I liked the location in a quiet area of the city on a lightly trafficked main road. A 10 minute walk to the centre of Christchurch, 3-5 minutes to several restaurants and, though it’s not my thing, a stone’s throw from the casino. The couple who own/operate the motel were very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Nicely appointed clean and spacious unit with kitchenette and high water pressure shower helped make my stay very enjoyable.

Extremely noisy location. Between traffic noise and the casino I think I got 3 hours of sleep. The casino feels that 5 am is the time to smooth their gravel parking lot. So imagine someone driving a diesel truck, dragging a metal pan over the gravel, for an hour and you hear it with all the windows closed and curtains drawn

The room was cosy and clean. Several food outlets are closed by. The staff was incredible helpful by leaving the laundry open for an extra 15 hours so I could wash and dry my cloth. If you arrive at the train station be aware of Vega taxis. An Indian driver did not use the meter and overcharged us. One of the Focus staff members kindly took us to the airport on Sunday morning for a reasonable and fixed price. It was very much appreciated after my bad experience with the Vega driver. Thank you.

What a gem of a hotel. Stayed for two nights, short walk to main shops, eateries, casino on your doorstep but you wouldn’t know it (no noise). Room had a kitchenette, separate bath and shower. The bath was a spa bath, modern, clean, awesome after a long day walking, sightseeing! Lady who runs the place was awesome. Staff pleasant. Car parking was easy and secure, gate closed at night.
