There was horrible mold like smell in the rooms and also in the elevator and in the hall ways.. This property needs upgrade.. The card keys will deactivate every 12 hours.. staff promises for room change and no help.. got headaches due to smell.. it was so bad.

Sadky, the hotel rooms are very run down, shows that there is no ongoing maintenence. This is obvious as we stayed tthere for 2 weeks in 2018 and were so impressed that we decided to stay there again this time. The bathroom, toilet and general fittings are rusted and needsxreplacing, peeling paint, water stains and water leaking ifrom the bathroom after showers. There is no hand towel, tissue box,, only 3 device can be connected to wifi for a room occupied by 3 people.
The sraff went out of thier way to help although they could not do much to fix the real issues, this is something that the hotel management should be looking at.
The first day we checked in the room and bed were filthy but the housekeeping manager was amazing and sorted things out himself and ensured we were happy.....sorry I cannot remember his name, he was lovely.

The breakfast buffet was great, very good spread.
Staff were super accommodating.
Attached to the mall so convenient.
Unfortunately the cost fot the rooms were far more than they are worth so I would not be returning again.

1st impression. No one to greet at arrival. There was only one thin guy who addresses guest by \"yeah, what u want? Bad language and attitude. Shocking. No basic manners. Then the rest is history. The ambience. The staffs carry the same attitude.

In the Room, there is No basic toiletries like dental kit and room slippers and even tissue box provided. When called housekeeping they said rudely its only provided upon request.

In the bathroom, the tap is 30cm above the sink which is plate shaped which causes water to splash on us whenever we try to wash hands. Never seen such a design in any hotels we stayed so far.

Breakfast - most importantly guests must understand that this hotel is a vegetarian hotel. There is not even egg provided during breakfast. Very limited bfast options.

I would never recommend anyone to tbis hotel.

First of all the breakfast is very helpful. You can just come down and have the breakfast without stepping out and wanting to figure out where to go. So, you might want to buy the breakfast package.
The rooms are comfortable and clean. There was construction going on in the area when I was there, but nothing within the hotel.
Also, the hotel is attached to a mall, so you can just walk to the mall to get your lunch. I was working remotely so this helped me immensely. There are always autos or tuk-tuks waiting outside the hotel for travel, if you need.

E Hotel is excellent

This is the 1st time to India for both me and my wife.
Staff at E Hotel Chennai were very friendly and helpful. I would like to make a special mention of Assistant Security Officer Mr R. Arumugam. The credit on my mobile ran out while on a very important call, and it cutout. Mr Arumugam was kind enough to give me his personal mobile to make my call.

Not only that, I also made a booking for a taxi i found online and told the taxi service we're a group of 4 people plus 8 luggages for a trip from E Hotel to international airport but the taxi company wrongly sent me a small hatchback with a small boot. Even though this taxi company had no affiliation with E Hotel nor Mr Arumugam whatsoever, nevertheless Mr Arumugam still spoke to the manager of the taxi company on our behalf to fix this big mistake this independent taxi company made. As a result, finally the taxi company admitted their fault and arranged 2nd taxi at no extra charge, thanks to Mr Arumugam's help. Mr Arumugam went well above and beyond the call of duty to assist us.
Also thank you to E Hotel staff Kiran and Soiman for your assistance during our stay.

All was perfect accept the checking out hours. It would be 100% awesome if the hotel allowed 24hrs check out as most tourists would take the night flight back to their home country. I had to pay 1 day's extra charge to check out at 11pm. This makes me think twice about booking E-hotel in future.

Comfy, if you're visiting the US Visa consulate. I got a room in the 8th floor. There is a mall attached, so there's nothing to worry about food. Opt-in to their breakfast option. It's worth it. You can leave your luggage behind till the end of the day if you've to check-out early but still need to be in the city.

Extremely friendly and Great staff, especially Lavanya, Solomon and the travel desk guy. Rooms are good but shows signs of aging. No iron facility. That’s probably the only drawback I could find. They allowed me an early check in and a few free print outs.

Great Hotel and Staff, My First Choice in Chennai

This is not my first time at E Hotel and it certainly won't be the last. I love this cozy, modern hotel. The food is sooooo good! I am a vegetarian so their menu is perfect for me. Location wise, one couldn't ask for anything more. You are so close to everything and within the mall itself, so you can find everything to suit your whim.
The staff is always very friendly and professional, and certainly willing to help. The beds are very comfortable and the room is perfectly clean and the right size. Only thing is that the night I arrived there was no hot water but I was so tired, I didn't even let them know. The next morning everything was working perfectly.
I am definitely coming back very soon!

A pleasant hotel

It was a pleasant stay, for the time we spent in the room. Definitely worth staying in, if one has to spend a night at a hotel in Chennai. Reception was kind enough to check us in a couple of hrs prior to the standard check in time, something I was not aware of prior landing at the hotel.

Hi Everyone, I would like to tell you about this hotel. Be very careful with your credit card as this hotel may charge less while checking out and later will call you for the balance amount. While you are busy with some other work, they will simply swipe your card with card details that you have provided when check in. They were not even bothered to swipe my card without permission and sent me a mail that they have swiped the card for Rs.4000.

Please don't book this hotel at all.

Excellent place to stay!!

I stayed here for just a day. The rooms were excellent! The staff were very well mannered. I dint have a chance to eat at the restaurant because it was vegetarian and I wanted to have non vegetarian. Since the hotel is attached to a mall I ate at the food court in the mall.
I would definitely recommend this place.

Nice hotel to stay at shopping area

The hotel interior is really modern and spacious. Its strategic location added value for the money. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. In fact they even help us to get movie ticket as we are rushing with our busy schedule. The best of the hotel is its attached to a new shopping mall where you can get A-Z and you don't need to spend money on transport or worried to shop till late night. Definitely will visit this hotel again.

Check in - Difficult to find the hotel at night, since the mall is closed. But otherwise check in was a breeze.
Room - Cozy and modern design (though weird combination of colors), the bathroom was small, the bathroom mirror could have used more lighting (excellent shower though)
WiFi - Free with my package and pretty fast
Food - Vegetarian only, but very good b.fast, lunch and dinner buffet spread (very economic for u.s standards - 10-20 $, but on the higher end for indian standards).
Decor and hotel environment - An attempt to appear modern, but on occasions decor looks cheap. The hotel environment and people who were there, seemed to be on some business trip
Location - Have a mall attached to it which is pretty good. It is close to central area of chennai such as gemini flyover and will be appropriate for people close to the center of chennai.
Warning - The Hotel's taxi rate is very high, instead call for a taxi. You could save > 4 times the cost.

Good place to stay one time or multiple times

They fail to give us a queen bedroom and instead gave us a twin bedroom when we have provided the details of the request upfront (at least one month ahead) to them. We checked in late about 7.00 in the evening to the hotel and were made to wait another 10 or so minutes to get the room we wanted. I don't know if some sort of favoritism is in practice to their prefered guest as this also happened during our previous stay there.
The room on the other hand can be seen going through it's wear and tear period, especially the bathroom and the bed. If you are looking for a hard bed for a good night sleep, I would suggest that you personally check the condition of the bed (we find it too soft for a comfortable sleep).
The young and energetic hotel staffs on the other hand are as prompt and courteous as ever. The Entree vegetarian buffet spread is still one of the best in Chennai, as is also the price. As the owners of the business are still doing an hands supervision (which is highly commendable and which most of the business owners needs to do)the hotel seems to be functioning without any of the staff politics.
Overall, it is still one of the best 3 to 4 star hotels to stay in Chennai.

Centrally located in Chennai. Rooms comfortable but small issues like only towel hook (one) located within an enclosed shower stall, annoying. Lobby and bar quite loud. Nightly DJ in hotel lobby during dinner made dining in the open, adjacent restaurant unpleasant. Front desk staff is earnest but young and could benefit from more service training. Security through room cards that allow access only to the floor where one's room is located, however this was not explained at check in.

Just a few minor annoyances such as only 2 towels in our room booked for 3 people and an overly pushy baggage porter who pretty much ripped our bags from our hands and then kept following us around until we had gotten change from the desk for a tip.

E-Hotel is the best hotel in chennai.

had a wonderful stay. my first visit was in sep 2014 and was so pleasant I went again in nov 2014. this time it was even better. staff were even more polite and service was really very very excellent. all the staff were so friendly and made us feel so at home. kudos to balamurugan, solomon, prithivi and ALL the staff. The hotel is located at the city center with easy access to both the train station and the airport. Additionally, it is located close to the local metro line as well as the business district. The rooms are clean and spacious with service quality as good as one can expect. I would recommend this to travelers who are looking for a comfortable stay at affordable costs.

Mall-e-ficient....

Chose the hotel due to it's attachment to a mall and it's central location. From time of check-in to time of check-out a few days later, the hotel staff were extremely pleasant to deal with. The room was clean and sustained clean through the stay every other day. Linen was fresh and soft, not stiff. Pillows and bed were wonderfully adaptive to body thus resulting in relaxed sleep. What food we ordered from the restaurant inside the hotel was over-priced but sufficiently tasty and filling. We tended to explore our taste buds using alternative local eateries and bring back to-go packs late night if we were in the mood for a last minute snack before sleeping. The mall has a nice enough set of restaurants on the 3rd floor as well as a theater - even got a movie in during our stay.

Would recommend the hotel.

This hotel exceeded my expectations, especially the room and the hotel design/overall modern image.
I had read some good and some bad ratings on the internet, and I thought the location in a mall would be annoying (I hate shopping malls). But it proved to be a really nice place to stay, and I didn't mind the proximity of the mall. I'd recommend this hotel to everyone.

One comment about making the booking through Expedia:
Our reservation had not been registered in their system, and they said this sometimes happened with Expedia... They handled it professionally, and we were given a room without any hazzle.
