Beautiful hotel with best riverfront view. Room is very clean, and overlooks the river and a temple and stupa across the river. Good restaurant on site. Rooms are very sound proof and quiet. Well located close to all of the sites in Ayutthaya. Upon check in you are offered a tray with three or four types of pillow samples to choose from for your stay. Also, two other trays to choose the scent of your hand soap and bar soap. The hotel helped up contract a good, english speaking guide and taxi to help expedite our tour of the city, who we used for two days. Highly recommend this lovely boutique hotel.

The ground floor room with a river view was nice. The terrace furniture was a bit dirty and many ants so didn’t sit outside much. The breakfast was incredible and tables were right beside the river with a great view of the temple opposite. Staff were all very polite and helpful. Definitely one of the nicest hotels in the area,

Great staff, especially Fon. Perfect location on the river and some of the best Thai food I've ever had (the green papaya salad couldn't have been more fresh!).
I wouldn't suggest the pool room.... It feels clostrophobic, no view of anything.

The river view in my room was fantastic. Love the reading corner within the room, I could just sit there for hours watching the boats sail past. Service staff were very friendly. Although the hotel doesn't have concierge service, the lobby staff helped to arrange for a guide and driver for me. However, they told me there's turn down service, but it only happened for one night (I stayed for three). While it is a minor issue for me, such thing shouldn't happen for the price they are charging.

The location is great, tuk tuk to the door to take us around town, booked a evening boat tour that picked us up on the river on the river side of the hotel, the breakfast that is provided is a 20star breakfast. Amazing.

Apparently this is one of the 'best' hotels in Ayutthaya so you have to take the good with the inconvenient. Designed as a 'boutique' hotel - emphasis seems to be on design over guest experience. The main passage is dramatic and impressive - leading to lots of halls with stairs to rooms on the upper levels. Some of the best upper rooms have very steep, very high spiral staircases - so be aware if you have any limitations. We had a terrace room on the main lever, but there were hard to see places where there with 'steps down' without visual clues - and it would be easy to fall. Rooms had everything you needed - but huge tub/shower area and tiny 'water closet' without a lock or ability to keep the door shut. Most people come for one or two nights, so not a deal-breaker, but very expensive compared to nearby hotels that have similar features/reviews.
We had lunch when we arrived and it was expensive and not impressive - to the point that we decided to go elsewhere for dinner.
However, the included breakfast is a stand-out with great service, presentation and quality overlooking the river and temples on the opposite side.
Reception area is minimal and surprisingly unimpressive for a hotel of this level. The attached 'gallery' with seating had a pervasive odor of sewage which they tried to cover with incense - when asked, the staff said 'it was the drain' and seemed unconcerned.
If you want to stay where VIPs go - this is the place, but expensive compared to other options.

Beautiful hotel on the river

Gorgeous hotel on the river of Ayutthaya. My wife and I had a lovely stay here. The hotel restaurant is top notch, with a wide variety of dishes. The food was very high quality and well presented. Rooms are very modern and comfortable. The only problem I observed during my was that the pool was not very well maintained and, although visually stunning, a bit small. Overall, would certainly recommend and would love to stay again.

The view from the Sala Hotel is incredible. Both day and night you see beautiful old ruins with a flowing river. The Dino g area sits directly opposite to the temples so you have fantastic views while enjoying their delicious cuisine.

We reserved the pool suite (vs. having the river view) for our two nights and are glad we did. We enjoyed the ability to lounge and swim outdoors in privacy. The suite's interior is a good size and has a large round above-ground tub. Besides our breakfasts, we also had our dinners at the Sala Ayutthaya restaurant (thumbs up). We do recommend checking out the roof deck for outdoor or indoor evening drinks. The enclosed area on the roof has a bar and seating ... and is air conditioned with a glass wall facing the temples across the river. Makes for a very nice evening view.

hotel is presumptuous, lots of artsy stuff but missing functionality. Shower was the worst ever, very little water pressure and drastic fluctuations between hot and cold. Room has a lounge bench but no chairs or small table. Pool was very very small and again no comfortable place to sit and read after a day of walking. Breakfast was very good, staff excellent and professionally friendly. Definitely not wheelchair friendly or for anyone with mobility issues.

This hotel has an amazing view on the temple across the river. I could not get a room with a view because the hotel was full but the view from the restaurant is fantastic. Service was excellent. Staff extremely considerate and helping for all our needs. Water pressure in the room is a bit low particularly for hot water. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

A bad surprise upon check in

Nice location, modern and minimalist decoration. We however had a bad surprised while checking: a room with twin beds was specifically booked and confirmed, no message was sent to inform of its unavailability, upon checking we were informed that the hotel was fully booked and there was only one big bed, which was not satisfactory at all, finally a sofa was turned into a single bed.
The staff English was rather poor. I stayed in the hotel before but I find that it is becoming rather overpriced for what it offers.

This hotel is nice for photography for sure. The room, the red wall and the pool, are as stunning as on the photos. However the room really needed more dusting on the white wall.
I was attracted to the huge window that overlooked the river. But I was given a room just next to the restaurant and on ground floor. I can’t open my window becoz I would definitely be seen by the dining guests. This is a very low point. Besides, the pool location was really too open, I mean to the public. The dining guests from outside could easily peek into the pool. I deserved more privacy.

The hotel seems like a hidden gem behind a wall that opens to an art gallery. The rooms are well done with personal and local touches. The rooms and restaurant face the river and the Temples providing amazing views and photo opportunities. Staff were so helpful and lovely. I plan to come back again and recommend this property.

The property and staff at this hotel are top-notch. We have two children with allergies and they worked hard to accommodate these issues. They were also able to help us with local transportation. The rooms are lovely however, they lack any seating other than a lounge bed. If you want/need a traditional chair they are not available in the rooms. I would recommend this be changed.

A very worn down and incredibly dirty hotel

I stayed at the POOL SUITE room for 3 days. This place used to be a quality hotel. It is now extremely worn down to the standard of a 2stars hotel. it is way over-priced for what it is now.Sorry to see they not able to maintain this property well. Due to the fact that the furnishing are mostly in white colour, the stains and dirt are easily discernible.The room amenities are lack of quality.I will never recommend this hotel to any of my friends.

I stayed 2 nights and 3 days August 2018. Tried to eat dinner at the restaurant first night but sat 30 minutes for drink order and waited and waited and never got waited on to order food so I left. It turned out to be lucky for me because I went across the street from the hotel to the Mamao Bar and had a wonderful time! The food and drinks at the Mamao Bar were excellent with great service and the price was 80% cheaper than if I had eaten at the Sala. I ate and drank at the Mamao Bar both nights I was at the hotel. The restaurant service was my only complaint about the Sala, everything else was wonderful and I will stay there again.

Hotel located by the Chao Phraya River where my room have a stunning view of the Wat Phutthaisawan. It was very beautiful and I can enjoy this gorgeous view every time when I look out even in night time as it have lights. The room are very comfortable and the staff are nice. Only it is quite lack of parking space here.

The Sala Ayutthaya is a very cool place right on the river. The view of the Wat across the river during dinner is awesome. The hotel architecture is really interesting and modern, and the rooms are really big. Everyone we were with loved the huge round tubs in the rooms.

This intimate boutique hotel is so thoughtfully designed, the moment you arrive you realise you’re about to experience something unique and special. From the beautiful brickwork echoing the temples to the concrete, timber and linen interiors and furnishings. Comfortable beds, beautiful bathrooms. The hotel is very cool and contemporary, yet unpretentious.The location is very peaceful - overlooking the river and Wat Phuttaisawan.Evening more stunning when lit up at night. Gorgeous pool and restaurant also. A special mention to Ben who was very helpful with our dietary requirements.

I travel quite a lot and I must say it’s one of my favourite experiences.

Beautiful Riverside Hotel

I arrived in the evening and when the taxi pulled up to bare brick wall with cars parked in front I thought it couldn't be the right Hotel. However within seconds of arrival a Security person had opening the door and was taking care of my luggage. He ushered me past a rusted door to discover a beautiful peaceful designer Hotel within. I had booked a Deluxe Riverview Terrace Room for 3 nights. The room was very spacious with quality furnishings and amenities. Unfortunately due to the high water level the Terrace furniture was covered for protection, but I could still open the door and step out to enjoy the view and river breezes. The a la carte breakfasts were delicious and the Restaurant meals I had were too. Even if you don't book a river view room the view from the Restaurant is superb. Staff were uniformly friendly, efficient and helpful. It was overall a wonderful experience.

Elegant and Sublime but...

The wow factor of this charming hotel is over the top spectacular. The architecture and design is incomparable to any boutique hotel I’ve stayed in...unfortunately with constant international travelers there’s bound to be someone who brings in a nasty pest. My room had bed bugs. this is surprising the hotel did not catch it, because with concrete floors, and white linens it’s easily something that can be directed. When I lifted other pieces of furniture I found the exoskeletons of other dead bed bugs. That should ha e been spotted before I checked in. The hotel made no apology, but did immediately change all my bedding and cleaned everything up. I switched rooms the following day and that room was perfect. I am a little surprised nobody contacted me from the management team to at least apologize. Apart from that, the hotel is extraordinary. Make sure you get a room with a view...just check the mattress first.

A lot of bugs which is understandable given the location but there were many also in the air-conditioned spaces as well. That is my only complaint really. Had a terrific time staying in the pool suite and the views at night over the river were nothing short of spectacular. Good restaurant and cocktails.

Wow!! The room we had was fantastic. This is a great little boutique hotel right on the river and if you are lucky like we were you can have a beautiful view. The restaurant was delicious and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

We love the overall hotel architecture and design which are unique and impressive, given the small space. The checkin time is 4PM and checkout time at noon, making it inconvenient to plan a day. The reception wasn't friendly nor helpful to accommodate our request for earlier checkin time, even when we are travelling with an infant. We had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel and felt they are pricey and pretty average, nevertheless we were enjoying the magnificent view. With many tourists visiting the restaurant, the guest privacy is compromised. Parking was limited and poorly managed. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone that expect a decent service from the hotel.

the room was really good because it commanded a nice view from the room. despite the really hot temperature which is hotter than the hell, the room was air-conditioned very well and maintained carefully. but there are some weak points. the first one is the bad location. it's quite far from the both bus station and the railway station, that's why i'll rent a car if i visit ayutthaya next time. and the last one is the food. i found some tiny bugs in food. but there is no doubt i'll stay in this hotel again if i visit ayutthaya again.

we had a lovely stay the hotel was comfortable and clean the bathroom needed some maintenance where water had damaged the woodwork above the bath and in the corner of the shower but otherwise excellent Suggestion to provide bicycles for guest's use as although lovely views across river, hotel is a reasonable distance from the sights of the city along streets with lots of trip hazards restaurant had lovely meals but was quite expensive by Thai standards so we couldn't eat there every night Marble around pool very slippery when wet

Not worth the money and the location is picturesque but far from most things.

Great Boutique Hotel

We stayed one night in the Sala Ayutthaya Hotel and we loved it . The Hotel rooms are like a mini suites and very nice although with a minimalist style. One of the greatest point of the hotel is the fantastic view on the Hotel on the other side of the river. Lovely Hotel for a couple or a family and positioned very near the historical park.

An enjoyable stay. The view across the river from the hotel is special, particularly at night.

We had room 2 and our friends room 10, both of which I can recommend. However the rooms are accessed by stairs as there are no lifts which may not suit all travellers. These two rooms were accessed by different staircases.

Room 10 could do with some chairs in the room - there were only chairs on the outdoor terrace.

We enjoyed eating dinner in the hotel restaurant on both nights and we also enjoyed the breakfast which included choices such as 'full English' and eggs benedict.Latte was excellent but we struggled to get cold milk to drink with my husband's tea.

The pool is very small so if swimming is important to you this will not be the hotel for you.

A lovely hotel, right on the river with a lovely view of one of the temples. We could walk to many of the sights,although the hotel does have a few bikes that could be borrowed.Our room had an amazing bathroom and felt very luxurious. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant staff were very friendly but not always attentive when it came to ordering more drinks or dessert. That said the food was delicious with a great choice,so much so we eat in the hotel both nights of our stay.

We wanted to see the temples and temple ruins in this city. This hotel was even better than the photos and reviews!!! Fell in love all over again in Ayutthaya

The outside of Sala Ayutthaya does not have curb appeal however the inside is breathtaking with absolutely beautiful views of Wat Phutthaisawan from the Sala eatery and bar. All the staff treat you respectfully from the minute you step into the hotel. Food and beverages are delicious, the included breakfast fills you for most of the day. We stayed in the pool suite, a private oasis in the midst of old world ruins and new world chaos. You can feel yourself relaxing as you step into the suite. During our stay we also opted to have a couples Thai massage, great for getting out any tension you might have development from a long flight or long walks through ruins and temples.

Amazing getaway with magnificent view

Was amazing getaway with magnificent view!
I can tell it must be the best hotel in Ayutthya, the city is full of history and the hotel is full of modernity which harmonizes perfectly with the hertiage and history of the city.
The pool is a bit small but we didn't have enough time to explore this beautiful city, so who cares about the pool?!!
Would love to go back to this hotel, definitely.

Great hotel to experience Ayutthaya

Sala Ayutthaya was a great experience. We stayed for one night on a Sunday. Arrived a little earlier and had to wait until the room was ready. In the meantime we had lunch with an excellent view of the river and the Wat in front of the hotel. Hotel staff was attentive and fulfilled all our requests. Room was excellent, with a balnocy towards the river. Our daughter had fun in the large bathtub and could sleep in the separate area. She also had fun in the pool. At night, the view of the temple and the river was also excellent. Overall, a very relaxing experience and to visit the Ayutthaya area. Would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Location is everything

We booked a room with river view for one night stay. The high side of the Sala is it's wonderful location and a Thai contemporary design that make our stay such a restful and comfy weekend. Love the daybed and the time we spent watching a painting-like view at the window.

Food is o.k. with extra price tag from the sight of the river and temple. Will suggest that guests should take their time in sightseeing, Sala's check-in time is at 4 p.m. and they have limited parking space.

Great design hotel in a small town

Rooms are superb facing the temple. Looks gorgeous both day and night. However, wifi is rather slow, and the pool is a little small.

Probably the best hotel in Ayutthaya - very modern and architecturally cool. Pool is tiny so if the hotel isn't busy it's fine. Massages are decent value for money. Popular with people coming to the hotel to eat and drink in the hotel restaurant and tend to wander around the more private pool area for photos, which as a guest can get a little annoying if you're lying out in your speedos. Some of the restaurant staff came off as a bit surly.

Nice Hotel, Less Privacy

Nice decorating hotel with a stunning view of the temple from the restaurant. But as a guest who stay at the property, it seems less privacy for the guest since the outside guest also welcome to walk around in the the property area for photo taking.

Modern hotel near the Ayutthaya Historical Park

We made a two-day trip to visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park and stayed over-night at the Sala Ayutthaya.

On arrival, we enjoyed a light lunch in the riverside restaurant inspecting the historic wat and the modern temple on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya that was busy with traffic.

We spent the afternoon visiting the museum and principal temples before adjourning to the hotel for a long bath and an excellent supper. On the second day, we ate a leisurely breakfast and then returned to Bangkok.

The rooms are ideal for relaxing and each has a deep tub in which to soak after sightseeing. The restaurant has a varied menu, mostly Thai, and all the dishes we ordered were excellent.

In summary, the hotel was a perfect match with the purpose of our trip.

Modern Design in an Ancient City

We were excited to find the newly opened Sala Ayutthaya. The hotel design is lovely and the rooms very comfortable. A lot of care went into every detail of the hotel design and amenities. The one thing they forgot was the actual customer experience. The staff were poorly trained. This is not their fault - they definitely wanted to help and accommodate their guests. They simply were not sure of exactly how to do this. Granted, the hotel had only been open for 3 months when we stayed, but it seemed that a bunch of 18 year olds with no hospitality experience had been turned loose to operate a small boutique hotel where personal touches are expected. Many spoke very poor English which caused communication problems not just for us (Americans), but for Japanese and Chinese travelers as well. The amenities book in our room listed several available tours of the city, but when we inquired at the front desk we were told that these did not yet exist. The staff masseuse stopped mid-massage to take a personal phone call. All of these issues are easily remedied, and I hope that the Sala group has done so by now. We did have a wonderful time there, and some of the staff even said they would miss us because we seemed to be having so much fun. I would recommend this hotel as none of the issues I mentioned were major - just out of place in such a beautiful hotel.
