Room was clean and hotel in an excellent location. Close to shopping, restaurants, and sightseeing. The room itself was a little dated, but well-equipped with a sitting area and kitchen. Repairs and upgrades are underway - we heard construction during our stay but nothing too disruptive. Housekeeping came every other day instead daily (this may be because I'd booked a Studio instead of a regular room). One night we did not have hot water, but it was quickly resolved once reported to the Front Desk. Overall the room suited our needs well. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as there are many cafes nearby.

This property could be fantastic with a bit of work/repairs. I can live with a few tiles missing in the shower and bathroom but what cause my low review was the lack of air conditioning. They turn it off in the cooler months for the whole building! Was not informed of this on check in and after waking in a seat at 1am went to the desk and they told me to open the window...around 2am the garbage trucks arrived, so verry little sleep. It was 26C in the room!

Very disappointing.

I had an personal emergency and was not able to make it to the hotel. I informed them in the morning but they would not give any reimbursement. Extremely rigid policy, especially in a low season. It's not like they needed the room. Very disappointing.

The pillows in the rooms were very thin. Two pillows will make your night averagely satisfied. I looked into wardrobes for more pillows but there are none. So i am given two thin pillows to sleep.

Hotel well located in the city center. Very clean sheets and towels. Large room, but old and dark. There was something black in the corners of the shower floor, possibly mold, disgusting anyway. Minibar empty, and not working until the second day, after reporting twice. No amenities. Very basic breakfast, without variety. No fresh juice or fruits. I had communication with the 6 hotels that I would visit during my vacation in different cities. This was the only one that never responded. They don't give you a map and minimal guidance at check in. Some of the gentlemen at reception are quite unfriendly, they seem to hate their jobs or the guests.

The window was broken and the last night when it was super windy, the window kept opening in the middle of the night and kept us up. Had a terrible night sleep. The bathroom is also outdated with broken toilet seat. The shower pressure was strong, which was nice.

Very clean comfortable rooms with excellent in-room amenities. The hotel staff are quite friendly and the breakfast buffet is very inpressive. It's location near the Teatro Massimo in the old section of the City also makes it very easy to navigate the city.

The location is very convenient right in the new centre with all the shops and restaurants but just a stone throw from the historic part of the city with all the main attractions . The building is accessed through a pedestrian street which is quiet with a couple of cafes and non busy bars. We booked a superior room and it was rather spacious and lovely. I inspected one of their standard double rooms too and it looked very basic. The staff was kind and helpful. The main down side of this hotel is the reception. The decoration is very poor and not nice at all. I was a bit worried when I walked into it but then my room. I would recommend to improve the communal areas as a priority to improve the client’s experience.

Location very central, just steps from the main pedestrian artery and a few minutes from piazza Verdi, yet quiet. The room was in good shape, perhaps modernised not that long ago, and clean.
Breakfast was ok, with a few sweet options and cold cuts so more selection than in many places in Italy.
Staff helpful.
Overall a good central option in Palermo if you can get a good price.

This hotel was excellent value. The breakfast was wonderful! Situated right in the center of the old town it was perfect for restaurants and sightseeing. Driving is another story...nightmare traffic and hard to find with direction apps. Definitely recommend the on-site parking. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers and would stay there again.

Small, cramped, smelly room with absurdly tiny bathroom on first night. Threadbare towels. Unhelpful desk staff couldn’t care less. Paid for room upgrade for next two nights and was like a different hotel: large, clean, newly renovated room on high floor with balcony. Even the towels were better. Same sad and dismal breakfast in dreary dining room. Won’t go back.

Great location, facilities could do with updating.

The hotel is located centrally and is reasonably quiet seeing how close it is to everything. I had a 'studio' room which included a gas hob, fridge, crockery and cutlery, however surprisingly lacked wine glasses and a bottle opener. The room was spacious with a small balcony overlooking the street and was located next to the main hotel where the bar (not ever seen to be open) and breakfast area was.

Over the six days I stayed I had minimal interaction with the staff, but when I did they were always helpful and spoke good English.

What a place ........ think 2* Russia in the 1970

This “hotel” was the most basic place I have ever had the misfortune to stay. The reception staff were abrupt and rude. As a guest I felt intimidated and looked down upon. The room ....,,,well think dark, dingy, clostriphobic, tatty, if you tried to turn on the air conditioning it sounded like a jumbo jet. The hotel offer free WiFi .... NO, it does not work. The shower (haha) it’s a lose hose that does not fit properly onto its housing and the shower rose
Is missing. I stayed 4 nights (one of the nights cost £250 for the most basic of accommodation ) I could go on and on, On leaving I thought I might be asked how I enjoyed my stay - NO of course not, just pay the 9 Euro tax - get stuffed piss off. Terrible place don’t stay there.

Overall Nice, clean, comfortable and easily accessible hotel, the reception staff where extremely helpful and I did ask a lot of questions! It was a quiet time of year that I stayed, but even so the hotel just lacked a little 'life', it was very quiet and a tad boring.
Decent breakfast, plenty of variety, usual breakfast room in 'cellar' rooms, no nice view, but the waiting staff made up for the lack of that.
I would stay again, considering the location, cleanliness and lovely staff.

Ignored at check in, no WiFi in room and despite 2 requests to fix problem no action taken, rude staff (especially older balding guy - the manager???), forgot room clean on second day, dirty floor in room.. I could go on.. They only care about guests 60+ who are in the new wing, we were sent to what looked like the maids quarters - don't break your neck on the broken steps on each floor.. The only poor hotel experience we had on Italy and we stayed in 7 others!!

I was incapacitated with an injured leg. the staff could not have been more helpful getting me a doctor, going to pharmacy to get me drugs. My breakfast was delivered and generally they did a superb job. I was most impressed.

Check the air condition is working before you book

We booked this hotel because it has air conditioning and was close to where our family live. When we arrived it was 30 degrees outside and we were looking forward to getting to our cool room. Unfortunately when we got to the room we found it was like an oven. On returning to reception we were told the air condition was broken and they were waiting for a part. We had booked for a week and when asked when the air conditioning would be repaired we were told maybe tomorrow. After several nights trying to sleep we purchased two fans as the hotel said they had no fans. My daughter in law who is a Sicilian came to the hotel and spoke with them about the situation that we couldn't put up with the heat in the room. They agreed with her but still did nothing. In the end we went out and purchased two fans in order to get some sleep. How long does it take to get a spare part if that was the problem. Obviously longer than a week! Or was the air conditioning not being put on because it was not yet their summer season. After all this is Sicily where they don't do today what they can do tomorrow!!!

I was surprised when I arrived at this hotel to see that it was not one iota like the photographs I saw online of the rooms. I was very disappointed, it was reminiscent of a doss-house, absolutely no frills attached, no breakfast, no bar, no coffee or tea-making facilities. The carpet was glued right onto the concrete floor and the interior of the room was shabby and dated. The mattress sagged into a hole collectively created by the former inhabitants and the towels and sheets were threadbare. The shower attachment over the bathtub was broken so I would call it a hand-held shower, and the shower-curtain was grimy. The free internet service dropped frequently; the front desk clerk, who spoke excellent English was about as warm and friendly as a hungry bear--I asked for a quiet room and I was given one overlooking the noisy street where the banging and the music never stopped. Never again!

Great location to see the sights of Palermo if travelling on public transport. Hotel staff speak good English and are very helpful. Some rooms need updating but the hotel offers superb value and is in a quiet street which is hard to find in Palermo. Have stayed here several times before and will return again this year. Incredibly helpful

Sometimes you learn more about a hotel when things go wrong. I had a serious problem when my hire car broke down in their underground car park, blocking in half a dozen other drivers. The reception staff were fantastic, helping push it into a spare space and ringing the car hire firm for me. They could not have been more helpful or understanding and remained calm even when the recovery operation looked doomed to disaster. Yes, the building is old and the rooms are basic, but ultimately hotels are a people business and the people at the Mediterraneo were brilliant. In addition to all that, the location is fantastic, right next to the Teatro Massimo, where the airport bus stops, and the streets with all the outdoor restaurants. Judging by the other comments, the size and shape of rooms seem to be pot luck. Mine was big and barren, as was the bathroom, which actually had a bath. In terms of facilities, it may well be closer to two star rather than three, but it is still great value and I remain enormously grateful for their help.

Excellent location close to restaurants, shops and just off historical district on a pedestrian street. Well kept hotel. We were in the residence , the older section. We had a large efficiency unit- clean but not renovated. We could not use the kitchen because we had taken the \"room only \" price - Still very good for the what we paid in Palermo.

a bit grey - but well located

The Albergo Mediterraneo is tucked away in a quiet street close to the opera house, near the modern centre and night-life of Palermo and maybe 15 min walking to the old town. The rooms are quite spacious, but we got an outdated one in the style of the 60s. Robust furniture at the time that have turned a bit grey and worn down by now. Some floors have been renovated, though, so there must be some better rooms available. Breakfast offered a decent choice of food, but coffee was served from a machine. Reception desk was helpful.

Very Pleased

This was a good hotel for a great price. The location was good with easy access to shops and restaurants. The staff spoke English and answered any questions but was not overly helpful. The room was clean and they offered a breakfast which we didn't get to take advantage of since we only stayed one night. We chose to take a cab from the airport which was about a 30 minutes ride for about 45 Euros. Not the cheapest but it was easier since we had a lot of luggage. Overall I think this was a really good hotel and would recommend it.

Ok, but depends on what you're after

Good location, easy to walk to from the train station.Our room was fine, although it had no air conditioning which would be a problem in the summer, bathroom was very cramped though.If you're tall or maybe a bit wider than you'd like, you might struggle with the shower. I would only recommend this for two nights at the most, and if you don't plan on spending much time at the hotel. If its somewhere that you want to sleep and plan on being out the rest of the time its decent value for the price you pay.

Al momento della prenotazione non mi è stato segnalato che la stanza sarebbe stata in una dependance il cui accesso avviene o tramite scale o tramite un ascensore alquanto angusto e dall'apparenza poco sicura. La stanza era un miniappartamento con cucina (superiore a quello di cui avevo bisogno) e la colazione non risultava inclusa in quanto presente la cucina in camera. Sarebbe stato gradito a quel punto trovare una macchinetta per il caffé con delle cialde.... per due notti di certo non compro una moka e il caffé...
La stanza ha un bel balcone che si affaccia sulla strada. Erano in corso dei lavori nell'edificio per cui di giorno era impossibile riposare tra trapani, martelli pneumatici e urla.
Nel complesso bene ma non benissimo.

L’hotel a partire dalla hall si presenta molto vecchio e obsoleto.
La camera è stata ristrutturata in parte e in malo modo.
Molto rumorosa.
Colazione abbondante ma di scarsa qualità con alcuni prodotti finiti subito

Otroligt läge nära precis allt men räkna med ett nedslaget smutsigt hotell. Fanns hår överallt på golvet speciellt i badrummet. Toalett man behöver manuellt spola utan knapp. Sängen helt ok. Trevlig personal.

Tutto perfetto! Abbiamo soggiornato in una camera quadrupla molto spaziosa, dotata di tutti i comfort. La colazione a buffet era ricca, varia e di ottima qualità. L’albergo si trova in pieno centro storico, a due passi dal Teatro Massimo, e offre anche la possibilità di parcheggiare, un grande vantaggio. Un’esperienza davvero positiva che speriamo di ripetere presto!

Hôtel central pour court séjour à Palerme

Hôtel très central avec possibilité de parking souterrain pour 25€/nuit donc très pratique même si un peu cher. Notre studio était propre et la literie confortable mais l’hôtel en général mérite un grand coup de frais et de neuf, et les parties communes sont moyennement propres.

Budget is the key word

Budget hotel in the middle of town. You get what you pay for. Clean enough rooms with private bathroom and that’s about it. Skip the breakfast as it is the cheapest of the cheap products and the staff at the breakfast is borderline hostile.
