I was there in the off season in Autumn, and so it's a bit hard to judge atmosphere as the village was very quiet. The staff were friendly and the room we stayed in was spacious enough. Our room's front door opened straight to the outside, which would make for easy access to the room if coming in off the snow during Winter.

Stayed here with my son for a trip to hike the summit and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond, even allowing us a late checkout so we could complete our hike after bad weather the day before.
Breakfast was amazing!!
Great views and a stone throw away from the village.
Perfect location and excellent service—would definitely stay again.

Stayed over Easter in a 'family' (2 room) place. Location was fantastic for walking, but no parking is provided so was a ~20 min to drop the car off. Staff were AMAZING, easily the nicest group of humans I've met in a hotel - the service provided is what made us overall enjoy this place. Food was AMAZING - breakfast (included) and dinner was incredible.

The room was a big let down compared to the rest of the hotel which was really nicely decorated/well looked after.

All the wood/paint in the bathroom was bubbling from water damage, there was loads of grout missing in the shower which made it look dirty and the rooms were very small for 5 people. We found a dead bug behind the curtains (the cleaners must have not fully opened them) and my daughter found a 5p coin (it wasn't ours) in the bed. Some of the power sockets were hanging off the wall or didn't work, the whole room needed some maintenance.

The main bedroom had a double bed with limited space around it and the other 'bedroom' was filled with 3 single beds immediately as you came in the front door. It was fine for us for Easter but if we needed to store winter gear/bike gear there was very little space to hang up clothes to dry out. The carpets are very tired looking in the room.

The rooms were quiet.

Was great value, and would consider staying here again if they sorted out some of the issues in the room. Would recommend - but considering this when booking.

This rooms are very dated and old.Carpets very old and worn thin at some places,paint peeling off the walls and ceiling.Showers old and grubby.TV was broken and only replaced after numerous request.On a lighter note,the resturant and bar were good and staff very friendly.However the weekend we stayed,they were very busy and appeared to be short staffed.

The good: Breakfast with a mountain view was a lovely experience, very central / easy walk to the slopes and back. Accommodating with luggage after check out. Somewhere secure(ish) to store gear. Room was clean.

The bad: rooms needs updating / maintenance - carpet in the rooms is old, the bathroom light kept strobing and turning itself off then back on, water was inconsistent in the shower (at times scalding hot then cold). You can hear conversations in other rooms (we luckily had quiet neighbours).

Also note there is no lift and no assistance to carry luggage up or down the stairs, which was fine for us but might not be ok for others.

Back-packers compact quality for 4 star prices. Seriously in need of maintenance and updating. Old and cheap fittings and furnishings. Very basic breakfast that wasn't topped up. No parking or lifts. Lots of steep and uneven stairs and no help offered.

Lovely stay. Was a little disappointed that the restaurant and bar were not open but understand it was off season. Also understood per ad there was parking on site but had to park in public parking some distance away, difficult when I was very sore from hiking. The room was very small, window didn’t have a fly screen so we couldn’t leave it open at night. The fridge had been turned off and it took a while until it was generally cold in there. ( that’s inconvenient when you bring items that need refrigeration )At breakfast there was juice ( apple and orange )that was off. Both bottles have been opened before and when pointed out it was not thrown away but put back in the basket. I had to ask for cut up fruit and juice as the basket was empty. The breakfast staff was not very attentive! There was no parking in front of Hotel. The restaurant was closed and only pub food was available. Generally the Hotel looked a bit outdated. The staff was friendly and the room was clean.

Great helpful staff, good dining options, great breakfast. Location is central, but if you have to park in the P4 overnight parking, learn to catch the shuttle bus whenever possible.
I don't know if I'd want to stay here in winter, as my room didn't have aircon, and would be quite cold. The walls are also quite thin and the noises from other bathrooms can be a bit off-putting.

The Denman is a lovey building, but the rooms are incredibly tiny for a very high price. There were beds only, no seating or space to relax. No space for bags, toiletries etc. rooms also need significant maintenance. Daily housekeeping was a change of towels. Way overpriced and not great value for money.

Limited to non existant facilites available, restaurant closed and even vending machine broken.The Denman was dissapointing, lots of stairs not easy for more mature people to get around. We booked & paid for 2 nights and left after the first night. Unfortunately there was no staff at the reception to tell them why we were leaving. We could not recommend or return to the Denman

Very tired and rundown accommodation with no in house parking .advertised breakfast included which consisted of dry muesli not sufficient.
Check in was poor and given the price of the room it certainly didn’t meet expectations in-house service was unacceptable. Best thing about peppery was location. Definitely not suitable for summer stay. No fly screens and no cooling. Disappointed and very expensive

Internet isn’t working in that particular room. There was no offer of room change or any service for the inconvenience. The exhaust fan in the bathroom isn’t working so the room is constantly steamy and wet. There’s no onsite parking for the particular hotel although there’s parking in the public area about 10-15mins away.

Picture shown when booking was not room we got, after complaining about the tiny old room we got we got upgraded to the room we should of got to begin with. Also it was -4 degrees and the heater didn’t work and toilet was leaking and smelt of urine. Breakfast $25 for toast and cereal a rip off.

It was disappointing that the hotel didn’t offer what we expected it to. We booked for the restaurant, which was closed. Breakfast was served from 8-9, very late for hotel standards and we couldn’t eat as we left before then. No parking on site and when we showed our upset, hotel check in staff said that we would be a fun couple to have stay very sarcastically. Only one bottle of water, no air conditioning so room was extremely stuffy and hot.

4-stars is a generous rating for this hotel. 2 1/2 stars is more like it. The Denman is pretty basic: small rooms, cramped common areas, cinder block walls, cheap fixtures, and a skimpy breakfast buffet. On the positive side, the rooms were clean and the owner was very friendly. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything much better in Thredbo, at least that was open in the summer. Renting a condo, which seemed to be in greater supply, is probably a better option.

The owners and staff were wonderful. All necessities were provided. Very noisy however. Thin walls and could hear everything the neighbours said and did. Fire alarms went off in the middle of the night a couple of times. Bathroom tiny. Bed and pillows hard. Nice view from room up the slopes. Conveniently situated. Great food.

Slightly treacherous hike downhill to slopes

Decent hotel; strong service and fair prices at formal dining resto. Better value than peers like T-bar Restaurant that shares similar pricing but suffers from surly service and tight seating. However, Denman is done in by slightly steep walk downhill with two flights of steps in 2nd half of walk to ski slopes. Not ideal on days with melting snow, rendering road slippery under ski boots. Certainly not ideal for ski beginners or families with young kids who juggle multiple pieces of ski equipment on downhill walk. I stored my ski equipment lower down the hill at friends’ ski locker so no issue pour moi.

Overpriced for the quality of hotel’s finishing and front desk service (feels 3-star) - A$2,700 for 6 night’s in July. This appears to be market rate in thredbo (maybe Oz generally?). Much better value to be had in Europe at that price.

Rooms could be cleaned better on a daily basis, our bathroom was \" cleaned\" there was still hair everywhere.
Breakfast was simple but fine, milk options where only skim and full cream. There should be at least one other option for people with intolerances ie almond, lactose free.
The young lady and the older man at reception where lovely however the older lady had no customer service at all and this was on 2 occasions. On checkout nothing was asked about how the stay was from the older lady nor a smile only a \"ok\" once key was returned.

If you're after a place mentally located right near the lifts then the Denman is great. Saturday and Sunday nights they also have a great guitarist in the bar downstairs which is really fun.

Disappointing stay due to it being way over priced for what you get. The room was TINY. The windows were also tiny. The balcony was dirty, had cob webs everywhere and dead pot plants. The room was really outdated for the price. We payed an additional $17 for parking.
We stayed at Falls Creek ski resort a few weeks ago for only $50 more and got a brand newly furnished room, private balcony and hot tub, living room, kitchen etc. Really disappointing stay for the cost.

Great comfortable hotel in the middle of Thredbo

The Denman is a comfortable hotel situated right on the Thredbo village.
Good facilities, WIFI in common areas and clean modern rooms.
All in all it was a pleasure to stay the Denman.
The only downside (and a word of warning for future guests), there is no parking available. Be prepared to walk up to a kilometre for parking.

Staff at reception and throughout our 4 night stay were excellent - friendly, courteous and efficient. The room however left a bit to be desired. This was an “off season” booking, the Snowy Mountains in late Spring, so very little demand for accommodation. I expected more for the price we paid per night. The room was very basic, and tired. Grout missing in the tiles in the shower, bathroom floor not cleaned in places, all in all, a tad shabby. Facilities were very basic - no microwave or toaster, tiny table too small for two people to share for a take-away meal, and worst of all NO COOLING!! - not even a ceiling fan, which made the nights in late November quite uncomfortable. Couldn’t prop the French doors open, as no bug screens. At the price I expected air conditioning! In short, we had a great holiday, but certainly wouldn’t to stay there again unless the price was significantly reduced, or the facilities significantly improved.
