Stayed at Balgownie Estate and really enjoyed the experience. The location is beautiful and very relaxing, making it a great place for a short getaway.

The service throughout the stay was excellent, with friendly and welcoming staff who made everything easy. The restaurant was a highlight — both dinner and breakfast were very good and well worth trying.

Overall the stay was reasonably priced for the quality of the accommodation and the setting.

The only downside was that the pool area is currently closed while it is being repaired or replaced, which would have been nice to use. Aside from that, it was a very enjoyable stay and I would happily visit again.

The room selected was perfect for our stay in the Yarra Valley. Eveything was spotless, clean with everything available at your fingertips.

Staff very courteous and helpful. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with a selection to answer your needs. There was a weekend portion to our stay and the place was swarming with people, a good sign of the quality offered.

The wine tasting at the cellar door was enjoyable and gave us the opportunity to sample many of the wines produced on site. Their estate series has some excellent wines that I would recommend.

We had dinner at their restaurant and the meal was excellent.

Overall, a very enjoyable time in a region that has a lot to offer for everyone.

Had trouble with accessing our room a few times. Need to walk back and forth from the reception. It is quite a distant too. The room is spacious, bathroom is nice but the shower is not practical. Dinner was ok.. the food is not as good as it used to be a few years back. The swimming was under reno and we were not made aware of that.

Hotel’s at a pretty location. Room was pretty clean and in good condition. Staff was not so friendly unfortunately when ask to book the restaurant for dinner, she asked me to check with the restaurant directly. No preference for hotel guests for wine tasting, you have to book in advance. The gym was quite run down that the pool was under maintenance and the trackmill was out of order.

Lovely room with garden view. Comfortable bed, modern bathroom and luxury toiletries. Breakfast was very good and dinner in the restaurant delicious. However choice was limited to a grazing or set menu. Those having the grazing menu were asked to sit in a separate area, on their own, although the restaurant was half empty, which felt a bit unwelcoming.

Beautiful grounds, staff were lovely. We got upgraded to a one bedroom apartment which was a nice surprise. My daughter has food intolerances and they were a great help with heating up pre prepared food etc. Breakfast was beautiful with gorgeous views over the Yarra Valley. I would love to come back.

A Perfect Family Getaway at Balgownie Estate!
We had a wonderful time staying at Balgownie Estate with our family. The location is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful vineyards and rolling hills — perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable for us and our kids.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We loved the on-site restaurant — the food was delicious, and they had great options for both adults and children.

There were plenty of things to do nearby, including wineries, chocolate and cheese shops, and fun outdoor activities for the kids. We especially enjoyed the hot air balloon views in the morning and the stunning sunsets in the evening.

Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing Yarra Valley experience with a touch of luxury!

Lack of soundproofing in the rooms unfortunately took away from being able to wind down & relax.

It was if the walls were paper thin. We could hear a whole family of people in the rooms below us speaking loudly & playing games up until after 12midnight.

The steam room and pool Jets were out of order, and the Suna advertised is misleading as it isnt actually available to guests unless booked via the spa.

Apart for this the staff were amazing, the resturant and wine tasting was amazing, and the room was great!

we booked room for 3 ADULTS for mothers day stay in this hotel. when arrived, find out ther is only one king bed. ask front desk staff Maddilin for a extra bed when dining. 2 and half hour later we finished meal. told by front desk staff needLIN ere is nothing they can do because we didn't inform them we need two beds. and the.house keeping staffs are off duty. even no help offered when we ask for a extra lenine and blanket TO MAKE OUR OWN BED USING SOFA. she also claim the hotel is fully booked except the director's suite when we ask to book another standrad room which we find untrue by checking hotel.com later. we keeped screenshotfor evidence. when ask for solusion. told us to contact our booking agent to rebook for a two bed room at 930pm. refuse to contact higher manager until we are very upset. extremely rude and bully attitude. when we ask to talk to manager, she threating to remove us from front desk. eventually we paid more than 701.07 dollars extra to change to the director suite.

Room is nice and was clean. Staff friendly on check in.
We had late check out arranged however staff made an error and our room was entered by cleaners early while at breakfast & stripped. When we returned to the room we alerted them we had not checked out.
As a result a personal photo was removed from the room & 2 pairs of earings missing which they refuse to accept responsibility for. As compensation they offered a mid week stay which we cant use due to work or a free dinner which would be a 2 hour drive.. both very unreasonable considering the situation & personal loss. They refuse to offer a weekend stay to replace the night we actually paid for and nothing for the lost earings. Very very poor customer care.

We were beyond happy during our 4 days stay at the Balgownie when we were celebrating our wedding. The staff is fantastic and is the driver of all of our positive experience. The property is located ~1hr outside of Melbourne - we are from out of town and first time visiting here. Area is very quiet and a great getaway from the city.

We had a group booking with ~10 rooms and the staff took care of each one of us during our stay.

The staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating of our group - often recommending arrangements that would improve our experience proactively. We had the opportunity to use one of the group rooms as well for an event and it was very well catered.

Food is fantastic but wish the portion is slightly smaller so we don't waste so much food! Property is in a modern condition, very clean and I thought was quite family friendly too. I particularly enjoyed the aesthetics of the hotel which combined modern design with some retro style - all worked well together.

If you are looking for a weekend getaway or somewhere to visit near Melbourne, I highly recommend staying at Balgownie to make a special experience!

We were treated to a complementary wine tasting, the grounds were very nice, the breakfast was excellent and the room (admittedly, we chose the “standard” room) was adequate. The gym was untidy, the AC didn’t work in the gym (nor did the Wi-Fi) and it’s a small gym/pool area. It’s a nice location for exploring the area.

The most perfect place to relax! I was very happy with my 2 night stay.

Staff are friendly, the room was clean (with a great shower) and very spacious, and the balcony was great to have a wine in the sun. The free wine tasting in the afternoon was also a nice little bonus (Jenny is soo fun).

My only real issue is the pool/gym area is quite small but thankfully wasn’t busy, and the car park gets full.

The restaurant on site was a great vibe and excellent food (bit pricey but the Wagyu was worth it). I would happily stay again!

Booked 10 days before New Years Eve and discussed at length the options for dining given there was a function on that night. The function was booked out so we booked in the restaurant only to be told at lunch time on NYE that the restaurant wouldn’t be serving dinner that night and the only option was to eat in our room. Given the short notice we could not book anywhere else. Very untidy around the property grounds. Maintenance has not been kept up. Has deteriorated considerably since our previous stay.

An Estate with everything you would desire

It was an amazing experience; we were staying with family for a members wedding at a nearby winery. The staff at check in were very helpful in getting us into the room before 2pm. The bar staff were also friendly and helpful. The breakfast that was included was brilliant, the variety and freshness of the food and beverages was a whole experience in itself. I would highly recommend a stay for a special occasion. Hope to be back soon for the wine tasting.

For the price we paid for one night, I expected a little more in the way of comfort. The hot water continued to go cold then very hot. Stairs down to our room were slippery - I slipped twice. The in room lighting was poor. The complementary wine tasting was Ok but the gentleman running it was rude at times when asked a simple question - I confirmed the name of the wine we were tasting and the tone I received was very poor. Can’t say I will be back to this venue which is disappointing as this was a return stay.

I ran into car trouble on my way to Balgownie, which meant I was left stranded without a car to get home to Heathcote. The staff were so accommodating and kept my room open in case I needed to stay another night, which I did. Given my stressful circumstances, everyone at the property was just lovely and made it easy for me to work, relax and sort out my car troubles.

I paid $500 for one night stay with Breakfast to be honest the property from the outside and the restaurant area looks amazing but the room we had was definitely not 5 star and neither was the breakfast. I ordered a bucket of ice from my room called reception they transferred me to the kitchen I left a message as nobody answered had to go there myself to pick it up. The staff in the restaurant were great ‘Sarah you are a Champion’ both coffee machines weren’t working properly the pancake machine was empty it was continually waiting for things to be rectified. I stay at the Langham and Grand Hyatt Melbourne I find them to be cheaper to stay I think if you are going to charge these high prices then give me 5 star service. Probably won’t go back to stay as I found the rooms below 5 star standard and please fix the noisy aircon outside the balcony on the bottom floor 106 as it’s terrible sitting outside on the balcony with the noise cutting in and out

We stayed in a one bedroom spa room and loved the comfortable king bed. Was reasonably clean but there were food crumbs on the bench of the kitchenette and spa looked like it needed a good scrub.
We did a wine tasting and the lady was fantastic. She was the perfect person for the job - chatty, friendly and more importantly she was knowledgeable (and honest) about the wines so of course we bought some.
Lovely location, hot air balloons early in the morning.
Had a wedding on close by so this was a great place to stay. Overall we really enjoyed a few nights here.

Wow stunning views, amazing restaurant and friendly and helpful team. The food and wine ( as you would expect) were excellent, great choice. Our corner suite had 180 degree views across the valley. My only small criticism were the pool area felt a bit unloved and needed some tlc.

inside of the room is a 3 star not 5 as claimed.
rainwater tank with very loud pump was on all night making opening of the window ,impossible.
air-condition is terrible .
lucky the night temperature wasn't to hot.
Breakfast was absolutely disgusting and should not be served.

Room is too basic. No artwork. No USB ports. Daily room service was terrible with messes, towels, tea, coffee not replaced. No shelves and drawers to unpack into. Had to go to reception frequently to get stuff sorted that should be standard hotel service. Light switches not working and not in logical places. I expected far more from a resort of this reputation.
