We liked this hotel especially because of the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. It is a safe area, but please be careful with pickpockets, they are a plague. The entrance to the hotel is very hidden and I would recommend that they improve the lobby and the stairs, as well as putting a refrigerator in the room, in summer it is really necessary. The breakfast is very good: delicious, varied and abundant. The staff was very kind and helpful. We stayed 3 nights and I really recommend it because, in addition to what I already said, it is close to everything that should be seen.

There as a spooky skinny alley to get to the door that you enter into…. Unique. Room was great! Stairs lit up as you dcend but shut off to soon. I thought it as closer to the train station. A bit f a hike in other luggage.

Cheap and cheerful in Venice

No thrills hotel in the centre of Venice for £50 a night; No complaints. Could do with stronger air conditioning but other than that it acts as a decent base for seeing the city. Breakfast was pretty good with plenty of choice. Pleasant stay.

Lovely hotel in Marcuola, an excellent neighbourhood from which to explore Venice. Service was super, including speedy and accurate communications by email before the trip. Seriously: the best level of English and helpfulness ever.

The room was in a separate building, and it was large enough for 3 adults and a teenager. The view was gorgeous and the decor was pleasing.

Breakfast was nice, and the shower was great. I saw some reviewers complaining about mould - mate, it’s Venice! Sometimes it smells. We had absolutely no smell trouble, as the fortnight before our trip was dry and sunny, but I am sure a few days’ rain and it would have been smelly. That’s how it is.

You can get to the hotel from Piazzale Roma using the water bus number 1 or 2 (get out at S Marcuola, it’s 4 stops). Then it’s a 5 min walk up a couple of bridges.

Be careful with a few logistics: when we checked in we were given a what’s app number to ring or message at any time as reception is 24hs. But the number was incorrect. You may want to check it when you arrive.

There was a very noisy heater in the room (the central system). Like a fridge that is incredibly loud. They said it’s been recently fixed - but clearly needs fixing again. You may want to check it if you stay in Casanova.

Apart from these tiny things, a perfect place. Price was quite good too!

Brilliant hotel!

When looking this was at the cheaper end of options so I didn’t have any expectations however the room was beautiful - it looked newly decorated compared with the pictures and was much bigger than I was expecting. The bathroom was modern and we had a large balcony that overlooked the canal. We only had breakfast once however it had everything you would expect from continental. We were concerned about the reviews saying there was another entrance, however it was just the other side of the hotel and had keycard entry and a number of rooms within. We walked from P.de Roma and for some reason google maps took us to the wrong location however Apple maps seemed to work (it was another 10 mins walk down the road). Great location and we actually ended walking to most places.

Had a great view of the canal, however the room was not very cleanly or updated. Found multiple hairs/stains in our bedding, as well as crumbs on the floor upon entering the room. Our room also did not appear like the pictures we were shown when we booked it. There was no air conditioning in the room, which would have been fine except when we had the windows open the mosquitos would come in and bite us, so screens should be added. Finally, the toilet always made a gurgling noise after we used it which was cause for concern. The staff was extremely friendly.

Hotel Tintoretto - great place

Great area, right on Stada Nove - the main street that runs through the area. Hotel staff was very helpful and articulate about everything we needed to know. Our room was not in the same building as the hotel office. After checking in, one of the staff led us across the street and down the block. Our room overlooked the main street, with windows and shutters that opened. The room was small, but it was very clean, with a nice bathroom. The mattress was not the thick mattress with foam, etc, that us Americans are used to. It was a thin mattress on a wood frame, but it was comfortable. We were happy with every aspect of staying there, however. Pros - clean, good neighborhood, good staff. Cons - Small room, refrigerator did not work, thin mattress. When we go back to Venice, we will stay at the same hotel.

Someone needs to take bleach to this place

Gross and disappointing. Not romantic at all. Pictures of this place are misleading as the room was actually in another building down an alley across the street. Dingy moldy carpet and celings. Helpful and kind from desk which was the only plus I can think of for this place. Extremely hot rooms. Two hard uncomfortable twin beds on a frame with two flat pillows and calling it a double bed. Hideously uncomfortable and be ready to fall in the crack. Tiniest shower weve ever seen in a european hotel for this price range and we have stayed in close to 15 at this point always in this price range or cheaper never one this bad. Whole facility looked stained and dingy and felt very unclean black moldy cords in shower and on ceilings. No toiletries and only two full sized towels. Skimping on every turn. Very low quality hotel for the price I would not stay here and definitely not if you are looking for a romantic place!! The location isnt even that great its far from the grand canal and all the major sites so really no reason to stay here except for the staff which could probably be found elsewhere.

The hotel is run very efficiently and is a good value for the price. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly. Will-if is spotty but I don’t expect it to be great in Venice. Three hundred year old buildings with 2 four thick walls does not meld well with wi-go.

Good location but felt a little down at heel

This is a small - you could say cramped - hotel in a quaint but dilapidated building. Quite close to S Lucia station, it's conveniently placed. Our room was actually two small rooms knocked into one, with a nice little bathroom. Overlooking a canal, it was pretty, if a bit smelly (not the fault of the hotel, obviously!)
There was some \"technical\" problem with the breakfast room space on our 2nd morning which meant that breakfast was brought to the room, 45 minutes before the time requested. The resulting confusion, combined with their refusal to take payment of tourist tax by card, because of the cost to them, gave us an impression of a business that was only \"just about managing\".

Manager should spend a night sleeping in each bed

In the past I was employed by a 5 Star hotel chain - one of our driving questions was, \"Would you be proud to have your loved ones stay in every room of your property?\" I would shun to think that the owners and/or the employees of the Hotel Tintoretto would be proud to sleep on the bed that was in our room. The management should be hyper-aware of the condition of the furniture in their rooms. I am well aware of the parameters of a 3 Star hotels and do not expect 5 star amenities out of a 3 star property, however, the bedding was not even on par to receive \"Hostel\" status. Most employees were perfunctory, the hotel is very clean and is in a great location.

Venice was marvellous and there was not very much in the way of queuing which made everything much easier to fit into the couple of days we had there. The hotel was OK but nothing special and its a bit disappointing that you can't just have a drink in the hotel restaurant without food.

Well worth the stay!!

Had a terrific time here.......very quaint and just as we thought Venice would be. Gabriella and Luchia were wonderful to deal with, very helpful, and gave terrific places for us to discover. Only wish it had an elevator but that really didn't matter at all. Very centrally located on the island and had a blast!!

Hotel closed to trail station

The hotel is very cleaning but the staff is not amable. I arrive at 11:30 pm and the staff say me that if i dont have the confirmation number in hard copy he dont give me the room, really? After 25 minutes the staff give the keys but not amable. The breakfast is too much early 8 am at 9:30 am.

Suitable for a short stay

The hotel was difficult to find as the entrance was hidden down an alley behind street vendors. If you arrive from the train station you need to cross one large bridge and two smaller bridges. It is the second street after the third bridge. The room was small but clean. There is no lift access and the stairs are narrow. Breakfast was very plain but adequate. It is in a good location.

En suite room was v. narrow 'corridor style' room 1.5m x 3.5m. 'row of ' toilet, bidet, wash basin & shower cubicle. Screwed 'wall mounted' soap basket badly sited...in the way!!!
Breakfast provision was contracted out to restaurant next door. Menu provision was good but
crammed room. Dining area too small to provide furniture seating for total guest numbers.
Expensive room charges!. As our return flights were 4days apart, Tue - ..'FRI..'. accomm necessary.
i.e.'Catch 22 RIP- OFF COST ' a) rate Tue,Wed,Thu £73pn..b) Fri £133!!!! ouch!!!! not justifiable.
No usual kettle in room for complimentary coffee/tea during stay in THREE STAR??? but
'room fridge' stocked with bottles of house aclohol and water....payment at check out!
Only water provision was wash basin tap with 2 disposable plastic containers.
Just ' one ' upright chair,( under dressing table), in 'Double' room ( twin beds shoved together).
T.V. hardly in use/needed but ONE ENGLISH NEWS CHANNEL would have been appreciated!!!

The room was VERY small (6.5'X12.5'). This would have been OK had it been noted in advance and one could chose to stay there or not, but the photos were more staged than most hotel photos- Nothing showed how small the room was. We arrived later in the evening and were quickly escorted across the street to a narrow alley and then up to our room- not in the main hotel. Also, the room smelled of mold and there was obvious mold in the bathroom. For the rate paid I would not recommend this hotel in Venice. Fortunately we were only there two nights.

Stuff was still in the toilet, the plastic cups in our bathroom were rinsed out and rewrapped, there was a used bar of soap still in the soap dish, a bottle of water that was almost gone was sitting on our desk next to the tip for the maid, and the sheets were all wrinkled and had hair throughout. Great Location

Really good value for central Venice. Our room was in a separate building down a side street around the corner from the check in desk, but it was safe and private and clean. The size of the room was cozy/cramped depending how you look at it, but was really nice for a couples weekend. When I booked t was only $10 more per night for the larger room, and I would if I stayed here again.

Tintoretto Overpriced

Hotel Tintoretto is in a very old building in an alley off vaporetto stop Ca d'Oro. Staff not too friendly or helpful. Big, clean double room, no elevator, many stairs, very overpriced because of age & condition of room. Small shower. I asked for a chair to put in front of the desk & was ignored for our two-day stay. No free wi-fi. Breakfast was just OK. Ask for a single to save $$.

Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and the smell of freshly baked coissants (cornetto's) every morning was the best alarm clock the hotel could offer. I would definetly stay here again.

It is late July the temperature outside is 33 Centigrade and the air conditioner does not work at all. To add to my discomfort right outside the window of my room is a large metal enclosure housing machinery that makes constant noise from 11 am to 11 pm. If you want a quiet rest after your afternoon walk you have to close the window and suffer extreme heat so no rest was possible because the room air conditioner is not working.

I informed the Hotel manager of this problem who explained the air conditioner is controlled by her desktop computer and there must be some kind of a fault with it.
I was told not to worry it will be repaired. Unfortunately for me no repair was made so I had very little sleep as night time tempurature in the room was about 30 C.

I had to try to sleep on the floor with the window open and the door to my room open (not safe) and get up every 2 hours to go outside to cool down. The carpet in the room is old and never been properly deep cleaned so I ended up with a distressing breathing condition possibly caused by fungal spores.

I tried to find alternative 3 star accomodation with no success if I wanted to be within the historical area called Venice. I gave up asking the manager to fix the problem as it became painfully obvious nothing good will happen.

This hotel has given me a very bad experience which I would not wish others to suffer.

From student's perspective...

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Was perfect for us - lively street but quiet hotel, small but very clean and had all the essentials. Good if you're going to be out exploring all day. Air conditioning was a Godsend! 30 minute walk from St Mark's Square (if you know where you're going!) I'd happily stay here again, budget or no budget.

Great little place!

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011. It was the cheapest place I could find which looked decent, and we were not disappointed when we arrived. We got the vaporetto to Fondamente Nove and walked from there through the streets which was lovely. We found it after not too long whilst exploring the surrounding streets. Our room overlooked a canal, and had a nice clean bathroom (most of the rooms I saw of a similar price did not have this added bonus!). The beds were comfy enough, but you're not really in Venice to spend time in your room! Breakfast was basic, but sufficient, and the hotel is on a nice tourist street with loads of restaurants and shops (it also has its own restaurant at night which was nice). Don't worry about not being RIGHT next to all the tourist sites- San Marco is maximum a 15 minute walk and you get to know Venice better from walking around!
All in all a great little place with helpful staff and in a fantastic location!

We found this hotel to be very unfriendly & we didn't receive a warm welcome at all. Very rude very unhelpful would not reccomend staying here. Our air-conditioning in the room was broke reported this at reception to which we was then offered a fan, I was under the impression that they knew the air-con was not working before we arrived & no attempt was made while we where there to fix it, so we spent 4 nights in what felt like a hot oven & as a result did not get much sleep. I am in the process of trying to claim money back as I payed for a service I did not receive. As I booked through Hotels.com the hotel would not reinburst me & told me to claim it back from Expedia Travel. Another thing they did when we checked in was keep our passports which were left in a pigeon hole behind the desk that any one could just reach over & take. The Hotel put a dampner on our holiday because we just didn't want to stay there we were made to fell like an incovenience not a paying guest.

Great Venice Location

Hotel Tintoretto is in a great location. It is approximately 10 minutes from the Rialto Bridge and 20 minutes from Piazza San Marco. The Hotel was easy to find as there were signs on the street. I arrived in Venice by train and I used Vaporetto #1 to reach the hotel without any problems.

The hotel was listed as 4 star on the hotels.com website, and it is certainly 3 stars as the hotel claims, or lower. It is very small with minimum services (no lift, no free wifi). The bonus was the air conditioning, in-room safe and included breakfast.

For the price, this was an excellent Venetian hotel.

Hotel Tintoretto

Tintoretto is in a great central location and we could walk to any area to shop or sightsee along the way. Considering it is the oldest hotel we have ever stayed in, the room was modern, clean and cozy. Our room looked out over the street and we really enjoyed watching and listening to everyone passing by. Every morning we enjoyed a wonderful european breakfast.

Hotel unique. First sight a bit off-putting but after settling in - like living in real old Venice. Location good and some nice resturants around. Free breakfast not very exciting. No lift so suitcases to 3rd floor a problem. Room smelled quite badly in afternoon (of sewerage) but disappeared as night came?? Other than no lift and smell that went - clean and comfortable - room overlooking river. Room was nice and warm at night (chilly spring) but would be uncomfortable in summer if air-con not working. Not for someone looking for classy modern-looking hotel but as Venice is unique - so is this hotel as the outside looks part of history.

Beware of \"Billy\" at the front desk. It appears he assigns your room on a whim, not by your prepaid order and when questioned, gets nasty. This room was double the cost of the other 4 hotels on our trip to Italy. Billy was slow and careless with our passports, leaving them in an open mail slot behind the desk and forgetting which passport belonged to the correct person. A \"French Double Room\" means a twin bed for 2 people in a room measuring 7' x 14' with a 4' x 5' bathroom - and the housekeeper leaves one set of towels proving 2 people aren't normally assigned this room. Though the room appeared clean, it reeked of sewage and was worse after the room was cleaned - this is not normal. The rooms are separate from the hotel restaurant...the staff walk you across the street and down 2 alleys to a single door. Walking 2 blocks isn't convenient for the \"free breakfast\". You cannot call the front desk from your room without dialing a local number. Though the location was ok, I do not recommend this hotel. There were also 3-5 cruise ships in port on most days making travel and sightseeing impossible.

Helpful in confusing city

Hotel is not known by name, so it was difficult to ask residents how to find it. If you walk from the station (Venezia-Santa Lucia) on the main roads, Hotel Tintoretto is visible on the left. They played the soccer games at the restaurant, which is attached to and part of the hotel. Restaurant was decently priced-better than some but not suitable for those with a strict budget. Breakfast was included with the cost of the hotel, and it was a good continental self-service breakfast. Staff was knowledgeable. Spoke English well and gave good directions on how find things. Key card system was sort of confusing. You have to insert key card in room to keep the air conditioning running. Wake up call was a bit unreliable because it was self-maintained via phone.

Hotel staff was very accommodating; we enjoyed our stay here. Continental breakfast was better than average and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Very Italian feel to it well located

A little hard to find at first but fun to look for 10 mins from the Rialto Bridge we stayed in the other part of the hotel a stones throw away and breakfast was enjoyable by the canal good coffee and efficient staff

Nothing at all, small rooms without elevator, i went to ask a question to the front desk and and she didn't recognize me, I work in a hotel and for us it is a priority to recognize the guest, that shows professionalism, the truth is that I don't recommend it.

Le personnel de l'hôtel Tintoretto a été d'une rare serviabilité avec une très grande disponibilité et je pourrais retourner dans cet hôtel à cause de leur gentillesse! Mais les petits déjeuners n'étaient pas très bons ( fromage, jambon ne faisaient guère envie).

Trop bas de gamme pour un 3 etoiles

Hôtel très très moyen. Les dépendances ne sont pas à côté de l hôtel mais dans une petite rue à 1 min de l'hôtel. La chambre sentait la pizza et kebab du dessous. Confort tres relatif. Petit déjeuner non varié avec des produits très bon marché (par exemple la confiture est en bidon).

Se si pretende di andare a Venezia e avere degli spazi enormi in camera bisogna andare dai 4 alle 5 stelle, tutto sommato l'albergo non è male, gentili all'accoglienza, prima colazione abbastanza fornita, le camere pulite ma un po' piccole, d'altronde chi va a Venezia va a visitare la città, non si sta in camera, quindi il necessario c'era ed era tutto ok.....
