Staff were incredibly professional and responsive. The room was only a 2 minute walk to the beach and was very clean. For meals, we frequently had Manoj as our server, who was very attentive and knowledgeable.

The pool has a very unique jungle theme, and is quite large. Benches around the pool are often taken during busy season.

Highly recommend this resort!

Fantastic retreat/stay, room and amenities were great. Rotating menu for dinner was a nice touch for guests staying more than 1-2 nights. add on trips were fun, but could have stayed in the room the whole time as well.

Lovely stay at Jungle Beach

The main lodge and cabins were stylish, designed and well maintained. The jungle setting on a beach was enchanting. The beach was lovely but the swimming was rough given we were there in the off season. The Sri Lankan food was delicious and the staff were friendly and accomodating.

Amazing resort, wonderfully peaceful and relaxed, beach front cabins where definitely the pick of accommodation. Staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly, resort was very clean.

We absolutely loved our stay but this is not a cheap option, although worth every penny
There is a bit of maintenance required on the roofs of some of the buildings that you would have thought would be kept on top of and the pool was not clear so we chose to swim in the sea in stead.

3 nights at Jungle Beach in March

The hotel is in an amazing tranquil area, the beach is stunning and kept very clean. We had 3 lovely nights here however the dietary requirements weren’t catered to despite filling in a form upon arrival to specify our needs. Definitely make sure to explore the local area. If food is not included in your deal, probably best to venture out of the hotel to get better value for money and a bit more of an original Sri Lankan experience. The breakfast that is included is fenomenal and plentiful. Customer service was a bit of a letdown, possibly due to the language barrier but a shame for the price you’re paying per night. A few of the staff were very friendly but overall we were disappointed.

Beautiful beach villa with the most comfortable bed and pillows. Housekeeping was fantastic and attention to detail amazing. Thimasha on the front reception was incredible. She arranged so many beautiful things for me as a celebrated my birthday there. The chef was skilled at bending to my needs of being vegan. Restaurant staff great too. Everyone from gardeners to therapists in spa were welcoming. An amazing experience staying there at the end of 1 month travelling. I would definitely return and not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. Thank you Uga for amazing memories

The staff and management was excellent. Alll were very courteous and friendly, and always willing to do whatever it took to make our stay at jungle beach the best possible. It’s really hard to mention all of the staff who were so great, but I would like to mention how much we appreciated Janitha. My only suggestion would be to add European/ American cuisine to their menu. Thank you for the wonderful 18 day stay we had at Jungke Beach.

Fantastic place to relax for a few days. Beach villas were superb as was service and attitude all round. Slightly surprised at how European the menu was and that as an eco lodge they used plastic bottles for water in the restaurant whereas they didn’t in the room. Also surprised the water wasn’t free as it often is elsewhere on the island.

Worth every penny, book the beach villa

The most amazing hotel EVER! Because it’s out of season occupancy is around 60% and a hotel that would never feel full is blissfully quite. Our Beach Bungalow is simply Devine and I’d strongly recommend. We generally stay in very comfortable hotels but rarely are the staff so very well trained as to know when to approach and when to stay. So delighted we changed our booking from two night to five and reluctantly moved on.... fantastic

Perfect Escape

Perfectly located along a mostly deserted stretch of beautiful beach on Sri Lanka's East Coast. The property is beautifully designed and offers a peaceful relaxing experience to those seeking to escape the chaos of world for a few days.
The food is top-notch and a good value on the full-board. However, the lack of an indoor, air conditioned dining room coupled with the open-air design of the main hall meant swatting away flies was a frequent, annoying, part of each meal. The the lack of an indoor dining space was the only real negative.
All of the staff is friendly and eager to help. The BAR staff were awesome!
The Oceanfront Room is large and very clean with excellent air conditioning. The mood is definitely geared towards romance/honeymoon set, but my friend and I had a wonderful trip as friends at JB. GO, RELAX :)

We were staying on our honeymoon and everyone was so friendly and welcoming! The setting was stunning on the beach/amid the jungle and the food and in particular the set dinner and breakfast were fantastic! When we arrived we were greeted with special room decorations and a honeymoon cake which was a lovely touch.

The hotel and accomodation itself are faultless and it's the perfect place to spend time on the beach. The spa and excursion to pigeon island are great. However, the service and billing system really need improvement. Every single meal we had in the main restaurant was very slow and we either waited 15mins for our bill, received someone else's bill, or received our order twice. To avoid this, eat in the beach restaurant which has much better service and amazing seafood.

A wonderful place to unwind

The northeast coast of Sri Lanka is markedly different from the other parts of the country that I saw during a recent two week holiday. It is slightly less ‘developed’, with far fewer tourists and a generally slower pace. As such, it suited my partner and I absolutely perfectly for a week of relaxation on the beach. Jungle Beach seemed to be our ideal location and I am very happy to report that it was all we had hoped it would be.

The sole hotel, and almost the only accommodation at all, on the whole stretch of Kuchaveli beach, Jungle Beach occupies an enviable position, right up against the sands. Importantly, it is a public beach which means that the locals can enjoy their beach as well although most seemed to prefer the neighbouring Nilaveli beach.

The team at Jungle Beach were really excellent. From the housekeeping team through to the chefs, everyone was spot on. On one day, they hosted their inter departmental cricket tournament and it was clear that there was a huge sense of camaraderie between all of the staff.

We had six nights and could only bring ourselves to leave the Jungle Beach property once for a morning snorkelling with turtles and sharks at the beautiful Pigeon Island. Suffice to say, we were very sad to have to leave at the end of week.

Given the setting, it is no surprise that we saw and heard all manner of incredible wildlife, including beautiful birds, terrapins, snakes, insects, crocodiles and even a slender loris.

The website does not do the hotel justice. This place is a cleverly designed hide away with excellent service and tasteful decor- a little gem.

The prices for meals and drinks - extras - are inexpensive for the quality - the fact that many local Sri Lankan’s visit here is testament to the pricing structure.

The beach is glorious - and goes on for miles - one has the feeling to be the only hotel on the northern part of the island. Try a private BBQ on the beach -(we had a sea turtle approach and lay its eggs).

The gym is adequate - but none of the equipment worked - all corroded by the sea.

Somebody “got it right” with this place - I predict that in 2 to 3 years they will be fully booked so go there now when there are few guests and it is still affordable!

Wonderful luxury resort

We had a fabulous 5 night stay here. The staff are a real asset to the place. Naveen on reception helped us organise an out of season trip to pidgeon island as well as checking each day that we were happy with the service. The restaurant staff were particularly wonderful, they were all so attentive remembering what we liked and my husbands dietary requirements. They could not do enough for us and genuinely seemed interested. We have never experienced such high standards of service.
The food was superb and the head chef even kindly provided us with the recipe for the bread they made. It’s the same price as you’d pay for a meal in the UK but the setting and service are worth it.
We stayed in November (off season) in a beach cabin. This really is a luxurious hut with ensuite as well as an outdoor shower and path to the beach (just 10seconds away).
There were a lot of bugs and mozzies around (likely due to the fact this really is a jungle resort filled with vegetation and wildlife). These were not a problem in the room however.
The sea was quite rough owing to the season. Lifeguard is present. The beach extends both ways into the distances and most of the time we were the only ones on it (there are no surrounding hotels). There is a pool by the bar/restaurant area too with about 12 loungers.
They also have a spa providing treatments which were lovely and the same price as any high end hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in this jungle paradise.

Great hotel ,very relaxing

The staff were attentive but not overpowering , the only thing I would say is that it is a very long journey from the airport (Colombo) 5-6 hours transfers .
We really enjoyed the Safari organised by the hotel ,saw loads of Elephants and Birds .

Staff could not have been more accommodating. The only bad thing I can say is that now I'm spoiled and nothing will live up to the quality that has been set so high at Jungle Beach! The mangroves and trees keep it cool, while the jungle wild life sings from all around.

Fantastic hotel with friendly professional staff. Very high quality service and food. The cooking class was especially nice. Only downside is that it's far from the Main Street, perhaps they can provide a shuttle service I the evenings for guests who want to dine in local restaurants. Otherwise I was very impressed with the hotel and overall services. The location was majestic and the outside shower adds to the jungle experience. The beach dinner with a bonfire and full moon topped off the week with a delicious variety of barbecued seafood and meats. Very high quality for a very affordable price.

Perfect setting for complete relaxation.

Uga Jungle Beach is a small holiday village with individual rooms of high standard with indoor and outdoor shower facilities. There is a SPA, a gym and a beach which while not privately owned seems not to be used by any other than hotel guests. They have their own boat for trips to Pigeon Island or rocky outcrops for snorkeling, diving and other activities. The chalets have been built with as little disturbance to the natural surroundings as possible, they are individual and reach by small paved paths, the pool, its bar and dining areas are centrally situated and there is a boardwalk from the dining area to the beach. There is friendly wildlife around intriguing but not concerning. The staffing level is high in proportion to guests and they made our short stay of 6 days an absolute pleasure. The food is exceptional and prepared to order, could not fault anything......

Unbelievably excellent service and food is AMAZING

We had 12 nights at UGA, the location is on a (what feels like) deserted strip of beautiful beach backed onto dense vegetation/jungle. You get a great feeling of isolation here.

The service was excellent and the food was presented beautifully with a large choice including a dedicated vegetarian menu, snack menu and \"todays creations\" unique set menu on some nights.

We went on some excursions with the hotel which were fantastic, Robert and Janith from the hotel were excellent guides. Snorkelling at Pigeon Island and Sigiriya comes highly recommended. Front of house was attentive and they went out of their way to please. My wife prefers soya milk and they had no problem changing the breakfast to soya based for her and milk based for me.

We met another couple on honeymoon and had an incredible private bbq on the beach one evening, again they have a seafood, meat and seafood or vegetarian menu for the beach bbq's. Highly recommended.

We saw plenty of wildlife on the hotel grounds, toads, snakes, geckos, iguanas, giant squirrel just to name a few.

All in all, a great holiday in a very interesting and colourful country.
