Stayed for two nights, parking was a plus at 15 euro a night, Hotel position was perfect. Breakfast was good
The major down side was our room, it was small and so dark and dingy, lighting was dull, we couldn’t open the curtain because we were at street level and the public road and footpath were directly outside. Bathroom was made small, dominated by extra large shower cubicle which left no room for anything else

Beautiful location walking distance to citadelle and old town Besançon near breathtaking views and the gorgeous walking path along the river. The hotel had an eclectic and charming lobby/ lounge. Our room was on the ground floor of an annex type building. It was clean and simple. There is no air conditioning which was not a problem for us in early June but might be in mid summer. There is very limited parking on property and we had to find street parking which was not an easy feat - the staff directed us to a nearby lot which was full the entire stay requiring us to park on a road along the river - perhaps a 5 min walk away. Overall outstanding location and would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a driving trip through Burgundy. The staff here was exceptional and did everything they could to make our stay easy and comfortable. The hotel itself is charming, and I have to say that the breakfast buffet was one of the best we have had on our trip. Also, the hotel is within easy walking distance of everything you want or need to see while visiting Besancon. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to feel welcomed in Besancon.

Stayed here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed Besancon and this hotel. Very comfortable room and was able to park in one of the spaces at the front entrance. Walkable to Christmas market, city center and The Citadelle which was a real treat for my family because of the zoo and the great views.

When booking a room book king size if you want an American Queen size bed. What is noted as a queen bed is actually a full size.

The location is an easy and pleasant walk to a multitude of shops and restaurants on Rue Grande and adjoining streets. The in-house continental breakfast is one of the best that I have enjoyed. The young Rumanian server was diligent and a pleasure to talk with. The front desk personnel were very helpful and friendly. In particular, I would like to commend Filipe who was most helpful and attentive following my arrival when I wasn't feeling well. My stay in Besancon was enhanced by my stay at the BW Citadelle.

Very nice hotel with modern interior design and comfortable rooms. Easy walking distance to the city centre or up to the citadelle. Useful to have parking on site (but reserve it ahead as it is very limited, and costs extra). Breakfast was good even if it was rather pricy at €13 a head but a nice buffet. Our only complaint was the superior room we had (No 7 in the Pavilion) was on the ground floor with a window overlooking the car park and beside the main ventilators. A lovely room spoilt by being very dark and depressing, and too noisy if you opened the window. Hard to believe it was the same price as other superior rooms. Ask when you book to make sure you get the room you want.

Lovely hotel in a good location in Besançon.

We were happy to arrive at the cobblestoned entrance to this lovely hotel. The staff made us feel very welcome and were always helpful in answering our questions. The hotel is located within an easy walking distance of the centre of town, which offers beautiful streets to explore. Also within easy reach is a stop for the number 27 bus that takes you to the Citadel, which is a must to visit whilst you are in Besançon.

The staff at BW Citadelle was very helpful, contacting us before our stay to ask if we needed to reserve a parking space in their small lot. The room was also small, but nice. The breakfast buffet was very good. The location was convenient to the Citadelle, which has a few museums and a zoo to see. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is somewhat run down, so it wasn't pleasant to walk to/from the hotel.

One-night Break in Besancon (Family Room)

We booked this hotel very last minute and were delighted with the location (central Besancon), which was in walking distance to all the sites, restaurants and the river walk. The staff were courteous and welcoming and gave us great recommendations for walks and places to eat. The breakfast buffet is in a rather splendidly designed room and the selection was fresh and tasty! We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Although the hotel is a little way out of the city centre it has easy access to the river where there are pleasant walks and is not too far from a range of restaurants and shops. A ten minute walk takes you into the hub of the city. A quiet area and a pleasant, well-maintained building with original decor. The breakfast room is of particular interest and the breakfast itself one of the best we've experienced in a hotel.

I've been staying many many hotels, but this hotel is one of the best one. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and can be access by foot everywhere. Also, the room is very spacious compared to any hotels in Europe. Especially, a lady named Christie was really kind and advised good tips for my sojourn, and a handsome young man named Phillip provided a great service with a care. Both of them speak English very fluently and treat me like a friend. Everything was great. I definitely go back to this hotel if chances are available.

Very nice hotel. Way better than the usual standard in Europe. As I understand it they renovated it two years ago and it shows. Again for Europe the room was quite large. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my battery charger and received an email telling me this and offering me to send it back to me. This had never happen to me before and tells a lot about the hotel's policy. I highly recommend staying there as it is also well situated to visit the Citadelle and the city center. Will definitely go there again!

Nice Hotel Convenient to Everything

This hotel is very conveniently located to walk to anything in Besançon. From check-in to check-out, the staff could not have been more helpful or friendlier - and they all speak English fluently. Our room was small but well-appointed. The beds were comfortable. The bath was quite modern. The A/C was less than efficient, but since it was quite cool outside, we just opened the windows and slept comfortably. However, I doubt one could be comfortable in the heat of summer. There was a lift. The breakfast room is in the cellar, which was very interesting. Breakfast was excellent, especially for the price. The Internet access worked well for us. Parking is at a premium with very few spaces, so I suggest that you reserve parking when you make your reservation. All-in-all, we had a very good stay here.

Wichtig!! Vor Buchung des Hotels bei Anreise mit Auto einen Parkplatz in Textform zusichern lassen. Das Hotel hat kaum Parkplätze. Diese sollte man daher vorher reservieren, was jedoch ins Auge springend nicht erkenn bar ist, da dort von \"parking en libre service\" gesprochen wird. Die Empfehlungen des Empfangs , wo man dann parken könnte , ist unbrauchbar. Es gibt nur kostenpflichtige auf 3 Stunden begrenzte Parkmöglichkeiten, es sei denn man kommt nach 19 Uhr und geht vor 9Uhr, da ist Parken kostenlos, wenn man noch einen Platz findet. Die Stadt kennt wohl das Problem, am Abend steckten viele Tickets an Fahrzeugen und am Morgen liefen uns auch 3 Kontrolleure über den Weg . Schlecht für unsere Anreise gegen 14 Uhr. Über Kosten anderer Parkplätze hatte der Empfamg nach seiner Auskunft keine Ahnung . Wir fühlten uns hier über den Stich gezogen. Das Zimmer selbst war gut mit großem Badezimmer. Die Klimaanlage war leider etwas geräuschvoll, das Zimmer hellhörig. Unser Standardzimmer war in der Remise zur Straßenseite gelegen. Nachts ist wenig Verkehr, das Fenster kann geöffnet werden. Ab gegen 6 Uhr morgens rauschen dann Fahrzeuge vorbei , das ist recht laut und dann sollte man das Fenster schließen. Das Hotel liegt nahe des EURvelo 6 Fahrradweges und ist für Radfahrer gut geeignet.

Au delà du fait que j'ai séjourné dans le pavillon extérieur, la chambre était en \"rez de trottoir\". Obligation de fermer le rideau car les passants de la rue sont quasi dans la chambre. Niveau lumière naturelle, on est à 0. Chambre très mal insonorisée, on entend le clac de la porte du pavillon des dizaines de fois dans la soirée, idem le matin + le réveil du voisin qui sonne pendant 30 minutes. Dormant dans le pavillon, sortir dehors, sous la pluie, pour aller prendre son petite dej, c'était la cerise sur le gâteau. Dommage ! SdB au top et bonne literie cela dit :)
