Lovely stay overall. The setting is beautiful and very relaxing. Breakfast was made to order and consistently excellent, and we really enjoyed the complimentary wine tasting each day at 5:30pm—a lovely touch that added to the experience.
The bathrooms, while very clean, could benefit from some modernising and refurbishment.
One small note: pool service was a bit slow, and there is a tray charge and tip automatically included with pool drink orders. The amount is minimal, but it would be helpful if this were made clear prior to ordering, or simply included in the drink prices.
Overall, a wonderful stay and a place we would happily return to.

The staff rumaged theough our belongings. They made no effort to contact us beforehand. Ask the management, did you contact me by phone or email before you went through my belongings, yes or no? They will respond with an evasive answer because the truth is their staff opened closed suitcases and moved around our items. This was UNPROFESSIONAL and SECURITY VIOLATION… i would recommend you stay at any other hotel in beautiful paarl and avoid this place at ALL COSTS! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

The Grande Roche is a wonderful place with such kind, happy and thoughtful management and staff. In particular thank you to Marchello, Denai and Veena for making my stay so comfortable - you are wonderful people! The whole vibe is very chilled and friendly. The views out onto the grounds and vineyards are stunning - the landscaping and gardening give a sense of luxury and connection with nature. I really loved the sense of calm. The room was beautful, and the breakfast was delicious with plenty of cooked to order choices, and I will miss dining next to the fire in the evenings - the chef was amazing! Thank you to all the staff at Grande Roche - keep up the amazing work!

We stayed in a duplex room, with a comfy lounge and toilet downstairs, and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Lovely touches including coffee machine and tea making facilities, lovely biscuits, water daily and turn down service. Some of the furniture could do with upgrading (wardrobes) and bathroom could do with updating. Breakfast was lovely but service slow. However overall lovely stay and would return.

Seventh visit and always a great experience. Staff were excellent in re-rooming us when the initial room wasn’t getting adequate light. Some modernization still required with some low level work being done on installing solar panels, so will be great to see the finished article once complete. Will certainly be back once again.

The location is spectacular and the manor house restaurant area and gardens are beautiful. The staff are very friendly but the service at breakfast was slow and unpredictable. The food was good, but you would wait for someone to just take your drinks order. The food also takes quite some time so make sure you are taking a leisurely breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay at Grande Roche just a few tips, rooms were a bit lacking probably needs a refurbishment, towels were in need of replacement, single bed charge should probably be disclosed upfront and not at check out, we also felt that the extra charge for single beds was rather heavy, restaurant service was not up to standard, food took long and waiters were not well trained and we struggled to get towels at the pool when we went for a swim.

A magnificent midweek break.

We had a grand stay at a Grande Olde Lady. The staff were excellent, friendly and well trained. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was top notch and the restaurant were happy to accommodate special requests. Great attention to detail in every way. Well worth the visit and we shall certainly return.

The hotel is a little tired and outdated. It could be grand, it is well-located with beautiful views, but requires investment (bathrooms) and management attention. The restaurant was probably the least interesting we encountered on our 2½ weeks in South Africa. Meals overcooked, and uninspiring.

The hotel 's public rooms and areas have great charm and character. The suite was very spacious but tired and in need of refurbishment.
The staff team is fantastic - welcoming, helpful, cheerful and willing.
Breakfast offered both buffet and al a carte options. Dinner was excellent.
Easy to walk into town but hotel offer a shuttle service that operates day and evenings.

Excellent choice for Hotel in Paarl.

I recently enjoyed a long stay at Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl, South Africa. This hotel sits up on hill overlooking the valley, and among the wine vineyards of the property. My room was extremely comfortable, with a King sized bed, a living room, and master bathroom.
Housekeeping, Grounds keeping, and especially Hotel Staff were excellent. Friendly, accommodating, professional.
Dinning room was beautiful, Food quality was excellent, but the menu was limited (same menus for lunch and Dinner). Wine menu was expansive and high quality.
Location was ideal. Within walking distance of old Paarl (10 to 12 city blocks), or just a few minutes drive to all parts Paarl.

Grand Roche hotel is definitely grand. Don't be fooled by looking at the location on a map - this is a tranquil, countryside retreat with absolutely outstanding views (see pics). It is nestled between the main road of Paarl and Paarl National Park. The hotel is set amidst vineyards and finely manicured gardens, has two pools and a small, basic gym.
Breakfast is a treat with champagne and oysters on offer daily and a chef on hand to cook your preferred dish. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was VERY quiet but there are numerous other great options within a short walk.
Hotel room was quaint and self contained with fast wifi and large, luxurious bathroom.
Highly recommend driving up to Paarl national park and getting off the beaten track, we didn't see anyone for 4 hours once getting off the main trail.
This hotel is a gem and definitely worth staying for a couple of nights relaxed getaway.

Absolutely Luxurious!

We didn't have a hotel for our last night in the wine region and literally booked this hotel at 8pm the morning before we arrived! I wish we would have stayed here all three days we were in the area. The staff was so welcoming and attentive and it was truly world class service. We were welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and there was a bottle of wine in our room as well. The grounds were amazingly beautiful with the vineyards, mountains and two pools. Spending a few hours by the pool was our highlight.

When we asked if it was possible to get an uber to Fairview winery, they insisted that they drive us there complimentary.

We got room service (which was great!) but the dinner menu looked amazing as well. Right at sunset, the mountains glow the most wonderful shade of pink and it is such an amazing sight.

We stayed in the \"Java\" duplex and it was huge and very nice. The bed could have been a little softer and the shower was a bit confusing, but those are minor complaints. We didn't find an ironing board in the room, but I'm sure if we would have asked, they would have brought us one.

Overall, this place was so beautiful and luxurious and the staff was incredible. I only regret that we didn't have more time here! It was the nicest place we stayed in all of South Africa.

This is a lovely hotel in a historic manor house and vineyard. We had a lovely large suite which is very well appointed and modernized. We really enjoyed the large swimming pool. The service is generally very good, but occasionally there are too many staff looking after you and they get in a muddle. Nonetheless all the staff were very charming and we would highly recommend a stay here. The only real downside is that it is quite expensive - but you do get what you are paying for.

Great country hotel in the wine lands.

It was our 20th wedding anniversary and it was epic. The welcome was so warm and the staff took care of our every need. They made our anniversary so special with rose petals on our table for dinner and on our return to our room we found a bottle of champagne and rose petals all over our suite. I would highly recommend this luxury hotel.

I was treated like royalty by the staff and stayed for 10 nights. I was satisfied in every respect. Breakfast was great. Variety good. I ended my breakfast most mornings with pancakes and cinnamon sugar and a slice of lemon. And two cups of cappuccino. Lovely bathroom with large bath, walk in shower, under floor heating and many towels. Underfloor heating in the bedroom as well. A bowl of fresh fruit daily in the room. Beautiful garden.

Refined and relaxed, this is a truly stunning location with beautifully kept gardens and vineyards. The ambience was helped by very friendly and attentive staff, who went out of their way to ensure our holiday was perfect. Dining at Bosman's restaurant is a fantastic experience, whether outside on the verandah overlooking the mountains, or inside the beautiful main room.
A wonderful and rejuvenating stay.

Unfortunate incident on beautiful location

The hotel is a truly lovely. Unfortunately we had a scary incident when staff by mistake tried to get into our room during the night. We got extremely scared and unfortunately we were not informed of what had happened. We raised the question at 3 occasions but it wasn't until 2 weeks after our stay that we had a return email with a standard excuse from an assistant of the hotel. A 5 star hotel should know better how to handle incidents.

Wow, what a welcome to South Africa!!

We arrived at Grande Roche rather frazzled, having flown in on the night flight from the UK, desperately in need of a comfy bed and some TLC. From the moment that we pulled up at the gate our experience was outstanding. The huge smiles, glass of fizz and comfy sofa's instantly soothed. Our room was ideal, the complimentary treats were just delicious and the bed the most comfortable we have come across for a while. The room was spacious and well equipped, we particlarly liked the fantastic walk in shower. Waking to glorious African sunshine in this lovely setting was a great way to start another adventure, Paarl mountain rises directly behind Grande Roche with an outlook over vine yards and distant mountains, just perfect! Breakfast is an extensive buffet with additional freshly cooked options also availalble, there really is something for everyone all fresh, all good quality and all very relaxed. We just wish we knew how great Grande Roche was before we arrived, we would have stayed longer!

Management is disaster. Basically non-existant. Service dramatically bad, very long waiting. Or just have to go and find them ourselves. This is not a 5 star hotel, perhaps 3. Swimming pool toilets not attended to, not even toiletpaper! But you pay the full 5star hotel price. Some waitresses really do their utmost, but total lack of support by management. This was our last time ever. We’ve been coming back each year, because of the wonderful setting. But n e v e r was there improvement in management. Just got worse. Real shame.

Eine beeindruckende Unterkunft in einem historischen Landgut. Sehr gepflegte, schöne Außenanlagen.
Das Sklavenhaus, in dem unsere Maisonette Unterkunft war, ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Dafür war sie auf zwei Ebenen sehr geräumig. Insgesamt aber etwas zu teuer. Das Badezimmer hat schon viele Jahre hinter sich und einige Macken. Die Lichtschalter und Steckdosen waren alle etwas versteckt.
Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, die Massagen suchen ihresgleichen genauso wie das Restaurant mit seinem fantastischen Ausblick und ausgezeichneten Speisen.
Alles in allem aber ein Erlebnis auf unserem Südafrika-Trip, das wir nicht missen möchten.

Sehr nette hilfsbereite Angestellte. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit toller Ausstattung und renoviertem, sehr modernem Bad. Die Anlage ist sehr schön angelegt. Einzig das Frühstücksbuffet am 2. Tag war für ein 5 Sterne Haus etwas dürftig in der Auswahl. Am 1. Tag gab es aufgrund der niedrigen Auslastung kein Buffet, man konnte a la carte bestellen und es war lecker.
