Comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Well located for ferry port and train station, with tram to both for the less energetic. I checked in late Sunday afternoon which meant reception was not staffed, but intercom provided all information to get in and access key card. Very comfortable bed and perfect pillows. Shower was small, but then I'm quite large! Water temperature regulation was very sensitive. Overall a good stop over

The coffee was cold and the milk was warm. Streets outside were quite dirty. We were unaware that we needed reservations to eat so it was hard to find a place

The property is not worth staying at. We found the room in disgusting condition; the floors weren’t clean, the shower door did not close properly and the shower had mold in it! The amenities promised were not there, including the safe. The staff were rude and careless. Additionally, the AC did not work properly; our room was hot and when we tried to turn the temperature down, nothing happened. Another couple that we spoke to in the hotel had worse issues than us and when they tried to contact the 24 hour emergency line, no one picked up. The wifi was annoying to set up and did not work. Messina is a beautiful city and well worth visiting, but not if you stay at this hotel, avoid at all costs.

It is very noisy at night ( Friday ).The bar next door plays loud music with people drinking in the street until 2am.!!!! Finally they go home at about 3am. It is such a shame because everything else is so good. I can not recommend it for this reason.

The hotel has no Reception, after 19,00 hrs, and even if I reached the hotel at 18,00 hrs, there were not anyone there. That is why, I cannot use wifi of the hotel, as the password left in the room was not the good one; this I found in the next morning...
The rest was ok, exception being the fact that when making check-in in the reception (the next morning), my Identity card was copied by xerox, despite the Law for protection the personal data.

Great view and experience

Ideal location for visiting main sites

On arrival as usual we handed in our passports and were shown to our room. We were well past the earliest check in time but there was still no bedding - apparently it was arriving at 3 pm. We decided to go out and not unpack until the beds were made.
As we passed the desk there was no one there and our passports had been left on the table. We were horrified as anyone could have picked them up. We waited a few minutes but as no one came we picked up our passports and went out. On our return we were asked if we had picked them up. I would advise anyone checking in to wait for their passports to be copied and not let them out of your sight.
The room was adequate but the fridge was extremely noisy and during the night it felt as we were being tortured by the awful noise.
Breakfast was very disappointing. Little choice and sadly no plain croissants so as we didn't like the cream or jam we settled for cornflakes although we had to ask for milk and could not help ourselves.
That said the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel, although it didn't seem like a 4* was in a perfect position for visiting the Cathedral and other sites. We walked from the railway station to the hotel but got a taxi back because it was a long way to drag cases.

We arrived late and were let in remotely. Our room key was ready in the foyer. The room was furnished elegantly. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. After checking in we went down the street and had a great focacce.

Messina hotel close to cites.

Hotel is close to the ferry drop from mainland Italy. Also walking distance to most of the cites. Good size room and decent size bathroom. Clean and charming. Call ahead if you can. This is a small hotel and the few staff it has might be out getting supplies. Recommend.

Difficult to get in on a sunday

We arrived on a sunday and there was no reception and the door to the hotel was locked. We dialed the intercom at the door many times and got no answer. Called an emergency number and only after some long minutes on the line we could get in as a couple was coming out, then got instructions to get the keys in the desk. It is ok not to have reception service all the time, but we wish we would have been warned about it when making the reservation and got some kind of instructions on how to get in, instead of spending 20min outside the door with all our bags on a very hot sunny day.

Nice place but could be much nicer

We stayed in the double bedroom apartment. It was fine, but no outside space (there was a terrace in another block but the key didn't work) and no sofas, so not ideal to relax. Breakfast is free from a local bar, but it's quite a walk out of town and we didn't bother after the first day. It was well kitted out though - very useful to have a washing machine and the kitchen was well stocked.

An intro to Sicily

As a first port of call off the ferry from Salerno the Residenza was great. A late arrival meant they had to leave us a key - no problemo! The rooms are like your own palazzo: tiled floors and friezes in the ceiling. The closest restaurant was great - everything comes from Sicily - even the men! Located just far enough away from the locals doing blocks with the music blaring - reminded me of Newcastle ( AUS )

Terrible! No one was at reception to check us in for the WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE!!! We luckily only managed to get in because the cleaner was cleaning the doorway and left it open. Completely unacceptable. Breakfast was really awful and very stingy. Do not stay here.

Summer lodge for Italian speakers

We arrived at the hotel around 20:00 on Saturday night after long journey. Then found out the reception and the door into the hotel were closed. We rang the number on the notice on the door, panicking. The first word I heard was \"I don't speak English\". After felt-like hours of panic with many phone calls and confused conversations, at last, the person on the other end of the line decided to send a member of the staff when I asked for refund as we couldn't find a card key into the room. The reception is open 8:00-12:00 and 16:00-20:00 on weekdays and only in the morning on weekends, and unfortunately we don't speak Italian and they only speak very basic English.
Our \"room\" (it had 1 spacious double bed room, small single room, a big terrace, bathroom and small kitchen with cooker and fridge!) was clean, but heating wasn't working. I imagine if you stay there during the summer intending to cater yourself, that place must be fantastic, however, our timing wasn't good.
Even though breakfast was included, you must think that you won't get one, as what prepared on the table were: 2 jags of juice, water, bags of dried bread, jam and butter. There was coffee machine next to it, so my husband and I had a couple of (plastic) cups of coffee as the space for breakfast was freezing and nothing wasn't appetizing.
Our experience was awful, but if you speak Italian and intending to stay in Messina for a while during summer, I guess that wouldn't be as bad.
But why is it 4 star hotel??

Late arrival NOT guaranteed

In booking this hotel I had a late arrival guaranteed, and as such expected the hotel to be open when I arrived at 8pm (not particularly late). However the hotel reception had closed and left no contact details that were visibel from the street in order to have an out of hours receptionist return to the hotel to check in. Our only luck was that a fellow guest arrived who could speak Italian and English and had contact details for the out of hours reception. If I have requested and have been guaranteed a late arrival, and have paid up front for the hotel, I expect to be able to check in. I do not recommend this hotel and would not stay there again.

Trovo che rispetto qualità prezzo questo posto sia molto buono, sia per la logistica ed anche per il supporto ricevuto dallo staff. Io ho pernottato all' ultimo piano dove c'era un terrazzino comodo con vista sul porto, peccato per la pioggia.

- Buena ubicación, estás a 15 / 20 minutos a pie de todos los sitios de interés.
- Zona segura.
- Variedad de lugares para comer cerca.
- Habitación amplia y limpia.

Aspectos negativos:
- Ducha MUY pequeña, te tenías que bañar con la puerta de la ducha abierta porque de otra manera no te podías mover tranquilo. Por otro lado el agua pasaba de quemarte a estar muy fría y se acumulaba el agua en el piso de la ducha.

Wir sind um 14:05 eigetroffen und wurden nicht reingelassen. Andere Gäste sagten, dass die Rezeption geschlossen sei, da gerade „siesta“ gemacht wird.
Nachdem man bei einer Zentrale der Hotelkette angerufen hat, wurde das Hotel in Messina kontaktiert, woraufhin uns die Tür geöffnet wurde.
Der Versuch einzuchecken hat jedoch weiterhin nicht geklappt, da die Suche nach einer offenen Rezeption vergeblich war. Nach einiger Wartezeit kam die Angestellte endlich runter.
Im Zimmer angekommen haben wir fast keine Ähnlichkeit zu den Bildern online vernommen. Ob dies im ganzen Hotel so ist, können wir nicht beurteilen.
Um die Küche zu nutzen muss man einen 20€ Aufpreis zahlen, jedoch frage ich mich wie die Personen, die sich dazu entscheiden hier zu kochen, dies tun sollen, da es kein Besteck, Töpfe etc. gibt.
Der Boden im Badezimmer war nass und die Toilette nicht besonders gut gereinigt. Alles in allem wurden unsere Erwartungen stark untertroffen. Es war keine Katastrophe, aber sicherlich keine empfehlenswerte Unterkunft.

Das Hotel wurde scheinbar vor mehreren Jahrzehnten gebaut und seitdem nicht mehr instandgehalten. Im Zimmer sowie im Bad waren die Fugen herausgebrochen sodass dort Schimmel entstanden ist. Aktuell laufen Renovierungsarbeiten die in Kombination mit der nicht vorhandenen Schallisolierung für einen entsprechenden Geräuschpegel sorgen

Struttura centrale ma da ristrutturare. I mobili nelle stanze sono datati e le tappezzerie sono da cambiare (sporche e consumate). Nella doccia manca una mensola per poggiare i saponi. Le persiane sono piene di polvere e aprendole si ci sporca, così come le appliques nella stanza. La prima colazione quasi inesistente magrado sia a pagamento! Non credo ritornerò.

Hotel molto carino in un palazzo antico vicinissimo al centro. Stanza tutto sommato comoda e pulita. Arredi in stile antico ma in buone condizioni estetiche è funzionali. Unica nota stonata il condizionatore un po’ rumoroso e fastidioso durante la notte. Colazione discreta con brioches fresche. Per chi è di passaggio a Messina ottima soluzione.

Non riesco ad entrare nella doccia perché davanti alle porte c'è il water. Solo stamattina riesco finalmente a collegarmi al Wi-Fi. C'è la cucina ma i fornelli non funzionano e non abbiamo potuto preparare il latte per il bambino neonato.

Bel palazzone antico in centro

La camera era immensa, molto comoda e in pieno centro, il personale gentile. L’unico neo è stato la pulizia. Briciole ai piedi del divano e sotto i cuscini dello stesso. Polverosi gli infissi interni, sporca la pirta del bagno. Pochissimi accessori in bagno.
