While the room we were allocated had an excellent view over the harbour, it was narrow and would have benefited from better bedside lights for reading in the evening.

We were extremely pleased with the Tara Hotel all around. This hotel was beautifully and newly renovated when we stayed and every aspect of the hotel is top notch in quality, offering a luxurious and equally cozy experience. Our room was directly facing the harbor, offering beautiful ocean views and our son loved watching the big trawlers in the harbor. Each room has a digital panel outside the room for guests to indicate a make-up request, DND and even has a doorbell. The bathroom was beautiful, and the beds were very comfortable.

The restaurant was very nice and the food was tasty, albeit slightly on the expensive side. The pub downstairs is cozy and gives off an old pub feeling, but it's clearly very new. The included breakfast was great and the staff were all very pleasant.

All-in-all, The Tara exceeded our expectations in nearly every way, and we would highly recommend a stay here if you're staying outside of Donegal.

No Laundry Available

Stayed here for an overnight as part of a larger trip. Hotel is under renovation so exterior had construction and interior of halls mid renovation but room was beautiful, big and very comfortable. It mentions laundry facilities but no laundry available, had to drive 5-10 minutes down the road to do laundry which wasn’t the cheapest. We ended up eating dinner at the Fleet Inn which was about 5-10 minute walk away which was very good.

Not worth the money during renovations!!

When I arrived the Hotel was under renovation and this was not added to any of the web site or on hotels.com or I would of picked a different hotel, I was in a room that had just been plaster boarded but not completed, its didn’t have a TV defo not worth £124 a night, breakfast was weird as the orange juice did not taste like orange juice, the room was freezing as the radiator was too small for the room and I had to go to reception to ask them to put the heater on. the worker didn’t stop working till 20:00 to 20:30! And the hotel did not offer me another room or compensation other then Gunnies and 1 glass Jamesons to warm. To be honest the people were nice but they should of closed the hotel completely until the refurbished was complete instead taken customer money and giving the customer a poor experience on the their first time visits i think personally they should at least discounted these room because they were not worth £124 and night! A complete disappointment to say the least and even if the hotel was completely renovated I would not considered this hotel again for the fact they still charged full price for a rubbish room which didn’t have a TV and only the bathroom was complete.

Hotel is under renovation. Should have been disclosed when booking. No parking at the hotel. Parked car three blocks away on city street. Room was dirty. Found food wraps and food on carpet. Bathroom fixture was broke. Last straw, room included breakfast. Tried to order coffee. They said instant coffee included, we had to pay for brewed coffee.

Let me start by saying the food is lovely and the staff very friendly and most helpful and the room itself on first glance clean and lovely bearing in mind it was a superior suite it should be . Very clean and comfortable bed HOWEVER, there was a continuous constant droning noise in the room mostly above the bed . On asking reception about it we were told it was the fans from the kitchen and they would be turned off at 9pm. Found this weird as we were on the top floor but there it was. NO it continued through r the night droning on and on the kind of noise that gets inside your head!!! And to top it all below us we had a guest that from 2am was wailing constantly until 8am not the fault of the hotel I know but the other was so all in all the worst nights sleep I have ever had would probably have been better off in one of the other rooms so until they get that noise sorted out DONT book the Tara suite

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room had a wonderful view right over the harbour - we even spotted an otter in the water!

There is a fairly busy road right outside but with the window closed, we barely even noticed any noise.

All staff were friendly and helpful, and everywhere was very clean. I would recommend a stay here!

Nice hotel which is currently being remodeled and updated. Room was nice, hallways a bit musty. In July our room was too warm and the windows only open 2”! Hard to cool it down. We asked for a fan but it barely worked. Would have been great if windows opened.
Everything was clean and breakfast was wonderful.

We enjoyed this hotel. Though there is not specific parking lot for the hotel there is a good lot across the street or you can park on the street. It is all free. There are some nice dining options. We were even able to take a boat tour from the town which was excellent.

Room was fine but first night dinner was haphazard with roast beef arrived,5min later chips arrived, 5min later veg arrived, drinks ordered but after 10min had to get a waiter to reorder.same problem with desert menu.Flrst breakfast complete opposite of what we asked for, second day breakfast no fresh fruit although still 2hours of breakfast time left.When breakfast arrived the sautéed potatoes were not even half cooked,. Service very poor.

Undisclosed to us at the time we made the reservation in January, the property is in the middle of a major renovation. The construction work started before 8:00am each morning and lasted into the evening. It was very noisy and we were constantly having to walk around ladders and various equipment. The staff was apologetic, but certainly not enough to offer us a discount on our room because of the inconvenience.

There was also NO hotel parking, as what appeared to be a parking lot, was also under construction. We had to find a place to park on the street near the hotel every night. In addition, the bed was not very comfortable. They did, however, offer a good hot breakfast with plenty of coffee. The staff was nice and helpful. As I pointed out upon leaving, this project should have been completed long before the start of the peak tourist season. My advice is to stay away until they’ve completed the project.

There is NO PARKING within the hotel grounds but on street parking outside and it is pot luck whether you can park close by. The claim to have parking is misleading at best.

The property is old style quaint and very clean. Our double and single bed room was nice and roomy. There are nice eating venues nearby and a brilliant fish and chip kiosk down on the seaside. Joan and Loretta on the desk were very helpful on arrival as was the gentleman on the desk next morning.

We reserved the Diamond Suite. It is a good-sized room. It was clean and quiet. The staff was kind. The only problem is that the beds need to be replaced. There are no springs left, and we sunk to the middle of the bed. We all woke up with our backs hurting.

Booked last minute for my young sons and I for Mothers Day.

Receptionist on arrival was quite sharp/rude when we arrived and not friendly atall (9th March 2023), however the receptionist on the 2nd morning (10th March with dark hair) was very nice, smiling and friendly, as should of been the welcome when we first arrived form the other woman.

Rooms and bathroom were clean and breakfast was just OK if I'm honest.

Having stayed in a variety of hotels over the years, I feel the hotel could benefit from some staff training, particularly as a first point of contact for guests and possibly a swimming pool or games room long term for children as there is not a great deal in Killybegs to do for them, unless you drive to Letterkenny to Arena 7.

Would not go out of my way to book this place again unfortunately.

This is in a cool fishing village. The large fishing vessels are right out the hotel windows. Water view. Attached restaurant. Convenience store across the street. Free street parking in the entire town. About a 30 minute drive to Slieve League. Staff very helpful.

Great location for hotel just overlooking the harbour. Staff were helpful and pleasant especially at getting us a table at the bar for 6 and giving us attention all evening. Bedroom was too warm for us and my husband could feel the springs his side of the bed. Had a bath with shower over and lots of hot water. Parking was outside hotel or at adjacent car park (free). Limited hotels in killybegs but would stay again.

The location was great, and right in the city centre. The car park was full but we were able to find a spot on the road right in front of the hotel. Check-in was easy and our room was perfect for what our family needed. There is no central air and with the heat it was a little warmer than was comfortable. Other than that, it was perfect.
