This is without doubt one of the best hotels we've ever been to. Large, spacious, stylish rooms with all the amenities. Grounds that extend for miles with fabulous canyon views. The pool area is fantastic. A great range of included on-site activities - we had a great time at Sujith's mocktail masterclass, and the female guide who led the stargazing and geology walk (unfortunately I didn't catch her name) was so good. Well worth investing the time for.

Food also very good especially breakfast, and we also enjoyed the Rose Garden for dinner - and the great waiter we had there. Juniper for dinner was perhaps the only thing in the hotel that was \"good not great\".

A heads up that the road from Saiq Plateau up to the hotel is paved but not the easiest especially if caught in the rain!

We hope to return some day...

Very rude front desk. As I arrived on the second day of the reservation, the front desk lady said that she would still \"let me stay\" as if doing me a favor, even though I prepaid for 2 nights. At check-out, no one bothered to ask how my stay went. Not yet been exposed to such rude and dismissive staff.

The rooms facing the restaurant/bar (many of them) are noisy in the evening, though music mercifully stopped at around 10pm. Still, if you are looking for a restful retreat in the mountains, bar music is probably not ideal.

The water provided in glass bottles in the room tasted strongly of chlorine and was not drinkable (unless you enjoy pool water).

On the positive side, the restaurant (Juniper) was very good with great staff and the location is beautiful. Having said that, Anantara next door also has stunning views with 10x better customer service.

Was a beautiful hotel with excellent service overall. Though the 2nd day the server at the restaurant kept asking us to be patient even though we waited 20 mins to get menus or acknowledged The rooms and property are beautiful but over priced. Food too was over priced and wasn’t great. For the price we paid meals should have been included and certainly should have tasted better. In addition.. our car broke down and they didn’t provide a free ride down the mountain. Again for the price we paid, feel that should have been included. I’ve stayed at gorgeous resorts before for a fraction of the cost. Activities weren’t all free either.

The only thing we enjoyed was the views and the hospitality and manners of the original Omani front reception

Unfortunately very disappointed, so many things far away from expectation and wouldn't recommend it as a 5star hotel at all.
1. Google navigation didn't work so we got lost for almost 2 hours

2. Calls to the hotel to help guide us 3 times till we were told we need to add on a Google app to be able to follow the new navigation they sent which should have been on the email of the booking

3. Food was too expensive very ordinary basic presentation and all utensils plates/ cups/ saucers were worn out and chipped from heavy wear and tear

4. Waiters were very difficult to communicate with due very poor and heavy English

5. The room smelled mouldy and many small 🐜 ants

6. Essentials not available in the room as in any 5star resort. Though we requested 2days in a row and were promised they never reached us

7. The furniture is worn out and cracked in many places

8. No ironing board

9. Safety box in room not working

10. No near gas station so be sure to have a full tank before you start your climb towards the resort

It was a waste of good money and a weekend

should get a compensation for this stay seriously

There must be a door rather than curtains for the washroom entry. Secondly the bath cubical door must not be see through specially for family stay with children.

The ambiance of hotel refreshed us and gavels opportunity to take break from worldly tensions. Staff was super duper amazing..and since I rarely go for swimming, the pool was amazing...my one year old daughter who never enters in pools finally enjoyed the hotel pool and never wanted to come out... overall my experience with the hotel was amazing.. hopefully will visit there soon... 5 stars for the hotel, staff and everything...

Too short a stay..

We enjoyed our time and soon realized that one night is no where near enough. There is so much to see and do at the Property, let alone venturing out side to the local villages.

The only negative thing I have to say is that the kids club was hardly if ever supervised, even at times kids activities were scheduled. We had to check with the front desk every time the supervisor did not show up for a scheduled activity, even then there was at least once where they never turned up.

Other than that, the stay could not have been better! The staff were great, rooms fantastic (we were even offered an upgrade but decided to stick to the room we originally booked), food nice and the views magical.

We went during the COVID-19 lockdown but the whole experience has been fantastic. We were received by Sultan who was an excellent host and guided us to our suite.

Jabal Akhdar is an amazing location got a weekend getaway. Alila is located in a wonderful location where you can gaze at the mountains and clouds. It was definitely \"15deg cooler” when I went.

We stayed at suite #46 and it has a beautiful view to the \"horizon\".

The hygiene, sanitization and social distancing norms were strictly followed which gave me a confidence.

Breakfast spread was good. It was delivered to our room within 15mins from ordering it. There was also an option to get it packed, for the road.

Overall excellent service and lovely stay. Would love to go back again and highly recommended.

Beautiful Setting

This was by far the best hotel out of all the 5* hotels we stayed at in Oman.
The location is beautiful, so peaceful. The rooms are spacious and the decor is kept simple.
The staff are so friendly. Chef Vipin looked after my family by cooking wonderful indian dishes off the menu. The dishes cooked were the best we've had in comparison to all other hotels in Oman.
Staff Albert in the dining area was wonderful. He looked after us during dinner time and was extremely friendly, always smiling.
Yoga, star gazing, archery and the mountain trekking were great activities.
Thank you for such a wonderful stay, this was such a memorable experience.

There aren’t enough stars for this hotel!

Alila is so good that there aren’t enough superlatives to describe it. The hotel is incredible; staff and service excellent, rooms wonderful, food a very high standard, and extra activities (spa, climbing) excellent too. I have nothing negative to say about Alila, and wish I could stay there every holiday. Every other hotel should aim to be as good.

Was disappointed that All WiFi was lost for a full day , this was a technical issue to be fair but none the less a pain !
If I’m being picky there was some litter around the place including cigarette butts on our balcony when we arrived

It was an amazing stay. Kids enjoyed going to the kids club, and the whole family enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and hotel room with great view. The complimentary breakfast and dinner were great too. Only thing not so good was the Mee goreng and Nasi goreng we ordered during lunch were both too salty to taste, which we conveyed to the staff. Overall, very happy with the stay and would love to be back.

There isn’t much around so if there is anything you’d need best to check if the hotel has it before making your way up to the hotel. Hotel arranged our transportation from the airport, took us about 2 hrs to get to the hotel. Driver was punctual, very helpful, and a safe driver.

From the start to the end, it was a great experience staying here. The service and attention to detail from the staff is impeccable. Mohit, Manish, Mahmoud, Ahmed were just some of the staff who were superb and the ones whose names we remember but everybody at hotel was extremely helpful and attentive. On the drive up to the hotel and back down to Muscat, the drivers will stop if you like and will also tell you details of the history of places you pass in the mountains. The chef catered to all our food needs and to anything we wanted to change or request for breakfast and dinner. The views are incredible, the rooms are great and spacious and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again along with other Alila hotels! Thanks again to the hotel.

I stayed in both 5 star resorts in the region. Compare to the other hotel, Alila has great view and infrastructure, unfortunately the service is not to our expectation. Waiters constantly forget our orders, at the end of the stay we don't even bother to ask again. You can feel strongly staffs are not welcoming and tired of their jobs when receiving the guests. They have no clue what's on the Omani menu and how they are cooked. But the pretty hotel makes it up. Compare to the neighboring newer hotel Anantara, the service level need big improvement.

After an exhilarating drive in the obligatory 4WD, we arrived and had a traditional greeting of dates and coffee. Wonderful! Check in staff were welcoming.
Then we were escorted to a superb horizon view room with an outstanding vista (especially from the sofa on the verandah at sunset). Excellent in room facilities, bathroom and very comfortable bed.
Dinner had to be the Omani tasting menu in their restaurant-very good.
Equally so, the very comprehensive breakfast buffet and menu.
Didn't have time to try the spa but the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Plenty of walking opportunities and outdoor rock pool jacuzzi in which to relax afterwards in this quiet location.

An amazing hotel is an amazing location

A bit hard to reach, it's high in the mountain. But once you are there, you will find the perfect construction and design that fit perfectly well in the landscape. The infinity pool that end so close to the huge canyon worth the trip. All the hotel is so well design and decorated. On top of it, the food included (half-board) was delicious.
Staff very efficient and care a lot. You can borrow bike and there is few treck trails very well identified and worth it (it's a very good exercise... be ready to nap after !).

Magical experience. Tense drive up but well worth the effort. Would recommend using concierge service for local walks. All staff very friendly & helpful. Some very nice touches- complimentary tea at poolside, sunscreen and insect repellent. Would recommend some spa treatments. Restaurant meals were excellent. Varied menu with many local flavours.

Had a wondeful time. The staffs hospitality was superb. The rooms were excellent. The best thing about this place is the hotels location givig you spectacular views. The restaurant and lounge are very good but their service is a bit slow. Only downside is that the wifi is very slow but that does not in anyways take away anything from this place as i would imagine people book this hotels to get away from the world and relax.

Stunning views from lip of a canyon. Staff genuinely happy and smiling, which makes a huge difference. Beautifully designed hotel which loses nothing to comfort. New head chef during our stay - food was excellent (especially the local items and specials on the menu). Bring a torch - the paths are uneven and not very well lit during the hours of darkness. Easy to find from the Muscat to Nizwa road due to new 'Alila' signage. Roads fully paved all the way - no concerns driving. We would have happily spent more time here.

This is an amazing place.

It's so well integrated into the landscape. The decoration is wonderful.

We stayed in a Ridge view suite and loved it. It was room 47, probably one of the nicest views in the entire compound.

My father stayed in a Jabal terrace, it was also very nice but I think the Ridge view suites are the best options.

We really liked it. It's expensive but justified. Will definitely go again.

The only small down point is the dining experience. The restaurant is not the primary attraction here. Breakfast is very good. But the diner was a bit disappointing. The mezze are delicious and the Chicken Tajine was the best main course.

Go there for the view, the quiet and the great service.

Alila is exceptional in all aspects. Staff was extremely kind, prompt to attend to our needs. The restaurant is fabulous. Quality, freshness, authenticity, one of our best dinners in Oman, while nothing can beat the outdoor breakfast, with view on the infinity pool and the canyon. The hotel delivers a serene feel, is very quiet, elegantly appointed. A place you want to go back to. The drive is long but offers stunning view on the valleys and mountains. If you travel by night, request a map or hire a guide.

Rarely in the world does one find a hotel where architect and owners/management have together achieved such serenity in a hotel's ambience, and unity with its location; all in a very elegant and individual style appropiate to its dramatic setting.
