It is truly a very good hotel with 4.5 stars. But there’s still a bit more to do to become 5 stars. It is extremely charming with its own characters. But small details need to work on. Makeup mirror, need 2 room keys, electrical outlets, safety box, air con control, no alarm clock, disposable slippers. They all can be done a bit better

Pros- excellent location, friendly staff, good breakfast with vegetarian options( they made veg noodles for me separately), quiet and safe place in the city, display of Bali culture within the premises.
Totally enjoyed our stay

Cons- a bit outdated rooms, had a very noisy family in the adjacent villa which was a bit annoying.
The receptionist was telling me they had upgraded our room while we paid and booked for this. When pointed out, she apologised.

Lovely peaceful hotel, amazing staff!

Lovely hotel! I had such a great stay at the start of my Bali trip that I stayed at Plataran again for a few days at the end of my trip. It feels like you’re in the countryside surrounded by gorgeous lush green rice fields and nature, with stunning views from the glorious pools, gym, restaurant and rooms, yet it’s walkable to shops and restaurants and right in Ubud city center. This is the perfect place for yoga lovers as it’s 4 min walk to The Yoga Barn! The staff were all super friendly, kind, attentive and helpful and went over and above to prepare healthy vegan and GF foods for me and make sure I had a comfortable stay. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

Could be amazing but just isn’t. Grounds are very pretty and staff are friendly, but it falls down from there. Stained bedding, bathroom sink leaking all over the floor on check in (which clearly is a regular issue given the water damage to the pipe cover), no apology for this until breakfast the morning I left with an offer to extend my stay, bathroom definitely needing a refurb, previous guests e cig cartridges left on the bedside table, gym equipment in a pretty poor state with the bench very unstable so not safe. Tried to use the complementary spa voucher but failed - despite being told I could use it for a facial, on arrival at the spa I was told I couldn’t and it would be chargeable. Laundry service supposed to be back by 7pm but arrived the next morning at 9am.

One of the biggest issues is that the hotel just doesn’t feel like it has a central area to sit, have a drink or just be around other guests. Attempted to get a drink at one of the bars in the grounds and nobody turned up to serve me. The only exception is the Enclave bar which is open to the public by the main road - staff here are great and the environment is really nice.

Too many failures for the price. I would avoid unless it’s below £100 per night.

The hotel is a bit dated - condition of rooms etc is more like a 4 star.
But service is great, pools are nice, overall nice little haven if you want to be in the centre of Ubud. Private path to yoga barn is a huge pro if you’re frequenting the studio.
Overall would stay again.

The location is quite close to the center of Ubud. We enjoyed walking to all shops and restaurants after visiting the Monkey Sanctuary which was less than 10 minutes away by foot. You get the Bali city vibe throughout Ubud, but as soon as I walk into Plataran grounds, I'm surrounded by rice fields and high greens. It felt like a sanctuary of its own. Every single staff was friendly and trying to help before I even realized I needed help. It made our Ubud stay a very pleasant one.

Hidden gem in Ubud

We loved everything about Plataran Ubud. We were grateful for the upgrade to the Suite. The room was huge, with a dining room, living room with a TV, and bedroom with another TV. There were 2 bathrooms, one was smaller (with shower room) in the dining room, and one big one in the bedroom. We didn't expect the serenity of the hotel. It was night and day difference from the hussle and bustle of Ubud, right outside of the hotel compound. The buildings were surrounded by paddy fields, tall trees, and streams. We enjoyed its proximity to restaurants, cafes, convenient stores, a supermarket, and a pharmacy.

The staff was awesome and super friendly. The most important thing for us was that our little enjoyed her time at the kids club. We dropped her off every morning and let her play until lunchtime. Their staff at the kids club was friendly and attentive to her.

Old, shows lots of age, the most poor breakfast in Asia, poor food quality, musty and although they had no available room upgrades, two appeared when we would spend money. It’s an ok hotel with nice people (all Balinese are BTW) but run down and in need of work. Food and beverage are a catastrophe.

Loved the eco-friendly nature though. 5 stars for that.

The perfect location in Ubud

If you love being close to town and the Yoga Barn, this is the place to be. Walk everywhere, there are great restaurants at your doorstep. We have been coming here for years and we keep going back. Once you enter the lobby you walk into a serenity that you don't expect but will come the love. The view from the breakfast area is the best in our opinion. Two pools. A gym. And five minutes from yoga classes at YB. The service is second to none. Smiles everywhere, nothing is too difficult for the staff. We were in a twin room as we like our own mattress and the rooms are spacious, clean and light. Aircons new and individual, the bathrooms a bit worn (time for an upgrade?). We will definitely come back to our home away from home.

Need the better management

When i visited 4 years ago, everything was higher than my standard in terms of hotel cleaness, management, facility.
When i visited 3 days ago with my wife, couldnt help hiding my dissapointment.
Shower booth was very dirty and fixing shower equipment was bas, breakfast was worst part. Took 45min since we ordered Nasi Goreng, and tried all including juices, coffee, bread, all plates we ordered were worse than we expected.
I guess this has been caused the decrease of guests and managements seem to get worse.
Hope they can get back to where they were.

Lush and Inviting. In the city!!

The Plantaran is a great spot for a couple of days in Ubud. A nice enough room, great AC, comfy bed and clean and quiet. The morning breakfast was good (check to see if it’s included.... we had some confusion).

The staff was always helpful but not always well informed. For instance, Twist, an amazing little restaurant for curry is steps away but the staff tried to put us in a taxi telling us it was 15 minutes away.

But the lush green space beyond the front desk area makes up for it. The pools are gorgeous but close at 8pm. Staff let us stay until 9pm so we could see sun down. And the dusk that follows.

Central location, nearby shops and tourist spots such as Ubud Market, Royal Palace, Saraswati Temple etc. Stunning resort that offers lots of free onsite activities such as fruit carving and Balinese dancing. Daily free afternoon tea is lovely way to relax before venturing out in the evening. Breakfast buffet has extensive range of food; chef made us fresh pancakes in accordance with our dietary needs every morning. Staff are very polite, friendly and helpful – exceptional customer service.

All-rounder in central Ubud

This was our 4th time in Ubud. We had considered the Plataran on previous stays, but had always opted for the nearby Alaya. This time we decided to give the Plataran a go with our friends.
We made a couple changes to our reservation before our stay, and the hotel was always easy to deal with.
The location is centrally located in Ubud centre within walking distance to most places.
The hotel is beautiful and has a Balinese charm to it. We made use of both pools and gym, which are surrounding by rice fields. Complimentary yoga is available to guests.
The buffet breakfast is fantastic, with a surprising range of choices. The staff here were especially amazing. One of the girls even showed me how to make congee :)
They also offer complimentary afternoon tea at the hotel. Poolside cocktails and happy hour was excellent.
All the staff were very friendly, and impossible to walk past without them greeting you. Very similar to the Alaya.
The only negative I can give is sprint the bathrooms. They have been designed very poorly. Cramped and small.

I can't say enough good things About Plataran. My wife and I fell in love with the incredibly kind and respectful staff. Every breakfast we felt so cared for. It was our most pleasant experience on our honeymoon and the location was perfect. Room service was always great. We are grateful to have stayed there and whenever we are able to come visit again we look forward to staying again.

Shame on you!

I booked the wrong hotel by mistake (had a couple of browser windows open) and called the hotel immediately after I hit the purchase button. They were not helpful. I also called hotels.com to see if they could help and they weren’t able to get in touch with a manager. They along with myself followed up the following morning in hopes of working something out and they wouldn’t honor the mistake. Poor business practice in my opinion. I didn’t no show and called literally seconds after I booked it. Shame on you! I am disputing payment on my cc.

The grounds of the hotel are deceivingly beautiful. From the street it doesn’t look like much. So gorgeous! Both pools beautiful and amazing view for breakfast. The staff are very attentive! Great service. Food in both restaurants was a bit disappointing though. Pretty basic, not the best quality and not that many choices. Also was very disappointed with the cheap polyester sheets on the beds. The best part of a hotel stay is always a comfy bed with super crisp sheets. The beds creaked, the sheets were worn and cheap material.

Tranquil calm in the midst of bustling Ubud

My partner and I love the Plataran Ubud Hotel & Spa! What a wonderful place. Exceptional service, with beautiful hotel and grounds, that you would never imagine was there from the street. It’s like magic when you walk through the restaurant/lobby and out to the back of the property, where the hotel is – it feels a little bit like you're Harry Potter whizzing through time and space.

We were impressed by the outstanding service, great hotel and grounds, and wonderful rooms. On our arrival we were very kindly upgraded to a suite. We absolutely loved it – gorgeous, with a living room, bedroom, two bathrooms (one of which bigger than our bedroom at home!!), and a lovely balcony overlooking the jungle and the hotel pool. Very picturesque. In terms of our suite, the bathroom was particularly exceptional, with a massive deep soaking tub that my 6’3” partner could happily lay down in!

The only thing we found slightly disappointing was the food (we had afternoon tea, and breakfast, both included in room cost). The breakfast, while there was a lot of choice, wasn’t up to the standard that we were used to on our trip to Bali. Both the Western and Balinesian/Indonesian food was just OK.

We would absolutely stay again – the service was friendly and wonderful, the standard of cleanliness was very high, the grounds are fantastic, and we absolutely adore the location. Thank you again to Plataran and all the staff there for a great stay.

Wow, what an amazing place! We upgraded our room to one of the suites with views of the jungle for only pennies, and it was sooo worth it. Waking up to the sunrise over the palm trees and jungle noises was just spectacular. The staff was the friendliest and so accomodating, and they helped us do some day trips with their in-house driver Oka, who was a star. We barely left the resort to explore the main street because the hotel area was just unreal. It is the best hotel experience I've had to date!

My stay at the Plataran was truly amazing. From the moment I arrived... staff were attentive, accessible, and courteous. My room was quiet and clean. I enjoyed the turn down service and sweet treat left on my nightstand every night. The resort has daily activities and I particularly enjoyed morning yoga. The facilities were extremely clean and well maintained. The spa service was hands down the best I’ve ever experienced. The location was perfect. Very close to many shops and restaurants. A complimentary shuttle is available to take hotel guests to the market which I enjoyed. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I hope to return in the near future.

The overall stay was ok. We weren't there long enough to enjoy all the facilities. Bathroom/tub and curtains didn't feel too clean. When raining, water would blow into the building corridors making floors wet and slippery and bringing wetness into the bedrooms. However rooms were nice and bright , with good views.

The entire staff at the Plataran was amazing! We felt like special guests in someone’s beautiful home. We looked forward to each morning so that we could enjoy the delicious breakfast. I was fortunate enough to spend my birthday here and on the morning of my special day the staff presented me with a beautiful cake and seranded me with a birthday song. They truly understand good customer service!

This hotel is centrally located with rooms overlooking rice paddies so you feel the busyness of Ubud is far away.
We had a suite which is enormous and included a spacious living area and second bathroom as well as a huge bedroom and ensuite and an outdoor deck with 2 daybeds overlooking one of the pools.
Breakfast was included and offered a wide variety of choices from many cultural backgrounds as well as freshly cooked options made to order.

My partner and I are digital nomads and booked Plataran because it - unlike most places in Ubud - looked like a comfortable business hotel, plus it was near Yoga Barn. We were pretty disappointed - the bathroom smelled really bad throughout our stay and had lots of tiny ants. The internet was also intermittent, including when we had work calls. However, staff are lovely, the bed was comfortable, and the grounds are lovely. If it had been a lot cheaper, we would have been totally fine with the room issues, but for the price, it didn't meet our expectations.

Ibu Shanti and Widi provided superior services and guidance for the area. The Hotel is clean and impeccable, spacious room with excellent view. Meals were delicious and always fresh. 5 star service with wonderful smile from all. Thank you to Mario with his safe driving. I will certainly return for another wonderful week in paradise.

Great Staff , Good Breakfast !

As earlier reviews mentioned, the rooms are situated right inside away from the traffic noise. It is convenient with many cafes (try Mamma Mia for great and reasonably priced pizza, just 2 mins walk).
The Teras cafe has activities like a live band on Thurs night, Salsa on Fri night except it is situated facing the noisy road. Not relaxing to hang around.
Jln Hanuman Road is real busy with narrow walk ways that are not maintained. Lots of cracks with gaps - one has to be real careful. Quite surprised that authorities are not doing any repairs or widening the road with all the tourist money flowing in.
Ubud was a much better area 15 years ago with lots of greenery and padi fields . Now there is too much traffic leading to long jams, poor road conditions, many buildings and less greenery.

Excellent hotel in the jungle

We went there because Expedia wrote hotel is for adults only. When we went there we were so disappointed to see a lot of children running and playing in so romantic places for couples. This is the fist time we were disappointed by Expedia. But still was an excellent hotel with the compensation made by the management of the Hotel we had great 3 days. When I will make any arrangements with Expedia again, I will think twice and I will try to make my arrangements directly with Hotels.

Wonderful stay!

From the moment we arrived until we departed, Plataran Ubud Hotel and Spa was a wonderful oasis tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast (and view!) was lovely, and the spa was amazing. We will be back!

The place to be

During my travel across Bali this hotel made the best impression on me. The very attentive team welcomes you on your first step and stays supportive and friendly throughout your stay at the Plataran.
Spectacular view from the “View” restaurant makes your breakfast even more enjoyable. The great selection of food will satisfy even the most picky person.
All the facilities are very good. So far, the best gym I used in Bali.
Hotel offers also many activities such as yoga, morning walk and many more. Well, top class! Don’t look any further, just stay at Plataran, you will love it.

Magical experience in a secret garden

My time at Plataran Hotel was quite simply exceptional! Well-situated and staffed with the most friendly, most knowledgeable, most caring people that I have ever encountered in my many travels to Ubud. The amenities were well cared for and the breakfast was perfect! I will be back... As a sole female traveler, I have never felt more safe or not looked after. Thank you Plataran!
