A bed sit pretending to be fine dining

I am okay that most hotels in Eswatini are basic. But giving me attitude when you are already annoying the customer was just unacceptable. I had booked the most expensive room for the view. They gave me room number 1. The wifi was so bad l had to spend most of my time in the lobby for wifi. Also the floor had what looked like cockroach waste. Then I had a bottle of opened white wine with me I was planning to finish. I ordered the largest T-bone steak in the restaurant and asked if I could finish my wine with the steak. I said I will even order a latte and dessert to compensate. Not allowed the mamasan said. I said I was the ONLY customer in your restaurant. If I wasn't there you'd not even make money on my T-bone steak. No. Then the electricity blanks out in the hotel while I was still eating my steak. What compensation do I get for that? The t-bone was no good. This is not a fine dining restaurant by any measure. Being relaxed would have enabled me to enjoy the place for what it is. The maitra de was just out of line and really stupid for not making more money out of me. Overall the view of the valley was nothing to write home about. And yes, run down furniture as some of the previous reviews have said. I could hear the traffic from my room number one.
Just for not allowing me to enjoy my wine made this the worst place you can stay in eswatini. Let me not go on about the taxi fare to the airport. Rip off. Unpleasant all around.

Had a very relaxing time here. I think this is one of the hotels/restaurants in the country with an awesome view. We enjoyed the pool (one of the few pools in the country deep enough where you can actually swim). Attentive staff. Good food at the restaurant. Working WiFi. A short drive to the center of town for shopping and dining. It would be nice to have more cable channels.

My Mountain Inn Experience

It was amazing. The workers were very good and friendly. We arrived late but we could still order meals which were also so delicious and prepared at the reasonable time. The scenery was spectacular despite the misty weather.

A wide assortment of items, well prepared. Coffee and hot toast was brought to the table shortly after we has selected our items from the buffet. We have no complaints or issues whatsoever.

Hilltop location with gorgeous views

It is rated as 3 star so don't expect fridge, minibar, Michelin menu. But it has free Wifi, satellite TV (mostly South African), air conditioning. Main thing is the location, on a hilltop just outside Mbabane, with views right down the Ezulwini valley a few thousand feet below. Staff all very friendly, competent and helpful without being intrusive. Decent breakfast buffet, evening choice of buffet or reasonable a la carte selection. Two warnings - it is not so easy to find from the new bypass road (MR3), and due to its hilltop location the weather can be a bit variable - we were shrouded in mist the day we arrived, but had sun and fantastic views later. Oh, and the price is very reasonable.

Superbe Hotel, good value for price.

The best Hotel we encountered so far on our travel through Swaziland. There was a haevy thunderstorm hitting the town and a current black out . But the emergency power station of the hotel responded instantly and electricity cam back on the spot. Very friendly personal and service. The owners came to the guests for a little chat asking if everything was in order.
Buffet dinner was excellent and so was the service and the attention of the waiters.
Cleanliness of room and hotel was spotless. Reception and check-in was quick and friendly.
Big choice at breackfast buffet, excellent. Good cafe!
We only can highly recomment this hotel.

The TV in our room was not working. I complain the whole time. It was not fixed at all.
We are old and can only shower. We have to wash all the time. The shower was inside the bath tub and it was very slippery inside the bath to shower. There was no fridge inside the room to store cold water.

I took my wife for her 60 yrs birthday to this place. It was a disaster day and night.

Comfortable hotel with old time character

It has a tranquil location although not far from business, not far at all but a guest without car is in a trouble. There is no shuttle to anywhere and the taxis the hotel use are not the most reliable ones and being a residential area there are no taxis around. The rooms would do with some face-lifting and modernization, but they are comfy.

This hotel as beautiful grounds and rooms with the view out over the valley it is very convenient to the local game reserves and attractions its restaurant had outstanding food both off the menu and through a buffet. It is easy access to the local highways and has a convenient parking area.

Poolside rooms TV poor reception. Safety required when shower in bathtub- no handles or bath safety mats. Taps other end of bath to shower, and in our bath, shower head too low.

Friendly and Relaxing Environment

A friendly, relaxing place to stay. It reminded me of an old school hotel / guest house. My only gripes were the price of the wifi where only 30 minutes a day was free. I was there on business and having to pay R150 for 4 hours at a time was expensive and inconvenient. Secondly, when I went to check out at 6:15am I was told I was too early and I should have done it the night before. Then the computer would not print the invoice. All was resolved in the end but it would have been nice to know beforehand.

The Hotel is situated nicely overlooking the valley.
Check-in and service was great and efficient.

Rooms are large but very plain. Lack any charme / decoration.
Cleanliness could be better.

Pleasant however...

Pleasant, however the rooms were disappointing. We booked 2 rooms, one was subjected to a banging noise in the roof all night and which drowned by a noisy air conditioner. The other room had to be changed as one could not sleep in the bed as the mattress was definitely expired!
The staff at this hotel were great and went the extra mile with all requests.

Location is good. The view over the valley is superb. However maintenance is a problem. It was very, very cold and the heating system in my room wasn't working. All equipment in the room is old and needs to be replaced. This includes TV set, Aircon, bathtub and all curtains. On the other hand why I'm I complaining if the rate per day was only $75?

Relatively easy to find for a family from the UK who have never been to Swaziland before. Standard of the rooms equated to the price and were comfortable and clean and good value. Nice shower and tea/coffee in room. Helpful, welcoming staff. Lovely restaurant, delicious steaks and lovely wine - all reasonably priced.
Lovely garden and outstanding view. If the weather had been warmer I'm sure we would have enjoyed the pool.
Thanks to all. We'd definitely recommend.

Not bad for an overnight stay

My wife and I used Mountain Inn as a precursor to the Bush Fire Festival and the hotel served its purpose. The room was decent, although the bathroom could use some improvement (rusty shower rod, a bit of mold on the tiles), but overall it wasn't a bad place to be. The view of Ezulwini Valley was a plus! Overall, I think we would come back again since we didn't get a chance to experience the restaurant or the bar.

Did not get lost on the way to the hotel. On arrival, the check-in clerk was quite slow but as soon as we were in the room, it was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and the view from the poolside is magnificent! The staff were friendly.

Good for a one-night stay

We spent one night at the Mountain Inn on our way through to Mosambik. You can tell that it has seen better times, but it was certainly ok for a one-night stay. It has a nice view over the valley, is located relatively close to the Center of Mbabane (5 minutes driving). It was quiet when we were there. If they have big parties which they seem to do from time to time you may have to be careful with the selection of your room.

Peaceful and Comfortable Stay

The Mountain Inn has a beautiful location and is a great place to stay especially for the price. The rooms are spacious and although a bit outdated, they are comfortable. The hotel staff and restaurant staff and extremely nice and welcoming and the food is really great. The internet is really good throughout the hotel rooms and conference center. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

i had a great time however we found it difficult to get to the place as there are no signs on the freeway to give you direction and even after we were off the free way the sign was just not there it was a struggle to get to the hotel and to make things worse it was at night. otherwise the hotel is beautiful i loved everything about it i will not mind visiting again.

The hotel is OK, considering what's available in Mbabane, but the service was terrible. Better time your hunger and thirst with the limited times the restaurant is open (yes, it will be hard to even get a bottle of water). I am not sure why the reviews for this hotel are so great. The level of service at the front desk is just plain bad, from everyone but one young lady that works there. Most of the folks I dealt with are beyond incompetent. Think of it as a decent place to sleep, and not much else (the Royal Swazi Sun is the only high end option in the area, but get your wallet out).
