Make sure to have managers overnight phone number before they closed the reception because we had a situation after midnight and they were unavailable to help. They say that the overnight manager phones number was on reception and guess what?? Was closed. We were unable to get phones number. Hopefully another guest help with the situation. The place is great.

This is the perfect jungle mountain getaway. The staff was amazing, and there was a property dog that was so calm and sweet. The breakfast basket was delicious. Sleep was restful. Dinner was ok. Connect with nature. Bring comfortable shoes to walk the property. Be prepared to drive at least 2 hours through crazy mountain terrain. Be safe and prepared to lose service of the gps. But, the views are everything you see in the movies of what earth looked like before man ruined it.

Absolutely gorgeous place nestled in lush green forested mountains 😊 I was absolutely in my element staying here - as were all the other guests I spoke with. I had no desire to leave the site during my stay - for me this was the perfect place to just “be”. I loved the communal areas, my room and my decking with its perfectly located hammock …… to enjoy the views, the sounds, the birds and the stars. I also enjoyed the morning yoga class both days of my stay - perfect way to start the day.
The staff were wonderful - super friendly and helpful. And the food is DELICIOUS 😋 I would stay here again in a heartbeat 😍

We had a wonderful relaxing stay here. Breakfasts are excellent, and although the menu is limited, evening meals are very good. Pool is quite small but refreshing and beautifully clean. Our one recommendation would be to put a small fridge in the room. We will certainly return if we’re back in Puerto Rico.

Unsafe mountain drive to get here- got into accident. Map and directions provided were incorrect coming from Rincon. Poor service without understanding for clients, they only care about their money- not your safety. I booked 1 night stay with my sister on May 5-6th. On our way to Casa Grande mountain retreat from Rincon following instructions provided night before by the retreat and another map to help guide us. We got lost in the mountain area and hit large pot holes causing us to get into an accident with a damaged car. The locals were very nice and helped us to get down to safer road. I called the resort letting them know, with our car accident trying to locate the retreat. We didn’t have anywhere else to stay for the night, asked for help finding a hotel/motel in nearby town. I provided an email with photos of damaged car, and re-explained the situation. I asked for a 50% refund to help and they refused to help. Very bad situation and customer service with no understanding. Both my sister and I were looking for relaxing time for first time to the beautiful Puerto Rico- this day only was very disappointing and unsafe.

Casa Grande, Puerto Rico – Concerns About Service and Management Accountability

My wife and I had a troubling experience with Casa Grande in Puerto Rico that I believe future guests should be aware of.

Before arriving, we called the property several times after taking a wrong turn and needed help with directions. Each call was met with a dismissive tone from the receptionist. At one point, when we explained we were lost, we were told:

“I have no time for you right now. I’m working on something. You’ll need to call back later.”

This tone continued throughout every interaction.

When we finally reached the property—with help from a local resident—we encountered the same attitude in person. Despite being unfamiliar with the area, we were treated as if we were at fault for needing assistance.

I asked to speak with the on‑site manager, who acknowledged that the property had received ongoing complaints about this same receptionist and that they were “working on it.” Due to the poor treatment and the stress it caused, we chose not to stay at the property.

Even though we did not stay a single night, the property declined to issue a full refund.

We escalated the matter to an off‑site manager, who also confirmed he was aware of similar complaints. After initially engaging, he stopped responding.

This retreat is an absolute paradise and oasis that makes the stresses of day to day life melt away! It felt both meditative and romantic. It is easily my favorite hotel I have ever stayed. I wish we had stayed longer. Every part of it was clean and in great condition. The staff were warm and welcoming. You can tell that every detail has been designed with much thought and care. The setting is gorgeous. You are surrounded by mountains, fresh air, waterfalls, and the sounds of birds and frogs. The pool is picturesque and peaceful with the backdrop of mountains in the background. The room was the perfect balance of simple yet luxurious. The shower and porch were amazing. The food also went above and beyond our expectations. The dinner was fresh with good-sized portions and beautiful presentation. It was our favorite meal of our whole trip. We especially loved the mofongo and the steak special. The breakfast was also divine! It included fresh/homemade yogurt, granola, fruit, croissants, jam, nut butter, and juice. I would recommend the waterfall hike and ceiba trail hike. Definitely follow the hotel’s driving instructions. We did not and the drive up was not for the faint of heart - it was basically all unpaved roads, hairpin turns, and potholes. We used the hotel’s instructions on the way back down the mountain and it was a breeze! I hope to return and take advantage of the yoga and spa services next time!

We enjoyed a delicious dinner, and an even better breakfast - yum!

The room was so nice and peaceful. We loved the hammock and stream nearby.

There's a dog that seems to be a hired host, he helps you park your car, walks you to reception, and shows you to your room. He greeted us in the morning as well.

It rained the night we arrived, we decided to take advantage of the open air yoga studio to practice a little flow - the breeze, rain, and chorus from the cocquis, birds, and lush plants made for a magical experience. I'll definitely return.

It is a tough drive to get there and leave but so worth it. On check in with hotels.com prepaid all fees included was told my card would be charged resort fee. Later dinner charged service fee

The place/setting is incredible. The hotel is surrounded by mountains. The pictures will never reflect the real beauty of the setting. The hotel itself has a positive ambiance of relaxation and peace. The pool area is also beautiful (I would only recommend adding heating to the water). The staff is very kind and welcoming.
If you add breakfast to your reservation, the staff can bring you the breakfast outside you cabin. If you choose to have diner in the evening is also very peaceful and you will be receive good attention. The bathroom needs some updates, but I definitely recommend the place.

The hotel includes a Ceiba (tree) trail that reflects the beauty of the mountains and nature. You can visit the river within a walking distance.

The staff was tan amable and welcoming! I had to reach out to the property to adjust dates and they were so accommodating! The propriety was well kept and more beautiful than the fotos. The cafe selection was delicious and reasonably priced. Try the cafe con leche, made from a local coffee farm. Side note: the yoga is $20 a session although the website says it’s included in the price. Just for transparency.
It gets cold up there and the blanket is muslin material, pack some sweats you won’t regret it.
Closest store is 27 minutes away on windy roads. Keep that in mind before checking in and save a trip. Stop by on the side road restaurants for drinks and treats Willie’s sports bar was refreshing and the view is gorgeous (cash only bar).

It is a gem inside the Island. Follow the driving directions given by the staff ahead of time for an easy and beautiful drive. Staff attention to the guest is outstanding way beyond the expectations. There is a hiking trail in the property, moderate for non hikers. As a wildlife biologist I enjoyed bird watching during the day and a night walk with UV lights. There would be plenty of Fluorescent items to enjoy, lichens, chlorophyll covered rocks, a few rocks with sphalerite (orange fluorescence) and an incredible blue fluorescent millipede migration from the ground to the tree canopy. If you enjoy wildlife, make sure to pack a uv flashlight (365 nm).
There are several mindfulness related activities available upon request for additional fees.

Food is excellent, with affordable wines and PR based beers.

Each room have a small balcony with an hammock, from where I am writing this review, and it is so relaxing, that I am going to get a nap.

This was a bit disappointing, especially at the price we paid and what we hoped for during our anniversary trip . The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I arrived I was given a room right next to the pool, with a loud system right outside the door. I immediately requested a room change and they were very kind and gave me a much quieter spot. Definitely call before and request a room away from the pool. It might also be helpful to request a room that overlooks the mountains and not the garden. The garden side is basically a wall of greenery, it’s nice but there’s no view or direct sunlight. This was one of the few places where the pictures are 100% accurate.
My hotel room was cute, clean and comfortable. The restaurant has vegan options but is not vegan. This was a bit of a bummer because Im vegan and I ate most of my meals there. The menu was also the same everyday. So it became a bit “meh”.
I went solo and I was not prepared for how terrifying the drive there would be. I rented a car and followed the instructions they emailed the day before. I do wish they’d e-mail that much earlier and more than once, I’m a planner and had printed directions in case my gps didn’t work only to find out from that email that the gps would likely be wrong and I didn’t have access to a printer. It added a bit of anxiety. The area is all blind turns and narrow roads, so be prepared! During 1 excursion I ended up on a 1 lane dirt road on a cliffside, I almost started to cry 😭 BUT I made it and you (probably) will too:)
The pool was great and I got a massage that was lovely. Overall it was great!

The setting is lovely. We had a great time, with one exception. The restaurant was subpar compared to what it used to be. The “Catch of the Day” was straight out of a Costco or Sam’s bag and was flavorless and tough. The pasta was essentially right out of a Ragu container with some decorative sprinklings on top. The plantains were straight out of a Goya bag. What a disappointment the food was, but otherwise a nice experience.

This place is a lovely tranquil escape in the mountains. I don’t think public transportations would get you there. To us was essential to get a car there and driving experience on curvy, narrow roads helps. Good news is that the paved roads are in great condition.

The hotel has a cozy, luxury-glamping (with an addition to your own bathroom). Our room was simple and clean. Bathroom was clean and with great water pressure, though the shower space itself was tight.
No fridge in the room and you’ll be at mercy of the hotel’s restaurant for food, if you don’t want to drive around 30 minutes to Utuado.good thing is the hotel’s complimentary coffee, tea, and water that were always available in the lobby. The room walls are very thin and you could even hear conversations of the next door.
Staff stared chatting in the laundry bellow our room pretty early and woke us up.

Breakfast some days are self-serve and some are a la cart. We had one day a a la cart and it was okay. We also had diner one day which was good. Their food is vegetarian and vegan and dinner required reservations the day we were there.
We loved going to Utuado and experience the city’s local food.

The highlight? The porch hammock and the magical nighttime sounds of coquí frogs and crickets—so relaxing!

No bugs inside, but some small droppings in the morning (expected in nature). The well-kept pool looked inviting, though we didn’t use it.

Overall, a peaceful stay—I’d definitely return for the serenity!

Casa Grande was a wonderful retreat and perfect for recharging. The pool is spring fed and delightful. The yoga teacher was excellent and a great masseuse. The property is not really close to restaurants (about 25 minutes) but the restaurant on site was delicious and reasonably priced. I'd love to go back.

This is a retreat and lives up to the name, so be prepared for an experiential stay. The area is beautiful. It is in the Rain Forrest similar to a country or mountainous town in the U.S., so at night you'll hear tree frogs and nature. They offer yoga in the mornings but I unfortunately had to leave before that time. There's a restaurant at the facility that is vegetarian or vegan so be prepared for eating delicious meat free dishes. Again, the meals served are really good. I wish we could have stayed longer was my only issue. The staffs amazing and the room is gorgeous!

This mountain retreat was a beautiful place to stay with hiking trails. One trail lead to a waterfall and swimming area, while the other lead into the wooded hills. Beautiful plants on the trails and the grounds. Fun to photograph and identify. The food was delicious and well prepared. I also enjoyed the yoga classes and pool. The room had screened louvered windows which let in a great breeze and the landscaping made it seem like we were in a private jungle treehouse.

A great place to truly unwind, be humbled and appreciate nature .this is truly a place for healing the mind and body as well as get to mingle with a few of the locals . People in surrounding areas were fun and welcoming the weekend yoga sessions were very fun and relaxing. The retreat is plant based so if you’re not familiar with vegan food I suggest giving it a try . If it doesn’t fancy you a 15-20 min drive into town you will find all you need . The staff was very helpful and informative and took very good care of us . I can’t wait to return next year . Thank you again !!

Mosquitoes repellent highly recommended for all outdoors activities. The food is all vegan and excellent especially the breakfast options whether you are vegan or not. Very tasty. Yoga classes which are free are fantastic especially if you are a beginner.

Our overall experience was great. The staff are friendly and helpful the optional meals were excellent, and the setting is beautiful. We enjoyed the hiking trails on the property and the pool. Be aware: the rooms are not air conditioned. The rooms have screened windows and a ceiling fan, which we found to be adequate in mid-June.

Beautiful unique retreat.. the roads were rough getting there in the rain but I made it and never thought about pulling out of the parking lot until checkout. Beautiful pool. Nature. Waterfall areas. Vegan restaurant smelled good, but I opted for more time exploring the grounds.

Beautiful and quiet! Love the contact with the nature, river, beautiful gardens and bohemian theme. Is like a temple inside the beautiful mountains of Puerto Rico. No WIFi, no TV or any distraction, just you and the beautiful nature. Love it!!!
