Disappointing stay and lack of management

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while I wasn’t expecting luxury, I did at least expect the basics to be as advertised. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

First off, the service was bearable—the waiters and staff did their best, but it was clear that there was no real management overseeing anything. It felt like everything was just left up to them, and they were doing the best they could with little direction.

The two restaurants was another letdown. A huge portion of the menu was unavailable, so we were left with very limited choices. If you’re advertising a diverse menu, you should at least be able to serve most of it.

Overall, this place feels completely unorganized and mismanaged. The staff are trying, but without leadership, the whole experience falls flat. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re fine with a place running on autopilot.

It was raining cats and dogs and walking into reception with the fire burning was quite enjoyable. Reception was a pleasure and seemless. Rooms clean and well appointed. Even with load-shedding the essentials were working and the Grill Room gave excellent meals including breakfast. The only \"question\" I have is why breakfast only starts at 8. Does result in coming late at the office.

Our stay was excellent as always but the reason why I have two points marked with a shortfall is that due to the rain our room (27) had a leak in the corner which soiled the carpet. I know it rained heavily but its still a problem I decided to report because it can cause mildew to form and the carpet destroyed.

There is no attention to detail and standards are not kept across the board. This could be an amazing place, but until someone cracks the whip this lovely place will be a bit disappointing.
The main redeeming feature is location, it is stunning there.

European elegance captured in Africa!

I have traveled extensively in South Africa & i would have to stay Val Du Charron was in the top 5! From the ambiance, to the views, to the fine cuisine & service, i was thoroughly impressed.. I enjoyed my room with a view & the lovely tea & coffees that were so elegantly placed in my room. All the comforts & European elegance captured in Africa! I would definitely go back...

Overall we where very happy with the friendliness of the staff and how beautiful the Estate was. Just want to give some advice to the estate, the room that we stayed in, all the doors and extractor fan in the bathroom were very squeaky and noisy and needed some oil.

Found the Superior Double rooms uninspiring. Old carpets on en-suite shower floor. Diluted Shampoo in showers. Aircon didnt work. Upgraded to 5 star room, as no other rooms available and paid for it. Then had no internet, no working phone so still had to walk up to order breakfast at main bar. Service was slow and prices are steep and hygiene is questionable.

The venue and the surrounds are very tidy and the area is very beautiful.

Its a pity that the continental breakfast was the same every day, no variety, but was good.

The stay was not enjoyable and we will not stay at the guesthouse again.

Excellent stay in Wellington

Fantastic experience on all fronts.Great hotel with fantastic views of the vineyards and the mountain Great service and hospitality. The Grillroom menu was excellent and the food did not disappoint. Vegetarians will however have to order from the the Pizza E Vino (the other restaurant at the hotel).An extra smile as we were upgraded to a suite.

A gem of a location.

Stunning views, wine, food and facilities.

We stayed in the coach house with pur own splash pool and amazing private courtyard and room. Staff are friendly and make everything easy.

The wine is fantastic too and you can do free wine tasting to choose your favourites.

Enjoy as much as we did.

Excellent service

We had the family room which had loads of space and very comfortable. Seperate shower and bath and balcony with seating for four. Other rooms are on the front of the building with fantastic views. Family room does not have any view to speak of, but not a problem. \"Theatre of Wine\" presentation by Ketso was very entertaining and interesting. Wine was good too, in particular 4 White Legs and Black Countess. Freshly prepared breakfast outstanding as were steaks we had on evening. Would definitely return.

Paradise!

I cannot rate our stay at Val du Charron highly enough. The service was great from the moment we walked in, and remained consistently so throughout our stay. We had all our meals in their Local Grill restaurant, where the waiting staff is attentive and friendly and the food absolutely delicious (especially the steaks!). The views over the valley and mountains are peaceful - something special. We did mountain biking in the area and the trails at Welvanpas are world class. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful place in a gorgeous setting. Unfortunately we came away feeling a little shortchanged. We were greeted by the poor, harried chef who informed us that because there had been a wedding the day before, there would be no restaurant services that night. That was something we were counting on after a long drive and part of the reason we choose Val du Charron. We were informed that there would be load shedding for two hours that night but that the generator would come on. The lights did go out but the generator failed to come on and no one came to check if all was functioning as it should. Needless to say this made for a less than enjoyable, very dark stay. Breakfast was good and served rather elegantly as would befit what appears to be a lovely spot. We inquired about the included olive and wine tours but it was too much of a walk for me so we passed. We inquired about the cellar tour and found the lights would not come on and we were given the short and somewhat hurried version. This is a beautiful place to stay in an absolutely lovely setting but we felt the service we received was short shrift.

Val Du Charron zählte lange zu meinen Lieblingsplätzen in Südafrika. Dies ist leider jetzt vorbei. Als Stammgast im Restaurant wollte ich jetzt auch mal das Hotel austesten. Das ca. 27qm große gebuchte Luxuszimmer war ca. 16qm groß. Es war gegen 07:30 mit der Nachtruhe vorbei, da es eine Osterveranstaltung mit vielen Menschen gab.
Das Essen im Restaurant enttäuschend.... das Steak ok, Gemüse und Kartoffelbrei fast kalt.
Das kontinentale Frühstück bestand aus einem Schälchen Bircher Müsli. Der 1. Kaffee
sehr gut..... der 2. sollte bezahlt werden. Es war eine Enttäuschung

Boende på vingård - 2 restauranger att välja på varav en serverade lite enklare rätter tex pasta , vi provade båda och var nöjda. Möjlighet till enklare privat vinprovning.
Poolen varm, barnen badade på länge.
Rekommenderas!
-Om man har möjlighet att åka hit via R301 så är den en smal häftig bergsväg !

Enttäuschender Aufenthalt

Ich hatte über Expedia ein Zimmer mit Blick auf das Val du Charron gebucht und bei \"Wünsche\" eingetragen, dass ich gerne ein Doppelbett hätte. Nach dem Checkin stellte ich fest, dass das Zimmer zwei Einzelbetten hatte, die man nicht einmal zusammen schieben konnte. Nach Reklamation bekamen wir ein Familienzimmer mit Doppelbett, das allerdings nach hinten ausgerichtet war. Nachts bellten bis 24.00 zwei Hunde im Nachbarhaus. Das Bad war mit Fliesen ausgestattet, die so rutschig waren, dass man barfuß darauf ausrutschte. Im Bad lag ein Teppich, der nach Käsefüßen roch. Dann brachten uns noch diverse Mücken um die Nachtruhe.
Nur das Personal war sehr freundlich und hat sich mehrfach entschuldigt - leider konnte das den mangelnden Schlaf nicht ersetzen.

Das hotel ist idilische in ein Weingut untergebracht \"The Local Grill\" Restaurant war gut ( wenn Mann Fleisch mag)
Hotel angeblich 5 Sterne...
Das Zimmer war in die Jahren gekommen, schmutzig, Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht Einwand frei, auf Anfrage ein Bügel Brett angefragt ... hätte das lieber sein lassen ( vergilbt und schimmel ) und wir hatten ein paar nicht bezahlenden Mitbewohner (Kakerlaken) zu Gast, den Pool war winzig...
Der Inhaber der Weingut ist recht bemüht jedoch der Hotel Manager hat kein Einsicht das diesen Themen wichtig sind
Gib lieber ein paar Euro mehr aus und Buche das Hotel Grand Dadale das in der Nähe gelegen liegt und die 5 Sterne wirliche verdienen \"

　ワインランドは多くのホテルがあり、どこが良いか分かりませんでした。そこで、検索した中からワイナリー併設、そして、景色に目がとまったホテルを選びました。実際に到着すると、思った通りの素晴らしく、美しい景色が見られるホテルでした。
　そこでの食事は最高のひとときとなりました。レストランの外の席にしてもらい、美しい景色を見ながら食事をいただきました。おすすめのワインは、ワイナリーだけあってとても美味しかったです。ここのレストランは肉料理がメインで、肉好きの私にとっては、嬉しいの一言。肉と赤ワインと美しい景色。本当に最高の時間を過ごすことができました。ちなみに白ワインも美味しかったです。ホテルの方々も親切でよかったです。

Fantastisk vistelse - kan verkligen rekommenderas.

Oerhört vackert och fridfullt. Så trevlig och tillmötesgående personal. Allt var perfekt - professionellt och personligt! God mat och fina viner. Utsikten från vårt rum var bedårande. Vi fick en fin guidad visning och provning av vingårdens viner. Vi åkte runt på olika fantastiska vingårdar och vi gjorde även en utflykt i hyrd bil över bergen.

Ein hübsches Weingut

Wir wurden sehr freundlich mit einem Gals Wein empfangen. Das kleine aber hübsche Zimmer hatte einen herrlichen Ausblick über die Weinberge bis zu den Bergen. Die Führung durch den Weinkeller war sehr interessant und nur für uns. Das Schwimmen im kleinen Pool war herrlich am Morgen für dem Frühstück.
