The resort strives to preserve the island environment - avoiding plastic, reducing waste, making its own water and supplies. An incredible local community works to make that possible. The vegetation is just magnificent. You can walk around and truly feel the wild nature above.
The reef is the main reason we chose Nika and it exceeded our expectations. Nurse sharks, Black fins, turtles and all kinds of tropical fish populate the corals, you can snorkel around the island the be able to see them (also depending on the season).
The daily food choice is nice and healthy: lots of fresh fish, Asian ingredients, pasta and a strong Italian footprint.

Few bullet points:
*The original villas are incredible, but they take much of the landscape and the public beach surface is limited
*Some activities seem too expensive. If you really want guests to understand the ocean and its fragility, prices should be more competitive
*Entertainment is very limited. Maybe you want to consider updating the evening sessions. The last thing guests wants to see at bar is a ppt - we read presentations all the time in our office! Maybe you could set these at different times of the day, based on guest interest. Evenings should be more Maldivian, more music, more fun
*Sometimes prices show older tax. Lotus Spa also not transparent, with fees changing from a promo to the final price
*Beach staff not responsive at times. We waited 3 days to try a kayak; every morning we had to search sunbed cushions ourselves.

Not what can be expected as a 5-star hotel resort

Pro- the beach and island are beautiful, fresh fruit and seafood available, staff are friendly and helpful.

Con- too many mosquitoes and bugs outdoors, food were over cooked and taste was average, limited hot water, jacuzzi could not be used due to the old boiler system, any additional activities were expensive but not professional, meals included in half/ full board were not good so needed to pay extra to order from menu.

Overall we were quite satisfied with Nika Resort we rated it 4 out of 5. Most staff were friendly and the food was of high standard.

PROS - Value for money, smaller more intimate resort with not too many guests, very accommodating as I have various dietary restrictions. Rooms in good condition. Also stunning views and amazing reefs.

CONS - expensive food and tours.
We had one tour booked to rashdoo reef and it was extremely choppy. Instead of cancelling/rescheduling the tour they still went ahead. On the tour we were trying to swim with strong currents and we had 3 poor swimmers (out of 5) in the tour which was hard. Because it was so windy and choppy the water was very murky and there were not that many fish. The most annoying thing was the staff made it out to be amazing without admitting the less than ideal conditions.
Just another note the resort will charge you whenever they can (which is understandable) so just ask the staff if you are unsure. Examples are water with meals, tea and coffee from the bar. On our departure we also had to pay for our last buffet meal so if in doubt just ask.

The staff members that are assets are the wait staff, Victor and the chefs they were extremely accommodating. However some of the tour staff and reception area staff were sometimes abrupt.

Highly recommend this resort to anyone as we had an amazing experience. The villas are beautiful and the island is very scenic. We would go back if we had the opportunity.

The beach vila was very dirty don’t book any beach vila water vila is okay because I tried both and for the beach vila it’s has too many Gecko and cockroach it comes from the window doors because it’s quite old building

Incredible!

Incredible, idyllic resort. The reef surrounding the island is stunning and has an abundance of wildlife - black tip reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, sting rays and thousands of fish are just some of the things we saw. The private beach was amazing and for many of the days of our stay we had two resident black tip reef sharks swimming in our bay! Amazing! The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is delightful and plentiful and the trips to other reefs are expensive but totally worth it! The accommodation is beautifully built and decorated too. We will be back one day for sure!

The island and resort was beautiful, we have 3 young children and the family beach Villa was the perfect set up. It's often difficult to travel with children, but we couldn't have asked for a better place. We could be swimming at our private beach while the baby napped right inside as the baby monitor reached. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Also, there was great snorkeling along the house reef. The meals are scheduled as follows: 9am breakfast, 2pm lunch, 9pm dinner. I wish I had known ahead of time as our kids are usually going to bed about 730, so we had some schedule adjusting to do. Also, the island time is 2 hours ahead of the official Maldivian time as an FYI. there are general bugs and ants around, which is to be expected on a tropical island, so don't be surprised when you see them, and they will come inside if you leave food out!

Nice hotel, stunning views with impeccable service

Was an amazing stay with picturesque views, only one word for them is WOW, Impeccable service, personal attention to every guest & attention to detailing sets them apart from any other hotel, whether it was chef customizing the indian dishes for us or whether it is free diving trainer who makes it easy for non-swimmers to go under water or whether hotel manager and reception staff receive & see off personally. Bruna manages the hotel as personal visitors visits their home not in a hotel. Keep up the good work guys!!

Sublime experience, top level island and resort

The island is fantastic, the diving center team extraordinary, food simply excellent, rooms incredibly confortable. We have bee also lucky with the weather, and really didn't want to leave the resort anymore: you feel among friends, in a pieceful environment , with all you need and even more.

Beautiful island but massively over priced

Staff were great, poor excursions,£700 for 4 hours fishing and didn't even fish, make sure you booked everything as there are lots of hidden items not included in the 15 thousand pound I paid for 2 adults and 2 kids for two weeks , very clique with Italians which is fine but don't expect to be included in much if your aren't Italian , our cleaner Ahmed and waiter Mohammed were fantastic and a credit to the resort ! The spa lady will drive you mad hustling for treatments which I found too much

Great hotel BUT rude guest relations manager!

First of all, I want to say that all the staff that works there are amazingly kind and helpful. I'm giving a bad rating only for one person working there who doesn't fit for a 5 star resort. I'm talking about an old woman called Lucy, who is in charge of the checkins and excursions. She shouted after asking about the snorkelling trip that is included in the all inclusive package, it seems she was only interested in selling paid tours. After all, we didn't go to any excursion because we didn't felt welcome. She made us feel uncomfortable several times during our stay and finally we just opted to avoid her. You can find her in the bar next to the reception drinking sparkling wine, but if you want to have a peaceful holiday, I strongly recommend you also to avoid her. I am sad to see someone so unfriendly in a position that many people would dream of working on. Especially sad after seeing how kind and friendly the Maldivian people are. I am 100% sure that a Maldivian would do their job much better ensuring the stunning 5 star service of Maldives.

Besides that, the resort is truly beautiful and we had a great time. I would still recommend this hotel to everybody. It's an old resort but the rooms are very well maintained, spacious and comfortable. We split our stay between water villa and beach villa, and we were very happy with that because both of them has its own charm. Overall, great integration of the luxury experience and nature.

AMAZING Nika Resort!!!

It was amazing! The hospitality is the best even comparing with 5-star hotels in developed countries. Lucy was the Guest manager and she was extremely welcoming. She is approachable and available virtually anytime (as if she works 24 hr a day). We went for full board meals - I have to say their food were way my expectations (Buffet style breakfast, Lunch & Dinner with 3 course meal). If I were to go again, I would opt for half board as the portion are all quite large. Note that drinks are not included but they're all reasonable price (i.e: US$3 for bottle water, US$4-5 for a beer - add 22% tax for everything that you purchased in Maldives). Our waiter, Hassan, was very attentive too.

The island itself is extremely private - hardly see any other guests outside of meal times. We stayed in Family villa with private beach - just swim 1-2 mins away and bingo beautiful corals with colourful fish.

Been to Thailand, phillipines, hawaii - honestly nothing can be compared to this. I'll definitely come back again to this resort. Just heard from colleague that comparable place would be Tahiti but it's more convenient reach Maldives.

Nika was the third and final island stop in the Maldives. It was incredible, we were greeted with incredible service that lasted the whole trip. The rooms were lovely and the food was great. They even set up a private beach, candid light din din for us.

Excellent resort, beware extra $$ for seaplane

Great resort experience! We went on our honeymoon and weren't disappointed. This is an Italian centered resort, with most guests being italian. However, all staff spoke fluent English. We did full board, which includes all meals, and that's the best way to go. Good variety of food. Rooms were clean and had good basic amenities, not a luxury resort, but very comfortable. We had two cockroaches in our room that we had to remove, but otherwise very clean. Beaches are beautiful. Unless you get the beach villas, you need to use the public beaches (we got the garden villa). Beaches were not too crowded, so it's not an issue. Main complaint is that you need to use a sea plane to get to the resort from the airport, and it costs a lot ($400 per person). Our seaplane got delayed, so we had to sit in the terminal for 3 hours after arriving in Male, which was very inconvenient. Not the fault of the hotel, but something to be aware of. Otherwise, we loved the experience - might get bored if you stay beyond 3-4 days, as it's a small island, but great place to relax!

Absolute Paradise

My wife and myself stayed here in late Sept for my 50th birthday and it was paradise , from the moment we booked the communication with the resort admin was first class and everything went like clock work .

we stayed in a deluxe beach villa which was worth every penny , the resort spa was unbelievable and the lady the ran it sorted us out with our own custom package which meant that a visit was made every day , highly recommended .

We were fortunate to have Adam as our waiter , he was magnificent , the food was beautiful and the
chefs curries were out of this world .

We made a few excursions , the deep sea fishing ( caught 3 sailfish and 4 wahoo wahoos ) , the snorkeling with manta rays ( never to be forgotten ) the coral reef snorkeling and the night time fishing were amazing .

The resort staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and deeply proud of this resort , quite rightly so .

We were all inclusive and the 2 bars stocked top quality drink , the cocktails were immense and there were only a few that you had to pay extra for , we also got water every day provided in our Deluxe Bungalow .

I cannot recommend this resort highly enough and I will be back , only this time I will have my trainers with me for the 7pm football match with the staff .

PARADISE!

From the moment you land in Malé Nika handles everything. The airport assistant was amazing meets you right at your gate and helps with bags and guides you to the seaplane check in. After that is all settled you go to the lounge enjoy a coffee then he stays with you until you are boarded ready to go on the seaplane. 25 min ride to Nika over the beautiful Maldives islands. Once you land you are met by the wonderful and cheerful Lucy! Lucy is the best and makes sure everything about your trip is perfect. We checked in to our private beach villa and could not believe how nice it was. We were very excited. Every meal was amazing and our server Adam was so sweet and always made our meals enjoyable. The staff was outstanding the resort was always clean the food and drinks great. Nothing else to really say about this magical island. It was the best vacation I have ever been on! THANK YOU NIKA!!

Not a 5-star hotel

Maldives and the sea are beautiful but this resort is not recommended.
(1) they forgot to book our sea-plane transfer and we ended waiting for 8+ hours for the transfer (effectively we lost the whole day of swimming due to that)
(2) we had a mouse in the room, MICE were living in the roof of the bungalow
(3) THERE IS NO BATHTUB, meaning that none can use the bathroom after one has a shower
(4) food is really bad, the cheapest meat, no shellfish, no steak, no sushi, little choice, mostly pizza and pasta and the cheapest meat one can buy -- definitely not what is expected from a 5-star hotel in Asia
(5) the restaurant opening times are very inconvenient -- dinner is served 21.00 to 22.30, meaning that one eats very late and goes to bed with a stuffed belly, really unhealthy
(6) due to the very late dinner time, all get very hungry around 19.00, after swimming, and people are forced in that way to order additional food -- PIZZA COSTS 40 USD, platter of fruits is 20 USD
(7) WATER IS NOT SERVED -- you are charged for water and there is no shop where you can buy the water -- water costs 4 USD
(8) there is a shop at the island and the prices are enormous -- an aloe vera aftersun gel (200ml) costs 40 USD -- make sure that you don't forget such things as you will be plundered

Really not recommended, estate is in need of thorough refurbishment, it is heavily overpriced, and all is made to take even more money from the visitors. Very disappointing.

Our overall experience was passable but under no circumstances would I consider this resort 4 or 5 star. The condition of our room was acceptable but very tired. The adjoining room had paper thin walls - we were sharing our romantic evenings with our neighbour which happened to be a family of four, squashed into a room for two people. It was terrible. The guest comfort resort staff were friendly however the admin staff / reception staff were totally obnoxious and uninterested.
The restaurant offered a good selection of nicely cooked food but it didn't change in the eight days we were there, so became rather boring. We were not given information related to any of the facilities available to us except a constant hard sell for excursions and trip - therefore we only found the pool on the day we were departing.
Overall a really disappointing experience - I would not recommend this resort to anyone, particularly not to a couple looking for some quiet time together.

Nika Island, an Italian look of the Maldives

My family stayed at Nika for three nights. The island is small, easily a five-minute-walk around the inner island. Beach villas have private beaches. These are very clean (~30 meters in width); sand is mostly soft. Each villa will get its collection of tropical trees, in which exotic creatures find their home. Ocean is great. A variety of triggerfishes and surgeonfishes keep snorkeling colorful. A shy baby reef shark calls the public beach its residence.
Food-wise, Nika provides an A La Carte meal everyday (at lunch or at dinner), and features Italian dishes especially. Pineapples, melons, and papayas are fresh local products. Coconut is not on the list. One thing to note is that all drinks served during lunch and dinner are NOT included in the full board package. A lovely sight is the pet parrot named Ruby, who shows up occasionally at meals.
Nika has a diving center which arranges open water dives and gives PADI courses. Special thanks to Fabio. The Italian Divemaster is friendly and helpful with guests, and is a reliable guide for diving in the area.
Excursions, sadly, are mostly disappointments for my family. We went fishing but got none; manta seeking and no rays; yet when we hopped on for the sunset aperitif cruise, we saw flying fishes and dolphins.
In general, Nika was a good choice for us, who are first time visitors to the Maldives. Maybe we would give other islands their shots before deciding whether Nika is the one we would like to frequent.

Babymoon bliss! Snorkeling paradise!

I am 6 months pregnant and my husband and I enjoyed the most fantastic week here. We rented a water villa, and went with full board options (hubby went for all inclusive package). Of course dont forget everything is taxed so a beer at 5usd is taxed by the government & the hotel. I think it would be much more expensive and worrisome to do the a la carte. The food was very varied, and things like the food not being hot from the buffet might annoy some people.

Honestly the service and care from all staff was fantastic, from the hostesses arranging excursions, to the Dive master Andre, to them arranging a buggy to pick us up and drop us off during the day as it is quite a walk for me in the heat.

Our water villa was massive, the only downside is the AC is not powerful enough & is only in the bedroom, so we spent a lot of time lying on our bed, in the cool overlooking the sea, which really is not so bad! it encouraged us to not turn the telly on in the lounge!
I think the snorkeling was exceptional, and this is important as we spent at least a few hours each day in the sea, you dont have to travel to another island to see eceptional sea life, and i have dived all over the world.
Remember that getting here from male is a sea plane trip of 25 mins and around 500usd pp return, which the hotel arranges for you.
If you are looking for privacy(beach villas have own beach & spa bath) & absolute perfection go to Nika.you will never forget the memories you make in this slice of heaven

Nika resort promises and delivers the ultimate get-away for couples. Rooms all either have private beach or situated on top of the water. We had a villa on the water, and the sun-rise straight into the bedroom, un-explainable beautiful.

It is very difficult to feel dissatisfy in a Maldives hotel. Every picture is a poster there. As for Nika, rooms are spacious but a bit tired, food is so so and lack of choices. I have been to a few resorts in Maldives, Nika is value for money. House reef is good and I like the private beach concept of the beach villa too.

A nice resort in Ari Atoll

Wanted to book for 2 water villas but only 1 available. Turned out a nice experience having 1 water villa and 1 beach villa for a group of friends so that we can try the different locations. Water villa is good for checking the house reef around. Lots of fishes but beware of the current. Always swim with friends and with a floating tool if you are not a good swimmer. The water villa is very nice and spacious with 2 satellites linked to the sun deck. The only thing I don't prefer is the sand area outside the sun deck as you would get some sand into the room.

As for the beach villa, it's good for friends gathering in your own private beach. The baby sharks are regular visitors throughout the day, but no harm at all.

The only problem is that we had encountered some small bites by some flea in the couch of the beach bar and restaurant. Gotta prepare some ointment for yourself. Other than that, Nika is a nice place to check out. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Heaven on Earth!

I stayed on Nika with a friend, and the service was exceptional. Rooms are cleaned twice a day, the food was delicious and the excursions were well thought out. We ended up going snorkelling, learning to scuba for the first time and sunset fishing. The staff knew the balance between friendliness and privacy and we were very well looked after. We stayed in both the garden villa (does the job) and the private beach villa (incredible luxury). The sand is perfect, as is the clear water.

We were satisfied with the whole resort. I was especially thankful to Vector, who was in charge of excursion. The following three points are desired to be improved.
1. A group of resort owners behaved every day in the same way as customers everywhere in restaurants and bars. They were drinking from the daytime and eating at good seats in the restaurant.
2. The whole resort was not smoked and I felt uncomfortable at the restaurant. We want you to think about smoking depending on place
3. The excursion arrangement was always unstable. It will not be implemented unless people gather. So sudden cancellation etc. It ’s hard to get in touch. We want you to make arrangements and contact customers accurately.

We found our second home in the middle of the Indian Ocean. Nika Island!

The staff, the water villa, the island itself and it's facilities, the food, the ambience. It's all just simply perfect. They kept the essence of the Maldivian way of living, architecture and luxury without being primitive. I mean, we've seen a lot of islands that dropped a 5 star resort on a Maldivian island, but that does NOT make sense. If you want the luxury you have at home, or at a Hilton hotel, stay home. If you want to experience luxury Maldivian style, with a lot of zen and relaxed vibes, come to this place. Time will standstill. You have to take a notch down and slow things down.

There are no gas powered things on this island, all electric. They filter their own water to save plastic consumption. They are very enviorement aware and try to keep everything how it should be. Thank you Nika!

la struttura è molto bella, piena di dettagli di ottimo gusto . Nonostante le ville siano datate, sono mantenute in buono stato. Il personale molto cortese. Cibo buono, la colazione non particolarmente curata. Frutta: quasi solo esclusivamente: melone, anguria, papaia.Praticamente mai mangiato mango fresco. Extra molto costosi: sia gite che vino!

Cucina di buon livello.
Struttura molto datata e non da 5*. Materassi molto scomodi, quasi non ho dormito per tutto il periodo passato in hotel. Prezzi bevande confrontabili con altre strutture simili (5 $ al litro acqua minerale). Escursioni varie ma non a buon mercato.
Barriera corallina, purtroppo, quasi tutta morta. Pesci in quantità non elevata. Soggiornato in water villa. N.B. condizionatore solo dove c'è il letto. Nel resto del boungalow si muore dal caldo. Discesa al mare buona con scaletta. Da tenere presente la marea che, se bassa, ti fa sfiorare le rocce e i coralli ormai morti. Aspetto globale del complesso non soddisfacente: non si ha il colpo d'occhio \"cartolina\".
Dal mio punto di vista sono decisamente meglio le isole polinesiane.

Skønt ophold, der manglede ikke noget i den uge vi var der.. søde personaler og meget opmærksomme værter.. ville helt klar ør anbefale nika Island til folk der planlægger rejse til Maldiverne

Fantastisk afslapning i Water villa..

Fantastisk ophold i lækker Water villa... 6 overnatninger med all inklusive.. lækker mad både morgen, middag og aften.. OB’s at ikke alle drikkevare fra menuen er med i all inclusive, men barcheferne og personalet var flinke til at oplyse om dette inden man bestilte..
kajak og SUP inkluderet i all inclusive, så man kunne sejle rundt om øen som man havde lyst..
