Very historic building
Although nobody there to check us in .
You had to go across street other hotel to check in .We understood that you could get continental breakfast at hotel Nobody there until weekend Needless to stay hotel was very quiet and peaceful .
Would prefer to have choice of our breakfast They should specify this that they don't have breakfast or any food options so you will know this before booking Other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Cet établissement est tout juste acceptable. La chambre ne peut servir qu'à dormir. Rien de confortable pour s'assoir, juste deux petiteschaises pliantes. Aucun service sur place il faut se déplacer à l'Auberge du grand lac pour avoir du service. Aucun ascenseur, les lampes sont alimentées par des rallonges et les prises de courants ne sont pas facielemnt acessibles.

Je ne recommande pas cet établissement.

Breakfast is available for a price at another hotel nearby. We went elsewhere.
The hotel is an older building but well maintained. The room had an ac window unit, a bit loud but efficient. The room (and bathroom) was clean. Furnished with antiques which gave it an old but interesting look. The bed was comfortable enough.

I would like to give this place a better score, but 1 item ruined it for me.
First what I liked, good amenities, nice staff, old charming style. If you like rustic, you will enjoy this place. Bear in mind the walls are not soundproof, that goes with old properties and should be expected.
What I did not like, the room was prepaid for, when I arrived I was given my check-in form and it mentioned room #7, but I was given key to room 4. I was told about 3 times, it says 7, but you have room 4, which at the time I thought nothing of. What I realized is that there must have been someone in room 4 that complained and was given my room, so when I arrived I was given room 4, with the refrigerator from hell. It is nice to have a refrigerator in the room, I used it to store perishable items, but in the middle of the night I was awoken to what sounded like a dying animal, it was the fridge... I could not unplug it due to there being food in it, and there is no staff in the hotel at that hour. Note I was there for a 12km race Saturday and another 10KM the next day, so I needed my sleep, which I did not get. For the price, I would have expected better maintenance of the rooms. Everything else was a charm at this place.

The overall place was quite lovely but room amenities could be better. We let the lady talk us out of the Royal Room which would have been better than the room that was ready. Room 3 had one bedside light instead of two, bedside tables that were so low, I almost fell out of bed reaching it. Only one overhead light and one bedroom table light, not great. There was no place to put things in the bathroom or throughout the room. A small pedestal sink that sloped so nothing could be placed on the sink but there was tons of room to put in drawers, vanity sink, shelves to store toiletries. We stayed for 2 nights and found it difficult to comfortably use the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and water pressure great.

Quirky old fashioned accommodation

The guesthouse appeared to be mostly empty and is managed from the hotel down the road. There is a grand old lounge and dining room downstairs which has a jug, microwave and coffee machine guests can use but not in use. If you want their continental breaky you go to the hotel down the road (we didn't need). There are no lifts which was fine for us but very creaky wooden floors. Several rooms including ours #3 face the verandah with windows opening to it which would be awful if there were smokers using it or guests sitting out there as it would be so noisy. It was noisy overnight even with we think 2 sets of other guests as they came and went at all hours of the night.

The room and bathroom were spacious but as others have said even with the air con turned as low as possible the rooms are very hot and the bed, common to everywhere we have travelled here it seems, had a winter weight quilt. A fridge is provided but tea and coffee is only available downstairs. It is only a short stroll to town. For the very affordable price it was good value.

We liked how cozy and comfortable the place is. Its a tiny bit noisy when the traffic starts in the morning and you can hear the other rooms. If that doesn't bother you, its fantastic. We loved going down to the lounge for self serve coffee and used the toaster in the morning.

This place is very old and just beautiful. Very rustic! The floors crack and it smells like you are at grandma's old house. The common areas are spacious and very well decorated. It's too bad that they don't offer meals because they have a beautiful dining room and all the facilities to do so! Even if it is a no reception property, the check-in went very well.
The Chateau is very close to downtown and all the bars and restaurant. We went skating on the amazing icing trail all along the lake and we went there by foot. We were in the room with 2 beds because I was with my 2 adult daughters and the room was very nice.

We had to do our checking from another property, the Chateau was not occupied at al. The next morning, excavation machine, trucks and bulldozers, rollers start working after 7:00 AM. Although somewhat rustic, the Chateau conserva a cachet of Ancestral building in the city of Magog.

Chambre très vieillotte...mais très propre!
Il y avait une odeur de « febreeze» particulièrement forte en entrant dans l'hôtel. Les rideaux étaient défraîchis et étaient bcp trop long...ils couvraient la totalité des calorifères...danger pour le feu! Le lit était confortable, mais les oreillers étaient bcp trop gros….on se sentait la tête comme sur un ballon...difficile de bien dormir et la chambre est peu insonorisée...on entendait la circulation qui se trouvait tout près! la climatisation était déficiente et très bruyante. Le château aurait besoin d'un peu d'amour!
Nous n’y retournerons pas!

Beau séjour. Hôtel qui date du début des années 1900 et qui aurait besoin d’une mise à jour. Beau décor qui préserve l’ambiance d’antan. Salon accessible aux visiteurs. Grande machine à glace. -Nous n'avons pas du tout eu la chambre que nous avions payé pour.
Nous avions réservé la Royale et nous avons eu la deluxe ( bcp plus petit)
- Sur une des taies d'oreillée, il y avait des gouttes de sang!
- Les murs ne sont pas du tout insonorisés. Nous entendons les gens parler.
et le train est passé durand la nuit...
- Etant donné qu'il n y a plus de personnel à patir de 15h, nous n'avions personne pour aviser de la mauvaise chambre!
-Le lendemain, une dame à seulement pris notre # téléphone en disant que nous recevrons un appel...

Ça ne correspond pas du tout au nom « Château… », ni à la description de « Superbe Chambre Royale ». Aucune luxe. Ce n’est même pas un hôtel, mais plutôt une location de chambre. Chambre minimaliste avec de vieilles meubles et un lit double (pas Queen). Le plancher a plein de trous, pas confortable à marcher dessus. Aucun service. Aucun personnel sur place entre 16h00 et 8h00. Bel emplacement et beau paysage.

WHAT a find! My first time to Magog but I'm sure not our last. This property has great 'bones.' It's a beautiful building, which has benefitted from loving, careful restorations--that are ongoing. Our room (#8) really was a suite. Public spaces are charming and comfortable. We were in the area for a concert at the nearby Abbae de Sainte Benoit, and it's great to know that we now have a toehold for future trips. HIGHLY recommended.

The building was what is expected it is well maintained for an old building. The only little bit of inconvenience was that there was no staff on duty. We were instructed to pick up our key at other location (pretty much across the street). It was very quick though. If you want quiet…. This is the place to be. There is a lovely sitting area that you can relax by a gas fireplace and read or play cards etc.
