Friendly staff with overzealous security. The hotel security is keen to keep the other visitors away but can’t talk in English which led to our child being harassed as he couldn’t speak the local language. Complained to the duty manager who was very apologetic. Security staff need more training so that they don’t harass the hotel guests. Feel that management needs to take responsibility for this situation as staff are simply following instructions.

We stayed for one night. We never used the restaurant but there were great options a short walk from the hotel. The hotel itself was very safe and secure and clean. Our only complaint was that we had no hot water in our shower

Rooms were clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom. Dining buffets were diverse and the staff were excellent and hospitable. Beach acces was spectacular. The pool was good but a little to shallow for me. The one thing put me a little off was that they provide driver accommodation but the driver accommodation was poor at best. My driver reported the A/C had been removed and the fans were sub par that they had to put buckets of cool water to keep the room cool enough to sleep. In the heat of Sri Lanka, I would not have put my driver in such accommodation.

Located on beautiful white sandy beaches and nice gardens. Hotel is vwry open so that means constant insects, who are more annoying than anything else.

There is no air conditioning in any of the public places. At least one venue needs to be air conditioned, the weather was extremely hot and earing outdoors was very uncomfortable.

The hotel also needs some night time atmosphere like music, band etc. All. Ery quite and dull.

Hotel in time will need modernising, starting to get dated.

Welcome was good. Room was good. Staff a bit slow as per most of the Cinnamon hotels we have visited.
Pool area was nice.
Such a shame about the beach. Plastic and glass all the way along the beach, which ever way you turned.
We didn't venture onto the sea because of this.
Buffet was a bit limited and as per usual, the western food wasn't that great.
We did find a good bar on the beach called Fernando's and a good restaurant called Cafe on the 18th. Great salads and other dishes.
Service was really good and friendly at both.

Great stay, we got upgraded which was brilliant, room was spacious and had all the nice amenities you would expect, had a lovely balcony with sea view. Few dead bugs in the room but didn’t put us off.

Ravi looked after our bags after we checked out and went snorkelling, he even remembered us when we came back! Excellent service.

Comfortable bed and bathrobe a plus, but maybe because the low tourism, the breakfast looks poor, the first day I arrived 20 rescue trainees were using the pool, so we were unable to get in the pool. However, staffs are always fulfilling your needs, specially mentioning the pool man, always smiley delivering pool towels, ate 3xs dinner a la carte, they do prepare with effort.

Be careful. Great overall stay but if you use Hotels.com the hotel will try to add the comission hotels.com charge the hotel. This ruined our check out and meant we were 2 hours late to Kandy.

The hotel needs a paint outside and some path from the rooms to the main hotel.

To be fair, we took a whale watching trip and the lad that took us out was good and we saw some amazing whales.

The stay was amazing. The food was excellent and really worth it. The best seafood ever for a reasonable price at The Crab restaurant. Good and friendly staff. Mr. Sajith and others from the Crab restaurant was very friendly. Celebrated my birthday here and thank you very much for all the staff who gave a great service. There was not a single reason to be worried of. Probably the best sea all around Sri Lanka. Shallow and clear waters. Would visit soon once again.

Three years ago this hotel was a very nice hotel. However the standard has the gradually declining. This is our third trip to TringoBlu and this will be the last one.
The service standards has significantly dropped. The rooms has deteriated. Rooms can be cleaner and the belconey was never cleaned during our four day stay
During checkin, they agreed for a $100 AU upgrade, but charged US$ and refused to fix the issue.

We were upgraded on arrival to a beach view room which was great. The main areas are open plan all overlooking the beach which made for an enjoyable stay. You can easily move between the pool and beach as they are so close. The staff were very friendly and we would come back here to stay without a doubt.

The hotel was well located and had a nice view of the ocean. Staff were ok. Rathnathee was very helpful in check in and check out. Service was great at times as well as poor. Rooms need to be modernised as the furniture was old and everything kept breaking down as soon as you touched it. Breakfast and dinner buffet needs to be more value for money. Not many activities to do straight through the hotel as the staff were not sure what they offered.

The best hotel in Trincomalee - right on the beach

The hotel is situated on a beautifully clean and pretty beach. The facilities are simple but clean and well maintained. The staff are particularly friendly and welcoming and made our stay extremely enjoyable. Diving is particularly good in Trincomalee and the on site staff are extremely good especially the snorkeling at Pigeon Island. Although not advertised they also arranged our jeep safari to see the elephant herds in the nearby national park which you should not miss.

Beautiful beach and nice pool. As a family of 6 we enjoyed the pool most of all. It would be lovely if they had interconnecting rooms or rooms for families, but we managed to get two rooms side by side. The breakfast buffet was nice, kids had many things to choose from. We had been travelling a lot so we did decide to stay at the hotel and enjoy the beach and pool. One night we paid extra for the buffet. Not a great selection but enough. Buffet is quite expensive for what you get. The other night we ate at their cafe the crab and we enjoyed that more. Food is pricey here but so is everything unless you go into Trinco town and eat local. Staff are friendly and more than happy to help.
Overall it was a great mini break that the family needed.

Disappointing Cinnamon Hotel.

Trinco Blu is one of the Cinnamon group of hotels. Having stayed at the Grand, Lakeside, Red and Wild, I had high expectations. Perhaps unreasonable expectations!
Positives: Perfect situation right on the beautiful Uppavelli Beach.
Beautiful swimming pool.
Engaging Staff, especially the guys at the pool and one of the maintenance men.
Comfortable bed.
Clean bed linens and towels replaced daily.
Constant hot water in the bathroom.

Negatives: The bedroom and bathroom presented as grubby, with rusting bits of metal around
the shower. Some tiles were cracked and dirty looking.
In the balcony the seating cushion was dirty and the table had bird
poo on it and it was still there after 13days.
While the staff at the bar were very pleasant, there were not enough
staff on shift. So, no barman around mid morning when we wanted a beer. Took
ages to get a pitcher of cocktails at the pre dinner time because the one barman
chose to serve five other orders before dealing with ours. Those five orders were
placed after ours but were easier. More staff....that could have been avoided!
Maintenance crashing and banging from 8.00am. Safe had a faulty keypad.

Staff helpful and friendly. Although room rather small for two, the decor made it look spacious and the view of sea and pool was comforting. Had a daily walk on beach. However, beach need to be kept clean due to rubbish pile up and barking dogs running around. This is an important aspect especially for tourists. Need improvement.
Suggest serving local coffee in addition to Nescafé.

Trinco Blu is a beautiful hotel on an even more beautiful beach. The beach chalet room had direct access to the beach and was very spacious and clean. The staff were very accommodating and polite.

The food at Trinco Blu was overpriced and underwhelming, but the local area doesn't have much else to offer so there isn't much variety. The wifi is free but slow and spotty. The bed was spacious but very hard.

Traditional fishing right at the hotel beach (public beach) so a nice touch, but blocks part of the beach for an hour twice a day.

Worth every penny!

I shopped around a lot before getting this deal. They won't let me mention the rate but it was about the same rate as a hotel on Nilaveli beach but much, much better. Two years ago, we stayed in a hotel opposite pigeon island dive site and had numerous issues with cleanliness and a colony of insects came in to the room after dark which made for a restless night for my daughter. Trinco Blu had no bug problems. Though it's not on the famous Nilaveli beach, its location has other advantages. There are about half a dozen cafes and restaurants within 1 KM of the hotel, so we had dinner out both nights. It was so much cheaper than the hotel dinner buffet and the food was great (pls read reviews on TripAdvisor). The breakfast buffet at Trinco Blu was included in our room rate and was an exceptional value for money. The air conditioning was a plus. Typically, in many beach hotels in Sri Lanka, the air conditioning does not cool well but there was no such problem at Trinco Blu. Their pool is not the biggest but who needs a jumbo pool when the ocean is a few yards away.
Please note that online hotel rates fluctuate a great deal but you can get a great deal if you're patient and if you're traveling during the low season (May-September). I got a very good rate and this hotel was an excellent value for the money I paid.

Very Over-Priced \"3-Star\" Hotel - Do NOT Recommend

VERY OVER-RATED hotel...when we checked in, the receptionist said that the Cinnamon group had purchased this \"5-Star\" hotel...REALLY...hardly 5-Star...The room was closer to 2-3 Star...very outdated, unfinished bathroom...had to have maintenance fix the drain, which took 45 minutes at 2100 hours, etc. I'd hardly recommend this hotel...ever...WAY OVER-PRICED!

Laid back stay in paradise!

Fantastic relaxing stay right on a beautiful beach. Beach chalets the best option in our opinion.LaidThe staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and well presented. Water sport activities rather expensive compared to nearby options. Small lane leading to hotel gives more local options for local eating. Gaga offered good food for a cheaper alternative. Definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return.

We checked into our room and discovered that neither the shower nor the fan worked. So we spent quite a bit of our first night getting both fixed. Then the next day there was a loud private party on the beach from 9 till 12:30 pm, which made it impossible to get a decent night's sleep. After we complained, they did turn the music down a few decibels, but by then it was too late for us to enjoy our stay anymore, especially since they had lied to us and told us the music would only last till eleven.

The buffet dinner was excellent the first night, and rather awful the second evening. No consistency in anything.

They did give us a free cocktail while we were waiting for the party to unwind so we could sleep (PS I always have ear-plugs on hand, but these wouldn't have worked with the loudness of the music blasting all over the property - the place just isn't big enough ) but that didn't keep me from vowing never to return.

Great Hotel, shame about the noise!

This hotel is a perfect stylish mid- range/mid-sized resort. The architecture is very successful in providing that holiday feel, and so is the internal decoration. The staff is always around, ready to help you to relax comfortably.
Unfortunately the charm is broken every evening from around 6pm onwards when a small orchestra starts to play a medley of cheesy tunes. And quite loudly. And you can't escape it since all the rooms open to the grounds where the band plays. And it plays well after all the guests have left the restaurant. Which hardly makes sense.
This noise pollution is becoming more and more frequent in Sri Lanka. And this hotel follows the trend.
Following my complain the management swiftly relocated me in a chalet away from the main buildings after I explained to them this constant evening noise would spoil my stay and I would have to go and stay in an other hotel.

Total relaxation!

Beautiful hotel in Trincomalee. The check in was seemless and staff were extremely helpful. Trinco has some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka and the sea did not dissapoint. The water was warm and ideal for swimming. The only downside was the lack of a fitness room. I have 2 teenages and they like working out before a swim in the sea.

Veey nice off season stay

Very nice off season stay at the hotel in january. However The weather was good without rain at all, a little windy so we had some waves. The hotel staff is very nice and doing everything to make the holiday a memorable time. The food was good aswell. We booked without meals and the prices were really good compared to the neighbour restaurants and the food quality. Furthermore there sea food Restaurant the crab is located very idyllic directly at the beach. Its a quite relaxing atmosphere with decent music all over the public hotel area. We would really recommend this Place and come back

Very poor service for a 5 Star hotel

We stayed for one night. We had to choose between a la carte and buffet menus as a group so that we could sit together over dinner. There were no towels in our rooms and I had to call down 3 times in order to get towels so that I could have a shower. Very disappointing!

Good private beach and swimming pool

The food was fantastic. In the mornings you could walk on the beach and watch the fishermen bring their catch in. It's not a totally empty/quiet beach as there are a small handful of boats and people walking about. There's also a dive shop in the hotel premises if that's your thing.

Good location on the best beach in Trinco

Nice hotel with a nice infrastructure. Could soon do with a bit of refurbishment as deck chairs, cushions and other are somehow worn down.

Very good restaurant and evening buffet. Friendly staff as in most places in Sri Lanka.
