We had the balcony room. Only one in the hotel. It was pretty incredible to sit out there each night and watch the people. The location cant be beat!! The staff was always friendly. The room could definitely use some work. Door knobs falling off, almost no hot water and just the over all condition of the workmanship. This hotel has soooo much potential. Just needs a bit of TLC. Overall i would stay hear again for the price point.

Fabulous location for the promenade, shops, bars and restaurants. Trams run right outside, 10 mins leisurely walk to the station and tram link to the airport is 5 mins away. A lovely little boutique hotel.

Acceptable facility - check the fine print

We did not see when we booked that the hotel would not guarantee the room type selected, and that was our fault. It created a tough situation for our family after a day of travel. The location of the hotel was fantastic, but it was small, and our a/c unit didn't seem to work, so our room was very humid. Our initial impression was bad, but in the end, our room and time here ended OK. The facility was very accommodating to us when we decided to leave a day early, and moved to another hotel a few train stops down the beach. The room and hotel in general was very European - smaller spaces, common restroom just down the hall from our room (we had a private bathroom, too, but could hear others using the public bathroom throughout the first evening), and the \"lobby\" was located on the second floor of the building. We would not choose to stay at this location in the future, but it was not the worst place we have stayed in our lives, either.

Hotel in a very good location, close to everything restaurants, shopping mall, to the tram, to the Promenade. Room is clean. But not sound-proof, you can hear everything fr the other rooms. We asked for the AC to be opened but staff said they don’t operate it until next month. She suggested to open the window, which we did but you can smell foul odor coming from outside probably drainage(?). There was also a smell coming from the bathroom drain.

Perfect Last-Minute Stay in Nice: We booked this hotel last minute for a quick stay in Nice, and it was absolutely perfect! The price was very affordable, and they made the experience even better with an easy early check-in, which we greatly appreciated.

Although the room was small, it was exactly what we were looking for—clean, cozy, and ideal for a short pop-in stay. The location was convenient, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations for such a spontaneous booking.

This hotel is in a great location, really central to explore Nice. The rooms are clean and spacious for such a central location.

However, you have to climb to levels of stairs to get to reception. For anyone who has limited or reduced mobility this hotel is not for you as there is no lift. We were not aware of this and my father really struggled, not helped as it's dark.

I wouldn't recommend breakfast here.. lots of lovely eating places very close by and there is just a small table in reception.

No coffee / tea making facilities in the room.

Firstly, this is a great place for access, its right in the main hub of the old town. So, you have access to loads of bars, restaurants. The tram stops are very close and easy to use. Some of the down sides are that its very noisy early in the morning with refuse lorries, street cleaners etc, even with the double-glazed windows. Another thing to bear in mind is that the rooms are small, functional but small, well room 6 anyway. Also the beds are solid, and if you have a bad back it might do you some good, if you don’t have a bad back you soon will have. The bathroom was fine, but the shower cubical was very small, if you moved to much or turned you it the shower mixer tap and it turned off. You can shower fine, but done move around to much in there, and trust me I am not large person by any means.
The rooms were cleaned daily, with bed sheets changed and fresh towels replaced daily, so I cannot fault them for that. We didn’t try the breakfast as there is so many places around, we made of use of them and did some people watching at the same time.
On the day of departure, we left our backs at reception, other people had done the same, upon collecting out bags some 6 hours later we went into the hotel and collected our bag, had I not put my hear around the door at reception they would have had no idea of someone taking a bag. So I don’t recommend leaving your bag as you cannot be sure if it has been tampered with or stolen. Advice is keep all your valuables with you at a

This hotel is on 2floor with several rooms in the building picture. To access this hotel have to remember building entrance number and hotel entrance number like apt. Very inconvenient and no privacy because the owner stays in front of hotel entrance door more then 18hours and can watch guests. Be careful when you pick up displayed map sheets. The owner shouted when my husband picked up 3 times. So rude and no business mind. Maybe so stressful running business alone.

Poor arrangements for arrivals after 8pm

I informed hotel about arrival time. I arrived at 20.50 having told them that I would arrive before 21.00. A guest let us into the hotel entrance as it was locked and needed a code. The telephone number given for that eventuality was not answered. Between us, my husband and I rang it at least 20 times. We looked around reception for a note/key. There was no provision made for us to take our boiled room. My husband then found an empty double room with the key in the electric slot. We assumed it was ours and put our luggage there, changed and went to dinner. An hour later, my call to the number was returned and I informed them that we had managed to take our room.

The next morning a curt manager had the nerve to ask us how we had got in!

There was a night manager also present who no doubt defending his job, claimed he had been there at the time of our arrival. Altogether, it was a shambles.

On the plus side the room was clean and comfy and the location is excellent.

GREAT location but.........even by European standards the room was disappointing. No desk (I was there on business), nowhere to put your clothes other than a few coat hangers (so I had to leave them in my suitcase), a very small bathroom that would be impossible for a person of 'above average size' to use (especially the shower cubicle), no safe and most importantly, paper thin walls. I could hear everything that was being said next door and ended up going to sleep with earphones in listening to music. I think hotel owners need to look at a hotel room through the eyes of a guest and imagine themselves paying money to stay in their own hotel. If the owners of Hotel De La Mer had done that, they would have done things differently.

We arrived late and were able to check in with the nighttime guard, but unfortunately they don’t actually have reception 24/7... it actually felt more like a b&b. We stayed for 3 nights and found the location to be really good. 15 mins walk from the train station, 3/4 mins from the airport bus stop and 2 mins from the sea made it really good. Its in the heart of the old town as well so lots of options for eating and drinking within a couple of minutes of the hotel. Staff at the hotel were really nice and helpful. The room was the main problem for us. Its was tiny and ad very little in it. The bathroom was so small it was difficult to move in and have a shower etc. The door also didn't shut properly. The walls were paper thin so we heard every movement and could hear the room next to us on both sides every time they got up and put on the TV etc which meant we were woken up early every day. The windows didn't have adequate curtains to the daylight got in easily and also meant we didn't get a full nights sleep. The noise from the breakout area at breakfast (despite being at the end of our corridor) was also really loud. Overall, despite the location being really good the room was so poor and our stay wasn't that comfortable as a result i wouldn't recommend it here. I thought the rate the hotel charged was far too high for the quality of the room. We've stayed in a few places in Nice before and you can get far better for your money and much better value just being a block or so off the main shopping street or off the sea front. My advice would be to try elsewhere.

A charming hotel; I would definitely stay here again. It is located on the second floor so not readily apparent from street level. The front desk is staffed from 8 am to 8 pm but the staff is available by phone and are prompt and helpful if called during off-hours.

If you want breakfast, be sure to put in your order the day before.

The hotel is located at the edge of Vieux Ville (old town) and is just two blocks from the promenade; we found this to be an excellent location as there are lots of restaurants and shoos within walking distance.

The hotel is in a perfect location and was surpisingly quiet despite being on a busy square. Everything was clean and well cared for. The staff were friendly. Overall we were happy with the stay. The only minor niggles were the fact that it is hard to find when you first get there, there is no pickup and dropoff area, and the breakfast left something to be desired. But, like I said, these are minor.

Really enjoyed this hotel. A great spot right near the ocean and the promade, where we are for every meal due to the large amount of different restaurants. The hotel was clean and the most spacious rooms we experienced on our France trip. Free WiFi in the rooms and great AC with a remote. Thanks for a great stay!

Stayed 5 nights. The location is great, close to the beach and the tram system. The hotel has no elevator and no one to help with bags. The room we stayed in had air conditioning but I think it was causing a funky odor. The door was broken and we were told it would be fixed but in was not over the 5 days.

Make sure you know the limitations before booking!

The main draw about the Hotel de la Mer is its location. Perfect for the old city, the seafront, and a walk to the congress centre. It was economical too. Downsides - room was very small (but quiet, considering the location although my room was at the rear) with nowhere really to sit and work. Bathroom tiny. I had breakfast (bit of a misnomer) on the first morning, thereafter didn't bother. Very friendly staff, but had to call to be let in when I arrived around midnight. Hard to find, taxi drivers don't recognise the name. Bed comfortable, that's all I needed. If you want anything more than that from your hotel, perhaps best look elsewhere.

Stayed at the Hotel De La Mer for 2 nights in March. Staff were friendly and rooms were very clean. 2 minute walk to the promenade and only a few minutes to the old town, and shops. The only minor criticism would be our room was a little bit dark. However many of the other rooms seemed to be brighter and more spacious. This wasn’t a huge issue to us and we spent most of the time exploring! Overall very good hotel.

For a stay in Nice that is close to the sea, Old Town Nice, and Promenade de Anglais, Hotel la Mer is a great value. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Our room size was perfect for two people. One of the two lights was out in the bathroom, so it was too dark to see well, and the shower head kept falling off the hook. The main drawback was all the noise outside our window at night. We faced a courtyard in which we heard what sounded like construction and people talking at all hours. This may have been due to a temporary project. Overall, we still found the hotel to be a great value, mostly due to the convenient location.

It was late in the evening when I walked up to the hotel entrance and I thought I made a mistake but went in anyway. Needed a code to get in the front door but it was ajar. It was hot and humid outside and as well inside the door. I walked up a stairway with my bag and knocked on the door marked for the hotel in an apartment/hotel building. A man opened the door with a non-French accent. I asked, \"Do you have a/c?\" He said \"Of course!\" From that moment on it was instantly good. Great guy, very helpful and the room was clean, comfortable and close to everything.Overall, it was a great experience.

Central hotel, fair price, a little tired looking

The good points first - you cant fault the central location, perfect for the old town, tram stops, and the bus in from the airport. The train station is a 20 minute walk away, or two tram stops. The price was reasonable, it does offer a laundry service (10 Euros for a bag, you have to ask at Reception), the room we had backed onto a back alley, so not a great view but it was very quiet at night (some hotels in Nice can be on busy, noisy streets, especially for refuse collections at 2:00am!), staff were helpful. The not so good points - its in what appears to be a residential block, so does not feel like a hotel when you first enter the stair (key code required), and no lift up to 1st floor floor, where you enter hotel. The rooms are a little small, but that can be said for many french hotels, and the furniture is looking very dated and tired, the TV was pretty small, and had only one English channel, CNN. We've stayed in many hotels in Nice and surrounding area, so have a lot to compare this hotel to - overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. not bad, but room for improvement.

An excellent location, close to the old town and its restaurants. The hotel is on the first floor. The staff were friendly. Our room and bathroom were very compact and sparsely furnished, and there were no tea/coffee making facilities. It looked onto a scruffy service area, which was noisy through the night. However, it was very clean and we were given fresh sheets and towels every day. If we had paid a little more, we could have had a larger comfort room overlooking the square.

Location idéale au coeur de la vieille ville! La plage et le marché en moins de cinq minutes de marche. Super! Emplacement parfait et personnel sympathique. La chambre était un peu exiguë, mais comme on n'y était que pour dormir ça n'a pas été un problème.

Mukava pikkuhotelli erinomaisella sijainnilla

Kiva, pieni hotelli erinomaisella paikalla Massena-aukiolla. Rantaan muutaman sadan metrin matka ja pääostoskatu alkaa aivan aukion edestä. Raitiovaunulla helppo yhteys lentokentälle. Huoneet sopivat muutaman yön yöpymiseen. Henkilökunta eritttäin ystävällistä. Ei hissiä,hotelliin päästäkseen noustaan kahdet portaat. Tämä kannattaa huomioida! Lähistöllä useita kahviloita, joista saa mieleisen aamiaisen.

Sijainti oli loistava! Vanha kaupunki, kivinen ranta sekä lukuisat ravintolat aivan lähellä. Alue melko täynnä turisteja.

Cuando llegamos nos llevamos una sorpresa enorme al ver que el “Hotel” en realidad es solo un piso con 4 habitaciones, no se dejen llevar por las fotos ya cuando llegas no puedes usar el ascensor y tienes que subir cargando tus maletas, no hay agua caliente en la ducha y después de la 1 pm si no han limpiado tu habitación ya se queda sucia hasta el día siguiente.
Lo único rescatable es la ubicación por que es céntrico pero hay hoteles que si son hoteles que están muy céntricos también y con excelentes instalaciones.
ENORME DECEPCIÓN Y ENGAÑO!!!

La ubicación es excelente para conocer todos los lugares de interés en los alrededores como comercio, restaurantes y el área de la playa
Si vas con maletas, grandes como no hay ascensor, tienes que subir un piso con ellas.
Muy bien atendidos en el área de recepción

Loistavalla paikalla

Vanha pieni hotelli todella keskeisellä paikalla! Kaikki tarpeellinen yöpymiseen ja peseytymiseen löytyy. Meidän oleskelun aikana (3 yötä) oli rauhallista. Aamiainen pitää tilata edellisenä päivänä. Läheltä löytyy leipomo, josta saa mieleisen aamiaisen, jos ei halua tilata etukäteen
