Pool was not in service.
Wonderful wildlife experience. On site right in front our room, we have seen; monkeys, zebras, wildebeest, hyppo, birds! Rooms are quite bigs. Hot shower nice and food is a buffet (that would have been nice to have a la carte diner).

Excellent experience overall, i highly recommend.

I booked and paid for a delux room with three beds. Instead, the room we were allocated upon check in, had one kind bed, they then added a macro small bed making the room to lack space.

The selling room description is not what we got. Very misleading.

What a great place! A lot of historic charm and wildlife on the grounds - the staff were amazingly kind and gracious. Reception team was warm and welcoming. Excellent hot showers. In passing conversation, my husband mentioned that the Lake Naivasha Country club was where he proposed to me 25 years ago. The operations manager Danep somehow noted this and a few hours later at dinner arranged to have a beautiful cake made that said \"marry me again\". It was such a thoughtful touch! We will definitely be back!

The check in process was extremely terrible and unpleasant.

I showed them reservation number from Expedia and they said that they can't find any booking from Expedia for a technical reason or something. And that I should show them the email to confirm. After showing the email it took them like 20 min to confirm.
I explained the issue the management in the morning and they didn't do anything about it.

The other thing, the accommodation is not good for people who want to have good sleep because of the loud noise of birds or creatures early in the morning.

The entrance to the complex is extremely off-putting and needs attention - it leaves an extremely poor first impression. The road from the entrance gate to the hotel complex is partially unsurfaced and full of potholes - it is also poorly signed. The view of the lake and Crescent Island from the hotel grounds is spoiled by the multiple derelict wooden buildings and rotting wooden walkways inside the club property lines. Either remove them or invest in their refurbishment which would attract more people to enjoy the beautiful views.

Ripoff on drinking water

The location is great. It is a shame that the management/ owners have not taken care of the appearance of the buildings and especially the lake/ garden view. The old destroyed buildings from the floods have been left there like ghosts to spoil the beautiful view. The rooms have tarnished items, some lights don’t work properly, windows need attention. Yet they have very glossy brochures showing their huge chain of hotels in Cuba …
The biggest ripoff on drinking water ever!!! They charged us the same price as a bottle of beer. KS 450???? It was the highest price we had paid ever in a hotel or lodge. Please take your own to the table / restaurant if you are going to stay there.

The property is still alluring to a visitor but there are signs everywhere of lack of maintenance and of running down. Service average, toilet didn’t flush, area near lake all rundown and closed off. The ambience feels rusty!

We had a superb stay at the lodge. The staff is one of the kindest and attentive that I encountered throughout Kenya. The COVID measures and preparedness were taken very seriously and the cleanliness was impeccable. We would definitely love to be back for another break at this lovely lodge

Everything is beautiful! Up close and personal encounters with zebras water bucks and monkeys. Very pleasant staff. Exciting hippo viewing. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Food is the best we have had in Kenya. Nearby Crescent Island is a “don’ miss” animal experience!

Some good and some bad points.

We have visited 3 times. As a couple in 2015, as a family in 2017 and now in December 2019. We have enjoyed each trip and the service and food generally is very good. Except for breakfast, which is poor quality, lots of cheap tasting cereals, juice, and yogurts. Buffet lunch and dinner are great though. The main problem with this place is it needs investment and updating. The rooms in particular are bordering on dilapidated. Our bathroom had obviously had one window broken and just been replaced with a make-shift piece of plastic. Cleaning is okay, but there seems to be many parts of the room (bathroom door) that just dont get cleaned properly if at all. Pillows and sheets are old, need replacing. Grounds are lovely and peaceful. Not much to do nearby really and there needs to be more places for guests to sit and relax. As an old British colonial era building the hotel has charm but is overpriced and has been left behind back lack of updating and investment. We have enjoyed our time at country club, particularly in 2015 but are unlikely to return without renovation and changes.

The property has a very relaxed feel and the staff are vey attentive and helpful. It has the charm of an older country club. The wifi was excellent throughout the property. The dinner served on New Years Eve was excellent. The activities after dark are limited due to the threat of wildlife and we were advised not to leave our room without an guard escort. This was a bit disappointing, as the New Year festivities couldn't be held on the great lawn, and were in a small and dark area beside the banquet hall. However, it is a great place for a quiet weekend getaway, right down the road from the Crescent Island reserve.

Nice but not luxurious...

Overall it's a nice place. But think bungalows not hotel. I stayed in a standard room and it was just that, standard. I know they have nicer but I did not visit one. The food is good but if your a foodie you won't be impressed. It's a pretty good deal when you book full board, if not it's 3000ksh per meal and is not anywhere near worth that kind of money.
The staff were great all round. The grounds were very nice and well kept. They have a nice pool as well, didn't use it but it looked clean and well maintained.
Overall a pretty nice place at a pretty decent price, not a bargain but not a ripoff.

Unfortunately we only stayed one night.
Would have loved to have stayed longer.
Lovely to see the animals roaming around
And in the morning to see all the young monkeys tumbling around.
Food was good. Would definitely recommend staying here.
We had a boat trip on the lake which was good.

Great place, some issues

Upgraded to Kiboko Luxury Camp which is on site, luxury tent was cold and we felt intimidated by the local hippos (which are dangerous animals) which came right next to the tent. Some people will love to be close to the wildlife but we just didn't. Moved to the main lodges and felt much more comfortable but still think they need to put in some more safety measures regarding hippos at night which go right up to the main lodges and security staff escorting/protecting guests are unarmed so not sure how they would stop a hippo charge. Otherwise, loved this place, staff are friendly and well trained (one or two seem to \"forget\" to return small change though), food is excellent, and the grounds are beautiful and serene. The lodges are very comfortable and we had a great time.

Best choice of hotel in the area

Right on lake with pier where small boats take you around to see the many birds and hippos at the shoreline. Huge lawn area in the back where impalas and vervet monlies roam freely. Buffet food good with great variety of items. Room comfortable and clean. Main lobby and restaurant, although clean, a little run down and could use a renovation. Once off the property you are in a dusty road with alot of small shops for locals. There are not alot of choices of nice resorts in the area so this is the place to stay.

Would Definately stay again.

When asked how to tune TV stations on the TV we were informed by reception, that it hadn't been connected yet?
Children's pool really needed cleaning as water was green. Main pool could have been cleaner as debris in bottom of pool was there for a couple of days. Outlet grill in bottom of pool missing?
Despite these minor problems we would definitely stay again.

Beautiful grounds with friendly hotel staff..

Our stay was decent. The food is alright but could do with some more variety. We did have an issue with one of the bathroom fittings but were quickly helped by the hotel staff and reassigned a new room. Apart from the lake (boat rides) and a bit of rest and relaxation, there's not much else to do here unless you can travel to nearby Hell's Gate National Park where you can do some hiking. Would be great if they had other activities at the club.

Blown Away

The hotel was just lovely. The personnel all were very helpful. I loved the fact that the animals were visible on the campus grounds. Even at night when the Hippos came in to graze the hotel staff would take you out to look at the animals if you requested to see them.

During meal time the staff quickly removed any silverware when you finished your meal.

Nice hotel close to the Lake

Nice hotel close to the lake rooms were clean and welcoming and staff were very friendly. You could walk to the lake through very nice gardens which had wildlife wandering about during the day so it was possible to get up close to them. Lake had hippos which were easy to see without going on boat trip all in all a great experience./

We enjoyed our stay. The restaurant staff and food were great. Our room looked nice and was comfortable. We enjoyed the pool, view of the lake, and animals grazing the lawn. The service outside of dining could be improved though. The other staff seemed to be content to do minimum, and not above and beyond like we have come to expect from Kenyan hospitality. Overall, it was a good value for the area, though, and was a good vacation for our family.

Wedding at Lake Naivasha Country club

I had my wedding at the grounds. The most disappointing thing was that the grass was not well manicured as stated. Unfortunately I do not live in Kenya and had no opportunity to inspect the grounds.
The staff were however excellent. We had many guests staying there and everyone was impressed by the staff.
The management were also helpful towards our wedding planning and on the day itself. Although with some issues it took a lot of discussions and escalations, it all worked out very well in the end.

Not a five star hotel!

I found the behavior of the security guards to be somewhat unprofessional. I do not believe it is appropriate to have a guard begging me for money to put his daughter through school.

Also, there was hippo dung left on the sidewalk for many days. This kind of thing should not be happening.

Hotel is not worth 5 stars as quoted in Expedia

The stay was bad. In the site Lake Naivasha Country Club is rated as 5 stars. But it is less than 2 stars. The rooms are too old and not not properly fitted bathrooms. Hot water is always a problem. The food is pathetic and no variety as expected in a 5 star hotel. I would not recommend anyone for this.

A WEEKEND IN NAIVASHA

My business partner and I were looking for somewhere to take our families for a long weekend. Naivasha was ideal since it was close by, we checked it out online and the reviews were great. I have to say the experience was even better. The accommodation was fantastic and the service excellent with options of things to do whether its partying in the nearby Naivasha town or boat riding or just some relaxation. Its also nice for families, the staff were very helpful.

I highly recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing weekend out of town.

Very nice location with lots of green space

We came here with two small children. We wanted to stay close to the lake at a place with lots of place for them to play and run around on. This was certainly fulfilled. The staff was very friendly and helpful all the way through. Our room, an \"executive suite\", was quite crammed, a little dark and somewhat worn down. Overall, we did get what we paid for and would recommend the place to other families with small children.

A great place to relax and watch the wildlife from your front porch or walk along the lake. Facilities definitely need a facelift, especially the pool. But when you get a good sale on it, the place is an amazing experience.

Great location but tired hotel and poor food

Stayed in the supreme/delux room, but even still the bathroom was very tired and dated. Not enough toilet paper which was quite rough too, and not enough free water. The grounds themselves are very pleasant, and there is a trampoline for kids to play on.

The room terrace was nice, especially as if you ask them they will light the wood burner on it too. Some good wildlife to see including fish eagles.

Out of Africa All the Way

This is a delightful hotel with a real out of africa experience. The tents are fantastic, great 4 poster beds, hard wood flooring and right on the lake. The dining room for the tents is far superior to the one at the main lodge. Grounds are beautifully kept, there is a resident wildebeest and a few antelope and other animals.
Please remember you are in Africa. It takes time for the water to heat up. You may need a heater in your tent, but the staff is really trying to make it a good experience. I found it delightful, restful and still made it to Nakuru for safari
