Wonderful hotel with friendly staff

The property is very clean and the staff were friendly.
The food needs a lot of revamp especially room service. This property is a good [lace to stay for a business trip. Bathrooms are clean and modern. My room was on the side of the road and it was noisy would prefer a quiet room in the future.

Great staff & horrible nightclub neighbor

The staff has been helpful and accommodating.
The only disappointment is that a horrifically loud DJ & nightclub next door rob you of an expected peaceful sleep on Friday and Saturday night. In fact, I'm not sure if the immediate next door Protea Marriott isn't the source of the offensive noise. Don't stay here on a weekend.

Comfortable, clean stay

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Shower is luxurious compared to what we'd been used to in Africa, much appreciated. The service in the restaurant wasn't the best, waiting 1.5 hours for food with 4 hungry kids wasn't good, not sure if that was a kitchen problem or server problem.

Dont use Protea hotel in Lusaka.

Very poor customer relations. Very bad wifi and not able to sort it out leaving me with no connectivity for half my stay. Once I got moved to another room I finally had wifi. Check out was a nightmare with very unhelpful staff member also not being able to assist me with my Marriot rewards.

Comfortable hotel but service needs a boost

Check-in was very slow. Attendant gave me the wrong room number, so I had entered a room where someone was already residing in - awkward. The attendant also did not charge for the shuttle service upon payment of the room as requested, and had to then pay next morning, causing a delay. Other than that the quality of the rooms are great.

My stay was overall okay. For being a Radisson Blu, I thought the service was lacking. One night I tried to call for room service; I tried to call 5 times over the course of 10 minutes, both the OneTouch button and the general front desk, and no one picked up. Checking out, as well, was a dreadful process. It took 30 minutes to pay my bill. Hotel is comfortable, food was great, but the service - ouf.

Convenient hotel

I was most impressed and grateful for the honesty of the staff. I had not paid my taxi due to lack of cash when I arrived at 2.30am and the taxi unfortunately had not come back when I checked out. I left money in an envelope at the front desk asking them to hand it over to the taxi driver whose details I did not have. They gave it to him. I am so grateful!

Best Sleep In Lusaka

I probably had the best night's rest here, the bed was ridiculously comfortable.
Although the room was a very nice size, as was the bathroom and walk in shower, the bathroom smelled and looked a tad moldy, so that was a bit of a turn off.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was wonderful and the staff was pleasant, though i wished that they had more knowledge of the surrounding areas/things to do. When asked, they really drew a blank. The rooftop pool looks like a kiddie pool though, which was a little disappointing.

Kinda ok, but...

The hotel looks nice. It's relatively new and well equipped. I couldn't get rid of the feeling that it is all somehow \"unfinished\": when there's a nice facade, but what's behind is rather disappointing.

The staff at the reception was awful. I came after the long travel and the guy at the reception spent good 15 minutes explaining some of his \"brothers\" (just a guy who came looking for someone, not a guest of the hotel) how to find someone in the other Protea hotel. The second guy who came to support the first one after sitting and watching TV for 15 minutes that I was waiting, didn't even say \"hello\" to me.

So, okay, the check in was awful thanks to the reception staff.

Good addition to the original Protea Arcades but decor was without the heart. The staff were great. Very comfy beds. Too many mosquitoes in the room put us off and no mosquito net to feel safe under.

Great location, right by the mall & walking distance to east park mall as well. Only 30 minutes from the airport. 10 minutes away from CBD. Very modern hotel with comfy beds.

The staff are very nice, the hotel is in a very good location, I have stayed here many times and I was one of the first customers when it opened.
Say high to Timo behind the bar, you will recocnise him from his laugh !!

Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower hotel review

The hotel generates it's own power and purifies it's own water supply. Everything works and the food has progressed to a high standard. The WiFi has also become quite usable for email and general browsing. The close proximity to the shopping complex makes a big difference, especially if you are there over a weekend.

Good business hotel. Great breakfast and nice roofdeck bar. Excellent wifi for Zambia, as well. Unfortunately, no fitness center and a tiny (non-functional) pool make this not a great option for longer business trips.

New Hotel Building, Old Style Management

In general, this hotel needs a more responsible management. Here is why:
* Recycled toilet papers smell very bad even from distance. Cheap Suppliers
* Despite of Room cleaning request, Room was not done after 5 hours.
* From ordering a towel till I received them in room, 1.5 hours.
* Open Butter bowl at breakfast is being refilled after each use (terrible)
* Tea/Coffee not on self-serve, so you have to wait a long time to get it.
* Shower's floor drainage does not work properly, so waste water is all over.
* Guest Parking is open to Roof Bar customer so guests should park outside.
* And many more.....

Good, clean and new constructed hotel, pleasant stay. Very close to 3 good shopping malls and dining areas. suitable for business travelers.
the only inconvenience i could see is the absence of a GYM and a very small swimming pool (not suitable for summing) as a decoration on the top floor.

Great location. I've stayed here once before and several times in the older location next door. This time the service in the breakfast area and the bar has slipped. It seems to be the direct help is not the caliber they used to be, but that said it's a great location right at Arcades.

I had a good stay.The club room i stayed was good,clean and comfortable.My question to the hotel however would be,what is the difference between the club room and the normal rooms?
I stayed on the 5th floor my first time and this time i stayed on the 7th club floor and the rooms were exactly the same....

Great room. Very clean, very comfortable.

Poor amenities though: no gym and slow internet compared. Both issues better across street at the Radisson Blue.

Breakfast could definitely be better with better fruit, better bread, and better meat. Sausages are very salty and very cheap, for example, and bacon did not look good.

Comfortable room in an excellent location

...but the service leaves something to be desired for a hotel in this price range (e.g., errors in booking both the room and airport shuttle, multiple staff sent to verify that you are actually a guest when you go for breakfast, people clearing plates away while you are still eating from them). If management can fix these things, this has the potential to be the best place to stay in Lusaka.

Room was good, service was great from staff on the counter, only complaint had supper one night at hotel and was shocking. Food and beverage manager did remove it from my bill without an issue and was sincere in apology. Did not expect this from a Protea Hotel! Breakfast was good!

air-condition does not work on back up for long

stay was good, i dont how come hotel like protea dont have air-condition backs, i mean when their is no power their is no AC and for how long that also you dont know, charging like a 4 star but this kind of lapse is what you expect from a road side hotel. But Manager on Duty was kind enough to cancel my booking for next day and i shifted to Radission. REST was ok.

Great Hotel for a great price

The Protea always does a nice job of hosting me on my stays in Lusaka. I've stayed at the others, like the Stay Easy and the Raddison, however they are not as good of an overall value. One thing that I think it strange, the Protea Towers, where I stay now, is lower cost and a better property than the Protea Lusaka, which is right next door. If you're not sure which to choose, stay in the Towers, much nicer and curiously less expensive. When you get there, immediately check out the 9th floor bar and pool area. I say that because it gives you alternatives for relaxing and even working poolside in a nice environment. The restaurant is up there too which is also a nice place to unwind or entertain friends and guests.

The restaurant here is a top notch steakhouse. Don't order salad as they have a free salad buffet that comes with your meal! Nice indoor pool as well. Only sad there is no gym, but the modern amenities and lovely service more than compensate. Good, new rooms -- deal for the price.

Comfort in Lusaka

This is the newer of two Protea hotels at the Arcades Shopping Centre. Hotel runs a minibus transfer service to the airport which undercuts taxi rates. Helpful and efficient desk staff. Good, reasonably priced food served throughout the day. Room clean and comfortable and very spacious; most have king size beds and the showers are very large. All rooms have fridge/kettle/safe as well as wifi and a desk - this is a business class hotel of the type now found in most African capital cities. Clean, quiet, comfortable and recommended.
