok, if you get inactive and quiet neighbours.
