Ashnil Samburu Camp is a luxury tented camp set against the spectacular backdrop of the mighty Ol Olokwe mountain, fronting the Ewaso Nyiro River. Thirty exclusive tents are spread along the shady riverbanks under a thick stand of doum palms.
The camp features an outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun lounges, a garden, and a lounge bar offering stunning views of the African savanna. Each tent features a decked terrace overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River.
The restaurant, with its river views, serves a varied menu of oriental, traditional, and international cuisines. A range of activities is available upon request, including game drives, nature walks, cultural visits to a Samburu village, and bush meals.

This is such an amazing location, and the staff are amazing! You will absolutely see animals! We would wake up to elephants and reticulated giraffes crossing right in front of our site. Monkeys will hang out on your patio and baboons are constantly nearby. We made the mistake of not locking the zipper (absolutely on us! they tell you to do so multiple times) and had some monkeys enter and wreck havoc! However, staff dealt with it quickly and were super nice about it! Don't just close the zipper- the monkeys know how to open it and it needs to be locked down. It's got a lush and green look to it too so it's a small reprieve from the hot Samburu summer. Something that wasn't made clear was that they do tend to have times when they turn off the power to so prepare yourself. The food is nice and was always different. We had a lovely time and will recommend it to anyone.

Nice camp in need of a couple improvements
In Buffalo Springs National park, the resort is situated right on the river. The staff are very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are really nice as i was lucky enough to get a river view, sometimes elephants come to the river to drink. The pool area is really nice.
Every meal is a buffet with lots of selection, however the quality of the meals is average.
A second problem is for the first couple hours at night all these little bugs fall on your bed. Only lasts for a couple hours but really annoying when you're trying to fall asleep.
Finally while the game drive driver was very knowledgeable and nice, he wasn't that good at spotting animals and we were always the first people back from the have drives.

We did not enjoy our stay at Ashnil Samburu at all, which is quite sad because we stayed at another Ashnil camp shortly after our Samburu experience and it was a night and day experience!
The staff were not friendly or helpful at all.
We had problems with our room (specifically the toilets) and were told to \"push it down with the toilet brush\".
The food was okay (it was basic and average).
We had a group of 10 in our party and we all agree we would not stay there again on our next trip to Kenya.

Very good tent experience. Amazing food and staffs. Enjoyed the relaxing time in the hotel very much! However, wish the electricity to be 24hrs for more convenience.

The hotel takes its name from Mount Shaba (1,525 m), a volcanic mountain that became dormant around 5,000 years ago and lies on the border of the reserve.
The lodge is built in an oasis around the natural terrain of this breathtaking volcanic desert, about 350 km and 5 hours by road or 45 minutes by air from Nairobi and 2 hours from Nanyuki and Meru. The bus station is around 10 km away and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is situated approximately 75 km away.
This lodge offers a unique experience that extends beyond game drives in the reserve. Comprising 85 guest rooms, the establishment features a lobby with 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, a games room, a TV lounge, a kids' club, a bar, a pub and a restaurant.
