“Pretend this is upscale glamping” said my partner.

King bed was two twins pushed together with lumpy middle. Heater was insanely loud even with earplugs for sleep. My home bidet is more pressurized than the shower head.

Room was death by a thousand annoyances — stained towels, loose plugs that drop your charger, no liner to shower, broken missing hook for second towel, watery coffee, chipped coffee jug, faucet too low to fit water bottle, toilet seat too small for bowl, WiFi crapping out.

Room in serious need of updates with peeling paint. Overall dingy feeling. What we saved on nightly rates, we spent on eating out because it was too depressing staying inside.

This s an old motel recently renovated vey nice small rooms, good refrigerator and microwave. The only concern was the bed, not comfortable, but the cozy blanket was wonderful. Nice quite area in the trees great place to relax after a long drive.

Brought back memories of my childhood travels.

We were moving up from San Diego to Portland and decided to break up the drive over a series of days to minimize the stress on ourselves and our cat. The Cedar Lake Lodge was a great spot to rest for the night. We arrived around 5pm and quickly checked in. I fell in love with the serenity of my surroundings and the overall ambience reminded me of the hotels/motels of my childhood. The fact that they still have actual keys for their doors instead of key cards was enough to get me excited. The room was extremely clean and despite there being two beds, it was spacious enough for three grown people to move around with ease. The staff was helpful when it came to finding a local restaurant to eat at (Penny's Diner is open 24 hours and their staff was awesome!)! Highly recommend this place if you are wanting peace and quiet and a trip down memory lane!

These little lodges were quaint but not great. The shower in the room was not accomodating for someone my size, 6 ft 250, i could barely wash myself without hitting an elbow on a wall. The beds were small and no air conditioner. The old key lock locks behind you so bring your key out to your car. The setting is bery nice but tye walls are thin and we could hear the children next door crying and screaming. For the price, yes labor day weekend, but not worth it.

Definately an older property, but it got the job done. The front desk staff that greated me gave some great advice about trails and was very friendly. It can be hard to travel with a larger family and it was nice that there were ample beds and privacy (we were in a suite). Super close to hiking trails and waterfalls.
Lots of lakes and other small towns, such as Mt. Shasta, nearby.

When I first drove up to the property and I thought oh no. It looks very old and somewhat unkempt. Inside the room was nice though. Very clean and good lighting. Unfortunately there is a bed frame below the mattress that has a very sharp edge on it and I cut my leg open on it.

Very nice owners and the room was really great. It's an old lodge in the woods so don't expect a 5 star downtown NYC hotel, but the coffee, toiletries and bed sheets were all high quality. Like I said great nice owners too, and there's a 24/7 diner across the street. Would highly recommend!

A very safe, quaint, and peaceful motel. The family who owns it is very nice and the rooms are super clean. What i really liked about it was they had swings outside and a big beautiful aviary with lots of sweet birds. There is also a coy pond inside the aviary. Great price for a nice clean place to stay.

There was Wifi, But it was not strong enough to use and it kept cutting off.
Everything was clean and warm and the beds still held up.The bright lights on the porch came through the blackout curtains and still lit up the room.

The bed was comfortable and the good part ends there. The room was dirty, water was warm at best and almost everything was very old and broken or on its last legs. Based on previous user reviews we expected better but this motel is not up to the rating on hotels.com. Would not stay here again

The property looked interesting and had some beautiful trees scattered around. We arrived late in the night and the gentleman working the front desk was very nice and friendly. The room appeared decently comfortable and the mattress was nice. However, we were immediately hit with a strong animal(?) urine smell coming from the bathroom. There was also a sign in the room saying to not leave animals unattended (perhaps it’s in response to the animal urine?). Then, we found multiple spiders in well established webs next to the beds we cleaned before going to sleep. They clearly aren’t cleaning around the beds, floorboards, etc… The worst part, in the middle of the night, we discovered the toilet was leaking (what smelled to be) raw sewage on the bathroom floor. The floor was soaking wet under the tiles and smelled awful. The floor was so dirty a swipe of a napkin immediately rendered it black. The shower was equally dirty and disgusting. Had this not been then middle of the night, we would have left or asked for another room. We resorted to laying the towels on the floor so we could take brief showers. Then, we had to wear shoes inside the room, due to not wanting to stand in raw sewage. The condition of the bathroom was so appalling, the obvious dirtiness, and the awful smell makes me believe there is no way the management can be unaware. These problems were so obvious, they clearly don’t care. It was way overpriced for these conditions too. My room was a health hazard.

This is an older place that shows pride of ownership. The room was clean, with decent amenities, soft towels, good bed, and so on. The room is small but it was just me so it was no problem.

Dunsmuir, at least that strip where this motel is, is right next to a hill on the freeway so it has lots of freeway noise. I was fine with it but it’s worth knowing about. The room next to mine was empty but I suspect that the walls might need thin, as they were in older motels.

I read reviews before I booked and some said ok for passing through. Don’t stay here. The guy that checked us in was barefoot and looked asleep. Our room was unlocked and the bathroom floor mat was on a chair outside. The room was horrible. It smelled so bad of mold and mildew it was hard to breathe. Very dusty and dirty. Stains everywhere. Feminine products in the trash. A used toothbrush and deodorant in the medicine cabinet. The hair dryer cord was broken and the wires were hanging there. We left. We could not stay. So overly disappointed.

Older drive-in type of motel, unique but there was a big group using the common backyard area for a party in the evening so we stayed in our room. Clean, simple room with air conditioning. We didn’t have pets with us but good to know that they allow them. Check in at the office was easy.

We just stopped overnight on a long drive. The room was fine. Kind of nostalgic. Reminisic of the Route 66 motels. Cute pillows on the bed. Bed was a bit soft (I am a bigger guy) wife was OK with it. Had a frig, microwave and Flat screen tv. Ice machine was not working but there were ice trays with ice in the frig. Yak's Burgers was close for a meal. Yak's has a charge station behind it for an EV. The town of Shasta is not far.

Family unit large but not fancy.

We booked this place for our family if 6 for two nights in July. The size worked out perfectly, the family unit had two double beds and two twin beds that stack. It has a kitchen but we couldn’t figure out how to make the oven work. It was a convenient location to the Dunsmuir waterfalls. The actual hotel is quite old and run down but they did their best to keep it clean, and had two working AC units which kept the place cool in 100 degrees. The size and space was large, but definitely not fancy. The price was right.

Indoor upgrades needed, outdoor space is great!

Upon arrival, I noticed that it was easy to get to from the freeway and had ample parking. Location was great with plenty of trees and nice views from the property. We were able to check in a little early during a major heatwave, which was appriciated. Outside of that, we didn't have much interaction with lodge staff. The ice machine was out of order, but there was a soda vending machine available. The room is in need of updating. The \"air conditioning\" is a swamp cooler that didn't help much when it was 109° outside. The bed mattress was pretty uncomfortable & I didn't sleep most of the night. I liked the unique aviary & koi pond, and the outdoor picnic area was very relaxing.

Cedar Lodge Motel got the job done, I had a place to sleep but it could use some improvements. None of the outlets would hold my computer charger, kept falling out. There is only a person at the the front counter from 11am to 4pm.

One benefit, they do have an aviary with some pretty sweet birds!

Fair for the Price-clean and safe.

This was an extension of a week in Mt Shasta. I tried to book something in Shasta, but everything was booked. Dunsmuir is only a 6-mile drive from the town of Shasta and I was familiar with the area. Check-in was easy. I was given a real key--hadn't seen one of those for a while—plenty of parking. It was an older motel, but the room was fine. It was clean with basics. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioner worked fine. This is a \"mom and pop\" owned place. When I had trouble with the Wi-Fi login, I called--it was kind of late. The owner was very nice. I could get on but Wifi was very slow and kept cutting out. I never turned on the TV so can't comment on that. It was fine for a one-night stay. Dunsmuir has its attractions--there is a waterfall within walking distance. This place is also very close to the freeway--but was surprisingly quiet.

The pictures posted on this property were very flattering, they must have used very tight shots. The outside was cluttered and the units looked quite old and run down. Inside was clean but minimalist; shower looks to be from the 60s/ 50s, beds look clean and comfortable. Locks on the doors were old style in knob twist locks with key. This place gives every impression of owners who collect fees but do no upgrades or maintenance.

Cute little lodge, convenient to a couple hiking trails. We stayed here one night on a road trip and had a good experience. The lodge is older, but the rooms have been remodeled. The bathroom/shower is small. The beds were a bit hard. The bathroom doesn’t have a vanity just a sink with a small mirror. The light fixture was missing 2 lightbulbs. Our room was the 1st one by the street which was busy traffic…so was a little loud to sleep.
Can’t complain for a basic 1 night no frills stay… At least it was clean!

Partner and kids couldn't bath comfortably due to insufficient hot water, wifi connection was worse than mobile data in the mountains. Nice area and cozy room, though you can tell it was cleaned by the children of the owners.

The gas line for the range was shut off, which leads me to believe it leaks, we turned it on and used it but did not feel comfortable leaving it on.

Just not worth the money if you want to have a nice trip with your family. Would not recommend

The wifi was horrible and there is not much reception unless you stand by the street. Bed was very hard. My biggest complaint was that there was a porch light right outside the room and it makes it near impossible to get it dark in the room at night. It is very bright, like the sun never went down. Outside, the property is pretty and peaceful. Overall this is a clean place to stay that is cheaper than staying in Shasta, but I definitely wouldn't spend more than a night or two, and I probably won't be going back, unless they remodel.
