FABULOUS HOTEL

The hotel is amazing ! We took the junior suite and was better than expected. The room was specious, clean and a jacuzzi too. We had the view on the pool which was great. The staff , the manager was super lovely...alway there to please you...and we had a good laugh with the 2 gents at the bar 😉 thank you. The food was also very very nice. I highly recommend that hotel you will not be disappointed....

Very large comfortable rooms with great view over river. Nice pool. Good restaurant. Buffet dinner a little expensive and don’t agree with service charge added to breakfast or dinner buffet when it is basically self service! However plenty of a la carte options including excellent fish curry. Free bikes available for use.

This is the best hotel in Trincomalee. The staff are the loveliest, kindest staff, and they made our time there feel like home. The food is a choice of traditional Sri Lankan food as well as European/US, but they even made us egg hoppers on request.... Its that we're not on the menu. So I cannot praise them highly enough.
We will return here.

We got a friendly greeting when we arrived and drinks brought to us on Reception. All staff are very friendly. The room was beautiful and very spacious. We had a junior suite and it was the best room I’ve ever stayed in.
We were able to add room service and meals to our bill to pay by card when we checked out. There are ATM’s nearby if you want to get some cash.
We gave tips at the end of our stay. It was helpful that the documentation from the hotel states that charges include a service charge so you aren’t expected to tip as you go along every day.
There was a decent choice of room service meals, drinks and desserts available and these seemed to be available any time. They were reasonably priced - like UK prices but more than normal Sri Lanka prices. We just paid for room only as we thought we would be out and about a lot. We tried breakfast once at the hotel and it was alright. We had dinner once which again was alright. Room service meals were good. My daughter loved the milkshake and brownies.
I would recommend getting a local SIM card from a small shop near the hotel. I got a ‘Hutch’ SIM card. I was surprised that the shop staff need to take a photo of your passport when you buy one.
We could then access Google Maps and find attractions, etc nearby.

The hotel was great with friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. You can walk to the beach in 5 mins. There are lots of stray dogs around but all seem friendly. The pool is nice at the hotel too. We loved it all!

Hotel is in desperate need of renovation. Many things in room broken or not working, e.g. kettle leaking, plugs not working, door handle of bathroom door almost falling off. Housekeeping standards well below expectation, amenities not replenished, e.g. shower gel, tissues, toilet paper. No visible management around the hotel.

The hotel staff were kind and attentive throughout our short stay. The room was clean and well appointed, and the view over the river was pleasant and a little different compared to more traditional sea views.

I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in an above average hotel in Trincomalee.

The only downside, as with many hotels in the area, is the direct surroundings are not so pleasant. Access to the hotel is made down a pot-holed dirt track. A tuk tuk or bicycle is necessary to make any excursions (but the hotel provide bikes for free, or more modern ones for a small charge)

Nicest of staff and serivce. Very relaxing spot.

Just the nicest and happiest of staff. We felt very welcomed. The room was comfy, a quiet spot on the river. Bed sheets and pillows were so soft. Had the place to ourselves due to low season, but i woule recommend anyone to come here at this time also. Weather and sun still great in the daytime.
Would recommend the place to anyone and we are looking forward to returning one day.

What an amazing place to stay! I stayed here for four nights as a solo traveller and really enjoyed it. The hotel is stunning! The pool was perfect to lounge and relax by, complete with a bar with attentive servers. The rooms were beautiful, clean and spacious. I highly recommend getting one with the Jacuzzi tub overlooking the lagoon. The. Location was also great, the beach a mere 5 minute walk with several restaurants close by. I ate most meals at the hotel, and they were all wonderful, especially the local dishes. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They went above and beyond with friendliness and making sure your every need was met. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Trincomalee, I am already looking forward to staying here again!

I would stay again if in the area.

Really nice place to stay ran but really friendly people. We paid for an upgrade on arrival which was a nice thing to do although with it being out of session, and the hotel being quite some hotels would have done this automatically without charge.

The cleanliness was of a good standard although the general condition is in need of some attention. On check in they offered a turn down service which didn’t happen, the rooms were cleaned quite late in the day so maybe they were short staffed.

The pool was cloudy which is normally due to a filter issue or the wrong amount of chemicals. I told them and the next day it was a little better but not great, a couple of other guests mentioned this to me while around the pool. The room could do with a fresh lick of paint. Some little cherub had done some drawings on the wall and left some greasy prints.

Apart from these minor things the place is great for a couple of days.

Bar area off putting with waiters playing really loud aweful music so we chose not to spend too much time there...breakfast good and room comfortable.
Ordered dinner one night and had to return as was cold...they were apologetic said a trainee had sent it out...really nice setting ...

There is no beach but muddy lagoon.

I am a bit disappointed at this hotel. The hotel’s room is a bit dated. It looked better on the website than the reality. There is no such view from the lagoon but muddy field. In the night time from my room, I could hear the music playing so loud from their nightclub. Breakfast is just ok. Nothing is special. The first morning, I woke up from some construction noise above my room. Maybe they should have done it a bit later and did not disturb their guest such an early hour.

Great pool, beach, spa, buffet and view!

We spent a week at Amaranthe Bay and had the most relaxing time. The staff were really welcoming and accommodating and the place seemed to have more to offer than nearby resorts. It’s only a 5 minute walk to stunning calm beaches, but they provide a boat service if you prefer. The benefit of being off the resort strip is an amazing view of the lagoon from the pool, your balcony and your private spa (one of the best tubs we have been in!). The breakfast buffet is also amazing, we enjoyed fresh hoppers and both Sri Lankan and western breakfasts everyday. We also recommend the 4 course set menu for dinner, with delicious fresh fish and gigantic prawns. We ended up enjoying the resort so much we didn’t travel far afield but other people told us they saw lots of dolphins and whales on the boat trips. It really was a wonderful place to stay at a great price too.

Lovely and comfortable stay

We booked for 4 nights but liked it so much that we stayed for 3 more. Room great, jacuzzi overlooking the pool. Pool nice and clean. Good value trips to pigeon island and for whale watching. Free use of kayaks. Breakfast really nice.

Good hotel,with water front aspect

We stayed for almost a month. Very attentive staff who went out of their way to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. We used the sailing facilities to the beach several times including the Canadian canoe. We also did some bird watching from our sunbeds - it was in an area of migrant seabirds, many of which were unusual to see.

What a disappointment!. Wrong information about the hotel. Bathroom is so bad. Has heavy door . No air circulation. Smell very bad. The temperature inside the bathroom is very high. After eating dinner at the hotel restaurant both my daughter and I got sick and slept all day . The only positive thing is staff is very nice. Everybody tried their best. Overall the trip to Tincomalee was a disaster.
The lobby is fantastic.

Amaranthe bay is an absolutely beautiful hotel in a gorgeous yet convenient location. The staff are so helpful and can never do enough for you always on hand. The rooms were spotless as were the gardens and pool area. I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend this to anyone

Nice hotel in trincomalee

Had a great stay at Amaranthe Bay. Staff are amazing. Only downside is limited options for food (but food is very tasty) and no direct access to the beach. However, everything else in the hotel will make you forget any downside. It's beautiful inside the hotel and the executive rooms are brilliant with a balcony and a jacuzzi. just be weary of shops that sell jewellery and clothes outside the hotel, do your research before you buy anything.
