The hotel is in the heart of Casco Viejo with all the attractions walkable. Our room was on the 4th floor, no elevator, past the youth hostel floors. The room does not have a kitchen. It has a small refrigerator and coffee maker. There is a shared fully stocked kitchen on the 2nd floor with full size fridge and water dispenser. Bathroom towels were soft and big, shower hot, blow dryer, soap and shampoo. King size bed was firm, couch converts to bed but we didn’t need to use it. AC kept room cool and ceiling fan moved the cool air around.

Not the best place I would recommend to stay. Shower did not work and no hot water - they did fix that but when you pay a high price for your stay your expectations were dashed. Room was lacking and no tea or coffee unless you go up to hostel area and get it from there. The Staff were very good and helpful. We would not stay there again!

No phone in the room. No small fridge. No iron or iron board. Ac was not cooling. First night was no water to shower etc and we weren't informed. I wrote to whatsapp number for hotel and never recieved a response. I wrote online recieved a response 1 and a half day after saying they will onform front desk to reimburse something from our first night due to no water. To date i haven't recieved any response and thats been since 23 Jan 2026. What we paid was def not worth it.

Since we used travelocity they treated us poorly. Made us wait for over an hour while checking in other guests, they kept telling ux they had to validate our room. Room stunk of mold so much caused a headache. They changed our room. Room shade fell off the wall. Overall run down hotel not worth the money. Pictures are nothing like the rooms.Avoid if possible

The staff was attentive and great. In fact, the staff was put in a difficult position as reprentatives of an inadequate facility. The pictures and description do not properly represent the reality of Magnolia Inn. Magnolia is primarily a hostel and most staying there were backpackers staying in dormitory rooms. My backpacling days are well behind me and I expected to be staying in a proper hotel for our one-week stay. Unfortunately, our room had no closet for our clothes. No bureau to put our clothes away. No housekeeping services....Fortunaely, after four nights the staff was able to move us to another room that had a closet and housekeeping. My problem is not that the Magnolia did not provide these services but that the property was not presented for what it was and was not.

The room was clean and the hotel was in a great location close to many things to do in the old city. There are lots of restaurants and cafes near by where you can have breakfast or enjoy a great dinner.

The only thing I need to mention is that some of the nights there was some loud music from some out door dance club or restaurant that lasted until 2:00 AM. This did interrupt our sleep

Here is my honest review of the hotel and the deluxe private room we booked:
1. The hotel was difficult to get to because of the configuration of the surrounding one way streets
2. The room smelled musty, and when we turned the air con on, it smelled of mold. Our lungs hurt after 40 mins in the room
3. When we tried to wash or hands, we discovered our room had NO RUNNING WATER. We went to the front desk and they said there was no water throughout the entire hotel cz their water tank needed to be refilled and the truck couldn’t get there to refill it.

We cancelled our reservation, demanded our money back, and booked another hotel. The front desk staff were very nice and apologetic. I’m disappointed that Expedia would have this hotel with such a high review rating on its site. It was certainly misleading.

The Magnolia is perfectly placed in the heart of Casca Viejo in Panama City. It’s also a very short drive (10 min) to the Miraflores Visitor Center to see the Panama Canal.

It’s incredibly walkable. It’s a five min walk to all the attractions in Casca Viejo. I also found it easy to get picked up and dropped off for ride share apps (Uber). The hotel offered a pick up/drop off service from the airport. I used the service to get from the airport to the hotel so that I wouldn’t have to worry about transportation first thing. It would have been simple to just call an Uber and it would have saved me about $20. Ubers in Panama City in general are very easy.

The hotel also offered a daily walking tour of Casca Viejo (tips only). This tour was great! It was about 2.5 hours. It left the lobby at 9:45 am. Walked all over. This may have been the highlight of my stay.

The hotel was nice. It was clean, the beds were firm, the bathroom had shampoo and body wash. It felt slightly dated but not dirty.

There was a shared kitchen space so all guest could cook, use the fridge or freezer, use the appliances, share ingredients/spices, etc. I didn’t use the shared kitchen but I think that’s a cute idea. There was tea and coffee offered every morning in the shared kitchen area (there was not a coffee maker in the room).

The staff were nice and gave me information about where to eat a few times.

They offer luggage storage, which we used twice without any problems.

Stars given only for location and for the nice teenaged receptionist at arrival.
1) The first room I was given was dirty. As in, had not been cleaned at all: dirty towels balled on the floor, hair in the sink, trash overflowing, bed unmade. I was switched to a ground-level room for the first night, very noisy.
2) The water shut off on day 3, a staffer shrugged and said “it happens” and did not offer any help with my needs. (A manager later told me the water should be back in 1/2 hour, it was)
3) everyone in the neighborhood knows the key code for the lobby entrance; the front desk is often unattended: poor security.
4) no elevator and all rooms are up or down stairs; no dedicated bellman.

Tbh it is hard to rate because the staff and location were great. The problem that is easily solved by black out curtains almost ruined the time we spent there. We were in room 4 which is on the corner with a huge and bright street light shining directly at you all night. Additionally the windows are at street level so everyone standing on the corner waiting for taxis etc is literally at eye level with you inside the room. The curtains are see through and don’t quite stretch enough to cover the middle and both ends. You have to decide if you want a gap in the middle or on the ends. The room was so bright we had to put towels up over the curtains to try to cut the direct light. Even that did not stop the room from being daylight bright all night. For us we are out all day and the only reason to have a hotel is for sleeping so this was really bad. Invest in black out curtains and I’m sure your guests will give you a most excellent ratings.

1st thing the pickup taxi did not arrive at airport. They got the dates completely wrong. 2nd The bathroom was outside the bedroom. 3rd The aircon didn’t work but they did fix it for the 2nd night. It’s more of a hostel than a hotel. Location is good.

My Stay there was poor. 1) no elevator 61 steps from the front door to room 21. I am 71yrs old that was not easy. The bath room sink the water control was loose and not secure. this room has three lights all tied together. no reading lamp. you have to get up to cut the light. I requested cleaning one day the maid did nothing she did not change the sheet or pick trash or clean the dishes this was the worst stay ever.

The lights in the room were insufficient. There was no light near the entry door, so you had to either turn on the light inside the bathroom or go near the beds where the only 2 lights were located. And those 2 lights were pendant lights which didn't even make enough light to light up the room.

Hotel was just okay. Would I stay here again probably not. No up keep, not the cleanest of hotels. Sand in our sheets making me believe sheets were not changed. Old used coffee filters in coffee machine with no new coffee to use, room was on 3rd floor no elevators in case you are traveling with people with disabilities. Did have some views. Again was just ok, more like a fancy hostel!

From the moment i stepped inside the staff greeted me with open arms. Because I arrived early I stored my bags while I headed out for an early lunch and a drink. The location was great. One corner of the block offered a wine bar, the other corner a brewery, and right next door to that another great restaurant/bar. Two blocks beyond that there was a mini mart two minutes beyond that the laundromat .Made a few stops in the story and it had everything I needed to make my week long stay a bit more comfortable. I was on a side street so hearing any cars or people wasnt any issue. Location was the best. Walking distance from plenty of dining options and sites.

The airport to hotel taxi arrangement was messed up. Taxi was sent to Terminal 1 even though my flight details were provided and landed in Terminal 2. Taxi company tried to contact the taxi driver. I tried to contact the taxi driver too but no response. Finally, after an hours wait, the taxi company apologized and asked me to catch an Uber.

The power went out in the building for hours. The toilet wouldn’t flush, the a/c wouldn’t work and there was no light. I chose to stay at another hotel and they refused to refund me the night stay despite the condition of the property. Expedia was of no help and made promise to help but never came through.

The first room we were in on first floor we could not sleep as the neighbors were playing loud music in the street. The front desk stated this occurs all the time and all they can do is call the police. They did this many times over 3 days. We liked the first floor room as the bathroom was in the room too. But could not stand the noise. When we came back at end of week we were on 3rd floor. There is no elevator so let’s just say our legs got a workout. Javier was amazing and brought our biggest luggage up for us. The bedroom was nice but the bathroom was accross the hall. Tiny hot bathroom as no air conditioning in it and the shower was strange with a wood slat floor. The maids came up there to get stored linens and were noisy. One maid walked into our room even though a do not disturb sign was on door. I slipped on the floors in kitchen as it was just mopped but no sign put up to let me know. I will say the staff there were incredible. They make up for any shortcomings for sure.

Magnolia Inn es un Hostal con solo algunas habitaciones individuales con baño privado, pero su línea de servicio es la de un Hostal, si espera un hotel formal con todos los servicios que un hotel provee (Servicio Diario de limpieza, amenidades en la habitación, desayuno, etc) este lugar no es para usted. El personal es agridulce, la mayoría muy atento, pero algunos tienen cualidades limitadas de servicio al cliente. El edificio es hermoso, bien ambientado en general, en una zona muy bien ubicada en el casco viejo detrás de la catedral, No hay ascensor, y las habitaciones individuales están en el 4to piso por lo que debe ir preparado para subir 70 escalones cada vez que entre.

Magnolia Inn was the perfect place for us to stay while in Panama City. Centrally located in the heart of Casco Viejo, it is near great restaurants, tours, etc. The hot shower was glorious, especially after coming back from San Blas Islands still sticky from sunblock and sand. We loved having the common areas, especially the kitchen, to keep our leftovers and save some money on meals. I would definitely go back there next time I’m in Panama!

Excellent hotel to start our family reunion in Panama before heading to Playa Venao---friendly and helpful staff for our overnight in Panama City, great suggestion for local fair at restaurant off the plaza and Magnolia Inn is well situated in Casco Veijo and lots of places to check out in walking distance. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy if you are going to book this hotel make sure you read everything i book the room with the 2 queen bed upon arrival the person at the front desk told me that I would have to leave out of the room and go outside in the hallway to used the bathroom because it is not inside the room never heard of such rubbish i decided to take a smaller room with this no towels or soap i ask the gentleman at the front desk if he could have the cleaners put towels and soap in the bathroom they only gave us two towels for three persons we have to share towels keep asking for more but never got more than two i decided to asked for the room to be cleaned and the cleaner that clean the room stoley pajamas i left it on top of my suitcase and it was gone i turn the room upside down inside out it was nowhere to be found the next thing I have to buy light bulbs to place in the lamp we could not open our blinds due to someone eyes will be making contact with yours and the club beneath the room was unbearable we could not sleep because of the noise from the people at the club my mom stayed up all night because of the noise there's much more to say but I'll just leave it here i know y'all will get the picture if there was zrro that is what I would give them worst place ever

I was a bit unhappy to find there was no elevator and I had booked a luxury room on the 3rd floor. Adrian told me he would be happy to help with my luggage but then he was able to switch some things around so I had a ground floor room. He still helped me with my luggage! He was very kind and helpful! Thanks for making my stay better!
